This week was a special week at the studio!  I hosted Laura Brett Photography and six other photographers from around the US for a newborn workshop.  Laura is widely known and highly sought after for her excellent newborn photography.  It was such a pleasure to have her and the other ladies at the SCP studio.  We photographed three beautiful newborn baby girls throughout the day. ;

It was a pleasure to photograph my friend Bethany and her clan!  Their session was one of my outdoor sessions in January, and we scored a gorgeous day!  Lucky us, right?

It was an humbling experience to photograph Alexa.  She’s three and loves to watch Dora! She even got to watch some Dora while she was at my studio.  Her mommy and daddy clearly love her so much. I am so glad that I had the pleasure of meeting this family.

I so enjoyed Naomi’s one year session.  She is a fun little lady! Isn’t her smile gorgeous?

These two’s momma says that I will be their lifetime photographer.  I ; photographing these two so it’s a deal!

Oh what joy to be counting down the days til holding your new baby!  There are few greater joys in this life.  Carrying a real, tiny little person inside of you that was knit in your womb by a most skilled creator- what a life-changing experience.

Well here she is, folks- the middle child, the one and only Emelia Carter Stanfill.  My girl Emmy- little sis.

She was a very good baby- happy, pleasant, content………  THEN, she entered toddlerhood where she really started living up to the “2nd child” personality.  “EMMY!” (if you can imagine her name being yelled like “ALVIN” in Alvin in the Chipmunks)  Really, she was one-of-a-kind.

Over the past year, I have watched her begin to bloom into the sweetest little girl.  She is warm and compassionate.  She has a great sense of humor and knows how to hang tough and hold her own.  She can be strong-willed at times, but has a sensitive side, too.  She is very bright and looks a lot like her Granny.

Some of her favorite things at age 3-  being naked, playing with pretend food, tea parties, baby dolls, My Little Ponies, Strawberry Shortcake, Hello Kitty, Hawaiian punch, makeup, painting nails, dress up, dance and tumbling class, spending the night at Granny’s, painting rainbows, working puzzles, and coloring.

She can write her name- EMMY (sometimes EWWY ha!)  Her favorite color is red.  She is brutally honest-even if it is to her own detriment.  She is always trying to keep up with her big sis.  She likes to use the word “actually”.  If you ask her how old she is, she will say “free”, but hold up four fingers.  Yes, she can count, but it is just too hard to get that pinky to stay down.  She is learning to hoola hoop and loving it.

You know, she turned 3 in December.  (I took these just one week after her 3rd birthday.)  She had been saying that she would throw her passy and bottle away when she turned 3.  She is still saying that, actually, 2 months later.    She isn’t taking a bottle anymore, but still keeps a passy closeby.  She does occasionally sneak and get Max’s bottle, though.  She just giggles and gets this twinkle in her eye, and I just have to turn my head the other direction.  I think she has figured out that she can talk Granny into a “little bitty bottle” sometimes, too.  I don’t stress about it.  After all, she is the 2nd child.  Things don’t have to be so much “by the book” the 2nd time around, right?  I know that I am definitely, in no way the same parent I was five years ago.

Tonight, she kept hugging and kissing me and saying, “My lub you.  You’re my bessssssst friend.”  (I do know of at least 4 other members of the family that have best friend status, though, so I take that with a grain of salt.)

I love her, adore her.

I wanted to skip ahead and share just a couple of Maggie Kate from her session! 

I hope that wherever you find yourself today that you find love.  Even if you aren’t showered in flowers and chocolates with fine dining, remember that God loves you.  He can be a mother, father, sister, friend, brother, or Valentine!    That’s what I’m talking about!!

Somedays, I think if I didn’t have my photography business, I would have a childcare business (or just keep having babies) because I just LOVE babies.  You can add Porter to my baby love list.
