Areas of intervention:

Overall priority will be given to large-scale projects built on a wide partnership involving organisations from a significant number of EU Member States/eligible EFTA States and offering a true European scope and relevance. Projects must be transnational projects, studies and research, exchange of best practice, training, study visits, staff exchanges, seminars, meetings, conferences or a combination of these.

Specific attention will be given to new types of addictions with regard to use of new psychoactive substances. Proposals must demonstrate their innovation and show that there is no duplication with existing activities, including those foreseen by the EMCDDA – European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction .

1.1. Ensure the expansion of the knowledge base, the exchange of information and identification and dissemination of good practices in the area of drug-demand reduction

1.2. Raise awareness of the health and social problems caused by drug use or which influence drug consumption, and to encourage an open dialogue with a view to promoting a better understanding of the phenomenon of drugs

1.3. Support measures aimed at preventing drug use, including by addressing reduction of drug-related harm and treatment methods taking into account the latest state of scientific knowledge

1.4. Projects aimed at the involvement of civil society in the implementation of the European Union's Drug Strategy and Action Plans on Drugs

1.5. Projects aimed at the monitoring, implementation and evaluation of specific actions under the Drugs Action Plan 2009-2012

The objective of this call is to promote projects with a high added value at European level in education for entrepreneurship. Actions will target teachers and young people in primary, secondary and tertiary education

Projects to be supported will focus on one of the following objectives (lots):

1.1 Creating trans-European models for primary and secondary school teachers to support the development of their skills and methods in applying entrepreneurial learning to different teaching subjects and to different contexts.

There are two types of actions under this call:

For joint mobility projects (JMP) support is provided to enable EU-partner country consortia of post- secondary vocational and training institutions, to carry out joint study and training programmes and to implement student and faculty mobility. Support includes lump sum funding for administration and grants for students and members of the academic and administrative staff. Special attention will be given to projects which include internships and work placements.

European funds for pilot projects for the European voluntary himanitarian aid corps

The objective of this call is to select pilot projects that will support the Commission in the process leading-up to the establishment of a European Voluntary Humanitarian Aid Corps through the implementation of pilot actions.

The pilot actions shall test some of the possible modules of the future Corps and inform the European Commission's work setting up the Corps.

2012 is the European Year of Active Ageing and Solidarity between Generations

Active ageing can give the baby-boom generation and tomorrow's older adults the opportunity to:

stay in the workforce and share their experience
keep playing an active role in society
live as healthy and fulfilling lives as possible.

It is also key to maintaining solidarity between generations in societies with rapidly increasing numbers of older people.

The challenge for politicians and stakeholders will be to improve opportunities for active ageing in general and for living independently, acting in areas as diverse as employment, health care, social services, adult learning, volunteering, housing, IT services or transport.

The European Year seeks to raise awareness of the issues and the best ways of dealing with them. But most of all it seeks to encourage all policymakers and stakeholders to set themselves goals and take action to meet them. 2012 should go beyond debating; it should start bringing tangible results.

European financial support for long term professional career integration projects

Deadlines:6th March 2012 AND 18th September 2012

This action consists of financial support for long term professional career integration projects in a host organisation of a Member State or associated country.

The financial support aims to provide the researcher with the best possible conditions for establishing herself/himself in a long term research career. For selected projects, a grant agreement is issued with the integration host organisation, which will commit itself to ensure an effective and lasting professional integration of the researcher for a period of at least the same duration as the project.

The integration host organisation must provide the researcher with an employment contract with a remuneration package of at least the same level to that offered to equivalently qualified researchers at the same institution. Evidence that the researcher will be integrated in the host organisation on this basis for a longer term will be positively taken into account during evaluation. Projects will be selected on the basis of a proposal submitted by an eligible researcher in liaison with a host organisation.

OBJECTIVES:

The objective is to reinforce the European Research Area (ERA) by encouraging researchers to establish themselves in a Member State or in an associated country, thereby attracting and retaining the best talents in Europe. The action is designed to support researchers in the first steps of their European research career and to attain lasting professional integration in the ERA. By providing researchers with a substantial research budget, the action is intended to improve considerably their prospects for long term integration, thus contributing to the success of their research career. This action should also allow the transfer of knowledge that the researchers have acquired prior to the Career Integration Grant, as well as to the development of lasting co-operation with the scientific and/or industrial environment of the country from which they have moved. This action has a particular emphasis on countering European 'brain drain' to other third countries (Not EU/associated countries)

New European programme for SMEs (2014/2020)

The Programme for the Competitiveness of Enterprises and SMEs, COSME will focus on financial instruments and support to the internationalisation of enterprises.

The Programme has the following general objectives:

- Improve access to finance for SMEs in the form of equity and debt: First, an equity facility for growth-phase investment will provide SMEs with commercially-oriented reimbursable equity financing primarily in the form of venture capital through financial intermediaries. Second, a loan facility will provide SMEs with direct or other risk-sharing arrangements with financial intermediaries to cover loans.

- Improve access to markets inside the Union and globally: Growth-oriented business support services will be provided via the Enterprise Europe Network to facilitate business expansion in the Single Market. This programme will also provide SME business support outside the EU. There will also be support for international industrial cooperation, particularly to reduce differences in regulatory and business environments between the EU and its main trading partners.

- Promote entrepreneurship: activities will include developing entrepreneurial skills and attitudes, especially among new entrepreneurs, young people and women.

The Programme is expected to assist yearly 39 000 firms, helping them create or save 29 500 jobs and launch 900 new business products, services or processes, yearly.

The 2012 programme for grants in the field of trans-European networks (TEN) - area of energy infrastructures (TEN-E) - will encourage the effective operation and development of the internal market, reinforce the security of supplies and the diversification of energy suppliers and routes, facilitate the development and reducing the isolation of less-favoured regions, contribute to sustainable development and protection of the environment, inter alia by involving renewable energies.

New european 2014-2020 programme for culture

Creative Europe is the new EU programme dedicated to the cultural and creative sectors, proposed by the European Commission on 23 November 2011 that will run from 2014 to 2020. It would support tens of thousands of artists, cultural professionals and cultural organisations in the performing arts, fine arts, publishing, film, TV, music, interdisciplinary arts, heritage, and the video games industry, allowing them to operate across Europe, to reach new audiences and to develop the skills that are needed in the digital age. By helping European cultural works to reach new audiences in other countries, the new programme will also contribute to safeguarding and promoting Europe's cultural and linguistic diversity.
What will the programme achieve?

300 000 artists and cultural professionals and their work receive funding to reach new audiences beyond their home countries.
More than 1 000 European films would receive distribution support, enabling them to be seen by audiences throughout Europe and beyond, on traditional and digital platforms.
Thousands of cultural organisations and professionals from Europe would benefit from training to gain new skills and to strengthen their capacity to operate internationally.
2 500 European cinemas would receive support enabling them to ensure that at least 50% of the films they show are European.
More than 5 500 books and other literary works will receive support for translation, which will allow readers to enjoy them in their mother tongue.

New European programme for 2014-2020

Erasmus for All is open to everybody, through any public or private body active in the areas of education, training, youth and sport. It will provide opportunities to learn and study abroad for up to 5 million people over the period 2014–2020. It will also help improve the quality of teaching and education in the EU and beyond. The Commission proposes to invest €19 billion for the 2014–2020 budget period - an increase of around 70% compared to the current period, reflecting the importance the Commission attaches to education, training and youth.

What will Erasmus for all support?
The programme will support three main types of actions:

Learning opportunities for individuals, both within the EU and beyond, including: study and training, traineeships, teaching and professional development and non-formal youth activities such as volunteering.Erasmus for All would provide opportunities for learning abroad for up to 5 million people across all education and training sectors. Europeans would have the option to study, train or teach at higher education institutions anywhere in the world, and non-European students and staff would have more opportunities to study, teach and learn in Europe. Extending the programme beyond the EU's borders will increase the attractiveness of European higher education and at the same time support the development of higher education elsewhere in the world.
Institutional cooperation between educational institutions, youth organisations, businesses, local and regional authorities and NGOs, to encourage the development and implementation of innovative practices in education, training and youth activities, and to promote employability, creativity and entrepreneurship.
Support for policy reform in Member States and cooperation with non-EU countries, with a focus on strengthening the evidence-base for policy making and exchange of good practices. Support will include the implementation of EU transparency tools, cross-country studies and support for specific policy agendas such as the Bologna (higher education) and Copenhagen (vocational education and training) processes.

Two completely new elements will be part of Erasmus for All:

A loan guarantee scheme to help Master's degree students to finance their studies abroad and to acquire the skills needed for knowledge intensive jobs.
The creation of 400 'knowledge alliances' and 'sector skills alliances'. Knowledge alliances are large-scale partnerships between higher education institutions and businesses to promote creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship by offering new learning opportunities and qualifications. Sector skills alliances are partnerships between education and training providers and businesses to promote employability by forming new sector-specific curricula and innovative forms of vocational teaching and training.
