Lucille Ghatti coming straight from the North Hollywood, CA has one of the best R&B albums I've heard this summer. I recently came across an upcoming, soulful, and free spirited artist by the name of Lucille Ghatti representing North Hollywood, CA. Her sound and diction impressed me off of her latest mixtape "High Grade" and I can't stop playing it. Its an understatement to say her mixtape is good..it's Dope, Epic, Amazing all in one. A soothing and sweet sound such as her's will put you in a good mood no matter of how you're feeling. Shout Outs to Lucille's producers who provided her with some amazing beats and my most played records of her happened to be produced by "Leken Taylor". My favorites thus far are "#Tekken5", "Kardashian OG" (with a sample of Kendrick Lamar's 'Chapter Six'), "The Super Villan", and well...the entire album of course. Creativity is heard in her lyrics and I look forward to hearing more from Lucille Ghatti. Listen to her mixtape below and leave your feedback. I'm sure you won't be disappointed.
Ginette Claudette's "Everything's Coming Up Roses" is a must listen for all of us who appreciate good music from talented artists! My first thoughts while listening to this mixtape was "Who is she?", "Why haven't I heard of her?" and "When is the next album?!" It's been a while since I listened to a mixtape without pressing the NEXT button in hopes of hearing a better song! She is one of the few artists to hold your attention and spoil your ears through the ENTIRE mixtape. My heart was stolen instantly with her first track Fade and I was completely sold by the final song Someday We Will. The beat, the lyrics, and everything about the mixtape hit home and forced me to shut up and listen! :) Here's a rundown of her tracklist:

1: Fade: Those of us who have that special crush and you're tired of "wasting time"..this song is for you!
2: Second Nature: Pretty sure majority of us have felt that sort of love that "comes so naturally"..well like second nature!
3: Pulling Petals: He loves me, He loves me not! Heartfelt words+ Thumpin Bass= Definite Banger!
4: I Could Kill You: Well...lets let the title speaks for itself!
5: Against the Wall: Ever felt like someone wasn't taking you serious..gave your all and it still wasn't enough???
6: When You Let Me Go: At least once in our lives we go through the "breakup"..this song is therapeutic and allows every thought to be said with words while riding a sweet melody..Listen up!
7: Criminal: This is dedicated to all the mistresses..pardon me..I mean the next "victims" to the GAME!
8: Someday We Will: Everyone needs a song to bring the hope back into the "quest for love" Perfect song to end the mixtape..Next thing to do is hit REPEAT!

It's been a while since I heard a sensual female hip hop artist. Besides my fellow few loves for Boog Brown, Lyrical Jones, Eternia, NittyScott MC and KizzyKrew just to name a few other hot artist out, MC Melodee brings a sound to the table that is quite original and unique. New upcoming female hip hop artist MCMelodee is making her way through the door and I must say she is HOTT!!! Fresh lyrics with dope beats mixed by cookin soul, Check out Melodee is a pretty D.O.P.E. mixtape. Expect to hear some dope collabs with a few other DOPE artist, Mac Miller and Smif and Wess, just to name a couple. YES!, I know i say the word DOPE about 10 times but I have no other words to explain the excitement I feel when I hear something as great as this. It's been a while since a female hip hop artist has put out something so lyrical. The first song that caught my attention was "Check Out Melodee", with rhymes over the mixed beat of Eric B & Rakim's melody. I knew she came from an era of great music with this record and the collab with Cookin Soul makes the entire mixtape a non stop play that I currently have on repeat. Open your minds and ears and give MC Melodee a listen. I promise you won't be disappointed. This is the next generation so jump on board or get left with the rest of the wack "rappers" (and I use that word loosely).

Quentin "Que Da Problem" Ricketts is known for his musical passion, radio personality, and the "guy in Fayetteville who does all the hosting/promotion". Every time I hear him or see something he writes, rather it be on FB or Twitter, its about music and our generation today. I say this because it is a voice that I think we need to take a second, sit back, and listen to.

"Born November 6, 1986, Quentin Ricketts of Brooklyn, New York was always
destined for greatness. As a child he was very musical, learning to
play the drums, piano, and keyboard at the age of eight, and singing in
the church choir. He harnessed a special love for classical music, but
to his mother’s dismay, the beat of hip hop drums and lyrics
pulsed through his veins like blood itself. He was musically influenced
by artists such as Bone Thugs N Harmony and The Notorious B.I.G. By the
time he was fifteen, Que realized his passion was not to be an artist
in the mainstream music industry."~Bio(2012)

Que has had the time to sit down with some "HIP HOP" artist that have made their way to Fayetteville, NC (J.Cole and Big Sean just to name a couple). It didn't take long before I realized, he thinks just like I do in regards to this "music thing". I took the time out to ask Que a few questions (and I thank him for taking the time out to respond) because I was very curious, and honored, to hear what he had to say about today's music and its influences on our generation. Because in my eyes, he is not just a HIP HOP guru, but someone that understands the meaning of sound.

Who is Que?
A rebel, a voice of this generation, lover of the arts, "Da Problem" (smirks)

What
do you think of today's mainstream music (the division between hip-hop
and rap and the division between r&b and neo-soul)?

In my opinion [Hip Hop is the culture, the expression of the art, "rap" is the art itself]. I'm
not really going to get into the discussion of "whats rap, from whats
not" I will say that while the "essence" of rap is disappearing there
are a few that keep it alive, like a J. Cole, Jay Electronica, Wale,
Rick Ross, etc just to name a few. R&B is "Rhythm and Blues" I feel
like that part of the industry has been broken down way too much. I mean
what is the real big difference between the two when its all said and
done?

What is hip hop to you?

[Its not just the music, To
me its almost like religion] (no offense). Its a way of life, the way we
talk, our demeanor, a lot of people get their styling tips based off of
what a rapper says he's/she's wearing in their music, its not only
apart of but also influences our society whether some want to believe it
or not.

Who are some of your favorite lyrical hip hop junkies and R&B artist?

Wow
I couldn't name them all for the sake of time but, Jay-Z would be my all
time favorite, Wale, Cole, Drake, Big Sean, M.G.K., Wiz Khalifa, would
be on top of my list as of now. As far as R&B is concerned...In my
opinion its almost a dying art Trey Songz has a few hits that I like,
Sean Garret, Jill Scott, Musiq Soulchild, John Legend, Sisqo, Jamie
Foxx, Boyz II Men, Dru Hill, Ne-Yo, Beyonce, I guess it depends on what
time frame we're talking about at the time.

Where can people find you, hear you, and possibly get in contact with you?

First
off I want to say thank you for the opportunity, its been a
pleasure. You can always find me on twitter @Que_Da_Problem, my website www.QueDaProblem.com, on Facebook at Que Da Problem, or on youtube at www.youtube.com/crownedlegends. Also be on the lookout for the "Whats Ya Problem?!" vlogs, and celebrity/artist interviews.

Thank you for your input Mr. Ricketts, you are greatly appreciated.

Rasheen "RaRa Soul" Devine is an ARTIST (let's get that straight). He represents the language of what it means to speak "cogently. I came across the young man when a FaceBook friend of mine posted a video titled "She Can't Find Her Keys". A very playful yet undeniably intelligent spoken words, the video had me thinking "what if?". Several thoughts ran through my mind on how his play on words took me through a world wind of different emotions but yet I couldn't stop watching because I wanted to know how it will end. I took the time out to ask RaRa Soul some questions and his answers intrigued me even more to find out who he really is. With the release of his new album, "Poetry & Chill Music", RaRa Soul found some time link up and I thank him for his time. I only hope to hear more from this young man. Check out the partial interview below.

Who is RaRaSoul?

RaRa is a universal being originally from Venus, raised
on Mars, and now resides on Planet Earth. He decided to start writing
light years ago before he was born. As he descended upon earth, he
ascended into an earthly temple known as the Male Human Body. He chose
to be a male because he wanted an outy, and it just seemed more feasible
to have that when the Female softy beings with the innies were so
tantricly attractive. It just fitted his character. His Ethnicity: Black
Berry Complexion of Intellectual African Descendents. Boo-Yah!!!!

He wrote his first lyrical scripture on his mother's kitchen wall at
the human age of 2. That’s when he was able to get his hand on his first
permanent marker. It spelled outhlkafguf. That’s baby language for
those who don't know, only babies can decode it with permanent markers
themselves. It was very memorable.

In the 5th grade level, he
wrote his first poem. It was inspired by the twelve white girlfriends
that he dated all at once. He then started writing lyrics and raps for
his first love that was a black girl who told him that they go together
now. He had no choice, she was a ride or die sassy chick, and he liked
that. He’s still friends with the white girls up until this day.

What was your inspiration for your new album "Poetry & Chill Music"

The inspiration for my album started in 2008. I was writing raps for a
while, and decided to improve my lyrics through the use of poetry and
spoken word. That’s when I started attending more poetry venues, and
decided to be more smooth and laid back with my lyrics. With this new
improved style of flow, I decided to name this album “Poetry & Chill
Music.” Its such a laid back album. Poetry & Chill Music shows the
side of me thathas grown and is more articulate.
The title
audaciously was inspired by the Lil Boosie & Lil Weebie album
“Gangsta Musik.” No correlation, but the title did spark the idea for
my albums title.

What is the message or content you are wanting to get out to people with your words?

The message that I am getting out to the people is one of enjoyment,
self-inspiration, and creativeness. Being free to do whatever you want,
provoking thought, and living life with love.

The first song I heard by you was "Monogamy". What made you write a piece called "Monogamy"?

What inspired Monogamy. Honestly, I'm a serial Monogamous. I tend to
have sex with one woman for a long period of time. I look at it like
exploring new lands. The female’s body is so intriguing that it can take
a lifetime to explore, not only her body, but her mind as well.
Therefore, I felt inspired to write a song about monogamy, because its
something that I’m knowledgeable about.
I recently got an exclusive interview on him and he is very legal by the way (ladies, don't be so quick to jump). Ace dropped another HOTT mix tape about a month ago entitled #REFUNDCHECK. Be on the lookout for his upcoming project "Freshman 15", dropping this weekend April 15th, 2012. As he answered the phone in laughter, I got to catch up with the upcoming, talented, young artist Mr. Ace Henderson. He has a lot of new projects coming up and his insight of what he thinks on music intrigued me. Some things that caught me by surprise were his ideas on what the art of "Hip Hop" is and who his favorite artist are...

Who is Ace Henderson? Find out here

On his inspiration for #RefundCheck and Senioritis...

I have a whole kind of movement going called 'high school famous' and everything with that is basically like school related since I'm basically graduating high shool I'm just going to keep it going to the kinds of things that are going on in college. #RefundCheck is basically a coming out party. Senioritis I did late last year...It was a preview to kind of give people of what is to come...

On the message and content Ace wants to get out with his music...

I don't want to influence anyone to do something there not comfortable with. Since I'm only 18, I can't rap about flashy cars and having big houses and throwing crazy parties because I've never done that before, so I feel like I'll be cheating myself and other people that are originating good music without trying to portray this image of some rappers. My basic opinion shows that not every rapper is the same and its cool to be you. You don't have to put on a front for anyone. What you get out of my songs is what I'm feeling that day...

On his upcoming projects...

I do have a video with headgraphix coming out with green goblin off of Senioritis. I'm working on a new EP with probably 5 or 6 songs, it will be called Freshman 15...

To get the scoop with Ace and I, listen to the full interview below and Enjoy!

Stacy Barthe has been pushin' some hits for a while now. She was on 106th & park a while back, but like most of the people today who don't watch that show anymore, I didn't recognize her talent right away because the lack of radio play. Good music doesn't get played often on the radio nor on television anymore (unless your watching BET centric of Music Choice). When a friend of mine told me about a song called "Never Did" and how I just had to listen to it, I took the time to listen. After one listen, I was hooked with the entire album on repeat. Sincerely Your's by Stacy Barthe has got to be the most sensual, relaxing, vibing music I've heard in a long time from a young artist.

I may be a year late, but Moruf's"Garden State of Mind: Ready to Live" still knocks. If you haven't listened to him, please download his record at http://moruf.bandcamp.com/

For the record, my favorites are: "Sometimes", "Love Jones", "Peach Gone Bad", and "Vanishing Point" . The entire mixtape is super D.O.P.E. so make sure you all take the time to listen. Better late than never.

This is my first hearing of Ms. Phoenix Pagliacci, but she is a true R&B artist. Her soothing, melodic sound puts the romance back in Rythym and Blues. One of my FaceBook friends posted the link to her newly release EP, "The Pretty Wings EP", which begins with a poetic intro and caught my attention right off the back. You can find Phoenix expressing her versatility of spoken word in Track 6 with her expressing her definition of "Lady" off of D'Angelo's "Lady" mix. If you are a person with a good ear, going through a heartache, experiencing love for the first time, or just enjoy the sounds of pure romance then you need to download this mixtape. It's free! The woman has got true talent and it needs to be recognized. To get a little up close and personal with Ms. pHoenix Pagliacci, like her facebook page for her latest updates, previous sounds, and upcoming projects.

pHoenix Pagliacci is a 23-year old East York, Toronto,
Ontario native who has been singing/song writing since the age of 6. Her
love of music and willingness to branch out has afforded her the
opportunity to perform, co-write, sing and even rap with numerous
artists across the GTA and North America. Some of these artists include
Toronto's own Lokz, PG, Erik Flowchild, Junia-T of the Smash Brovaz and
Tona. pHoenix has also reached out to artists across the border who are
receiving major recognition in today's Hip-Hop community, such as New
York's L.A. and North Carolina's Rapsody. As a female artist, especially
one who raps, pHoenix looks up to successful artists such as Roxanne
Shante, Jean Grae, Eternia and Lauryn Hill, female artists who have
broken the mould in the Hip-Hop culture and continue to inspire those
who aspire to have their stories heard as well. Her debut album,
entitled "Books, Bucks & Beats Vol. 1: Holla At A Schola" is
pHoenix's presentation of the 3 focuses upon which her life relies:
Books, which are her continued learning efforts, Bucks, which is her
source of income, and Beats, which is and always will be her music.

It's finally here! The post I promised you all on the talented Darius. Darius aka LLDarius (stands for Ladies Love Darius), is an 18 year old rapper/producer/engineer born and raised in Anchorage, AK currently residing in Seattle, WA. "I would describe my music as feel
good hip hop with witty yet deep lyrics that people can really just
chill and vibe too" says LLDarius. I don't disagree with him. His music has content and meaning behind it, which is a rare attribute to have and/or come across. If you like to chill and have something to bob ya head to, then this is dude to listen to. Darius also has dropped a mixtape called "Farewell" ( can be downloaded by clicking on link) which was released in August of last year (2011). Darius shows versatility in producing his own songs and mixing them with a little old school flavor. He does a few freestyles over some current tracks by artist such as Drake and Lil Wayne (I can't stand Lil Wayne by the way). I am impressed with the young talent I've been hearing lately with deep lyrics.

Time to get personal with Darius...

On upcoming projects...
"I am currently working on three mixtapes. I got 'Rest in Beats' which will
be all classic beats and that should be dropping in a couple weeks. I also got the regular tape which does not have a date yet but will drop
sometime before summer and that one will be all original tracks. Then lastly I'm working on a EP which will be about 10 tracks all
produced by myself that is still nameless at this point around winter"

On how people can get in contact with you...

A couple of weeks ago I attended an event that had some amazing performances at shakedown st in Raleigh, NC. One of the few that caught my attention was ACE HENDERSON.

Listen to "Dead Wrong (Freestyle)"

SEVENTEEN YEARS OLD! Killing the game right now. His humble, quirky vibe reminds me of Donald Glover (aka Childish Gambino) but his lyrics remind me of a Lupe Fiasco and Mos Def. Yes! He is that damn D.O.P.E. I know its my own opinion but its a good one and its the damn truth. Although our encounter was short, Ace seemed to display a very positive stage presence. Don't let the age fool you! Ace speaks as a wise man and even during his performane at the ShakeDown St. in Raleigh, NC, I could tell some people had a hard time comprehending his lyrical flow. (Like I always say, the simple minded don't understand lyrical genius and true HIP HOP) Doesn't sound like something that would come from a teenager does it? Technically Ace is about to become a grown man on paper but hell, it don't even sound like something that would come from a grown man either. I put Ace Henderson under the category of HIP HOP ARTIST. D.O.P.E as his music may sound, believe me when I say he recorder all of his music "All in my room. In between dinner time and the time when Girls Gone Wild
commercials come on haha", says Ace Henderson. Senioritis is his latest mixtapes that show's Ace Henderson's versatility as a true artist. You can deifinitely expect to hear some dope sounds. My favorites being "Dead Wrong (freestyle)", "Quicksand ft. J*Davey", and "John F Kennedy". Don't get me wrong, the entire album is dope! These three tracks caught my attention the right off the back. I hope his talent doesn't get over looked by "Wack a flacka and Gucci Mane wanna be's" because this guy has real talent that is rare to come across.

Be on the lookout for his upcoming album "Freshman 15" to be released late February or early March. I'm really looking forward to hearing that after hearing a couple of tracks that may be on this next mixtape. No exact date has been set yet but in the mean time feel free to download Senioritis.

A few friends of mine, a part of the IYS crew,
told me check out ForteBowie's "something about #bowie", and I NEED THE
WORLD TO LISTEN TO THIS MIXTAPE. It is f****n AMAZING, EPIC,
PHENOMENAL, LYRICAL, GENIUS! The 21 year old talented ForteBowie, is definitely making a movement with his artistic and lyrical sounds. The Atlanta bred artist sings and raps. (Please don't try to compare to Drake because he is nothing like) He is truly a D.O.P.E. HIP HOP ARTIST. This young man has me falling in love with every lyric, every song, and every melody off of his mixtape. This mixtape shows his versatility of poetry, vocals, and down right true lyrics. Don't expect none of that "shake that a** b*tch and let me see what you got" sound from him. With songs like "Impala", "Ratchet" (My favorite song and some of you females may get offended by this, if you do, that means your RATCHET), and "Decatur", Bowie shows his versatility. I can't express enough how much I need for everyone to go download this mixtape. (Scroll down for download link). For the basic's, don't worry, his lyrics are broken down so deep that a rock can understand. I truly believe HIP HOP is making its way back to its true art form. People like Bowie inspire me to keep on doing Sounds FoReal.com to prove that HIP HOP is still alive. We need more people like FORTEBOWIE on the scene. If you're going through a heartbreak, listen. If you're getting money, listen. Hell, if you're damn near broke, listen to this mixtape. It is free and it is AMAZING. I don't lie about this.

ForteBowie is HIP HOP. He represents what all of us young people think but have a hard time saying. He is that down- south smooth brotha, who shows he's not afraid to speak on a little emotion but also likes to make the speakers bump. I truly hope some of you take the time out to listen to his message.

Get to know Bowie :

"21 year-old Atlanta-bred beat machine and hip-hop hybrid ForteBowie
rightfully resembles all three through his fusion of sheer emotion and
evident hunger, with witty wordplay and dynamic delivery. Classic
samples lay the platform for an eclectic ensemble of productions that
properly inspire raw recaps and true testimonies of a youthful genius--
vividly expressing the thrills, trials, and triumph that accompany
chasing a self-made promise to pursue a purpose greater than life
itself,"(http://www.fortebowie.com/p/bio.html).

When first listening to a mixtape or album, the first song says a lot to me. It says either I will continue to listen to this album, or I call it straight garbage and then I'm back to watching Cartoon Network. I downloaded Hip Hop Artist, A&R's "Cool is Where I Live" Mixtape, and I knew right off the back he was worth doing an article on. His song "Greatness", which is the first track off of the mixtape and starts off with a Muhammad Ali quote, grasped my attention in such a way that made me feel like i was back in the 90s listening to real HIP HOP. You know, that feeling you get when everything just seems good and life it self is going to be alright. "Greatness" explains the many ways "Antonio 'A&R Richardson" is dope. I find this very much more worth listening too then someone singing about "bitches" and "hoes". It may go over your head for you simple minded people but don't worry, he breaks down every lyrical sentence to your understanding. That's a true Artist. Believe me when I say, Hip Hop artist A&R is the epitome of D.O.P.E. More favorites of mine off of his "Cool is Where I Live" mixtape are "Roll with the Winners" and "M.F.M.B (Move Forward or Move BacK) ft. M.E. & A.Z.; track 02. Download Link at the bottom of page.

It's hard to find originality in this 21st century. Although original, he does remind me of a mixture of B.O.B and Ice-Cube. I'm not one to compare, but all I'm saying is he is definitely up there with the highly talented and historically great. I don't like to put a lot of artist in the category of "Lyricist", but if anyone makes it to Sounds FoReal.com, just know they are a true Lyrical Hip Hop Artist. I vouch for A&R when I say he belongs in that category. He officially put St. Paul, MN on the map with is "His-Story" mixtape. I got my Sounds FoReal.com team out here in NC bobbin' their heads to that. (FOR REAL) The song that caught my attention is "Straightn up For Tomorrow" off of his "His-Story" mixtape; track 01. To Download His-Story, click on the link at the bottom of the page. It only takes a few seconds people!
"I'm a kid from St. Paul, Minnesota. I grew up a sports fanatic who
idolized people like Jerry Rice and Magic Johnson. I always thought I
would be a professional athlete, but when I was 13 years old I was
diagnosed with a condition called Graves Disease and a heart murmur that
stopped me from playing all sports and nearly took me out. Because of
that, I turned my focus to another passion that I started developing at 9
years old. That passion is music. Music changed my life, it gave me a
voice, it moved me in the most incredible way." ~Antonion "A & R" Richardson (Continue reading on his home page at http://www.ionlygetbetter.com/)
Andy Higgins was recommended to me from a friend of mine. He said Andy Higgins was dope, and I was like "eh, we'll see". Everyone is claiming to be a rapper but after listening to Andy Higgins, I can put him under the label of a true HIP HOP ARTIST. I checked his music out and he is worth the listen. His latest mixtape, "Pyro Maniac (Prelude to Clouds of Smoke)", is a mixtape with plenty of lyricism for you to say to yourself "DAMN, THIS DUDE IS D.O.P.E." Andy Higgins does a remix to several hot beats including "6 foot 7 foot, Cabin Fever, and 600 Benz".

The mixtape that caught my ultimate attention is his "Blunts on a textbook mixtape". It showed his versatile style and lyrical genius. Originality is a very important factor for me when checking out an artist. Andy Higgins and his production team definitely had my damn jaw to the floor on "Blunts on a textbook mixtape". Coming out of Fayetteville, NC and making music like this is not common. Many people here in Fayetteville are into that "dope slanging", "got ya girl on my dick cause i like raveoli", "swag, swag, and oh I let's get high" type of lyrics. Truth!, is what is written and found in the music of Andy Higgins. My favorite song on the mixtape is "LA Girl". This is not just because I rep. Los Angeles (323), but because it's what a lot of women of this generation represents. It's definitely feel good, party song. (and I'm a chic so of course I would love this song) I can honestly say I'm looking forward to Andy Higgins spring release of "Blunts on a textbook mixtape vol. 2" so be on the lookout for that in mid March. I do believe hip-hop is not dead, but hidden. If you truly dig for it, you will find it. Believe me when I say, Andy Higgins is HIP-HOP.
Higgins is an up and coming, unsigned hip-hop artist from Fayetteville, NC.
Andy's music is a direct reflection of his inner emotions. His music style is
developed from a wide range of genres such as classic rock, alternative rock,
alternative rap/hip-hop, funk, and pop. Andy's music is unlike anything out
now, he brings such raw emotion and outrageous amounts of energy to every piece
of work he gets his hands on. Andy has put out three mix tapes thus far: The
Collision Course, Blunts On A Textbook, and The PyroManiac (in chronological
order). Each mix tape shows a different side of Andy and with a great variety
of songs it would be hard not to capture any listener's ear. Andy's lyrics are
thought provoking and metaphorically he is on the upper end of the scale. His
fan base consists of people throughout the US and even extending into other
countries like the UK and Canada. Andy's main goal is to get his music to reach
as many as possible.
