The new exhibit for a show featuring Andy Warhol, at the Hearst Building in NYC is fantastic. It's Warhol's work done when he was an illustrator, for Harper's Bazaar, before he became the Pop icon he remains today. The sketches are so lively, so whimsical and so charming, and not surprisingly they still look totally cool today. It's all about beauty and shoes, many a girl's favorite concerns, so it's definitely worth a look see if you are in New York. Address is the Hearst Tower, inside gallery at 8th Avenue and 57th Street. The building is an all "green" office building, to boot.

I found this new line called Stript at my local Ricky's, the cosmetic junkies home away from home. It is 100 % paraben free, fragrance free, talc free, plus it's vegan....jeez. I saw the preview of Bye Bye Birdie, the hit musical from the 60's...Mad Men viewers who can't get enough of this period, will get a kick out of this one as well. Costumes were great, John Stamos and Gina Gershon looked good, but overall the show wasn't amazing. Needs work, as they say in real estate. Seems kids breaking into song at the drop of a hat is good TV as well. With the hit show Glee, my old friend and creator of the show, Ryan Murphy, is happy, because Glee is a total smash!

Richard Avedon is one of the all time greats. His fashion photographs, meticulously recreated to seem spontaneous, are little jewels. The International Center of Photography has mounted a fantastic show with all the photo gems from the 50s and 60s...and all the superstars are there...Veruschka, Twiggy, Penelope Tree, frozen in black and white.

Yes, I love all things sparkly, especially diamonds, so I did a double take at this from the cosmetic gurus at LA MER. They make the richest and best moisturizers on the market, albeit very pricey -- and this one has pure diamond dust in it. The Society of Illustrators in NYC just opened an exhibit by some of the world's leading fashion illustrators. Once a thriving career category for many fashion obsessed design students, it's diminished thanks to photography, and the declining status of department stores as trend leaders. These talented people were not just sketchers, but now are receiving their due as true artists in their own right. Through May 2nd. They are credited with developing the $150 billion dollar global beauty business. I was just in Los Angeles, where it was 80 degrees...then back to freezing cold New York City where it topped out at 20 degrees last week. This book was given to me by my sister, for the holidays. She knew I dated Miki Dora, a world champion surfer, and he's the subject of this amazing and inspirational read.

Miki was the ultimate non-conformist, best surfer in the world, and con man who pulled scams all over the world and finally got caught after Interpol and the FBI closed in on him, (not when I knew him!). This book would make a great film, and I hear Leonardo Di Caprio has some interest in it, a perfect follow up to his Catch Me If You Can success.

If you're at all interested in surfing, surf culture, surf history, and the enigmatic Dora, this is a must. Beautifully written, painfully researched, and lovingly told, this story proves truth is stranger than fiction.

I just got invited to a dance performance of the Alvin Ailey dance troupe next week. It's their 50th anniversary and it should be exciting. My friend Marie invited me to be her guest, and what a surprise when she told me that Oprah will be there to congratulate the troupe on their long-lasting success.

Well, I'm one step closer to getting on the couch to tell Oprah what she did for me by having The Ah Ring in O magazine! It jumpstarted the business and I've been dying to thank her.

Yes, one of the best things about New York is walking around all the beautiful streets with brownstones on the Upper East side. Ever since I've lived here, I've wondered which apartment had Holly Golightly (Audrey Hepburn) as a tenant, and that was shown in the movie, Breakfast At Tiffany's.

Somehow, I discovered the address the other day, and walked right over there. Luckily, it's still there, gorgeous street and all, even in the midst of a building boom that mounts big, glass skyscrapers next to historic carriage houses and is threatening to destroy the charm and beauty of our turn of the century architecture. Wow, George Peppard was gorgeous in that film, too!

Walking down Fifth Avenue today, after going though Central Park, I saw this slogan as part of a window display at Henri Bendel's today -- PEACE IS THE NEW BLACK. I was in Central Park for the Chanel/Karl Lagerfeld/Zaha Hadid Mobile Art experience. It leaves for London on Sunday, and was an architectural and artistic mind-blower, long live creativity.
