Sam Russ, the principal of Sparta High school says, “The money for our books comes from our curriculum budget and work books come from our High school budget.”
Although, what is a curriculum budget and how do we get the money?
Tom Stewart says, “Curriculum has different meanings, they can be grants from federal funding which is funded by Karl Perkins or they can be funded through regular taxable funding.”
There is always left over money that has a purpose, but some wonder where it really goes.
Stewart replies, “The referendum has the money in it from previous years, when we use money from the previous year and we add more in, yet don’t use it there is always going to be left over money, here at Sparta High School.”
Some subjects really are in need of books, versus other subjects. Also some subjects don’t use their books but some don’t even use books.
Kevin Kravik, a Social Studies teacher says, “We need new Geography books because the ones we have pages falling out and the bindings are ripping out, plus they are dated back to 1999.” “I think that just getting a classroom set would be beneficial as well, they would stay in good condition.”
Subjects are scheduled to get new books, through a rotational process, although it can be confusing.
Stewart says, “It depends on the need and also, I rotate the books.” “Physical science, just got new books, but recently Math, U.S history, Spanish, and Economics classrooms got new books.”
Some teachers feel that online books would be a great thing to happen at Sparta High school, although are unsure if it will get to that point.
Kravik adds, “I thought about doing books online, but don’t think it will happen before four years, also getting I Pads was an option in my mind, they would run off the Wi-Fi offered here at Sparta.”
Some teachers and students are wondering if we will ever get online books, I Pads, or laptops.
Kravik adds, “I can definitely see going paperless; and I think it will be beneficial for the students, they would no longer be lugging around the heavy books.”
Russ stated, “I believe the future books will be online and I Pads are a possibility but as of now some books are online but have a classroom set at hand.”

The Sports and Entertainment Class held black out night Thursday Night at Wrestling.
]]>Dan Korn talked about replacing the boiler in the 2000 edition with two smaller boilers that would be a more ideal solution because, they would be more effeicent and if one of the smaller boilers were to have problems the other small boiler could pick of the slack from the broken down boiler
According to Mr. Konz, head of building and grounds; the hot water boilers at the A and E center that were installed in 1986 are in need of fifteen to twenty thousand dollars of operating repairs. One of the things that needs to be repaired on the large boilers are the big doors due to the refractory starting to break down. They are looking at tearing out possibly one boiler or possibly both and replacing one boiler with two smaller boilers. Which means depending on the engineer study if both large boilers were to get torn out they would be replaced with four smaller boilers. The smaller boilers would mean new boilers for the building as well as energy savings.
