Summer new Maurice Noah’s electronic music single, Skinwalker is inspired by John W. Campbell’s 1938 classic science fiction story Who Goes There?, a novel that was already adapted for the screen by Christian Nyby/Howard Hawks (The Thing from Another World, 1951) and John Carpenter (The Thing, 1982). The 1938 novel sees a group of scientists, isolated in Antarctica, who are forced to defend themselves against a malevolent shape-shifting creature. But what if the creature had not been originally malevolent? These samples were carefully recorded to capture the Magic that is the Mbira, which is a thousand year old instrument that was used in ceremonies and accompanied by singing, dancing and storytelling. Close your eyes and let the sounds take you to the sun setting over the veldt. All of these instruments were carefully recorded using class A pre amps and compressors straight into the digital domain to bring authentic sounds without losing any of the quality.
