6 Ronin:

6 Ronin is a local group of creators from the area of Columbus and it’s surrounding areas. After many sessions hanging out drawing at the coffee shop it was only a matter of time before someone suggested collaborating on an anthology together. This sampler is a reintroduction of all six artists and some of their work. May you find favor on the path towards your journey and may you find something in our efforts that resonates with you.

Fee Thomas:
Fee Thomas is a comic maker from Columbus Ohio. They delight in making mini-comics.

Jeremy Thomas:
Local indie comics creator with a manga/American comics fusion.

Caleb Thusat:
Caleb Thusat is the writer and creator of numerous comics, graphic novels, and children’s books. Horror, Science Fiction, Fantasy, and Supercats… there’s something for everyone and his catalogue keeps growing every year!
Come experience the mind-bending cyberpunk mystery “Alter-Life” or travel back in time to the 80’s in “Flytrap.” Follow the gripping story of a girl living through WWII in house inhabited by a ghost cat, or get swept away on an epic adventure to “The Neverland,” a moving modern sequel to the original Peter Pan story. We have been in the small press scene since the mid-90's. Doing comics, zines, movies, music and much more.

Camilo Velasco:
Camilo Velasco is a comic artist and queer creative who lives in the liminal space between Portland, OR and Columbus, OH. Their comics are full of lighthearted brooding and re-imagined memories. Their greatest influences are magical realism and mid 2000s webcomics. RatHouse is their first independently published work. June Vigorito:
Junior is an animated illustrator and expert of unexpected cute. They have published graphic novels such as The Divine Intervention, webcomics such as Growing Up Gerudo, and even short stories such as Actual Hourly, Float and more!

Jack Wallace:
Jack Wallace is a writer from Columbus, OH. He’s the writer of two graphic novels, including Frankenstein for Mayor and Chimera, and two collections of short fiction. With the help of two more Columbus creators, Jack launched a free newspaper highlighting the work of local comic creators called the Columbus Scribbler. The Scribbler was nominated for an Eisner award in 2019 and 2022 for best Comics-Related Periodical. His work has branched into animation as a scriptwriter for Essence Cartoon and Ownage Animation.

Jacob Warrenfeltz:
Uneasy Weasel One is the debut collection of short stories and splash illustrations by Jacob Warrenfeltz, best known for Trickster, Fubar, District Comics, and founding member of the D.C. Conspiracy, Washington D.C.'s indie comics collective. The group celebrates their 20th anniversary in 2025.

Ben Wright-Heuman:
Ben Wright-Heuman hails from Richmond, VA. A lifelong writer and doodler, he originally pursued screenwriting before realizing that comics were his true passion and calling. After receiving a BA in English Literature and Drama from Kenyon College and an MFA in Sequential Art from the Center for Cartoon Studies, he moved to Columbus, OH, where he works as a freelance cartoonist and illustrator. His comics span the genres of mystery, science fiction, horror, humor, and nonfiction.

Brandon Spicer:
“Battlefield Comics was founded by illustrator Brandon Spicer.
Brandon is a freelance illustrator based in central Ohio. He discovered his love for comic book art when he was a young child and was inspired by artists like J.Scott Campbell, Frank Cho, Jim Balant, Adam Hughes, Todd McFarlane, Tim Vigil, Stephen Gammell and too many others to list, but all equally just as important.
From 2000-2004 he contributed miscellaneous art for “Dungeon Crawler Magazine” which was nominated in 2001 for a 2000 Origins Award for Best Amateur Game Periodical.
In 2008 he began working with comic book publishers, penciling and inking sequential art, pin-ups, covers and illustrations. He has contributed to multiple books by PLB Comics and is the winner of the Critters Annual Readers Poll in 2020 for “Best Books Cover Artwork.”

Joshua Ray Stephens makes comics that have been beamed to him from a future dystopic timespace

Katie Starr:
Katie Starr is a cybersecurity analyst and budding comics writer and artist. She is the co-founder of Comics in the Circle, a local comics meetup-group for adults to sit and draw comics, and she hopes to continue fostering the ever-growing Cleveland comics-making scene. Katie has recently started self-publishing her work, including personal zines such as Crickets, humor comics based on manga such as Pronomore, and animating her finished comics.

Steven Stothard:
PM Press is an independent, radical publisher of critically necessary books and comics for our tumultuous times. Steve Steiner:
Steve Steiner makes a variety of weird and humorous comics and zines. He is currently working on his series Odd Clods, collections of strange comics printed on over-sized broadsheet newspapers.

Jaromir Stoll:
Jaromir Stoll (they) makes comics and zines on ecology, grief, and the ineffable in life. They also research comics cultures in India and are co-editing the upcoming book, Turn the Page! Illustrating India's Comics Scenes.

Tae:
Taè is a southern emo, erotic author, and gore whore. Her work focuses on emotionally volatile girls, their romantic exploits, and the horror that ensues. SNUFFED is her first published comic.

Chandu Tennety:
Chandu Tennety is a self-taught artist and has been drawing for as long as he can remember. He lives in Ohio with his musician spouse and daughter (an artist in her own right) and loves to linger in the spaces between reality and metaphor.

Koda Peterson:
Koda is a cartoonist from Texas who creates stories on self acceptance and death. Koda can often be spotted near coffee shops around Columbus and causing mayhem.

Joyous Phantom:
Joyous Phantom is a Cleveland based artist who loves telling stories through imagery. JP's current project is an upcoming Webtoon about a mysterious entity named Misery searching for his lost half. Misery, as well as his unlikely new allies, must decide for themselves what's truly worth believing in as they find answers to questions that humanity has been seeking for centuries.

Noor Al Rassam:
I am a self published graphic novelist from Cleveland, OH, creator of webtoon and graphic novel series, Moonflower. I am self taught and volunteered for Nayana LaFond for art activism movement, Missing and Murdered Indigenous People Project. My graphic novel is an allegory of current events in the Middle East, through the means of dark fantasy and dystopian story telling. I am inspired by anime, comics, videogames and middle eastern mythos. I enjoy connecting with others who share the same love for comics and anime as I do and I hope to inspire people with my art.

Shari Ross:
Shari is an artist with over a decade's worth of experience as a professional illustrator based out of Cleveland, Ohio. Previously, they’ve illustrated “The Witches of Escazú and Other Jewish Fairytales” and “Antisemitic Jewish Conspiracy Theories” (an educational comic book debunking ridiculous conspiracy theories) both works written by Debbie Letchman. Other works include: “Cracked,” “Day One,” “The Apology,” “Lost” and more. They’ve also been published by Nature Neuroscience for multiple scientific illustrations, and won the cover spot for Volume 18 Issue 10, October 2015.

Jim Rugg is an Eisner and Ignatz Award winning cartoonist, designer, zinemaker, and illustrator. Olivia Shamell is a Columbus-based comic illustrator and writer that is crippling anxious and equally self-aware. Robert Monsarrat:
Robert Monsarrat is a lifelong Columbus resident, having graduated from CCAD with a BFA in Illustration. His favorite things to draw are Kaiju, Dinosaurs, and other monsters of all kinds. Robert has high hopes for Rarraku, his signature monster, for whom he is drowning in story ideas.

Sam Moore:
Sam Moore is an author and musician from Michigan. His works have appeared in Platform Comics, QUA, Save Your Generation Records, and more. Moore’s most recent works include a trilogy of one-shot comics with J.R. Harris, “The Mountain Grove,” “The Waking Door,” and “The Boundless Tomb,” as well as a children’s book with Emily Augustine called “Human Halloween.” When he’s not writing, Sam enjoys reading, playing video games, and taking walks through nature.

Joseph Morris:
Joseph Morris is a 24 year veteran of the small press, publishing over 100 books through his imprint, TORC Press. His notable works include the daily Quixote Coyote strip, Broken Crown, Cozmic Taco, and the Dolphin Bros. He is currently working on a cycle of books called the Lost Dream Cycle.

Joshua Myers (Mobankiki):
Joshua Myers (Mobankiki) is a Freelance Illustrator and Comic Book Artist from Columbus, Ohio. While studying illustration at Columbus College of Art & Design, Joshua lettered Hospice and Cypher 3 and inked Fractured Quest for Freestyle Komics. He also created a comic titled Asmodeus: Chapter 1 for his senior capstone before graduating in may 2024. Joshua enjoys making dark fantasy, action, and adventure stories while exploring themes involving love, death, and isolation. Joshua started his convention journey with Middletown Comic Expo and Galaxycon Columbus in 2024 and is looking forward to traveling to more conventions. He is currently working on Asmodeus Chapter 2 and starting his Youtube journey.

Lisa Naffziger:
Lisa Naffziger is a graphic novelist and children’s book illustrator from the Midwest. Her previous comics work includes the 2018 self-published travel memoir I Don’t Wanna Puke in Tijuana and the 2019 YA crime thriller Minus (a Junior Library Guild selection). Lisa is excited to share her love of cryptozoology in her new graphic novel Deja Ross Speaks to Freaks!

Dara Naraghi:
Dara Naraghi has written comics and graphic novels of all types, from self-published zines to New York Times best sellers. His work has been published by The OSU Alumni Magazine, DC Comics, IDW Publishing, Image Comics, Dark Horse Comics, NBM Graphic Novels, and others.
His Persia Blues graphic novel series was nominated by the American Library Association for several prizes, and has twice won the SPACE prize for best graphic novel.
When not writing, Dara enjoys spending time outdoors, pursuing hiking, backpacking, running, cycling, paddling, camping, and more. Dara lives in Columbus, Ohio with his lovely wife, and the world’s coolest corgi and craziest mutt.

Keith Newsome:
I have been drawing since I was in the 5th grade. Since then I have created. GODSENT, Newsome Stories, The Hideybhinds, various illustrations of dragons and paintings. Currently working with October Harvest for newer comics

Neve M.A.:
Working from their attic, Neve M.A. is a queer, poly, and trans cartoonist making comics that tackle a range of themes; from campy queer sleepovers, to werewolves grappling with violent political times, to covertly planting new seeds... whenever possible their work is risograph printed. Neve lives just outside Pittsburgh, PA in a wonderful housing cooperative with two perfect (and stinky) cats.

My name is Tony, I’m an artist here in Columbus. I make comics and prints, usually about ducks and cats!

Patrick Lay:
Patrick Lay is a cartoonist, illustrator, and educator from Northwest Ohio. He is the artist for Death Strikes: The Emperor of Atlantis and a dozen self-published titles, including Multi- The Collected Edition. Currently an adjunct professor in the nationally-recognized Comics and Narrative Practice department at Columbus College of Art and Design, Patrick has an MFA in Comics from California College of the Arts in San Francisco.

Jeff Lilly:
Jeff is a writer and editor from Michigan, and part of Pontiac, Michigan-based Imaginos Workshop. He's been involved in comics writing and publishing for the better portion of his life. He currently creates The Extras with Pam Bliss and Katie Hodges.

Craig Lindsley
Craig Lindsley has had a love of comics since early in his childhood. In 1991, Craig earned his Associate Degree in Commercial Art. After gaining some experience in that field, Craig returned to school and attained a Bachelor Degree in Art with a minor in Education. He formally taught art to Middle Schoolers at Horizon Science Academy. Craig is a member of the Parma Area Fine Arts Council, where he teaches “How to Draw Superheroes.” He donates artwork to a near-by comic book shop that raffles the items to raise funds for a local foodbank. When Craig isn’t creating, he and his wife are enjoying time with his adult children and their cat Doof.

Carl Lucas:
Carl Lucas creates horror comics and zines with American and manga influences. His work is engaging and thought-provoking, often exploring dark and eerie themes through a unique artistic lense. Carl Lucas has also taught various workshops on comics, writing and animation.

Tessa Luicart:
Tessa Luicart is a cartoonist from southeast Ohio. Tessa's work includes comics ranging from the humorous to the horrific. They aim to share their experiences with others through their stories to make those who read them (and themselves!) feel a little less alone.

Robby 'RAW!' Melendez:
Robby 'RAW!' Melendez is a cartoonist working outside of Columbus, Ohio, known for his visually dynamic art and emotionally resonant stories. In 2021, the script for his tropical cyberpunk fantasy, “Rocket Punch Siouxsie: 4884 a.x.” was chosen as the Negative Space Comics Script Writing Contest winner. In 2023, his short slice-of-life sci-fi comic “Homesick” from the Columbus Cartoon Coalition’s BIPOC ROCK anthology was chosen as a S.P.A.C.E. prize finalist for best short-form comic. His work blends the fanciful with the soulful, always staying true to the fun and wonder that drives his love for comics.

T. Perran Mitchell:
T. took a circuitous path to writing comics by first graduating from Drexel University with a degree in information science and technology. Every term he took at least one class for himself that had nothing to do with his major; 16 credits cost the same as 20. This led to him accidently minoring in Philosophy and nearly attaining a minor in literature. He uses these various interests to inform his writing.

In addition to comics T. also writes short fiction, paints miniatures and when the mood strikes, knits.
T. lives in Phoenixville, PA with his wife and their two wonderful conures, Murphy, and Wallis.

Cow House Press grew out of a shared love of warm paper fresh from the printer, smudged ink, and wonky staples. We are an indie publisher based in Pittsburgh making comics, zines, books, and lots of cow puns.

Tim Fuller:
Tim Fuller is an illustrator living in Northern Kentucky and active in the Cincinnati, Ohio comic scene. He writes and draws comic books, mostly about talking animals. He shares his studio space with several cats and dogs who give him plenty of feedback on his work. His Sham Comics series for Source Point Press takes public domain material from the 40s and 50s and rewrites them as social satires. Tim is the art director for The Cincinnati Cabinet of Curiosities comic anthology of local paranormal legends. Tim’s current projects also include "Cap'n Catnip & Womble the Wonder Gerbil." with writer Craig Boldman and cartoonist Daryll Collins. Gawk Printing, LLC:
Gawk Printing, LLC is owned by illustrators Gloria Pridemore and Ian Walker. This duo uses their printing company as a means to produce their own work as well as offering printing services to other artists with the intention of being affordable for those looking for small minimums.

Daniel Gomez:
Fratboystrider is rumored to be a real life vampire. His love of the gothic, undead, and sacrilegious tendencies can be found in his work.

Rachel Gramza:
Rachel Gramza is a cartoonist from Dayton, Ohio. She has studied under Dayton-local fine artist, Tiffany Clark, and has studied under cartoonist and creator of Halftone Hospital, Victoria Douglas. She likes to make a mixture of cutesy romance and psychological thrillers. The pair love fantasy illustration and lowbrow art. Gloria recently released Act 3 of here ongoing story "The History of the Milky Way" as well as constantly generating smaller zine works.

Josh "J.R." Harris:
Josh "J.R." Harris is a freelance comic book artist and illustrator from Flint, MI.
Owner and operator of JR Comic Art & Entertainment, Josh has worked on various comic books and graphic novels with a number of small publishers. Though he specializes in mainly comic books, Josh is no stranger to working on television advertisements, animation, graphic design, and music. He believes that an artist is only bound by the limitations they give themselves.

Sarah Harris:
My name is Sarah Harris and I’m a comic artist living in Ohio. I focus on queer romance and fantasy, as well as a passion for character design.

Stephen Hines:
Stephen Hines was spawned and currently lives in Ohio. When he’s not infiltrating the system by teaching high school English he’s writing. So far he’s published one young adult novel (Hocus Focus), a one-shot surrealist horror comic (Icon-O-Plastic), a graphic novel called Zombie Fabulous, another trilogy entitled The Soccer Mom Killer, a book of short stories called An Exile’s Epistle and Other Stories, and a new comic: Snails With Lasers. He has also released a prose memoir (Rebirth Defect: My Journey From Catholic Altar Boy to Teen Atheist to Adult Christian Metal Evangelist and Back to Atheism) which was rumored to have caused acid reflux throughout the Vatican.

Joel Jackson:
Joel Jackson still wants to be a Transformer when he grows up, or possibly He-Man. For the moment, he’s an artist! Hidden in his secret underground fortress, surrounded by his plastic articulated army, Joel's creations jump off the finished page fueled by caffeine, boundless imagination, and a flair for pop culture. Jackson has been self-publishing and cartooning for over 25 years and is the artist on such comic books as Stealth Hammer, Radio Free Gahanna, and Cashout, to name a few. Haleigh Karr:
Haleigh is a mix media and craft artist born and raised in Texas. Haleigh likes the color green, floor time, and cute lil guys. They make anything from rugs, jewelry, to custom made mix media creations.

Matt Kish is a self-taught artist and librarian. He lives in southwest Ohio with his partner and far too many books.

Kevin Crook:
Writer/Creator of Premonition and Premonition and the Fates of Destiny

Jaz Dow:
Jaz Dow grew up in a Jewish household with a long and storied history of wealth in foggy San Francisco. With an ancestry defined by struggle and a family defined by capitalism, there was always a pressure to fit the molds of perfection and success in very traditional ways, but Jaz always struggled to do so. Their work is a reflection of that experience and the way it affected them and the people they care about. Jaz’s work spans several medias and styles, but their main focus of comics are done in grayscale with large areas of solid black contrasted with sparse and vibrant pops of color. Black Lamb is their first published work.

Ian Drescher:
Ian Drescher is a writer and cartoonist from Los Angeles, California. You can often find him drawing, drooling, and scratching his head.

Nick Dutro:
Nick Dutro is excited to return to SPACE with Multi- The Collected Edition. He lives in Tiffin, Ohio with his wife and two girls.

Mason Easley:
Artist and comic artist from Columbus, Ohio. Creator of The Legend of Azure, Psychic Soldier Kai, and Kings of Kaiju.

AJ Easterday:
AJ Easterday is an artist, writer, and editor based on Columbus, OH. She is the creator of Easterday Editorial, a small press and publishing services company specializes in comics, zines, and anthologies. When she isn't working, you can find her watching sci-fi shows and drinking way too much bubble tea.

Abe Erskine:
Fresh Press Comics Co. is a comics and stationary store for cartoonists by cartoonists, debuting as a digital store in spring 2025. We are dedicated to supporting self published and independent cartoonists and providing them with the tools to succeed

Espiritu Press:
Espiritu Press transforms personal narrative and shared histories into emotive and layered prints and books. Drawing inspiration from both Eastern and Western approaches in landscapes, her work reflects on the ways memories are held, mirrored, and reimagined over time.

Matt Feazell:
Matt Feazell is a freelance cartoonist and retired graphic artist located in Hamtramck, Michigan. His comics and spot illustrations have appeared in Disney Adventures and Nickleodeon Magazine. With four published books, a screenplay, and a feature film to his credit, Feazell continues the minicomic adventures of The Amazing Cynicalman, America's Laid-off superhero. Along with writer Jim Mackey, Feazell is the winner of the 2010 Small Press & Alternative Comics Expo SPACE Prize for best minicomic ("Board of Superheros™"). He's currently working on a new book about Stick Figure Storytelling.

Fieldmouse Press:
Fieldmouse Press is a nonprofit publisher of comics and literature, based in Grass Valley, California. Founded in 2019 to publish SOLRAD, the online literary magazine for comics, Fieldmouse Press is committed to expanding the reach and appreciation of the comics arts. Norah Clous:
Norah Clous is a cartoonist and editor and book designer native to and residing in Columbus Ohio. She was an ignatz nominated intern at Fieldmouse Press and received her BFA in comics at CCAD in 2025. Norah makes character-driven, fiction comics with angsty protagonists.

Leo Covault:
Leo Covault is a printmaker and illustrator from Cleveland, Ohio. His work includes the zines “Transition Hacks for Ye Old Mascs,” and “Old Timey Transfagonies.” He also created the fairy tale paper doll comic The Harpist in 2024. He explores gender through the lens of historical fashion and folklore, and emphasizes hand made shapes and texturesHe has been a Hudson Valley Seed Pack Artist and a Cleveland Scene Magazine Comics Edition artist. In 2024, he created the Genghis Con Indie Comics Convention poster. He graduated with a BFA from the Cleveland Institute of Art in 2022, and he has been vending at fairs and festivals since 2021.

Joel Cramer:
Joel Cramer is the creator/artist/writer of the comic book series "Adventures of Honzy and Joel". Being a huge fan of all things geeky, his all-ages friendly books feature aliens, dragons, superheroes and supervillains, talking animal people, mutants, ancient mysteries, sci-fi and so much more! Kel M. Crum:
Kel Crum has been active as a radio deejay at Oldies 97.3 in Huber Heights, a comedy writer for Cincinnati legend Gary Burbank, a stand-up comic, a nine-to-five laborer, a caffeine addict and - oh yes, a small press artist. Brian Canini:
Brian Canini is a cartoonist that lives with his significantly better half, Amy, and his three amazing kiddos in Sunbury, Ohio. Through his efforts in self-publishing, he has created the award-winning autobio graphic novels Fear of Flying and The Big Year, the critically acclaimed sci-fi comic Plastic People, the award-winning solo anthology Airbag, and is part of the team that produces the Eisner-nominated comics newspaper The Columbus Scribbler.

Gillian Claire:
Gillian Claire is an artist and cartoonist from Frisco Texas. Gillian discovered comics at a very young age and now makes kid comics of her own. Her comics are mostly contemporary, dealing with real life conflict that kids experience everyday, and she loves to put snippets of her own childhood into her work. In addition to her personal work, Gillian has worked with Archie Comics Publications in a multitude of ways and is currently a colorist for their digest stories.

Columbus Cartoon Coalition (C3):
The goal of the Columbus Cartoon Coalition is to establish consistent programming for cartoonists and comic artists in, and around, Columbus, OH. Developing a space to commune and create, we host critique sessions, gallery hops, and other activities to bring local artists together. Gathering creatives from various scenes within the city, our events provide ample opportunities for networking, collaboration, and community building within the medium of cartoon arts.

Blumiere Connor:
Blumiere Connor is a writer, artist and sophomore in high school. They created and co-wrote the comic book series The Electric Team, as well as co-writing and illustrating Swann Castle: A Multiversal RPG Setting. They enjoy collecting dolls, surreal art, and the history of animation.

Leighton Connor:
Leighton Connor is a writer, artist, cartoonist, and public school teacher. He lives in Cincinnati with his wife, two children, and a dog. He is the writer and artist of the series Lightning Man and other comics such as Fuzzball & Scuzzball, as well as the co-creator (with his child Blumiere) of the comic book series The Electric Team.

Sarah Cooke:
Sarah Cooke is a comics writer and journalist living in Columbus, Ohio. She won Mad Cave’s 2023 Talent Search and the 2023 Negative Space Women’s Comic Book Writing Competition. Mini comics since the mid 1980's crossing a variety of topics. Lately been focusing on love of low budget movie making with producer character. Completed a run of comics based on working as a house manager/QIDP for a group home. Also do one panel toons(generally at work).

Nick Arganbright:
Nick is a writer, occasionally writing for radio plays (It's All Been Done Radio Hour), local theater (MadLab Theatre), and acting/directing too. When he isn’t being creative, you can find him relaxing by playing board games, listening to music, and watching movies and television shows. He currently lives in Columbus, Ohio with his wife Sarah.

Ba Ba Buttons:
Started in 2021 we make high quality, eye-catching buttons and fridge magnets with inspiration drawn from pop culture, music, movies, and political satire. We also sell enamel pins, patches, and several of our designs on block printed T-shirts. The two of us design and press our own buttons and magnets in our home studio space using US union-made parts.

Lief Bennett:
Lief is a cartoonist and illustrator from southern New York (not the city) currently living in Columbus, OH. He has been a writer and an artist his whole life, but only recently thought to combine the two crafts as a cartoonist. His comics focus on exploring his experiences as a trans man who grew up in the church through both autobiographical and fictional stories. His primary project right now is his webcomic, Slice of Lief, a lighthearted diary comic documenting his life in Columbus.

Ethan Best:
Ethan Best is a Columbus, OH cartoonist, illustrator and writer. His comics have been published in the Columbus Scribbler, Horde Magazine, and Hot CoCo. He has also self published three issues of his anthology series Dirt as well as other one-shots and minicomics.

Skye Berggren:
Skye Berggren is an independent author, comic artist, and illustrator from Santa Cruz, California. When not busy selling books or making coffee, they can be found reading books and drinking coffee. Their self published comic, THE FISH WIZARD, is on its third printing.

Blind Alley Comics:
Blind Alley Comics is the premier micropress comic book partnership in Lansing, MI. Rick Schlaack (The Human Cannonball series) and Joe Haines (The Strange Adventures of Bone Boy series) produce only the most ostentatious original art and stories for their own whimsy, and hope others will enable this strange addiction with adoration and money.

Pam Bliss:

Magnus Tatum:
Magnus Tatum was born in Columbus, Ohio, raised on stories and fairytales from all over the world in his sleepy childhood condo. An imaginative graduate from Columbus College of Art & Design, Magnus dedicates himself to character creation and development and considers characters as the backbone of any good story. As a fantasy fanatic, Magnus dwells in the land of folklore, fables, and legends and has no desire to move out anytime soon.

Tessa:
An indie artist and self-published creator, Tessa's comics focus on anything from the horrific to the humorous, spanning the gap between more mature works like her gruesome horror Apology Dinner to goofing off with A Skeleton's Guide to a Ghoul's Night Out. Tessa strives to create a space for everyone with her art and entertain her audience along the way.

Ben Towle:

Ben Towle is a five-time Eisner-nominated cartoonist whose most recent book is Four-Fisted Tales: Animals in Combat (Dead Reckoning, 2021) a collection of real-life stories about the animals that have fought alongside their human counterparts in wars throughout history. His previous work, the rollicking nautical fantasy comic, Oyster War, was published by Oni Press in 2015. His other comics work includes Amelia Earhart: This Broad Ocean (with Sarah Stewart Taylor), a graphic novel for young adults (Disney/Hyperion Books 2010) which received accolades from such publications as The New York Times and Publishers Weekly and was a Junior Library Guild selection, as well as the historical fiction graphic novel Midnight Sun. He lives in Columbus, OH and is a professor of illustration at The Columbus College of Art and Design.

Keith Newsome:

Keith Newsome has been doing various kinds of art since he was in 5th grade. He got into comics in the early 80s, met some of his artic heroes. Decided to get into self publishing. Worked with Hunter Productions and Broken Glass Studios. He started doing dragon illustrations early on and it has become one of his favorite things to do. He is currently writing, drawing and creating his own creation GODSENT under the umbrella of a new comic company October Harvest owned by Eugene Layne Jr.. He is also creating a 60 page book of all his short stories. He has been published in various other small press comics and Zines.

Matthew Northrup:
I learned to read via comics, and fell in love with counter-culture works at an early age. I've studied and practiced the language of sequential storytelling for as long as I could hold a pencil, and have been seen by some greats in the field, but all deals fell through. Now, I've just decided to do it on my own, self publishing my first book in 2022 and going back to college to strengthen my writing and illustrative senses.

Koda Peterson is an artist from Wichita Falls, Texas. They are a comic book artist and illustrator. You can often find them getting coffee in Columbus, Ohio where they currently live.

Nate Powell:

Nate Powell is a National Book Award-winning cartoonist who began self-publishing as an Arkansas teenager in 1992. His work includes the new graphic novel Fall Through, a comics adaptation of James Loewen’s Lies My Teacher Told Me, memoir/essay hybrid Save It For Later, civil rights icon John Lewis’s March trilogy, Come Again, Two Dead, Any Empire, and Swallow Me Whole. Powell’s work has received four Eisner Awards, two Ignatz Awards, the Comic-Con International Inkpot Award, multiple ALA and YALSA distinctions, and is a two-time finalist for the Los Angeles Times Book Prize. He lives in Bloomington, Indiana.

Warren Reed:

Born in England, raised in Europe, college and more adventure in the US, then lived in France and Tanzania, visited a few countries in North, East and West Africa. Comics in college papers, then got into animation, several films in festivals in three continents, moved to Columbus for work, also adjunct teaching at CCAD. Identity and alterity are main themes, with liberal doses of humour, action and romance! Intend to do some HORROR!

Refugee Youth Project:
The Refugee Youth Project (RYP) helps school-aged youth develop the knowledge and skills required for academic success and positive integration. Programs include after-school support, summer school, college access, and community arts. After-school programs focus on homework help, social skills, and building and improving English language skills.  Funding for RYP is provided through the generous support of the Maryland Office for Refugees and Asylees (MORA), as well as supplemental grant and fundraising dollars. All RYP program services are FREE for eligible students. RYP partners with local colleges, universities, and high schools to recruit more than 250 volunteers each year.

Max Schaller:

Max Schaller is a cartoonist in Columbus OH who writes and draws some wild shit.

Anna Sellheim:
Anna Sellheim is originally from Washington DC. She earned her MFA in comics from the Center For Cartoon Studies in 2016. She has been published by the Nib, Oni Press and Seven Days (Vermont’s Alternative Weekly Newspaper). She also has contributed to a number of anthologies, most notably Dirty Diamonds and Comics For Choice, an anthology of nonfiction comics about abortion that raised over $30,000 for the National Network Abortion Fund. Her work primarily deals with health, trauma, and the healing power of art. She now works at the Refugee Youth Program, where she teaches art and comics to refugee youth ages 5-21 throughout Baltimore City. She helps guide her students into creating their own healing art practices, while also using comics as an opportunity to solidify their English skills. One project of note, the RYP Zine, is an anthology created by her students at Patterson High School. The sales of the initial print run has raised over $1000 for the student snack fund.

Nick Stellanova:

Nick Stellanova is a comic artist and illustrator from Ohio. He loves to play with making comics and creating stories. His work focuses on personal identity, nature, and the queer community.

Laura Shaw:
Laura Shaw is a psychological horror writer and comics artist based in Columbus, OH. Shaw started her career in comics at the Columbus College of Art and Design and achieved her BFA in 2024. She has worked beside many industry writers and editors, such as Shelly Bond, and has participated in multiple comics events such as CXC. Shaw, ever the animal lover, uses her skills to draw attention to the plights surrounding animal conservation and protection which you can read about in her new comic, HYBRID.

Canada Keck:

Ruminera Comics, created by Canada Keck, is an on-going series of comics that look at both the darkness and the light in her experiences. Canada is a sociologist by training who started writing comics more than a decade ago, when she stayed up all night and wrote a 24-page comic in 24 hours. Since then she has self-published several autobio comics as well as having several short comics appear in anthologies. She has edited five anthologies, as well as curating exhibits of comic art for Wild Goose Creative. In 2016, she discovered a love for oral story and has been an active participant in SpeakEasy ever since. In her spare time, she makes the best cat toys in the universe, as well as a host of other tentacled creatures.

Kenn Minter:

In the colorful world of art, Kenn Minter has worn many hats. Initiating his career as a daily comic strip creator for the Kentucky Kernel newspaper, he soon became a graphic designer, dabbled as a mural painter and magazine illustrator, and served as an Art Director for the University of Kentucky. Using knowledge culled from the world of print and publishing, Kenn began creating comic books and graphic novels under the imprint, Near Mint Press. He is most proud of the books he has co-created with artist, Clarence Pruitt, “the Experts,” “SuperWorld,” and “Tales of the Emerald Yeti.”

T. Perran Mitchell:
T. Perran Mitchell (he/him) is a crafter of stories and a maker of things. Comics are his favorite medium and have been for as long as he can remember. Growing up with ADHD, Dyslexia and several other learning disabilities, comics not only fostered a love of reading, they were the key to learning to read. T. took a circuitous path to writing comics by first graduating from Drexel University with a degree in information science and technology. Every term he took at least one class for himself that had nothing to do with his major; 16 credits cost the same as 20. This led to him accidentally minoring in Philosophy and nearly attaining a minor in literature. He uses these various interests to inform his writing. In addition to comics T. also writes short fiction, paints miniatures and when the mood strikes, knits. T. lives in Phoenixville, PA with his wife and their two wonderful conures, Murphy, and Wallis.

Joseph Morris:

Joseph Morris is the owner and operator of TORC Press, a Small Press Publisher based out of Central Illinois. He is currently publishing a monthly anthology called Spitballz which is devoted to exhibiting the best of the Small Press while also capturing the joy and fun of old Mad Magazine and Harvey Comics. He also does a daily comic strip called Quixote Coyote, and is tinkering away at a bizarre cosmic epic called Cozmic Taco. His work is at torcpress.com.

Wally Maurer:

Steven Myers:

Steven Myers is by trade an Art Teacher in northern Ohio. He applies his artistic side by making polymer clay statues, painting, and drawing in both pastel and ink. A. E. Hepler:
A. E. Hepler is from Northeast Ohio and adores drawing creatures, beasts, and entities and making money so they can legally eat food. They’ve been drawing since childhood, and writing ever since their mother started taking their sketchbooks as punishment for the numerous Geneva Convention violations one commits as a child. Nowadays, they can be found weeping over Google Docs or Clip Studio Paint with an iced coffee in one hand and an energy drink in the other. Their illustrative work is featured in Pouya Sattari’s Tsel the Shadow of Death and Raav the Endless Famine.

James Herth:
James Herth is an artist making high-energy comics with a raw edge to them. James makes works for every human with a little freak living inside them.

Stephen Hines:

Stephen Hines was spawned and currently lives in Ohio. When he’s not infiltrating the system by teaching high school English he’s writing. So far he’s published one young adult novel (Hocus Focus), a one-shot surrealist horror comic (Icon-O-Plastic), a graphic novel called Zombie Fabulous, another trilogy entitled The Soccer Mom Killer, a book of short stories called An Exile’s Epistle and Other Stories, and a new comic: Snails With Lasers. He has also released a prose memoir (Rebirth Defect: My Journey From Catholic Altar Boy to Teen Atheist to Adult Christian Metal Evangelist and Back to Atheism).

Ellie Hufbauer:
Ellie Hufbauer is an artist and author graduating with a BFA in Comics and Narrative Practice from Columbus College of Art and Design in 2024. Originally from Louisville, Kentucky, they ended up in Columbus, Ohio to pursue their artistic education. Their comics and illustrations have been published in CCAD’s COCO #8 anthology and in several editions of Botticelli magazine. Hufbauer’s work is a melting pot of horror, science fiction, and autobio. Most recently, they have been working on In Sickness, a bittersweet memoir comic about their experiences being disabled.

Travis Horseman:

Travis was born in Springfield, Ohio, and discovered comic books at the age of six. Since then, the course of his life has been shaped by his love of comics, theater and classical history. In addition to being a writer, he has been an actor, a director, a produced playwright, and occasionally, all three at once. After writing the first draft of his ancient Roman epic Amiculus: A Secret History as a ten-page play in college, he began adapting it as a comic. Initially intending for it to be a short 32-page project, it took on a life of its own, expanding to a 200-page graphic novel. Since Amiculus, Travis has continued to write, crowdfund and publish comics under his label Amiculus Books, venturing into modern-day horror with Sugar Creek in 2019 and combining horror with ancient history in the vampire story In Noctem in 2021. The first issue of his new mythology-fantasy miniseries Pythia: The Last Oracle debuted in 2023, with new installments coming this year and in 2025.

Felix Hustead:

Felix Hustead is a cartoonist based in Westerville, Ohio. When they’re not chained to their drawing table, they’re probably spending way too much time (and money) on toy collector websites.

Joyous Phantom:
Joyous Phantom is a Cleveland based artist who loves telling stories through imagery. JP's current project is an upcoming Webtoon about a mysterious entity named Misery searching for his lost half. Misery, as well as his unlikely new allies, must decide for themselves what's truly worth believing in as they find answers to questions that humanity has been seeking for centuries.

DeathMark :

DeathMark came up with the idea for Burrito Supreme! a couple decades ago and after experimenting with a few other creator-owned titles and the webcomic "prematurely disappointed", he decided last year to give BS! a shot. To everyone's surprise the first issue won the Mark Gruenwald Comic Creation Challenge in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, and he decided to take it on the road in 2023. He and his fiancée live in Neenah, Wisconsin, and are owned by at least seven furbabies. Often he can be found cursing at inanimate objects

CN Dillon:

Cleveland area artist CN Dillon creates imaginative paintings, drawings, illustrations, alternative comics, cartoons, and graphic designs. Many of the images are based in science fiction, fantasy, the supernatural, pyschedelia, and surrealism. He is currently working on a comic book series, "Deadball", the first episode of which was published in October of 2023.

Easterday Editorial is a small press and publishing services company based on Columbus, OH specializing in comics, zines, anthologies, and related merchandise. Our publications include Untold Treasures: A Pirate Zine; Far, Faw Away: Stories; and For the Love of Books.

Kurt Erichsen:
Kurt Erichsen has been a prolific fan writer and cartoonist since the late 60s. He edited the comics/fiction zine Endeavor from 1970-1977, contributed to other fanzines and several apas. In the 80s, he syndicated his comic strip Murphy’s Manor to LGBT newspapers, ultimately running 28 years. He also published stories in Gay Comix, Meatmen, and other LGBT publications. Fanzine contributions included Mimosa, File 700, Lan’s Lantern, Ansible, Science Fiction Review, Challenger, Reluctant Famulus, Argentus, Drink Tank, Askance, and Corflu 35. On top of Endeavor and Taciturn, Kurt also published a Murphy’s Manor book, The 30-Year Wedding, and a collection of his Christmas cards: Happy Holidays! (But is it Science Fiction?) Reviving Endeavor in 2019 with issues 14-16, the zine has become an all-comics, all-color anthology. Kurt’s contribution is Sis & Sass, stories about a world of dragons, dinos, hmnns, with a mix of fantasy and half-baked sociology. A new issue of Taciturn is coming up with “Valerian the Barbarian” about a blind barbarian boy and Aergol, his seeing-eye dragon. This story dates from 1981, unpublished until now. In 1985 and 1987 Kurt was recognized by the Gay/Lesbian Press Association for Outstanding Achievement in Illustration, and in SF fandom, received the Bill Rotsler Award for fan cartooning in 2002. In January 2024, he was Fan GoH at ConFusion.

Kedra Fairley:
Aziza the Graphic Novelist is an ambitious comic writer with a passion for fantasy and thrillers. New to the indie comic scene she published her first comic “The Kaaiman’s Cry” on Comixology in July 2020, and has proceeded to publish other comics such as “Locket of Devise” and "The Crosswick Snake" as part of the Cincinnati Cabinet of Curiosities Anthology in March 2022. A champion for more diversity in fiction, Aziza is focused on writing intriguing stories that feature diverse and unique characters.

Matt Feazell:

Matt Feazell is a freelance cartoonist and retired graphic artist located in Hamtramck, Michigan. His comics and spot illustrations have appeared in Disney Adventures and Nickleodeon Magazine. With four published books, a screenplay, and a feature film to his credit, Feazell continues the minicomic adventures of The Amazing Cynicalman, America's Laid-off superhero. Along with writer Jim Mackey, Feazell is the winner of the 2010 Small Press & Alternative Comics Expo SPACE Prize for best minicomic ("Board of Superheros™"). He's currently publicizing his new book, Mister Comics and the Key Comics Kids.

Aaron Z Felder:
Aaron Z Felder has been experimenting with comics for over 20 years. Aaron enjoys applying mathematical approaches to the creation of comics and experimenting with other forms of non-narrative comics in general.

Phoenix Productions is the self publishing label of Tom Fellrath (New Albany, Ohio). Mortimer “Morty” Foster:
Mortimer “Morty” Foster is a butch zinester and craftsman from Columbus, Ohio who sees a creature in everything. He’s passionate about making books about his beasts, mythical creatures, interpersonal relationships, and the queer and disabled experiences.

Tim Fuller :

Tim Fuller began self-publishing his cartoons in Hooha Comics in 1978. He contributed the series “The Blue Beagle,” to Fantagraphics’ Critters and “Cap’n Catnip” to Charlton Bullseye. Tim created countless strips and cartoons for various fanzines, mini comics and magazines, including The Comic Buyers Guide and Starlog.

In 2006, after a self-imposed exile from making comics, Tim began actively creating and publishing his cartoons again. Tim’s ongoing projects include “The New Adventures of Cap’n Catnip” with Craig Boldman and Daryll Collins, and SHAM Comics, his rewritten golden age satire.

Skye Berggren:
Skye Berggren is a cartoonist and author from Santa Cruz, California. As a student at the Columbus College of Art and Design, they were a contributor and lead designer for the prestigious Spitball Comics Anthology and worked with acclaimed authors such as Andy Warner and Rebecca Mock. The Fish Wizard is the darkly-funny culmination of four years of work and study. They can be found reading strange books and drinking black coffee. When they write, someone always dies. Spoilers.

Brian Canini:

Brian Canini is a cartoonist born from the bosom of the Midwest - Columbus, Ohio. There he lives with his wife, Amy, and their three kiddos. He creates a plethora of comic series including the critically-acclaimed solo anthology series, Airbag. He is also an editor/creator of the Eisner nominated free comics newspaper the Columbus Scribbler.

Lucky Christiansen:

Brian E. Lau is the creator/writer/artist/letterer of Inferno City Firehouse, a 76-page, original graphic novel that takes you inside the lives of real Detroit firefighters - true stories fused together into a breathtaking narrative, and Staunch Ambition, a full-color, science-fiction graphic novel - what happens when human innovation transcends its physical limitations and enters the supernatural.

Craig Lindsley has had a love of comics since early in his childhood. In 1991, Craig earned his Associate Degree in Commercial Art. After gaining some experience in that field, Craig returned to school and attained a bachelor's degree in art with a minor in Education. He formally taught art to Middle Schoolers. Craig has served as a member of the Parma Area Fine Arts Council, where he taught “How to Draw Superheroes.” He donates artwork to a near-by comic book shop that raffles the items to raise funds for a local foodbank. Stephen Hines was spawned and currently lives in Ohio. When he’s not infiltrating the system by teaching high school English he’s writing. So far he’s published one young adult novel (Hocus Focus), a one-shot surrealist horror comic (Icon-O-Plastic), a graphic novel called Zombie Fabulous, another trilogy entitled The Soccer Mom Killer, and his newest book is An Exile’s Epistle and Other Stories. After writing the first draft of his ancient Roman epic "Amiculus: A Secret History" as a ten-page play in college, he began adapting it as a comic. Initially intending for it to be a short 32-page project, it took on a life of its own, expanding to a 200-page graphic novel. Travis partnered with veteran comic artist Giancarlo Caracuzzo (www.giancarlocaracuzzo.com) to bring the script to life panel-by-panel over three successful crowdfunding campaigns, releasing the final version in 2020.

Since "Amiculus", Travis has continued to write, crowdfund and publish comics under his label Amiculus Books, venturing into horror with "Sugar Creek" in 2019 and combining horror with ancient history in the vampire story "In Noctem" in 2021. Currently, he is hard at work on a mythological fantasy miniseries, "Pythia: the Last Oracle," with Roxy Comics artist Jessie Robinson.

80 Proof Comix:

Mini comics since the mid 1980's crossing a variety of topics. Lately been focusing on love of low budget movie making with producer character. Completed a run of comics based on working as a house manager/QIDP for a group home. Also do one panel toons(generally at work).

Itzel Argil Aguilar:
Itzel Argil Aguilar (she/they) is a comics and illustrative artist with a range in high fantasy and realism. Their work is informed by her Mexican heritage and extensive media backlog

Richard Alexander:
Richard Alexander self publishes Richy Vegas Comics and Tales From the Richy Vegas Psychoverse. Both books offer autobiographical takes on Richard's struggles with mental illness and how these struggles play out in his life.

Rachel Bard:
I create unusual mini-comics in a variety of formats and styles. I print and assemble all of them by hand. I like to experiment with unconventional book formats and materials that really add something to the content of the story. I write about monsters, robots, animals, and other strange creatures who are equal parts funny, sad, cute, and maybe secretly evil. My books are short, all-ages, and can usually fit in the palm of your hand.

John Boissy:
John Boissy is the author and illustrator of a weekly webcomic, Wee Freekz. When not making funny pictures, John is a Creative Lead at ProQuest, part of Clarivate, and a part-time instructor at Eastern Michigan University. He lives in the Ann Arbor/Ypsilanti area and is married to Suzanne, a professor at Eastern Michigan University, and has three sons; Jay, Foxx, and Cosmo. And yes …John has a blue fez.

Charles Brubaker:
Charles Brubaker is a cartoonist and animator based in Martin. A graduate of the University of Tennessee at Martin, Brubaker's works have appeared in publications such as MAD Magazine and SpongeBob Comics. He is the creator of the comics "Ask a Cat", "The Fuzzy Princess", and "Lauren Ipsum." In addition to his comics work, he has also worked as a storyboard artist and animator.

Suzanne Baumann:

I make comics in my attic. Or really, anywhere I can grab a drawing utensil and go, but I like the attic best. I draw and am drawn to all sorts of little everyday things that are typically overlooked and taken for granted, or outright rejected and discarded. Such items continually turn up as both subject matter my zines. Titles include the minicomic series As Eavesdropped (based on overheard conversations), Ball Point (doodles, tiny and free) and the webcomic Sucker Street (suckerstreet.com). Pam Bliss:
Pam Bliss has been making minicomics in the real Indiana since 1989 and she's not finished yet. Her Kekionga universe, set in an Indiana of the mind, keeps on expanding.

David G Caldwell:

Brian Canini:

Brian Canini is a cartoonist that lives with his significantly better half, Amy, and his three amazing kiddos in Sunbury, Ohio. Through his efforts in self-publishing, he has created the award-winning autobio graphic novels Fear of Flying and The Big Year, the critically-acclaimed sci-fi comic Plastic People, and is part of the team that produces the Eisner nominated comics newspaper The Columbus Scribbler.

Michael Anthony Carroll:

Michael Anthony Carroll makes his home in Columbus, Ohio with several cats and Lego miniatures. He’s been making comics since he was ten and self publishing since his early 20s. He’s known for creating AsthmaAttack, R.A.In.B.o.W., The Kernal, The F’orcemen and RoboStick. Since 2010 he’s drawn a lot of ninjas. His current works include "The Cute Ninja Tarot Deck", "The Cute Ninja Coloring Book", "The Second Cute Ninja Coloring Book" “Pumpkin Spice Laddie”, “Fun with M.O.N.S.T.E.R.S.”, "Holiday Ninja Force: Roll Call", "Teamsgiving", "Ninja-Mental" and "Pun Ninja".

Ryan Claytor:
Ryan Claytor is the Coordinator of the Comic Art and Graphic Novel Minor and Assistant Professor at Michigan State University where he teaches Comics Studio courses. Claytor’s achievements have included five S.P.A.C.E. (Small Press and Alternative Comics Expo) Prizes , including the top prize, 1st place in the Graphic Novel category, for his work in comics, a Cartoonist in Residence position at the Cartoon Art Museum, visiting lecturerships at the Dallas Museum of Art , The Center for Cartoon Studies, and The Savannah College of Art and Design, an internship with Marvel Comics, and judging the Will Eisner Spirit of Comics Retailing Award. As a creator, Claytor is known for his award-winning, self-published, autobiographical, comic book series, "And Then One Day," as well as his collaborative work on "Coin-Op Carnival: Electrifying Tales of Mechanical Contraptions," which is illustrated by Claytor and co-written by Nick Baldridge and Ryan Claytor, "A Hunter's Tale," a collaborative comics poem between him and his grandfather.

Columbus Cartoon Coalition:
The goal of the Columbus Cartoon Coalition is to establish consistent programming for cartoonists and comic artists in, and around, Columbus, OH. Developing a space to commune and create, we host critique sessions, gallery hops, and other activities to bring local artists together. Gathering creatives from various scenes within the city, our events provide ample opportunities for networking, collaboration, and community building within the medium of cartoon arts.

Leighton Connor:
Leighton Connor is a writer, artist, cartoonist, and public school teacher. He lives in Cincinnati with his wife, two children, and a dog. He has illustrated a few books and has drawn numerous comics, including Lightning Man, Fuzzball & Scuzzball, and Laser Brigade. With his daughter Blu he is the co-creator of the comic book series The Electric Team. He is the co-founder of Hex Games and the author or co-author of numerous RPG books, including Akashic Titan, Laser Ponies, Hobomancer, Project 8Ball, Save Dave!, and Leopard Women of Venus. He enjoys BLTs.

Joel Cramer:

Joel Cramer was born and raised in the Columbus, Ohio area. He is a huge fan of all things fantasy and sci-fi but especially dragons, which reflects in every work he puts out. When not making comics he enjoys video games, movies and talking about anything considered geeky.

Kel Crum:

Kel Crum has been a long time writer for Cincinnati radio legend Gary Burbank as well as a radio announcer and occasional stand-up comic. He's been active in small press since 1989, starting with "Dangerous Birds". Cornelia Dodson was introduced the following year, followed by Ed Thud, Helen Boomer, Reba Moonves, Thighbone Jones and other curiosities. Cornelia can now be seen in a new live-action short film on Youtube. Just enter "Smart Phony A Cornelia Story" in the search engine.

Miles Curtiss:

Miles Curtiss is a songwriter and comic book writer based in Columbus, Ohio. He is the frontman of the band Marvin The Robot, which has been active since 1999 and has developed a loyal following with their unique brand of indie rock. Curtiss' debut comic, The Editors, was released in 2021 and follows a pair of best friends who travel back in time to prevent slavery from coming to America. The series has been praised for its clever writing and engaging characters. His most recent comic, Neighborly Detective Co., follows the adventures of Agatha Neighborly. A young lady struggling to make it in New York City, all while discovering some amazing things about her own history. The series has been a hit with both fans of mystery comics and sci-fi enthusiasts. Curtiss is known for his eclectic interests and unique creative vision, which is evident in both his music and his comics.
