It’s a strategy and simulation game that does not contain all the traditional elements of a 4x space strategy game but rather concentrates in ship design and space battles.

In Gratuitous Space Battles you assign your ships, arrange them into fleets, give them upfront orders of engagement and then site down and watch the result of your deployment strategy: It’s all about wondering if all the decisions have been done right and if you can come out victorious from battle.

In 28th of March Matrix Games released v1.0.2, in April 8th released v1.0.3 that among other things fixes the following major issues. 
 
&lt;strong&gt;Patch v1.0.3 major changes&lt;/strong&gt; 
&lt;ul&gt; 
 &lt;li&gt;Extensive memory usage optimization. Large games now consume much less memory which should resolve the crashes related to Out of Memory and crashes during save/load.&lt;/li&gt; 
 &lt;li&gt;Added an AutoSave feature with a variable save interval between 10 and 60 minutes.&lt;/li&gt; 
 &lt;li&gt;Fleets now respond properly to manual control and will not automatically disband&lt;/li&gt;&lt;/ul&gt;

In preparation for this Star Trek event, Mike will release a game update in August 2010 that will improve the multiplayer experience and game performance. The update will also include improvements to Diplomacy and the Intelligence features.

The game features three distinct races: the Zerg, the Terrans and the Protoss. Each has its own distinct units, some of them returning from the original title, others completely new. 
 
Wings of Liberty takes place several years after StarCraft: Brood War events. Some heroes will return like Jim Raynor from the original StarCraft. The game will feature a single player campaign that will allow the player to interact with those characters via several missions.

Ask any strategy gamer about it and the odds are that he has played at least one of the Civilization titles during his gaming life time, or at least a Sid Meier's title (Railroad Tycoon, Alpha Centauri, Colonization, Pirates and many more).

And really it is no big surprise because Civilization is really what strategy gaming is all about. Since the game starts till it finishes it is all about making decisions, some minor, others of tremendous importance, these last will dictate if your civilization will thrive or be left dead forever forgotten in the ages.

It excels on providing a rich gaming experience that will no doubt entertain you for many hours. Ironclad and Stardock deserve an applause for having created a game that successfully mixes the RTS mechanic with the 4x genre in such a fantastic way.

Sins of a Solar Empire is a very fun experience and I strongly recommend it to all Sci-Fi fans that love Real-Time strategy, this is a must title for you guys. For the Sci-Fi Turn-Based fans that enjoy more the traditional 4x experience I also recommend you have a try, I include myself in this last bunch and I can assure you that I have fun playing the game.
