Even if you’re not a gardener yourself, February is a great month to look up your local small farms, pay them a visit to see what seeds they offer this year, and maybe get a peek at their greenhouses.  In Alberta, you could check out Kuhlmann’s Market Gardens, or The Enjoy Centre.  If you are in Brandon, Manitoba, you should visit Aagaard Farms, which is advertising their participation in the up-coming Seedy Sunday event this March.

Why do we mention Aagaard Farms in particular? For one thing, we just found out that Aagaard Farms loves Souptacular!  When we read about Aagaard Farms from their blog, we realized they are a PERFECT fit with Souptacular soups:  fresh produce, grown locally, sustainably, and organically are ALWAYS a great addition to our soup-er healthy soup pouches. We found Souptacular soups to be hearty, nutritious and of exceptional taste. Hosting an Office Party is a fun way to introduce Souptacular to your work friends.

How It Works:

The ‘Office Host’ collects as many office friends and collegues as possible, usually over a lunch period. I will present EVERY product available on the website, including our soup seasonings, and newer products like the Cracked Peppercorn and Tandoori Hot Pot. We discuss each product, offer EASY slow cooker tips, hand out recipes, and even discuss Weight Watcher points (which are completely amazing)!!

Your friends will all recieve order forms. Everyone may place their order during the Office Party, or just take the information home for future reference!
Orders received at the Office Party will be completed and returned back to your office within a week – and the Host recieves a Free Soup-er Tube for inviting Souptacular!

Souptacular’s recipe contest judge, Jenni, tested the best contest entrants from our soup recipe contest.  She selected Carol Haley’s recipe, and provided these comments:

“This soup was very easy to put together.  The addition of the meat and veggies really made it a meal in itself. The ginger has so many great health benefits that it makes a great addition for both health and flavour.  The ginger gave it a lovely flavour that I might use a little more next time I make it! All in all, this recipe is a fabulous way to change up Souptacular’s Tandoori Hot Pot.”

With the festive season upon us, what better time to try a new recipe – with a few different elements for variety – to use up those leftovers!? We hope you like the winning recipe as much as we did!

Carol Haley’s recipe for ”Stretching the Chicken”

This recipe makes use of the carcass left over from a roast chicken or turkey and allows you to “stretch the chicken” into one more meal!

Ingredients:

• Souptacular Tandoori Soup
• coconut milk
• Roast chicken or turkey carcass
• chopped veggies (use fresh or leftovers)
• 2 tsp grated ginger
• 1/4 c. chopped parsley
• 1/4 c. chopped fresh basil
• 1 can (400 ml) of coconut milk

Instructions:

Cover chicken/turkey bones with water and simmer on stove or in crockpot until remaining meat falls off the bones.  Remove meat from bones and discard bones.  Add Souptacular Tandoori Soup and simmer for 2 hours on stove. During the last 20 minutes, add chopped veggies (great way to use up leftovers), and simmer until tender.  Add ginger, parsley, basil (or 2 tsp dried basil) and coconut milk (use regular or light).  Season to taste and enjoy!

THANK YOU! What a nice gift to win, considering Souptacular soups are my absolute favorite! I have tried them all and enjoy them all, but I must confess the Tandoori Hot Pot is my favorite. That’s why I will be ordering 6 more Tandoori Hot Pot soups for my winnings!

We enjoy spicy food, and adding some sauteed chunky vegetables, such as peppers & onions, with prawns and white chicken meat to a pot of the Tandoori Hot Pot soup makes a lovely meal. We just have to add a garden salad on the side!
