There are still five months to go before the east of England's premier running event but already indications are that entries will reach 6,000 for the 2013 renewal of the Perkins Great Eastern Run. Interest has been encouraged by the use of an entry form cut-out runner which is being displayed by sponsors and other supporters at locations across Peterborough.

Half Way Home For 10 in 10

All 15 of the runners competing in this year's Brathay 10 in 10 have successfully reached the half-way point in the challenge. As it stands, Rik Vercoe leads the field, having completed five marathons in an average of 3:28:45, with Phil Eccleston following closely behind (3:30:20).

In the last few years, however, running events in the country have grown in popularity with a particular increase in the number of foreign participants. Entering a race abroad gives you the opportunity to combine running and sightseeing, and with more UNESCO World Heritage Sites than any other country, Italy makes for an ideal place to do this.

There were 1259 finishers in the popular Grant & Stone Marlow 5 organised by Handycross Runners at the weekend. The Buckinghamshire town is more renowned for its rowing as home to several Olympic gold medalists including Steve Redgrave, but it gave way to runners on Sunday 12 May.

Commonwealth Games Prices Revealed

Organisers of the 2014 Commonwealth Games have promised affordable tickets with two thirds going on sale at £25 or less. The first phase of ticket sales will be open from 19 August to 16 September and a ticketing guide, which includes an application form, will be available on 23 July.

The nomination process is now open for the Run England Volunteers Awards which first take place regionally before moving onto the national awards. There are awards available for Leader of the Year, Group of the Year and Project of the Year.

What's the worst thing an opponent has done to you during a race? For Andrew Lemoncello the answer is something you would expect to see in a Bruce Lee film. The Fife AC runner found himself on the receiving end of a 'dropkick' on Saturday as he overtook an opponent in the Las Vegas 5K in Nevada.
