My School Play

2020-04-24T14:17:00.004+08:00

Hi peeps.

It's about my school play. We staged this play at the end of the school term last year. The young children were awesome, especially the main role. Jon, our Chu Kang, was so charming and courageous. I do not want to lose this play. Hence, I'm sharing it with you here.

Let's enjoy our very own version of PCK, The best in Baling, Kupang and some say Kuala Pegang. A big thank to Miss Ong for the recording and publishing of the play.

Enjoy watching.

My Cloud Classroom: Writing in the Cloud 2 (WITC2)

WITC2

Sharing with you my Cloud Classroom operated from home on Tuesday morning (I was on sick leave). It worked. It worked out well. In fact, it is much better than what was thought. Thanks to Ms Fun, my lovely buddy for chaperoning my posse. The young learners are my 22 Year 6 pupils who will be sitting for their UPSR in less than a month. They are witty and charming.

You will see how the young learners scrambled for the groups of their choice; deciding on the group members whom they wanted to work with. Everything took place in the Cloud. The videos showed chronologically will tell the whole story. For this posting, I'm sharing Part 2/6.

Enjoy watching.

39 - Day - Writing Challenge

2018-11-24T20:00:00.001+08:00

Hi Peeps.

It's the time to revive the holiday challenge, once again. I plan to write as much as possible. I plan to do it on a daily basis. I plan to go small but to do it consistently. Hence, the key to this challenge is CONSISTENCY!

By right, today is Day 2/39. I'll officially begin the challenge tomorrow at the break of dawn. As for today's post, please relish the clear blue November morning sky. This picture was taken this morning.

Dreams vs Perseverance ...

2018-11-16T19:22:00.002+08:00

Hi lovely people.

I'm back.

Apologies for the long hiatus in blogging, as I'm after my dream.

Due to that dream, I stopped blogging and gardening.

I ceased weeding and fertilizing.

I didn't trim the plants in my garden.

As a result, my roses rarely bloomed.

My bougainvilleas refused to grow.

My hibiscus and hydrangeas were attacked by aphids and deadly fungi.

Most of them are in a sorry state now.

Hope to revive them soon.

Right after catching my dream!

I believe in this quote...

'Don't let someone else catch your dream.

You be the dream catcher.'

Hi Hydrangeas!

2018-03-20T10:55:00.004+08:00

Good morning peeps.

It's me, the blog owner. I'm back after a year and half deserting Dusita Vista Blog!

This is a warming up post. I have lots in my mind but to put them down here, boulders and blocks need to be pushed aside. I'll do it. Soon!

For this comeback post, I would like to say 'Hi' with Hydrangeas!

Day 23/37

2016-12-17T15:14:00.006+08:00

Procrastinating.

Procrastination is like a credit card: It's a lot of fun until you get the bill!
~ Christopher Parker

I'll do it tomorrow as I still have lots of time. Relax!
~ Chinda Sengsuwan

I'm procrastinating, still! I've been thinking about the 'bill' and all the consequences, yet I couldn't bring myself to focus.

The following quotes are a form of graphical reminders ...

This is the best!

Stop PROCRASTINATING!

Start DOING!

Day 22/37

2016-12-16T15:42:00.002+08:00

Prosperity.

Hard work brings prosperity, playing around brings poverty.

Presenting Prosperity roses. The second flushes of blooms come after the pruning and cutting.

Work hard but play well!

Day 21/37

2016-12-15T00:26:00.001+08:00

Miracles.

Miracles always happen when you believe.

And I believe immensely.

Get well soon my dear sis.

Day 20/37

2016-12-14T09:00:00.002+08:00

Loropetalums.

What's in a name?

This ruby red foliage plant is Loropetalum (Loropetalum Chinense), also known as Chinese Fringe Flower.

I've planted these plants in Dusita Vista Garden a year ago without knowing what it's called until one of the FB Flowers Group members brought up this matter.

According to the plants experts, Loropetalums show excellent versatility in the landscape. They are attractive when grown in clusters or mixed screens as well as foundation plantings, single species and bonsai.

Their deep plum-pink foliage contrasts well with other shrubs and the profuse fuchsia fringe-like blooms make a great all time show. They are fast growing, and sun and drought tolerant too.

I'm now the proud owner of two pots of blooming Chinese Fringe Flowers and I happen to have two healthy plants on the ground, guarding the front gate as well.

Happy Gardening!

Day 19/37

2016-12-13T15:41:00.002+08:00

Roses.

This shot was taken yesterday, a cool Monday morning. I don't know her name but I love her immensely.

If there's a special camera that can capture not only her beauty but also her fragrance...

Day 18/37

2016-12-12T15:30:00.000+08:00

Raining.

It's raining cats and dogs.

It's been raining since dawn and it rains the whole day.

Dusita Vista is being enveloped in thick mist.

The scenery is heavenly.

The air is cool and refreshing.

Day 17/37

2016-12-11T15:23:00.000+08:00

Re-potting.

I've got my dream plants two days ago and it's time to re-pot them.

The plants in the list are hydrangea, the Lady of the Night and angelonia.

I got the task done with the help of my hubby, of course. We used up three bags of compost and two bags of baked garden soil.

I really hope these new members of Dusita Garden will adapt to the new environment soon.

The picture shown above has nothing to do with the blog post today. It's YTT, Yesterday Today and Tomorrow and it's a whole lot different post.

Happy Gardening!

Day 16/37

2016-12-10T15:05:00.000+08:00

Dad.

Today, December 10 is my beloved dad's birthday.

Happy 69th birthday Dad!

Love you dad!

Day 15/37

2016-12-09T14:50:00.000+08:00

Blue daze.

I adore blue daze due to its colour, blue.

I love every shade of blue.

Blue daze is a morning flower.

Come rain or shine, blue daze has never failed to perform.

Happy Gardening!

Day 14/37

2016-12-08T13:06:00.000+08:00

Hydrangea.

I had always wanted to plant hydrangea in my garden.

My dream came true when an online seller informed me about the availability of the plant.

They came early this morning; after spending two days on the road, cramming in a box.

One looks good but the other one is quite worrying.

They came together with the Lady of the Night and pink Angelonia.

No matter what it takes, I hope they will grow well in Dusita Vista Garden.

Happy Gardening!

Day 13/37

2016-12-07T12:51:00.000+08:00

Sisters.

We're sisters.

There's no better friend than a sister, and there's no better sister than you.

Day 12/37

2016-12-06T21:57:00.003+08:00

Day 12.

How time flies. I couldn't agree more with the old adage; time flies when you're having fun!

I have a feeling that I haven't done much in these 12 days. I don't see any vital project accomplished thus far. I'm yet to lay my hand on the stalled 'project'! I was diverted each time I sat down for it. I need to do something. I have to do it quick!

No matter what the project is, gardening is still my top priority! Let's admire the charming old school flowers that provide the cheery blue to my garden, Dusita Vista Garden.

This baby blue beauty, Plumbago auriculata, is always very dear to me. I've been yearning for this flower from the moment I laid eyes on it. Now, I'm the proud owner of three healthy Plumbago plants and they keep me smiling with their continuous blooms. They are a little idle during the rainy season though.

Happy Gardening!

Day 11/37

2016-12-05T15:00:00.001+08:00

Day 11.

Cooking. Yes, after many moons I cook today. But, the focus isn't the dishes that I cook, for food isn't my passion and neither does the cooking.

Reading, blogging and gardening are my passion. But that's a whole different blog post.

For today, I'm going to focus on the lady of the house - Lady of Megginch. I woke up this morning to a sweet fragrance smiling lady. She's dangling over the fence; beckoning to me as if she wants to have her picture taken.

More blooms are expected in the next few days.

Happy Gardening!

Day 10/37

2016-12-04T12:56:00.000+08:00

Day 10.

It's weeding day. Both of us, me and my hubby spend the whole morning weeding and clearing the overgrowth and weeds.

This picture has nothing to do with today's activity. I adore the pink flowers though. Please ignore the droopy leaves and flowers as this shot was taken at noon and the March sun was unbearable.

Nothing makes a tender plant wilt quicker, than a hot, dry day. Add in a dry wind, and the conditions for wilting are perfect. Do not worry as the plant recovers as late day and evening temperatures go lower. This is very common with this beauty.

Happy Gardening.

Day 9/37

2016-12-03T20:42:00.000+08:00

It's Day 9. Since my the other half is home today, I've planned lots of things to be done together. Let's have a look at my list ...

1. Weeding - vinca and spider plants, which were among the first flowers and plants planted in Dusita Garden a year ago, are in need of serious weeding.
2. Turmeric - I've tried growing turmeric twice and it failed both times too. Thus, I plan to grow turmeric in pots or in a new bed.
3. Angelonia - my angelonia bushes needs trimming and replanting as I want the plot where the present bushes is, to be covered with angelonia.
4. New flower bed - already built two in the compound and now I want another one along the fence outside
5. Own root roses - I've successfully propagated a few pots of own root roses from cutting and they need bigger pots to perform.

As you can see, my list revolves around my garden, Dusita Vista Garden. Nonetheless, we may make our plans but God has the last word, right? Anyhow, you can always change your plan if you have one, and I happened to have FIVE!

As usual, during this season, rain determines our plan over here. I ditch almost all the planned activities in the list, but one, trimming and transplanting angelonia. Instead of weeding, I clean the drain around my cottage. It takes me hours and the menial task has stiffened my muscles and joints. Having said that, the sight of purple angelonia or summer snapdragons makes my my heart flutter!

Happy Gardening!

Day 8/37

2016-12-02T10:43:00.000+08:00

It's raining again. It's been raining since yesterday. Even though I love rain, too much of anything is quite bad, quoting Mr Twain,. I couldn't weed. I couldn't trim. I couldn't prune. The only thing I could do is watching out the window.

Blog Header.

I'm going to share with you about my latest blog header. I've been changing and updating my blog header umpteen times; since the conception of this blog, which was known as Sophyta's Casita. Yesterday, I decided to have the name changed. Dusita Vista is my present humble abode, and it's my latest blog name. There's no reason behind this major revamp. I did it because I felt good of doing it!

Honestly, Header 1 is not my first blog header. I'm quite annoyed as Mr Blogger fails to safeguard my blog pictures. Anyhow, six awesome blog headers are something to be proud of, right?

Day 7/37

2016-12-01T12:20:00.002+08:00

Hi peeps.

It's Day 7/37. It rains all day long. My garden project is stalled. By right, I'm supposed to assume my long 'abandoned' project but it doesn't materialise.. The rain feels so good and again my initial plan is diverted. I'm called to beautify my virtual home, Sophyta's Casita.

For the time being, do enjoy the picture of my garden soaking in the morning shower. The scenery is breath taking and the air is super cool and fresh. You have to feel it yourself. No words can accurately describe the goodness here at the moment.

Day 6/37

2016-11-30T18:16:00.001+08:00

Dear sweet readers.

It's Day 6 of the 37-Day Holiday Challenge.

I've been sharing my colourful flowers in my garden with you. Now. it's succulents' turn. They were plants of a chance. To tell the truth, non flowering plants like succulents hardly have the ghost of a chance to strut in my garden. I don't fancy leaves and shrub!

They were a buy-one-free-one gift from a friend of mine. They tagged along jasmine plants; sharing the same pot for a couple of months. I decided to transfer them to an individual pot when they seemed to overwhelm the host with their thick broad leaves. They were transplanted in a beautiful pastel green ceramic pot each and have grown well since then.

Day 5/37

2016-11-29T17:08:00.000+08:00

Hi sweet people.

It's Day 5 in the challenge. And, the topic, still is about flowers and garden.

Hibiscus ~ our national flower and a rare beauty. Ironically, they are the minority in my garden.
(A repost from my FB.)

It's not only rose bud that is pleasant to the eyes, even the bud of a hibiscus flower is a sight to behold.

Orange was never my favourite colour but this orange hibiscus caught me off guard!

Yellow has never failed to attract me and this yellow hibiscus is an exceptional one.

Pink looks a little droopy due to the heavy pounding of the late night rain. Nonetheless, its beauty outshines the rest of its kind.

My individual posting of the flower might have deceived you into believing that I own a garden full of these rare beauties. Believe it or not, the three beauties are sharing the same pot! Yes, all of them are from the same plant.
