Chicago's South Side now boasts a state of the art velodrome facility at 8615 S. Burley Drive near the astonishing Lakeside Development on the Old U.S. Steel Site. When I stumbled upon this treasure driving down Route 41 I definitely had to find out more. The current facility and the planned permanent facility offer so much promise.

There's the annual Bud Billiken (Back to School) Parade to kick off your Saturday morning, then you can stroll over to the nearby, and equally fascinating, Gallery Guichard for Art di Gras VI, and if your schedule permits you can top the evening off by attending a Gala to support the South Side's newest charter school, Options, which is sponsored by the Little Black Pearl Art & Design Center.
