Rating : 3/5

Cast & Crew : lakshmi Prasanna,Tapsee,Sandeep Krishna,Adhi

Banner : Manchu Entertainments

Music : Ilayaraja

Direction : Kumar Nagendra

What is Gundello Godari Story ?

The story is set in the backdrop of 1986 floods. The movie opens with Malli (Aadi Pinnisetty) and Chitra (Lakshmi Manchu) in wedding wear and about to get married. Just then, floods hit the village and scatter everybody. Malli and Chitra gets stranded on a heap of grass and waits for some one to rescue their lives. Slowly they start to break out about their past lives to each other and then comes Suri (Sandeep Kishan) and Sarala (Tapsee) in to the picture. What is that about and how they get save forms the rest of the story.

How they performed?:

Lakshmi Manchu is the show stealer of the four people. Her acting is nothing sort of the word wonderful and lived up to the name of her father. She even put a great deal of hard work in the Godavari accent and managed it perfectly. Tapsee is super beautiful in the attire of a village girl. The tinge of arrogance needed for a rich girl is efficiently managed. This character will be an important milestone in her filmography.

Aadi Pinnisetty is great as usual as a fisher man and he also managed to have the rugged look as demanded by the character. Sandeep Kishan gets a very limited role and he is okay. Rest of them are good to their abilities.

Technical Performances:

The movie subject is not any alien. It is quite simple but the backdrop selected is a bit new and different. Debutant Kumar Nagendra had stumbled up on the treatment of the story. There are many unexplained loose ends of the movie which disrupt the audience from enjoying the movie. The screenplay goes wayward and the narration becomes pathetically slow in the second half. Also the entertainment part is very low.

All the songs composed by Ilayaraja are situational and the rerecording engrosses the audience in to the mood of the story. Kudos to the grand old man! Editing by Nagi Reddy could have been a lot better. Cinematography by Palani Kumar is awesome and art work by Murali Kondeit is quite natural.

Final Say:

The director had failed to weave the story well between the four people involved. The technical departments are taken good care of but the all important narration is neglected which eventually tests the patience of the audience with its snail pace. Finally, Gundello Godari is a decent watch provided you can manage the sluggish narration. We will have to see how it performs at the box office!

Rating: 2.25/5

Cast : Sunil, Isha Chawla, Vincent, Ravi Babu, Ali and others

Mr.Pellikoduku Story: Buchi Babu (Sunil) is an NRI who comes to India to get married. His parents set off looking matches for him. In the process, he goes to see Anjali (Isha Chawla). He falls for her instantly and says okay for the match. Later he comes to know that she is already in love with some one and breaks the marriage on her request. But Buchi Babu could not take his heart away from her. Few weeks later, he meets Anjali once again in a marriage and the rest of the story is about the happenings and twists that take place in their lives.

How they performed?:

Sunil is usual with his comic timing and performance. His dances are electrifying and will definitely play big role in making this film a hit. Lot of hard work is put in by him. His training for six pack abs took a heavy toll on his face, he should immediately look out for some way to bring his face back to shape. His make up in the movie is too bad.

Isha Chawla is good. Ali as Bachi, Dharmavarapu Subrahmanyam as Buchi Babu’s father. Ravi Babu as comedy villain, MS Narayana as Narayana have contributed their parts. Rest of them are all okay.

Technical Performances:

Mr.Pellikoduku is the official remake of Bollywood super hit movie, Tanu weds Manu. Director Devi Prasad had made some changes in the movie to suit our nativity. The changes are more in the second half in which more melodrama scenes are added. The proceedings get slowed in the second half. And the songs come very too often and disrupt the flow of the movie. The scenes between Madhavan and Kangana Ranaut are major highlight of the original but that kind of chemistry is missing here.

SA Raj Kumar’s music and rerecording is aweful. Sameer Reddy’s cinematography is okay. Editing by Nandamuri Hari should have been a lot better in the second half.

Final Say:

Comedy worked out to some extent in the first half complimented by some good dances. The second half of the movie has too much of melodrama stuff which slow down the pace of the movie. Added to it, the misplaced songs hamper the pace further. On a whole, Mr.Pellikoduku is really bad stuff. Watch it at your own risk.

Both of them fail in their respective businesses as they are both incomplete without the other. Finally what happens in their lives forms the rest of the story.

How did they perform?

Siddharth who has shelled himself in genre of only love stories had tried mass comedy in the movie and used tapori kinda slang. But the role did not suit the actor and he appeared to have gone overboard in several occasions. Samantha looked extremely beautiful and rendered a good performance. Nitya Menon is good too in the special appearance. Sri Hari in the role of Don Javed Bhai as always lived up to the expectations. There are numerous other artists like Thagubothu Ramesh, Telangana Sakuntala, Dharmavarapu Subramanyam, Uttej are good.

Sunil had rendered voice over for the introduction of Siddharth in the movie. Prince played a little cameo.

Technical aspects:

Jabardast is the second movie of director Nandini Reddy. Her first movie Ala Modhalindhi is well received due to freshness in the script. But just in the gap 2 years, she seem to have lost the track. Jabardast is a rip off of Bollywood blockbuster movie, Band Baaja Baraat. The director even went on to lift several scenes directly from the movie. However, she had done good work in blending our nativity to the script. Even for the rip off, the screenplay is not up to the mark which only slowed the proceedings.

Thaman had come up with good numbers for the movie and the back ground score is just okay. The back ground score which comes in the climax is also an exact rip off from Band Baaja Baraat. Sameer Reddy’s cinematography is excellent. Nandamuri Hari’s scissors should have worked better.

Final Say:

Saddest part of the entire story is UTV had bagged the rights of Band Baaja Baraat and it was announced that Nani will be playing the lead role in the Telugu remake. And now about 80% of the movie is mercilessly lifted by Nandini Reddy. Tragedy is several scenes were used as it is in this movie. The saddest part of this entire episode is Nandini Reddy even failed to execute the script perfectly after all this harakiri.

For the people who already watched Band Baaja Baraat, Jabardast will be the worst possible remake/free make of the movie. And for the rest of the people, its a below average fare.
Rating: 3/5

Cast :- Prabhas,Richa Gangopadhyay,Anushka,Brahmanandam
Banner :- UV Creations
Producer :- Vamsi-Promod
Stroy Direction :- Koratala Shiva
Music :- Devi Sri Prasad
Cinematographer: Madhie
Art: AS Prakash
Editor: Kotagiri Venkateswar Rao

Synopsis:

Jai (Prabhas) is a fun loving youngster who works as an architect in Italy. He lives there happily and then he falls flat for Manasa (Richa Gangopadhyay) who studies MS there. To convince her parents for marriage, Jai lands in India. After much struggle, he manages to impress them and then his past related to Vennela (Anushka) who is his Mardalu is revealed. Both the families are rivals in faction. What happens next forms the actual story.

How did they perform?:

Prabhas looks cool in foreign land. His dialogue delivery is contrived as a posh guy. Back in India, he looks convincingly good. He displayed right emotions in the action sequences and his dialogue delivery in emotional scenes have also improved. Koratala Siva had shown him exactly in the way fans wanted to see him. He had put good efforts in dances too. Anushka looked cute on screen and the chemistry between Anushka and Prabhas worked out very well. Richa Gangopadhyay looked completely out of shape. She did not suit Prabhas in any ways. She had a little role in the movie and her performance is just okay.

Brahmanandham as Veera Pratap is not fully utilized. Sampath had got a crucial role and his performance is good as Protagonist. Satyaraj, Nagineedu, Raghu Babu, Kasi Viswanath are good in the roles they are offered. Rest of them are okay.

Technical Performances:

Mirchi is the debut directorial venture of Koratala Siva. He seem to have a script which is an amalgamation of several movies in Telugu like Athidhi, Bhadra and Krishna. He is successful as writer as always and had written some very good dialogues for Prabhas But the director in him failed to make a mark. The execution part of the movie is bad. He had unnecessarily embedded too much of action part in the movie which foiled the flow of the part. If rightly dealt, the movie would have been a good family entertainer.

Devi Sri Prasad’s songs are chart busters. They are shot well too. The re-recording is taken good care of. Madhie’s cinematography is just okay and the grading is excellent. Kotagiri’s Editing could have been a lot better.

Final Say:

The first half of the movie started promisingly but progresses with out any excitement The interval bang is predictive again. The entertainment part is good but not great. The second half of the movie goes wayward with too many of unnecessary action sequences disrupting the flow of the movie. The pace of the movie slowed down gradually as the movie approaches climax. The climax fight is dragged too.

Finally, Mirchi is a good script let down by bad execution. Prabhas’ ubercool looks, heroism elevation scenes is the saving grace of movie and makes it a one time watch!

Ongole Gitta is the story of White (Ram) who
does business in Guntur Mirchi Yard. Adhikeshavulu (Prakash Raj) is the
Chairman of that market yard. When things goes on like this, White comes to
know about his bitter past in which Adhikeshavulu topples Ram’s father (Prabhu)
from the post of Market Yard chairman. And the rest of the story is all about
what Ram does to avenge his past and the confrontation between him and
Adhikeshavulu.

Ram is good in the role of White alias Dorababu.
His character is a mix of his normal energy and shades of Bhaskar’s hero. There
is a lot of maturity in his acting. As usual his dances are rocking and his
performance in action sequences is admirable. Kriti Kharbhanda is super
gorgeous and looked awesome on screen. Her acting skills are good. Unlike
earlier Bhaskar movies, this movie do not have much of importance in the movie.

Prakash Raj is super cool in the character with
grey shades. He carried out the role with grace but the nude scenes of him are
totally unwanted and are irritating. Raghu Babu and TV9 Kishore Das’ comedy is
good. Ali comedy is raw and massy. Jaya Prakash Reddy is good in a brief role
as Prakash Raj’s father.

Technical Departments:

Love stories touching subtle human emotions are
forte of Bhaskar since his debut. But he tread to a different path with this
movie. The story line is a routine revenge story which was touched in numerous
movies in the past. However, Bhaskar was not fully successful in execution of
the story. There is too much of Tamil flavour every where from comedy to
fights. There are few good moments in the movie which are also overshadowed by
this. Prakash Raj’s nude scenes, Ali’s Langa Voni scenes were height in testing
the patience of the audience.

Cinematography by A.Venkatesh is good. Bhaskar
himself is a cinematographer earlier and he took care of this department with
his knowledge. Editing by Marthand K.Venkatesh could have been a lot better. GV
Prakash’s music is just average and songs are picturized well. Mani Sharma’s
back ground score is good.

Final Say:

The first half of the movie is okay with some
comedy here and there. The actual story begins only towards the Interval bang
which does nothing exciting to the already slowed down pace of the movie. The
second half starts opening in to actual story but at the same time the Tamil
flavour of the movie begins to dominate too much which does not go well with
Telugu audience. Audience are seen going out of theaters in the Morning show of
the first day. Looks like Ram had registered second failure in a trot at the
box office.

Cast :- Kamal Hassan, Pooja Kumar, Andrea Jeremiah, Rahul Bose and others
Story- Screenplay-Direction: Kamal Hassan
Producer: Kamal Hassan, Chandra Hassan
Music: Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy
Cinematography: Sanu Varghese

                                     Rating :3/5

Synopsis:

Vishwanath (Kamal Hassan), a Kathak dancer and Nirupama (Pooja Kumar), a nuclear oncologist gets married and lives in New York. It is an arranged marriage and three years of their marriage life passes with out any excitment except their career building. Vishwanath opens a dance school and Nirupama completes her Ph.D. Later, She becomes more ambitious and wants to break their marriage. She wants to show a flaw in Vishwanath and break the marriage. For this she hires a detective who later finds some shocking truths about Vishwanath. Those truths lead to a dread terrorist Omar. What is the actual story behind? What happens later forms the actual story part.

How did they perform?

Kamal Hassan excelled as usual in all the three roles. He managed good humour in the role of Vishwanath and delivered solid performance as a terrorist. No exaggeration in calling him Universal Hero.

Pooja Kumar is a surprise package. She does good and managed good comedy. Andrea Jeremiah is okay. Rahul Bose is superb as baddie. Jaideep is good as Omar’s close aide. Nasser and few others are good in the little roles they are offered.

Technical Performances:

Vishwaroopam is Kamal Hassan’s dream project. He proved himself as a director with this movie. In all the technical departments, he set a new standard to Indian cinema. The movie is almost on par with an Hollywood movie in terms of visual grandeur. But he had failed to deliver a racy screenplay which is extremely crucial for a thriller movie. The narration part goes way ward in the first half. And the screenplay is perfect in the second half.

Sanu Varghese’s camera work is the second best thing of the movie. It is absolutely splendid. Every frame looked so real and audience get a feel of Hollywood kind of movie when watching. Art work especially in the Afghan episodes looked excellent. Audience can not differentiate between set work and reality. Music by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy is good. Some parts of The Dark Knight music is used. Editing could have been better especially in the first half.

Final Say:

Vishwaroopam is miles ahead of other Indian movies in terms of technicality. But Kamal Hassan the director had failed to deliver the racy screenplay which is necessary for binding audience to a thriller. The movie does not have the commercial elements like comedy which can lure masses to theaters. Despite the narration issues, It is expected to go well with A class audience. We will have to see how they embrace it!

Rating : 3/5

Cast: Ram Charan Tej, Kajal Agarwal, Brahmanandam, Jaya Prakash Reddy, Rahul Dev, Raghu Babu, M S Narayana, Ashish Vidhyardhi, Pradeep Rawath, Ajaj Khan, Sudha, Vineeth Kumar, ‘Satyam’ Rajesh, Sravan, Gururaj, etc.
Director: VV Vinayak
Music Director: SS Thaman
Producer: Danayya, Radha Krishna
CBFC rating: A
Release Date: jan, 2013

Story :

Cherry ( Ram Charan) is a software engineer in CgTrix. He has an uncle named Jilebi (Brahmanandam), who unexpectedly runs into trouble and angers the local Don Gandipeta Babji (Rahul Dev). Cherry hatches a plan to save Jilebi from Babji and falls for Babji’s sister Madhu (Kajal) in the process.

As this is on, a series of high profile killings start taking place in Hyderabad and Kolkata. Minister Rawat (Pradeep Rawat) is targeted and Cherry finds himself taking the blame. A CBI team (led by Ashish Vidhyardhi) starts hunting for Charan and this leads to unexpected situations.

We now get to know that there is another angle to the story, involving Amala (Amala Paul). How does Cherry escape from the CBI’s clutches? Can he prove his innocence? What is the Kolkata angle? That forms the rest of the story.

Plus Points :

Ram Charan did a great job in this movie. His voice modulation is very good now. Charan is a very good dancer and this is reaffirmed yet again with Naayak. Charan’s dances in ‘Laaila o Laaila’ and ‘Hey Naayak’ are superb.

Kajal Aggarwal looks gorgeous in the movie and her scenes with Charan came out well. Amala Paul does not have too much importance in the film and her presence is limited to a few scenes and a couple of songs in the second half. But she looks great.

Brahmanandam has a meaty role as Jilebi and he entertains brilliantly. His expressions and characterization will remind you of his performance in Ravi Teja’s ‘Krishna’. Posani Krishna Murali is highly effective as a Kolkata criminal and his ‘chocolate scenes’ in the second half will leave you in splits of laughter.
M.S.Narayana is funny as a perpetually drunk CBI lip reading specialist. Jayaprakash Reddy is good as Rahul Dev’s Pedananna

The first half of the film is very good – with the right mix of comedy, action and romance. Pace is very fast and there is hardly a boring moment in the entire film. Just as the second half starts to get a little heavy on action and violence, Posani comes in and livens up the proceedings.

Songs have been shot brilliantly – especially ‘Katti lanti Pilla’, ‘Subhaleka’ and ‘Oka Choopuke Padipoya’.

Minus Points :

There is nothing much in terms of script or story and the plot will remind of you of a number of hit Telugu films. Once the twist is revealed during the interval block, you can predict the outcome. There are a few loopholes in the plot and cinematic liberties have been taken, as is the case with most masala entertainers.
The story does not move forward much in the second half and it is saved only by the high entertainment quotient. Violence is a little too graphic in the movie and it may not go down well with some sections of the audience.

Some fights are a little over the top. Climax block is not very satisfactory and it could have been handled in a much better way.

Technical Aspects :

Chota K Naidu’s cinematography is a major asset to the movie. The songs which have been shot in Iceland look spectacular. Editing is good. Dialogues have been written well, especially for the comedians. Thaman’s background score is effective.

Vinayak has a great ‘mass pulse’ and this fact is evident once again in this movie. Though there is nothing great in terms of direction or screenplay, Vinayak ensured that the film has a very high entertainment quotient with a good narration speed.

Verdict :
Naayak is a thorough entertainer. The film has some very enjoyable comedy. Good performances from Charan, Brahmanandam, Posani and M.S.Narayana give a major boost to the proceedings. On the flip side, graphic violence, a predictable script and a less than satisfactory climax spoil the flavour a bit. On the whole, Naayak is a perfect Sankranthi entertainer that has the potential to rake in lots of money at the Box Office.

Rating: 2.5/5.0

Banner: Sarvaa Arts
Cast: Sharvanand, Priya Anand, Srihari and others
Editing: Marthand .K.Venkatesh
Cinematography: Erukulla Rakesh & Naveen Yadav
Music: Shakti Kanth
Producer: Sharvanand
Written & Directed by: Anish Yohan Kuruvilla
CBFC Rating: ‘A’
Release Date: 28-12-2012

Story: Vamsi(Sharvanand) is an orphan and grows up as a thief. Vamsi meets Maaya Master(Srihari) in a jail. Vamsi falls in love with Satya(Priya Anand) a classical dance teacher, who teaches to kids and is more interested in playing public awareness dramas in rural areas. Vamsi wants to leave the profession and live happily with Satya. but destiny has other ideas for him and he becomes a part of a robbery. What happens after that is what the movie is about?

Performances: Sharvanand has come up with yet another wonderful performance. He is natural in almost all the scenes be it a romantic number or talkie part. Priya Anand is good. Srihari once again comes up with decent performance needed by the director. The remaining cast are mostly new comers. The plot of the film is good but there are plenty of loop holes in the way it’s narrated. The first half is completely scattered. The second half is better in terms of focus. Art work and Editing are good. Screenplay is weak. The Direction is good in few places.

Analysis: Anish Kuruvilla who earlier directed Avakai Biryani(2008) directed this flick. Sharvanand produced himself under “Sarvaa Arts” banner. Sharvanand and the team raised expectations with the Music, Promos and the publicity much before the movie’s release. The Movie received an ‘A’ certificate for the Violence and Coarse language used.

Sharvanand once again impresses us with his subtle yet strong performance. The romantic thread suited to him aptly as if subtle love tracks are meant for him only. Priya Anand is good. She performed well. She looked cute and homely in those cotton Punjabi suits and Sarees. Srihari is realistic, he just behaved like a thief who lives in the slum and does anything for money. The supporting artists are mostly new and looked raw.

The comedy track(drama) in the flashback episodes is boring and tests your patience. This the worst comedy thread of recent times which failed utterly in evoking laughs and is bit irritating at times. The Dialogues are okay in few places(most of the dialogues are muted which has filthy language). The Music is okay with a couple of slow numbers and the Background score(Ko ante Koti theme) was good but the rest of the BGM is loud and the re-recording overlapped the dialogues at times.

The Director and his team experimented with new screenplay very much similar to Bollywood realistic raw movies(directed by Anurag Kasyap, Vishal Baradwaj etc. The Director lost grip over the scenes in the first half and concentrated more on the behavior of the characters. Realistic movie directors like Anurag and vishal purely concentrate on the backdrop and nativity of the people and then place the character in extreme circumstances and take out the output. The back robbery was also not up to the mark. Some scenes reminded of Hindi flick Johnny Gaddar (Neil Nitin Mukesh). The director failed in making it a thrilling experience. The introduction of the Characters through Sharvanad’s voice over was good experiment.

The repeated glimpses of the flash back(black & White) love story of the hero is shown ‘n’ number of times for every 15 minutes which is boring. The whole first half- an- hour time is taken to introduce the characters. The movie slows down once the love story begins. The firts half lacks clarity. The second half is better when compared to the first one. The gang(friends) of the robbery team failed in elevating the emotional content and touch the Audience in the second half. Art work is impressive with mostly realistic locations and feel. Cinematography is okay. The songs are well shot. Editing is good. The production values are okay.

The Director and Producer(Sharvanand) should be commended for coming up with an experimental non routine flick but could have tasted success if executed well. We have to wait and watch how the Multiplex(Target) Audience receive this experiment as this movie is not for the masses.

Plus: Sharvanand, Srihari
Minus: Screenplay and Narration

Verdict: Movie disappoints due to bad execution. Keep away if you are looking for a regular commercial flick

Rating :- 2.25/5
Cast: Havish, Sanusha, R. Sarathkumar, Abhinaya, K. Viswanath, Kota Srinivasa Rao, Suman and Others
Director: Ohmkkar
Producer: Dasari Kiran Kumar
Music: Joshua Sridhar
Cinematography: Diwakaran Raghunathan
Editing : M R Varmaa
Writer: Chinnikrishna and Paruchuri Brothers

Synopsis:

Genius is the story of three close friends Nivas (Havish), Ashwin babu, Vinoth. They have a particular goal in mind and are very serious about it. Also they take three role models in the fulfillment of their dream. And later they find all their role models cheat them. They decide to teach them a lesson. And in the process, what happens and how their lives are changed forms the actual story

How they performed?

Performance seem to be a very bigger word for what the lead pair displayed on the screen. They got every thing wrong, the expressions, portraying emotions and every thing. The dubbing voice of the hero does not suit to his fragile structure and it appeared it was some dubbing movie with out any coherence between the voice and the picture on the screen. The debutant Sanusha is equally bad too.

Besides there are several other actors. Ashish Vidyardhi as Peddapuram Peddababu, a famous action hero and his son, Chinna Babu (Master Bharath), Brahmi as Pappu, Senior actor Suman as a brahmin, Tamil Super Star Sharath Babu as police officer, Nagababu as a CBI officer, Annapurna as Middle class mother, Thagubothu Ramesh in his usual drunkard role. They are all good in the roles they were offered.

Technical Performances:

Ohmmkar’s TV shows usually known for their unusual drama and exaggeration of minor things. He managed to succeed there by triggering all those. And he seem to be carrying the same to Big Screens too. But the result of this movie will teach him this is altogether a different field. There is no particular flow in the movie. He seem to have readied 3-4 scenes and started weaving around them to make a two and half hour movie. Audience can clear sense the ‘No connection’ feeling between the scenes. Dialogues by Parchuri Brothers are good and intense. Chinni Krishna’s over hype about the movie story is just a publicity stunt.

The Back ground score of the movie is good and the songs were below average. The placement of songs will test the patience of the audience. Editing is pathetic.

Final Say:

In the pretext of delivering a message, Ohmmkar tried to force in a half baked product in to audience’s throats. The movie is reportedly made with a mammoth budget and it appears like Producer’s first outing in industry is a complete mishap.

Synopsis:

Naresh (Allari Naresh) is a product of a rift between Brahma (Chalapathi Rao) and Saraswathi (Sana) due to Naradha (Naresh). Naresh is born with magical powers. As a result, Yamaja (Richa Panai), the daughter of Yamadharama Raju (Shiyaji Shinde) descends to Earth. During a stage play Naresh and Richa gets married, slowly both love each other. When everything is going fine in Naresh life Yama comes to know about their marriage. He takes his daughter back, even though she do not prefer to come. What happens next forms the actual story

How they performed?

Allari Naresh is at his best in comedy timing and his performance is good as always. Richa Panai though a first timer delivered decent performance as per the requirement of the character. Shiyaji Shinde as Yama seemed as the worst possible choice in the world for that beautiful character. Ramya Krishna looked totally out of her prime but still her screen presence is great. Master Bharath’s comedy is good. Rest of them performed okay to their roles.

Technical Performances:

E.Satti Babu is dealing with one of the most proven to be successful genre in Telugu industry but he failed totally in the execution part. The scenes between Yama and Naresh which are vital for the success of the movie were written poor too. The movie flow seem to be predictable though out with the first 15 minutes and the scenes leading to the climax becoming unbearable.

Ravindra Babu’s cinematography is okay. Graphics are not so good. Music by Koti is just average. All the songs except the remix song are poorly picturized and are misplaced too. Only the scenes between Master Bharath and Ramya Krishna seem to be the saving grace.

Final Say:

Yamudiki Mogudu did good business through out. Thanks to the good performance of Sudigadu. But some how the audience seem to be not as interested as the buyers. The openings seem to be too poor. Adding insult to the injury, the morning show cancellation added to audience’s disappointment. And after watching the movie, I feel there is not many things which will encourage the audience to go to the theaters.

You need to search for some alternative to kill your weekend!
