No-poo Again

Just went No Poo again. It seems as if I would be doing this every summer, only to revert back to lathering my hair with shampoo again, but this time it’s here to stay. I don’t recall how long I’ve been doing this, but I think I started around mid-April. I went through the phase where my dandruffs fall like the rain (thanks to my dry scalp), and it never really made sense to me why. Now it is June, I don’t have any more dandruffs, which means I can run my fingers through my hair without fear of a dandruff explosion, and my hair feels a lot stronger than before when it felt spindly and thin. I think it was worth the wait of one and a half months.

Shampoo-less

It’s been a while.

Well, it seemed like the last time I wrote on this blog was last year, literally. And it wasn’t last year but New Year’s Day! I visited this site after get bored of Chinese homework, and seeing that the layout I had on this wasn’t really all that bad looking, I decided to go back writing on this blog. In the meantime while I was idled on this blog I had been writing in a laboratory notebook my father gave me that had been taking up too much space at his office. I wrote in it for half a year, maybe, and stopped when school started. Alternating between writing on this blog and writing in my journal might be what I will be opting for, the journal being more centered around my life and this blog being more centered around things I do (the subject of my title is an example).

As the title suggests, somebody hasn’t been using shampoo. That somebody is me (for those of you who know me and happen to stumble upon this blog, don’t judge me. Please!). It has been four odd months since I resolved to abandon using shampoo after reading an article on the Internet which looked pretty valid. Here’s the background (in a very small nutshell with the ‘poo-less bias): When you use shampoo, it acts as a detergent with its nasty-ass sulfur-whateverthehellsinthiscompound and maliciously strips off ALL the hair’s oils, including the natural good ones. We don’t need shampoo. Period. It was sort of like promising me that I would be more natural in terms of my hair and oil production, and that dandruff would be gone (although dandruff was really never an issue for me). Alas, nobody is created alike. I do have to point out a discrepancy with my abandoning of shampoo that I didn’t make it as gradual as the article explained; I ditched the ‘poo right on the first shower.

Four months later; my hair does seem to have adjusted to life without shampoo as my hair oil production has gone down to what I suppose is normal for now. The dandruff is what I’m worried about, though. Oh yeah, and I inherited my super-dry skin (no eczema) from my dad (just a little side-note). After my water-only shower, and after my hair dried, one brush of my hair would (ready for this nasty part?) send particles of dead skin flying out of my scalp. Okay, I know I could have said that in two words, but the bottom line is either I haven’t ‘poo-less for long enough (I heartily disagree with that) or my scalp is way too dry. I’m leaning towards the latter. I know that dandruff is a problem that started when I ditched the shampoo because that’s what I had been listening to from my mom for the past four months. I still believe in this ‘poo-less campaign, but I decided after reading this message board that it was more socially acceptable to use shampoo (bein’ in school with people starin’ at the back of yo head). Nobody knows yet (except for the people reading this), so I am sort of safe. When I see the end of high school I will reinitiate this ‘poo-less thingamajig if my memory does not fail me. Before my ‘poo-less venture my mom never complained about my dandruffs, so back to using shampoo my resolution would be. But that’s just me.

Oh yeah! 2010 is here! Well no big deal. I haven’t posted any posts of me progressing as I go lefty because one, it’s all the same. Just to tell you penmanship is the same, but I write considerably faster. Two, nobody reads it. Nobody even looks at this blog, so I don’t see the point in posting anything.

As part of my tradition which only I take part in, I clean out my office or workspace. My New Years Resolution is to be ambidextrous and to learn how to use all of my software (that includes operating systems) and learn coding languages. Currently, I am waging war against procrastination. It’s kind of a sad thing; I used to be allies with it. Now it’s just slowing me down. Since I am currently trying to contain it it does not need to be on my resolution list. So ya.

Day 3. Getting used to using my left hand, still need to remember to brush my teeth with my left hand. I think my penmanship got a little worse, it’s a little disappointing. Nothing much to write about.

Going Lefty — Day 2

Okay, so I forgot to brush with my left again, but no biggy right? At least my left hand got better at writing. It’s still aching after I finish writing a few sentences, but overall I think it looks a little neater. In this one, I wrote my name, and “The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog” twice. Then I drew a picture and labeled it, followed by the alphabet. Here it is:

Going Lefty — Day 1

It’s Winter Break! Finally, but I have nothing else to do other than juggle and do homework. So I decided to see if I can go lefty for two weeks. This is day 1. So I’m going to switch over to my left hand. I’m going to switch my mouse over, eat with my left hand even though I just ate yogurt with my right hand, and write with my left hand. It’s going to be interesting. This is just going to be a log of how I go. I might miss a few days though.

So I planned on writing a paragraph every day at least. My writing and penmanship SUCKS! My left hand is slow and sloppy, although I can say it’s better than the righties in my class. Heck I even write neater than a lefty in my science lab group. LOL! Anyways I wrote down part of the song “Boulevard of Broken Dreams” and tried reversing my right hand writing like a mirror. Here’s a picture:

Yeah. It took me a while to write this post because every time I tried clicking on the “Publish” button my left hand would falter and go out of control, resulting in me clicking on some random site that is NOT the WP Control Panel and then I would have to use my left hand to navigate back to the site and redo the entire thing. Well, I can feel the burn in my left hand, yes there is a burning feeling like I have used it to carry something heavy. I’m signing out now.
