On February 14th, Sourcefabric will announce a tool for book production and export to iPad, Kindle, Nook and more via epub, mobi, odt, html and pdf. The free, open source platform will cover the entire book production workflow from collaborative writing and editing, to fully customisable output and design.

William Hernán Gómez González of Columbia has won the 2011 Newscoop Theme Contest with his design Alegría. Despite tough competition from around the globe William's entry came out on top. The jury were looking for designs that explored the potentials of headlines, pictures, videos, audio, widgets, banners, reader interaction and more - all within the context of a modern news site.

Sourcefabric have received a Knight-Batten Award for Innovations in Journalism for their work on the new West Africa Democracy Radio platform. The prize rewards news and information ideas that significantly enhance opportunities for digital engagement. Other winners this year include Storify, NPR, Guardian Data and Bloomberg Government.
