I was fortunate to visit Austin, TX a few months ago and I loved the culinary, art, and music scenes happening there. One thing that I was not prepared for was Austin’s significant homeless population.

I wanted to learn more about what was happening in Austin, what was happening to the homeless people in the city, and how the local government plans to help the people living in the streets.

Google Cloud CEO Diane Greene stepped down a few weeks ago. Greene was executing against a strategy that started to receive public outcry from Google employees over military applications of their technology.

Many believe this reaction to be the primacy cause for her departure.

Amazon announced the winner(s) of their HQ2 RFP. The company is splitting their HQ between two areas: New York City and the Metro DC Area (Arlington, VA). The company also announced a logistics center in Nashville, TN which will bring 5,000 jobs to that area.

While many are celebrating, there are some locals concerned about what troubles Amazon is bringing to their hometowns.

The Department of Defense has a cloud project named “Joint Enterprise Defense Infrastructure” or JEDI for short. Cloud providers like IBM, Google, and Microsoft all want a piece of this $10 BILLION DOLLAR pie, but Amazon seems poised to win much to Oracle’s disgust.

As final proposals were expected to be submitted, Google dropped out and Microsoft employees are urging the company to do the same.  What is going on with JEDI?  Listen to find out.

California is developing their own net neutrality protections, they are forcing IoT device makers to ship devices with better passwords, and they want to make sure bots don’t fool you.
