It was an epic showdown at Pie. After over a month of rigorous competition, 4 finalists from Barrie, the two owners of Pie, Canadian Eating Champ Furious Pete & World Hotdog Eating Champ Takeru Kobayashi faced off for the first ever ‘Pie Eating Championship’.

It was a rainy day, but the competitors made the best of it. A crowd of well over 200 watched the competitors face off.

Kobayashi ended up taking the crown, but his competitors fought hard. Kobayashi won a cash prize along with his own dedicated parking spot at Pie and free pizza for a year!

Suiteworks is a fantastic shared office space in the south end of Barrie, Ontario.  Sorlie Arts created this video for their website.

Sarah is a kindergarten teacher who went to Central Collegiate in Barrie. Central was always the arch nemesis to Barrie North where I went to High School. We didn’t know it at the time, but Sarah and I competed in many band competitions including MusicFest (which I think we won – but we’ll see!)

James is an entrepreneur – currently working on running the bar/grill that he owns in the Pickering area as well as a bunch of other fun projects in the hopper.

Sarah & James got married on Saturday July 17, 2010 in Barrie, Ontario. They asked us to film their wedding and we wanted to go over and above for them and create a Same Day Edit.

Due to the layout of the schedule, we literally didn’t think we’d be able to make it. It felt like one of those reality TV shows – you know the ones where the clock is ticking on the screen and they always seem like ‘this is never going to get done’. Well – long story short – we edited this together over dinner and showed it at the reception (no drama here!)

Magda & Adam are two Doctors working in Boston, MA. They both come from Polish descent and decided to get married in Barrie, where Magda’s parents live. We realized very quickly that the Polish community is a very closely knit family.

If you haven’t heard of a Wedding Same Day Edit before, basically, we film and edit a short piece the day of your wedding and have it ready to air at your reception! The experience is incredible – especially when it’s kept a secret!

We had a tonne of fun with this Same Day Edit. Magda & Adam didn’t know when they planned their wedding that pretty much all of Toronto’s major routes would be shut down for the G20 Summit. There were times when the 427 was shut down completely – or when you couldn’t get on to the 400 because a motorcade was coming through.

Once we arrived back at the reception hall though, the party really got started! Their wedding was a unique experience for us in that it was just about 100% Polish. The entire ceremony and speeches were all in Polish. We, unfortunately don’t speak Polish (yet! we’re going to learn though, that’s for sure!)

Trying to figure out when first dances or cake cutting or even when the couple is named Man and Wife is fairly straight forward in English – but man did we have an adventure basically learning a new language tonight!

I would like to thank Magda & Adam for having us along for their wedding day. It was a blast and one that we will remember for sure!

We had the opportunity to surprise Kylee & Tom with a Same Day Edit tonight. Since we’re just getting our feet wet, we’ve been doing these Same Day Edits as an extra bonus for our couples – without letting them know until just before it’s ready to watch!

Kylee and Tom were such an honour to film, its great to be around a couple when you can see how much they cherish one another, you can see in Tom’s face how much he adores Kylee.  Kylee and her girls were truly stunning! Thanks to Kylee and Tom and their families for hosting us on their wedding day.

Tonights’ wedding was at Maclaren Art Centre which is where Emily and I had our wedding reception. It was so great to be back in the same room where we had our amazing wedding.
