SOUTHSIDE FESTIVAL The Southside Festival have just released information on the 2012 Festival which is taking place this coming weekend. Lots of events on in the recreation grounds for a family day out with music and comedy elsewhere too, here's what they have to say about it all. "The big day this year is on the 26th of May and and will be followed on the 27th with "Picnic in the park". Ready Steady Grow Festival: Sunday 27 May

The inaugural Ready Steady Grow festival returns this Sunday from 1pm - 4.30pm at venues throughout Pollokshields. At Maxwell Park there will be tea and baking, Kid's Crafts and the community plant nursery will be opening at 3pm (bring plants to exchange). The New Victoria Gardens will be hosting their open day, pick up some plants at their plant sale, go on a guided tour of the allotments, stop for some tea and cake or take part in their Scarecrow making workshop. Class Struggle: Film from the Clyde: Saturday 19th May

As part of the Southside Festival, The Pearce Institute in Govan will be screening the Class Struggle: Film from the Clyde, which records the dramatic events of the UCS work-in of 1971-2 inside the shipyards. Film collective, Cinema Action, were the only film crew allowed access to the shipyards by the Shop Stewards’ Committee during the work-in. It was one of the most exciting and powerful struggles against unemployment in Britain. Just when she was about to throw in the towel Amanda was handed the role of a lifetime. The Glad Cafe will be at Streetland Festival again this year, but this time their event will be a little bit different. Their last two Streetlands events have been showcasing the local talent of Govanhill at the Pandora Bar.
