So, if you have ever seen the movie Tangled....You love the Horse Maximus and the little Lizard Pascal. I laughed so hard at both of them in the movie.....I MEAN....my kids said that they were funny in the movie! Because, we all know that Dads don't watch little girl movies about beautiful princesses, lots of bad guys, cool chases, jewels, major destruction and flooding....anyway. Ok I watched Tangled and loved it!! Alright are you happy?

Did I Promise or Did I Say Maybe?

Sometimes, I feel about 3 inches tall. When my wife or kids are asking me about things or if we can do things I may say...maybe....we'll see....yes....no....but most of the time I NEVER promise unless pressed to do so. Why is it that EVERY time... I get those words...YOU PROMISED! No, I am pretty sure that I said we'll see or I said Maybe! I feel like such a turd when this is thrown in my face. I would like to do all of the things that other's would like to do, but just do not have enough time in my day.

Now, I guess the next question is how to get this point across...without hearing ...YOU PROMISED WE WOULDN'T HAVE TO TALK ABOUT THIS!! I am joking right now but. I don't want my children to really believe that I am breaking promises to them. I need to get the point across as to what a promise is and what does maybe or we'll see mean. If they think that I am not following through on my end of the deal, it could change the way that they carry themselves throughout the rest of their lives. Do I just explain this over and over knowing full well that the next time I say we'll see or maybe again...I promised?

Oh the DRAMA! I am confusing myself...I Promise!!

So I received some amazing products for men from Dove to try out. I have been trying these items for the last month to be able to give my honest opinion.

I can honestly say that I am impressed with the whole set that I received. The Dove Men + Care Sensitive Clean Body and Face wash is my new favorite. I have battled dry skin my entire life and have even been on medicine's for it especially toward the fall and winter months. My skin is not dry and itching and it just has an overall healthy feeling. I also like The new Dove Men + Care Deodorant. I have had deodorants in the past that were pretty harsh under the arm. Some would even burn or breakout. I have had no issue like this at all and even still feel fresh after a twelve hour day at work. So why is it that everywhere we go, people tell us that our kids are the best kids...they are so well mannered....your kids are so much better than the kids that were here earlier.STOP!! I will let you in on a little secret...rewind to five minutes before we walked into where we were going. I swear if you two act a fool in this place, I will get you...I PROMISE!..or..If I have to say your name one time in here I will take back every Christmas present, YES even the one's Santa brought you...or...if you see this look while we are in here, you have had it when we leave! Kids DO WHAT I SAY OR ELSE!!!! Ok, we rotate this method with the reward system. LIKE..if you are good we will get you something at Wal*Mart. The thing is, you can't do the same thing every time. You must rotate and change up or they will get you. My son already has a higher IQ at 10 years old and my daughter is right there with him. I have to stay on my toes at all times or I will wake up with shaving cream on my nose if you know what I mean. They are already plotting and planning for the next set of rules that we make..I have nightmares about it...As a matter of fact..I will bet that they are hacked in now watching what I type...I'm going to Google some more ideas.

Our house rule was kind of crazy...stand up and do five spins while looking at the ceiling...we were dizzy let me tell you. I could barely see the cards after that one. You can do whatever house rule that you like or you can use some of the suggestions. Make sure that you use the volume control because sometimes its hard to hear while everyone is having so much fun. I Ain't Eating no Butt!

Well my son is a very picky eater. He gets it honest because his mother is pretty picky too. A while back, I wrote a post about his tongue itching when he eats certain foods. I can only relate that to the gagging, saliva filled feeling that you get when you are about to spit what you have in your mouth across the room.....I think I have that feeling right now just talking about it....***GAAAAAGGG!!***
When we get Gabriel to try a food it is a small win. When we get Gabriel to try something new and he likes it...VICTORY! We have also learned over time that we do not tell Gabriel the truth when he asks questions about the food or his little gifted brain starts working overtime.

So the day after Thanksgiving, I was at work and my wife and kids were at my mother's house with my extended family. The kids are runners on holidays. They run outside to get things, they take out trash, they get drinks,etc. Well, that night, they told Gabriel to go outside and get the Butt. he said,"Butt?" they said," Yes the Boston Butt outside in the refrigerator." He said,"It's not really butt is it?" they said, "What do you think BBQ is?" Gabriel then says,"I ain't eatin no Butt!" They said, "you eat ham don't you?" *hands over ears*,"LALALALALA" ...."where do you think bacon comes from?" *hands over ears*,"LALALALALA"."and hamburgers?" My wife said that you could see his eyes rolling back in his head, saliva falling from the sides of his mouth and his face getting pale as he said again," I ain't eatin no butt!"

About the time that the BUTT came out of the oven from the reheat, I came in. They told me the story and I said he will never eat BBQ again. About 15 minutes later, it was time for dinner and he put one of those sandwiches on his plate to prove everyone wrong...I WAS PROUD!...He was gonna just fight through it and eat it anyway because in his heart he knew it tasted really good and he liked it...BUT.....or should I say BUTT....he put one bite in his mouth and I just happened to be watching him at the time...He lurched, gagged, turned pale, and then looked to see if anyone had seen it. I caught his eye when this happened and his eyes said...DAD, IF YOU DO NOT SAVE ME FROM THIS BUTT, I WILL NOT LIVE ONE MORE DAY!

Of course I rescued my boy...we will see if he still eats bacon or ham, but we are running out of options!

HEXBUG PARTY IS A CREEPY PARTY!

So the week before Halloween, the kids and I hosted a HEXBUG party. We had these little critters running all over the place. I have never laughed so hard watching the cat chase and paw at something in all my life. The kids sat in the floor for hours with the HEXBUG and the track. All of our neighborhood kids loved them and asked us for more. I have played with the HEXBUGs secretly after the kids went to bed of course. Great toys and lots of fun!

My kids Refuse to Do anything That I Ask

SHHHH! This post is really a trick to make my kids think that everyone in the world now knows that they are not doing what we asked them to do....Funny thing is...IT WORKED!! All I have to do on the times that they act up is TRICK them..GOT IT...I may win this battle yet.

Now I don't do this all of the time so don't label me a horrible parent or anything...BUT.. it is fun to get reactions sometimes. Most of the time these kind of tactics are not necessary because my children are pretty well behaved especially away from home but it makes for great holiday story time.

What are some things that you have told your children to get them to hear what you are saying?

Calm On The Outside Train Wreck on The Inside

I am a nervous wreck around my children when they are involved in activities. My son decided to play catcher in baseball this fall and I am in knots inside. Sure, on the outside, I am calm and don't skip a beat. On the other hand, I am playing every pitch with him, I am blocking the plate with him, and I am throwing every pitch to second base with him. I almost can't watch I am so nervous. The good thing is that he never sees that and that he really isn't nervous at all. How about that?

So, remember that Isabella broke her ankle earlier this year? Guess who started back in gymnastics this week. You think that my son playing catcher was bad...I was wearing a hole in the floor pacing back and forth trying not to watch out of both eyes at once. Cartwheels, round offs,trampolines,ropes, BARS!!!!BARS!!!BARS!!! Who let little girls do flips on BARS? ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND? I though that this hour would never end! She had a broken ankle...doesn't anyone care? By the way, she did great and didn't even care about the ankle. She wasn't nervous at all and had a blast.

Calm down dad! It will all be OK.

Well we are back from our Disney trip and boy did we have a blast. We spent a lot of time at all four Disney parks as well as Universal for one day. When we go, we like to plan ahead and think about ways to save money and still have enough to drink and eat while we are there. One of the ways that we do this is by taking our Brita water bottles to the park. If you have ever been to Florida you know that some of the water tastes and smells very different. Oh my!! If my wife has talked about Hugh Jackman once she has said his name one thousand times...even in her sleep! She just returned from #DisneyDreamWorksEvent for the press junket for Real Steel. Now don't get me wrong, there may be a little man crush on him over here too....I mean look at him sometimes he has metal coming out of his hands but this time he has a fighting robot. Fighting Robots....I am in. I have seen a couple of previews and I can't wait to see the movie when it comes out on October 7th.

Speaking of man crush, what about the fact that Sugar Ray Leonard was a consultant on the movie. Can you imagine a robot with the moves of Sugar? How about the fact that Kate from Lost...better know as Evangaline Lily...is looking very Fabulous (Southernbella is right behind me or I would just say HOT!) in the film.

Just Sayin, I can't wait to see this film. I have not been this excited since M*A*S*H...LOL Harry Potter!

So I find myself watching TV shows that would have my grandmother praying for me on the spot. I have been watching WEEDS, Dexter, True Blood, and Sons of Anarchy. These shows are some that I have easy access to on my TV's On Demand as well as on Netflix.

Do you think that I am going to Hell for wanting the serial killer to get the bad guy and take him to the plastic covered room with all of the bad guy's memories plastered everywhere for him to look at while Dexter shoves his knife through his chest? I pull for Dexter every time because he is taking out the evil people that kill and hurt innocent victims. He is doing what ninety percent of the population say that they would do or wish that they could do. What a concept for a TV show.

How about a single mother that sells ....well....WEED to take care of her children since their father died and she had no job or work experience. She had to pay the bills and put food on the table so she did the only thing she could find to do that was easy and very profitable....sounds easy right?.

Then there are the vampires that I like to watch fighting the witches. They have the help of a fairykind Sookie but the witches are still really powerful and are showing their strength. Now I don't believe in shape shifters, vampires, and witches but I have seen a few werewolves in my time.

Who could forget the Sons of Anarchy? These bikers find themselves gun running while fighting rival gangs for business area as well as bragging rights. This show comes back on this week and I am still trying to get me a Harley to ride out and join SAMCRO.

Now I don't believe or condone any of these behaviors. I am saying that I watch every episode back to back just to keep up and stay ahead of the GANG....LOL....GAME. I am truly fascinated by the shows that are on and can hardly wait the time it takes to get from Finale the previous season to season premier of the next season. This is why I love watching a whole season in a day. I guess I could watch the news everyday but that would really give me nightmares!

So many times a child says daddy..daddy...daddy this or mommy...mommy...mommy that. It can be so overwhelming at times. Especially when times are already stressful. We get ourselves into a tunnel of everyday battles and stress and sometimes take things and people for granted.

Sometimes when we are busy we don't take the time to truly listen to our children. We just nod our heads and say I love you honey and keep doing what we are doing to get through all of the daddy and mommy stuff that we have to do. I am the world's worst at this during stressful times. I am trying to work on it because it is something that I recognize about myself.

Over the last month in our house we have had health issues that made me think about things. Nothing life threatening or anything like that but just things here and there. Like when Isabella stepped wrong off of that last step and fell to the ground crying. How many times has that girl fallen and gotten up crying and then walked over to me and climbed in my lap so Daddy could make it better? Hundreds of times and she is only six. Not this time! She stayed on the floor crying and said ...Daddy I need you! I can't walk! I knew something was wrong and I felt so guilty for thinking that she will do what she has done hundreds of times before...but she didn't. She had a broken ankle, she couldn't.

The other night, Gabriel was coughing and making himself sicker with each cough. We just assumed that it was a head cold and he would get over it in a couple of days with the medicine that we were giving him. But he ran to the bathroom sick and yelled Daddy I need you! He ended up with Bronchitis when it was all said and done but we had just assumed he would get through it like he usually did until we found out what it was. He's better now but I felt so guilty that we just assumed.... AGAIN!

Don't get me wrong, I love my kids and they know that their daddy is always there when they need him! They know that they can talk to Mommy about anything. We have a great bond between us! It's just that feeling and the flutter in your heart when you hear your baby say those words...Daddy I need you! This daddy just wants to make everything ok!!
