Exactly right. When you do not have to deal with the daily grind, those pesky every day issues that a mortgage, a wife, a job throw at you - life seems so much better in BsAs where you can dance all day and all night and nothing gets in the way of that. However - focusing only on the greatness of BA as a visitor without worries, and not on the wonderful things, however small they might seem, real life can offer you (usually given by the wife, sometimes by the house, rarely by the job) is why we all go through the post BA Blues.

I can understand how it can be offensive even though it was not meant to be.

The amazing dances I had in BsAs had more to do with finding people who's dance is compatible with mine then with their skill level. Some of the best dances I had were with people who not doubt were very good, but I've danced (both in US and BsAs) with people more skilled and yet it fell flat.

Maybe I'll write a post about amazing dances. It has less to do with how good the dancers are and more with with how "compatible" their dancing is with mine.

Some of the great BsAs dancers I asked did not dance with me. Some did and it fell flat. Some did and was good. And then some did and it was amazing.

No offense but, your post is a little offensive to Boston tangueras.

I understand that you've been dancing with some great dancers in Buenos Aires, but if they had adopted the same views you have, they might never have danced with you.

In any case, welcome back to Boston! You're dancing so well! We're lucky to have you back! Keep coming out - please don't be discouraged. We need great leaders like you to help support the community.

Not that Glasgow isn't a great city, which it is, but the tango is not as good here as in Boston.

Diana, your embrace and choice of clothing were always great. As with anything else, moderation is the key word. Some women insist on wearing some garments that act like an obstacle between the bodies but they still want to dance close embrace. If you can connect with your partner at the chest and don't feel any obstacle to getting a good embrace, then chances are, you are wearing the right thing(s).

There is one reason to go to the traditional milongas where the older generation dances: someday you will be in their shoes. You may as well see into the future how you will be dancing tango. I assure you that you won't be doing the nuevo stuff at 60.

1:00 - free tango concert every Thursday at the Teatro Alvear (when the suspension for flu is over)
Afternoon - walk around the city, shop for tango CDs and DVDs at Musimundo, see the tango dancers on Florida in front of Galerias Pacifico
Evening - 6:00 milongas at El Beso, Maipu, Leonesa, and Lo de Celia; El Arranque opens at 3:00. You can go watch the dancers and listen to the music.

Saturday, July 11 is "Dia del Bandoneon" with a special concert at 6:00 at La Trastienda, Balcarce 460 in San Telmo. Four of the greatest musicians will perform. 30pesos. Dia del Bandoneon commerates the birthday of Anibal Troilo born July 11, 1914.

There was a heated debate in Ask Arlene about whether a woman should get a breast reduction in order to be more comfortable in an embrace for tango. There are women who know they aren't dancing as often as they would like, and their breasts can be part of it.

To change the subject, I met a tall, thin Asian fellow in his 20s from Boston at Lo de Celia a couple weeks ago. He dances constantly with Argentine women, inviting them with the cabeceo. You must know him.

I can understand breast implants being uncomfortable, especially if it is a bad boob job. But a push up bra??? I think it might be one of those things that you simply need to learn to adapt the embrace to the woman you are dancing with. Just as women need to adapt to them men and their issues too.

It always amazes me how little attention people pay to the actual words written in the posts they comment on.

Deby, where on earth did you find any complaint or reference to the woman's chest SIZE? My post was specifically directed to the push up bras (which generally are worn by women with a smaller chest size anyway).

In addition, how would YOU know how lovely a dancer any women is, by looking at her dance? That's generally highly inaccurate.

As far as being an excuse or not, you read it any which way you want. It doesn't seem like the what I actually write makes any difference anyway.
