Planted some rows of Aji Dulce (Aji Cachucha)

Balcony's are a great source for growing food if you life in a condo but you need to be facing the right direction to get enough sun.

Below you can see a .15th of an acre lot back yard. It all started with just tomatoes and watermelons and now there are worms, chickens, bees, veggies, herbs, and fruit trees.

While reading up on Japans issues with the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear facility I found an article on Naturalnews.com that they are in talks with Russia trying to plan out a mass evacuation.

I have been talking about this since the problems started.

They need to evacuate yesterday to neighboring countries before its too late. (Mass DEATH)

From hobby to way of life : Rebuilding An Ecosystem

I once had a huge "Rose Apple (Syzygium Jambos)"tree that covered my entire yard, back in the 1980's, but after Hurricane Andrew it was tipped over and lost to termites. After that disaster, my parents decided not to plant any more trees in the backyard leaving the large baren lot you see below.

After running into hardship and loosing my home, I was forced to move back in with my mother. I started rebuilding the yard as a hobby. I read up on sustainable living and it lead me to Organic Gardening and Urban-Homesteading.

Starting your own Garden is very rewarding.

After my initial limited success, I decided I wanted to grow my harvest and started looking into pollination. I joined the Broward Beekeepers Association and became an Urban Beekeeper. Adopt a Beekeeper was born! (Save the Bees!)

I was lucky to find a mentor that was nice enough to show me the ropes of beekeeping
Here is David Salazar and I at a Beekeepers 101workshop for the South Miami Farmers Market I put together.

It was such a fun day a lot of Bee info for all the visitors.

Soon after, the farm started to flourish.

Thanks to EPS Organics for their support with 18 cubic yards of compost, I was able to start building the ecosystem and South Florida Survival was born!

Shoveling 18 Cubic Yards of Compost took me a couple of days.

It was time to rebuild the ecosystem, I decided to call it my micro farm but this was what urban homesteading was all about.

Needed some shade for all the other plants so I started with Papaya
