Bill O'Reilly aired a segment on his show in which he talked about Sesame Street satirizing Fox News by referring to them as Pox News. After the jump, watch as the No Spinner talks with a Muppet called Spill O'Reilly and try to figure out which one is the Muppet.

How did Katie Couric celebrate her first night as the first female evening new anchor in 2006? By boogeying down at a party on the roof at Manhattan's Hudson Hotel. Gawker's been all over the pics which show the CBS News gal shaking her $15 million money-maker.

We've always been a big fan of Couric (sorry, Ms. Palin) and like her just a little more after seeing that she can shake her groove thang better than either BriWi or Charlie Gibson. Or Diane Sawyer for that matter.

An Unmployed Lou Dobbs Hints At Run For Big Job

Lou Dobbs showed up on The Daily Show last night where his entrance was given a soundtrack by a Mexican mariachi band. He revealed to Jon Stewart that CNN told him the network was going to move away from advocacy journalism and more toward "middle of the road journalism," something he wasn;t too keen on.

Dobbs is now gone from CNN and word comes today that Dobbs might consider a run for the presidency. Yes, we've all heard this many times before, but this time it sounds like it might just happen. He is, after all, currently out of a job. This is what he had to say about the matter:

"I am ruling nothing out. ... I have come to no conclusions and no decisions," he said. "Do I seek to have some influence on public policy? Absolutely. Do I seek to represent and champion the middle class in this country and those who aspire to it? Absolutely. And I will."

That's a yes if I've ever heard one.

Over a year later and Sarah Palin is still trying to spin her disasterous interview with Katie Couric. The former Alaskan governor will unveil a new book to the world which should provide the blogosphere plenty of fodder over the next few weeks.

In her new book, Palin calls the CBS anchoress "badgering" describes her as someone who suffers from "low self-esteem” mainly because her troubled evening news "assignment wasn’t going very well." Such a subtle attacks.

By the third week in September, a “Free Sarah” campaign was under way and the press at large was growing increasingly critical of the McCain camp’s decision to keep me, my family and friends back home, and my governor’s staff all bottled up. Meanwhile, the question of which news outlet would land the first interview was a big deal, as it always is with a major party candidate.

From the beginning, Nicolle [Wallace] pushed for Katie Couric and the CBS Evening News. The campaign’s general strategy involved coming out with a network anchor, someone they felt had treated John well on the trail thus far. My suggestion was that we be consistent with that strategy and start talking to outlets like FOX and the Wall Street Journal. I really didn’t have a say in which press I was going to talk to, but for some reason Nicolle seemed compelled to get me on the Katie bandwagon.

“Katie really likes you,” she said to me one day. “she’s a working mom and admires you as a working mom. She has teenage daughter like you. She just relates to you,” Nicolle said. “believe me, I know her very well. I’ve worked with her.” Nicolle had left her gig at CBS just a few months earlier to hook up with the McCain campaign. I had to trust her experience, as she had dealt with national politics more than I had. But something always struck me as peculiar about the way she recalled her days in the White House, when she was speaking on behalf of President George W. Bush. She didn't have much to say that was positive about her former boss or the job in general. Whenever I wanted to give a shout-out to the White House’s homeland security efforts after 9/11, we were told we couldn’t do it. I didn’t know if that was Nicolle’s call.

Nicolle went on to explain that Katie really needed a career boost. “She just has such low self-esteem,” Nicolle said. She added that Katie was going through a tough time. “She just feels she can’t trust anybody.”

I was thinking, And this has to do with John McCain’s campaign how?

Nicolle said. “She wants you to like her.”

Hearing all that, I almost started to feel sorry for her. Katie had tried to make a bold move from lively morning gal to serious anchor, but the new assignment wasn’t going very well.

“You know what? We’ll schedule a segment with her,” Nicolle said. “If it doesn’t go well, if there’s no chemistry, we won’t do any others.”

Meanwhile, the media blackout continued. It got so bad that a couple of times I had a friend in Anchorage track down phone numbers for me, and then I snuck in calls to folks like Rush Limbaugh, Laura Ingraham, Sean Hannity and someone I thought was Larry Kudlow but turned out to be Neil Cavuto’s producer. I had a friend call Bill O’Reilly after I was inundated with supporters in Alaska asking why the campaign was “ignoring” his on-air requests for a McCain campaign interview. I had another friend scrambling to find Mark Levin’s number. Aboard the campaign plane I was within twenty-five feet of reporters for hours on end. Headquarters’ strategy was that I should not go to the back of the aircraft and talk to the press. At first this was subtle, but as the campaign wore on, Tracey or Tucker would call headquarters to request permission, and someone in DC would respond, “No! Absolutely not- block her if she tries to go back.”

Last Night on "Inappropriate King Live"...

What a very bizarre moment on "Larry King Live" last night. Beauty pageant contestant/Christian/sex tape star Carrie Prejean showed up via satellite to hawk her new book and keep her 15 minutes on life support. Things were going fine between her and King - that is until the CNNer asked why she decided to settle her lawsuit against the Miss USA pageant. Prejean accused him of "inappropriate," removed her mic and just sat there talking to someone off camera and while King tried to get her attention.

They say that there's a first time for everything and we just witnessed the latest: The mother of all softball interviewers was actually accused of being inappropriate.

BriWi: "Fuggedaboutit"

"30 Rock" is one of the best shows on television at the moment. Sure it's weekly product placements can get pretty annoying (Cisco's networking gear was this past week's plot-driven advertiser) but the show is well-written, witty and consistently funny. The show also tends to promote within the NBC family by having NBC News anchors pop in at any given time. In the past we've seen Matt Lauer, Larry King and Meredith Vieria make cameos but the guy who has seemingly been making the most appearances on the show is Brian Williams.

To Out or Not To Out?

Over the last few years, the blogosphere has been abuzz with talk about Anderson Cooper's sexuality. If you read any of the posts form these blogs, you'll learn that the he has dated numerous men from an MTV reality star to the owner of a trendy bar in NYC's East Village. But the CNN matinee idol has never publicly claimed that he's gay. PopEater asked a few bloggers and editors about outing the famous journo. Perez Hilton, Out Magazine's Aaron Hicklin and Brian Moylan of Gawker all chime in.

Moylan makes the most interesting remark about the subject. He says:

"The most recent things we've done haven't outed him whatsoever. He outs himself by going on vacation with his boyfriend. He's a public figure, like it or not, and if he's going to lead the life of a openly gay person, then he is, in fact, outing himself."

Is Moylan spot on with his observation or is it just a justification for him to write about Coop's romantic life? We'll leave it for you to decide...

On a Morning Show Far, Far Away

Typically, the entire on-air crew of the Today Show goes all out for Halloween with lavish a set and grand costume's. Last year's fairy tale theme was no exception. This year's theme was especially exciting as it is based on one of my all-time favorite films series: The Star Wars films.

My inner geek was super stoked to see Meredith Vieira dressed as Princess Leia, Matt Lauer as Luke Skywalker and Ann Curry as Darth Vader horded alongside frisky Ewoks, authentic props from the movies and Hoda Kotb as Yoda dressed in heels.

Lou Dobbs Might Be In Danger

Someone's out to get Lou Dobbs. The CNNer, who has always been a strong supporter of strengthening thew US borders, told listeners of his talk radio show that shots were fired at his New Jersey home earlier this month. No one was hurt but bullets did penetrate the attic. Said Dobbs:

"Three weeks ago this morning, a shot was fired at my house where I live. My wife was standing outside and that followed weeks and weeks of threatening phone calls."

Police are looking into the incident. I wonder if this will force him re-think his strong anti-gun control stance.

TJ Holmes Is A Real American Role Model

TJ Holmes is one of my favorite daytime anchors and not simply due to his unintentionally funny tweets. He's poised, professional, and has a terrific sense of humor. He also realizes that importance of being a role model. He recently told EuroWeb:

“I think we all have a responsibility to our communities, no matter what field we happen to be in … whether you’re a teacher, a coach, a local florist, [or a] mailman, whatever. Our responsibility is to live an exemplary life...Yes, I devote a lot of my personal time to community events, non-profit organization, etc., but even if I didn’t, I still think I can serve my community by setting a good example for young people. Simply seeing a young, Black, college-educated man working as an anchor on the world’s premiere news network can serve to inspire young Black kids and give them something to aspire to.”

What a guy, right? And for those of you who are wondering, he's a taken man who plans to take the plunge in 2010.

Russ Mitchell Kills For One Night Only

I groaned out loud (rather loudly) when we first heard that CBS's Russ Mitchell would attempt stand-up as part of the Early Show's "Name in Lights" feature. He's gonna be pretty awful, I thought. Even after hearing him tell an already outdated balloon Boy joke, I changed my mind after watching the clip of him doing his thing up on stage. While he shouldn't quit his day job, he's funnier than certain unnamed famous stand-up comedians who, after watching their act, leave me scratching my head (*cough* Dane Cook *cough*) as to what made them popular to begin with.

Being his characteristically overly dramatic self, Glenn Beck has hired armed guards to protect him. From who, we have no idea.
ESPN's Steve Phillips has been cheating on his wife with a 22-year old girl who claims she is "not stupid." Click here to read the letter she wrote to Philips' wife and decide for yourself if you think she is or isn't. I know I've already made up my mind.
The White House showed recently dissed Fox News and it appears as if the network is using their words against them. "Not White House approved" could very well be the new "Fair & Balanced."
According to BriWI, the twin towers are still standing and they're located in New Jersey.
Rachel Maddow is going after Liz Cheney.
Rumor has it that ABC is looking to replace Diane Sawyer with someone born with male chromosomes. My brain is still betting on Chris Cuomo, but my heart is pushing for David Muir and his perfect hair.
Erica Hill is pregnant and the one person we're certain is not the father is her BFF Anderson Cooper.

Anderson Cooper As Sick of The Balloon Boy Story As Everyone Else

The clock is ticking away on the Balloon Boy family's 15 minutes. We didn't think we'd be talking about this non-story, but here we are. People are still talking about them including Soup Cans fave Anderson Cooper, who seems to be as outraged by the family's evident lies and the absurdity of everyone and everything involved with it.

The CNN matinee idol and his BFF Erica Hill chat about the Heenes family's morning news program appearances last week and Balloon Boy's on air vomit sessions during said appearances. Cooper points out exactly what I thought when I saw the clip of the family on The Today Show: "no one seems to acknowledge that this boy is throwing up on national TV, not even Meredith Vieira." Still when Balloon Boy threw up while on Good Morning America, Diane Sawyer seemed to point out that he was looking pretty sick. Cooper proclaimed: "Thank God for Diane Sawyer." Thank God indeed.

Wolf Blitzer Catches The Balloon Boy Family in a Lie

Like most people who were in front of their televisions this afternoon, we were glued to our set watching the runaway experimental helium balloon soar through the skies of eastern Colorado all the while assuming their was an Innocent 6-year old boy trapped inside a box attached to the machine. After the balloon landed in an empty field (funny enough CNN repeatedly said they would not air the impact of the balloon, but changed their minds once it was clear that it would descend gently to the ground) turns out the balloon was boy-less. So where was he? Turns out he was hiding in his parents' garage. People were immediately suspicious and even old reliable yellow journo Matty Drudge splashed a headline on this Website proclaiming that the entire charade was a "hoax."

The boy, Falcon Keene, and his family popped up on CNN and Wolf Blitzer did his best to find out exactly what happened. It looks like Wolfy may have caught the family in a lie.

When Wolf asked daddy Keene to ask Falcon if he heard the family screaming his name during the search, the little guy said he did. There was no need for Wolfy to provide the follow-up question. Daddy Keene did it himself. "Why didn't you come out?" he asked. Falcon response: "you guys said that we did this for a show."

Wolf later asked the father to have the kid elaborate his statements but Daddy Keene went into an overly defensive diatribe about the media.

Yeah, we're thinking the same thing, Drudge: Hoax.

Jon + Nancy Grace = Hate

We thought we'd escape 2009 with never having to write an entry about Jon and Kate Gosselin. We were dead wrong.

Yesterday, HLN's Nancy Grace popped over to "The Insider" (flashy graphics, dramatic music heavy and all) to confront the reality TV star dad we all love to hate, Jon Gosselin, and said what everyone in America has been dying to say to him for months.

Spitting her characteristic venom (and sounding very much like an audience member form the old Rikki lake show), Grace called Jon and his possum-haired wife "self-absorbed husband and wife who argue constantly in front of their children." But as anyone who has watched her show on HLN knows, Grace has the uncanny ability to wear more than one hat. This time she also played armchair therapist by calmly asking Jon why, after some other panelist (can they still be referred to as panelists if they're on a tabloid show?) poses a question to him about his children, he make it all about himself. Self-absorbed indeed. Bravo, Nancy!

The US Almost Had A Suregon General With Swine Flu

When we first heard that Dr. Sanjay Gupta was sick with H1N1 (better known by it's more outrageous name: swine flu!!), our first thought was that he'd bee been hanging out with Harry Smith in his Manhattan home. Turns out he contracted the bug while traveling on assignment through Afghanistan. Dr. G, who apparently takes great care of himself, had this to say about getting hit with the flu: "I am not someone who gets sick, really ever. And this was the sickest I have ever been." And, like Smith, Dr. G is telling the entire world about. Hey, it's all about the ratings, y'all!

But it appears as if he wasn't the only CNN talking head at risk of getting the disease. Everyone's favorite silver-haired world traveler was also in Afghanistan the same time. Dr. G told Anderson Cooper: "...Frankly speaking we can talk about this now via satellite... but there's a good chance... that you also had H1N1 virus infection."

Flu season has yet to officially begin but once it does it will also mark the beginning of what will be this year's most popular guessing game: Who will be the next news person to become infected with H1N1?
