Just south of the intersection for North Druid Hills Road and Clairmont Road is a funky old late 60s-era Arby’s building with a very distinctive shape. It’s been home to a number of establishments since I first started traveling through the area in the mid-aughts, the most notable of which so far was korean-fusion joint Sobban.

While I will always mourn the loss of Sobban, my interest was piqued when I saw the classic Arby’s curve painted in a new color and a new sign installed announcing the opening of Golden Drops Cafe: American & Latin Coffee Bar. I wasn’t really sure what would constitute a latin coffee bar, so I dropped in to check it out.

Some say this spot is cursed, but I completely buy the Sobban team’s story that it was closed due to the opening of a new Heirloom BBQ in Seoul, South Korea and that, therefore, Sobban has actually totally broken the curse and was a success and not another statistic. Why yes, the koolaid tastes just fine, thank you. So anyway, I love the vintage weirdness about this spot, and I loved Sobban, so I was quite curious to see the inside.

As it turns out, a lot of what Sobban had done inside was classy enough to leave and is still there. My favorite original tile floor is still in situ, and overall this seems like a really nice place to have coffee, with nice calming colors and lots of natural light.

Dat floor doe.

Since he took my order, I had the opportunity to chat a bit with Victor, the owner. He’s from the Dominican Republic, and has lived in Atlanta for 24 years. He gets his high quality coffee (roasted by Four Monkeys) and award-winning baristas from El Salvador. His chef is a talented Brazilian lady and she is responsible for the yummy-looking pastries in the counter (including pão de queijo!). So we’ve got a variety of latin influences and a focus on quality. Intriguing!

Food items.

I haven’t yet had any food myself, but I have already come back for another sampling of drinks. The Golden latte is very yummy! The peppermint latte Adam got once was not to our taste, but that was due entirely to our dislike of most artificial flavorings. We should have known better. I have also had their Chai latte and it was very good, though the Golden is still my favorite. It’s also Adam’s favorite, and that’s pretty high praise from a guy who’d usually prefer chai over coffee.

Golden latte, the cafe’s signature drink.

While I am cheap and make my own tea or coffee at home 99.5% of the time, I am a bit hooked on the Golden latte now and can definitely envision Adam and I wandering into Golden Drops on the weekends on a semi-regular basis. The atmosphere is quiet and nice. I am not 100% sure if there is WiFi, but if so… man it would be the perfect place for me to remote work. Way better than a noisy Starbucks.

Still, curse or no curse, this is a challenging location near one of the most dangerous intersections in the metro area. That is to say, people are driving quickly and distractedly around here, and not necessarily keeping an eye out for a unique coffee joint. So, I am keeping my fingers crossed for Golden Drops. In the meantime, I encourage you to try this distinctive and interesting latin cafe if you find yourself in the Toco Hills area. 4 stars.

Now, the hubs and I have grown up somewhat from when we first started the Buford Highway Food Expedition that gave this random assemblage of words some focus. It’s been a gradual process, but our lifestyle is very different these days and the idea of going out for a salad was a very hard sell. I mean, we eat salads and other healthy food all the time and salads are cheap and we only eat out one or two times a week – why should we go out to eat a salad? The answer is, of course, for science – because we are going to all of the places on Cheshire Bridge just like we did on Buford Highway. And the other answer is, we’re perhaps not typical Atlantans, and that for folks who do eat out a lot having a healthy option around would be nice. So we went!

The inside is nice and the menu is clear and easy to understand. We went with the Southern Cobb salad to make the salad into something a little more exciting, less healthy, and different from what we make at home. Also, a buffalo shrimp caesar wrap and a cup of clam chowder.

Southern Cobb salad ($9.99).

The salad was interesting! We did not expect the fried chicken to be cooked in what I will probably very ignorantly call “american chinese food style”… check out the photo and you’ll see what I mean. It’s like sesame chicken or general tsos before the sauce. Light and crispy and still moist on the inside. A pleasant surprise and nice twist. The salad was big and filling and had just the right amount of dressing to be truly enjoyable (AKA more than I would put on at home, haha).

Buffalo shrimp caesar wrap ($9.99).

The wrap was big and tasted good as well. The buffalo taste wasn’t quite as trashy as you’ll typically see at big chains, so it felt a little healthier.

Cup of clam chowder soup ($3.99).

The clam chowder was pretty standard and tasted just like you’d want and expect it to on a chilly and cloudy day.

Overall, Salad Express makes a nice healthier option for those in the area looking for good food quickly. Good job, Salad Express. Surprisingly, I could see myself coming back here after all – this joint seems perfect for when you’ve been out of town for a while and have nothing in the fridge, don’t want to shop, but also feel like a pig from all the vacation eating. 3 stars.

Once upon a time, I would have to drag my lazy butt 45+ minutes out to Suwanee to get good ramen at Umaido – but no more! Now, there is Hajime on Cheshire Bridge in the Cheshire Square shopping center. Using the same wonderful noodles, and practically the same menu all around, Hajime is a much more convenient tonkatsu fix for the ITP crowd than its older sister restaurant.

As of the time of this writing I’ve been to Hajime 3 or so times, so here are some of the various dishes I have tried.

Jalapeno takoyaki, $7.

Jalapeno twist on the takoyaki I loved from Umaido. The most recent time I went to Umaido, I had ordered this takoyaki again and it wasn’t as good as I remembered it from years back. Here at Hajime, the quality was comparable to that more recent trip. I am not sure if it was my taste buds or the recipe itself that changed. Still good, though and would order again.

Ultra spicy ramen level 12.

At Umaido, I had always taken the Ultra Spicy Ramen menu listing at face value and not given it much thought as it listed the spice levels as 1, 2, 3, ?. Turns out the levels go up to 50 and beyond, though apparently at that high level, the soup becomes mostly paste due to the sheer volume of spices in it. So, here I tried the ultra spicy (with the yellow noodles subbed in place of the spicy noodles, whose texture I don’t enjoy as much) at level 12. It was definitely spicy, but it didn’t quite blow my face off. However, I doubt I would push it any farther because I enjoy actually tasting my food, haha.

Tonkatsu ramen ($10) with rich broth upsell ($1).

I remembered that I wasn’t a huge fan of the honey miso ramen, so when I felt ready to try something other than the ultra spicy ramen, I went for the classic tonkatsu with rich broth. This is a plain, comfort food kind of dish that is yummy and very rich (well, especially with the rich broth upgrade). Mild flavor and than fatty broth sheen.

Wasabi shoya ramen (~$12) with spicy cod roe upsell ($3).

A surprise delight was the wasabi shoya ramen dish. This subtly wonderful dish has a seafood broth and pork slices. I paid for a spicy cod roe upgrade, but because the roe is so small, it immediately got totally lost in the soup, so I am not sure I would recommend that exact upsell. The broth itself is mildly seafood-y and has a wonderful wasabi flavor that you will not miss but that also does not overwhelm. Very harmonious balance of tastes – two thumbs up on this one.

The kae dama noodle refill.

As with Umaido, one can get extra noodles for a small price, using your remaining broth and toppings as the foundation for your second helping.

Overall, I approve of Hajime and am sure it will be part of our regular rotation due to the convenient intown location. By the by, the restaurant is tucked in a back corner, kind of behind Rain.

When I inquired why the restaurant is called Hajime, I was told that it is because this restaurant concept is different from Umaido, but it doesn’t really seem all that different to me. I consider it just as good and worlds more convenient than the original. If you haven’t been yet, I highly recommend it! 4 solid stars.

I have a little bit of prejudice against thai restaurants. Not because I don’t like thai food, but because I feel like I can’t really get to know it… it feels like thai restaurants are more likely to be americanized, like many chinese restaurants are. And the name “Rain Thai and Sushi Bar” did not inspire confidence as to getting authentic food, since I associate sushi with Japan and not Thailand – perhaps incorrectly since there seem to be about a million thai and sushi joints across the US and beyond.

So maybe I just need to get over it – these places wouldn’t exist if they didn’t have patronage and why does everything have to be “authentic” anyway? What does that even mean for life in the post-prejudice melting pot world I so fervently hope we are close to achieving?

But the menu surprised me a little; I saw some familiar thai dishes as well as some new ones with convincingly “thai enough” names to make me feel a little better, since I seem to be hung up on this whole authenticity thing. While we didn’t order anything from it, the specials board looked like fun… sake martini and all. Being that the name Rain Thai and Sushi seemed to imply we should order both thai food and sushi, we did just that.

Served with spicy thai dipping sauce nam jim jaew. $7.95.

We started with the moo ping appetizer which we both thoroughly enjoyed. I especially liked the nam jim jaew, which seems to be mostly fish sauce, chiles, tamarind pulp, green onions, and sugar. Good dish that I would order again.

Curry duck, fried duck breast in curry sauce. $17.95.

I ordered the curry duck. It was served with white rice that is not pictured. The dish was marked as spicy and while it had some heat it was overall pretty mild, but yummy. There was a decent amount of duck involved to make it seem worth the price, and it was well-prepared with nice texture.

Home Alone sushi combo ($24.95) with spicy tuna roll substituting for the California roll ($3).

Adam got the Home Alone sushi combo, subbing out the California roll for a spicy tuna roll for an extra three bucks. We aren’t fans of California rolls. The quality of sushi was less than Adam has hoped for, but perhaps just what one should expect from a mid-range non-japanese restaurant. Or is that cuisine-prejudice rearing its head again? At any rate, it was just fine, but not wonderful. We didn’t get a dish for our soy sauce, and after trying to use a saucer for that purpose, someone finally took pity on us and brought one along.

The service was attentive and very friendly despite the regular flow of people while we were there. We saw regulars get greeted with genuine pleasure, so this seems like a great neighborhood joint if it’s the type of place that suits your fancy. I probably wouldn’t come back myself unless a friend wanted to, but that’s more to do with me than with Rain, which seems to be well-loved by its clientele. 3 unobjectionable, safe stars.

8° Fahrenheit Ice Cream brings the thai rolled ice cream concept to Atlanta with a locations in Duluth, Doraville, and one set to open in Marietta soon. As with many such trends that are attributed to other cultures, I raised my eyebrow and turned to the internet for more background information. Indeed, I am pleased to report that thai rolled ice cream is not the newest belgian waffle or french fry: it is a thing you see being sold by street vendors in Thailand. So, that’s a plus one for 8° Fahrenheit in my book, before I even step foot inside.

The BuHi location opened this spring (right by Bei Jing Kabobs), and it took me ’til September to give it a try, and only then because our former contributor Anish tipped me off.

Here’s how it works. First, the liquid ice cream and the mix items are put on a very cold (presumably 8°F surface and the mix ingredients are quickly cut in. Next, the mixture is spread out on the surfaces where it very quickly turns into ice cream. Finally, the ice cream is scraped up into seven rolls that are arranged in the paper cup and topped with your choice of up to three toppings.

The first time, I tried the Strawberry Shawty (I had to – I’m a lifelong fan of graham crackers) with blueberries, brownie, and Pocky. If you know me IRL, then you know that I don’t like to mix my fruity-type desserts with my chocolately-type desserts, but I wanted the Pocky for the photos I knew I would take, and at that point, why not get the brownie also? Besides, I totally ate those things first and just had my strawberry-graham cracker-blueberry concoction as a standalone. Win-win.

The Strawberry Shawty (strawberry ice cream mixed with graham crackers) topped with Pocky, brownie, blueberries.

The second time, I brought Adam along and I let him pick the flavors since I’d already been. He went with the vanilla, Nutella, ‘Nilla wafer mixture called Ferrero and topped it off with Pocky, KitKat, and brownie. This time we ate the Pocky and KitKat separately and the brownie was kind of mixed in as we shared. The serving size is surprisingly filling when you buy them one per person, and not so bad to share, especially if you’ve just come from a heavy meal (Bayou Boil).

The Ferrero (vanilla ice cream mixed with Nutella and vanilla wafers) topped with Pocky, brownie, KitKat.

You should know: this place is basically cash only due to a $10 minimum for credit card use. Secondly, the wait can sometime be a bit long, due to the steps involved in making the process. The atmosphere is fun, with murals and chalk paintings on the wall and the windows covered with Post-It notes with whatever weird things people have felt like writing.

As far as the ice cream and toppings go, they are pretty run of the mill in terms of quality but you do get some more interesting options like you would at Suno, such as lychee. So you come here for the novelty of it as opposed to artisanal, handcrafted what-have-you. And for that, 8° Fahrenheit delivers satisfactorily. 3.5 stars.

A lot has changed since our first jaunt up Buford Highway, and one up them is a little mini-explosion of seafood boil type places. The Bayou Boil had better reviews on Yelp, so that is where we started. Plus it’s in the old Little Szechuan spot and the restaurant was good before it moved, so maybe there’s good juju?

The inside is very nice, but not as nice as the staff who were all super nice. Sadly, this joint is coming up on a year without its liquor license, so the “and bar” part is stuck in bureaucratic limbo… boo. Also they had sold out of the crawfish beignets, so double-boo but of course neither could really be helped.

The menu was so excited that we ordered way too much food and I just couldn’t muscle through. The good news is that the Bayou Bucket made for amazing cold-out-of-the-fridge leftovers later on.

Calamari with house aioli

The calamari was solid, good crispy breading. I’m always happy when there are tails! The aioli is not for me, but it has a good flavor that I can still appreciate.

Crawfish etouffee

The etouffee is not shy. It has strong flavor and a strong kick. As a spicy-lover, you don’t often hear me complain about heat, but I felt like this dish had the kind of heat that interferes with one’s ability to enjoy flavors. Still yummy, even if it’s no Thibodeaux’s. Plus, you get the benefit of a nice crawfish (crayfish? crawdad? …the menu says crayfish so I’m sticking to that) dish that doesn’t involving picking them apart.

The Signature Bayou Bucket for 1 ($25).

Now the signature Bayou Bucket was next. The waitress put our bibs on, too funny! I won’t lie, being the crunchy-granola chick that I am, my first thought upon seeing the bucket was “I wonder if that plastic is BPA-free?!” The spice mix had good flavor and heat. I super-appreciated that there was only one potato and one corn on the cob – this bucket is not full of fillers. That’s a good thing. But then I tried the corn… and it was fantastic. I’m not sure what they did but it was super yummy and though I am typically a fan of fresh, plain corn on the al dente side, the texture of this corn was great, and the spice mix of course made it ever better.

Close up.

Overall, Adam and I had a good time at The Bayou Boil. In the grand scheme of the Atlanta food scene, Cajun isn’t highly represented, so it’s nice to have a convenient place to go get yummies like etouffee. The staff, as I said, were super nice and attentive, the decor is pleasant, and the prices are good, especially given the quantity and quality of ingredients. If you, dear reader, know who it is that they need to beg or bribe to get that liquor license pushed through, feel free to let me or Bayou Boil know… I feel like these good folks deserve it; and it would be a great accompaniment to the food. 4 stars.

Opening earlier this year in the original Gu’s Bistro space, Good Luck Gourmet has been serving the food featured in the Instagram photos that have been making me swoon since early this summer. Finally, the hubs and I got around to checking the place out and having a good old-fashioned pig out. Perfect comfort food for the gray, damp days Atlanta has been seeing a lot of lately.

Preserved Vegetable Steaming Pork ($14)

Of everything we ordered (too much) the steamed pork dish hit the table first. I was very disappointed in it visually, as it looked like a shriveled mess and nothing like the image shown on the menu – an image I recognized as a dish I had tried and liked before at Bo Bo Garden – see what we had and what I was expecting on the right.

As hungry as I was, I couldn’t enjoy this dish. The vegetables were alright, but the pork belly was more like dried tough bacon jerky and very, very salty. Not the fat, moist and luscious slices I had hoped to consume. I was disappointed at the quality for the price.

Luckily for me, there were plenty of other (cheaper, tastier) dishes hitting the table soon.

Shaanxi’s Style Cold Noodle ($8).

The Shaanxi-style cold noodle dish was one I’d seen several times on Instagram, and so when we arrived, I made it clear to Adam that we were definitely ordering this dish. And it was a decision neither of us regretted. This dish has the same type of “velvety” heat that I first experienced in Hong Kong. At the time it freaked me out (people with a history of food allergies can understand the terror of a completely new mouthfeel that is quite similar to an allergic reaction, haha). This dish was just aces, and we slaughtered the leftovers before noon the next day.

Speaking of Hong Kong, that is where Adam and I feel in love with ma-po tofu, so we had to order that, too. It wasn’t the very best ma-po I’ve ever had, but it was darn close. It had just the right amount of pork in it and the spicy and oil were delicious. The leftovers made for an excellent sack lunch at work the following week.

Chengdu-Style Dumplings – red oil ($8).

Another mandatory dish for our inaugural trip to Lucky Gourmet was the red oil Chengdu-style dumplings. I’ve craved chili oil dishes since the weather turned. This was also a winsome dish that we both savored very much. It really hit the spot. By the by, you can also get these dumplings with chicken soup or hot and sour sauce instead of the chili oil.

Overall, we had a great time at Good Luck Gourmet. It seems like some dishes are more popular than others and that therefore the quality of the less popular ones may not be as great. Or maybe there’s a regional element at play at I am not aware of, but at any rate as much as the first entree was a complete and utter flop to my palate, the other dishes were all elegant, spicy swan dives of deliciousness. Would definitely go again.

Location: Savannah, GA
Brew: Hop’lin IPA

Merchant: Decatur Mini Kroger
Service: 22 oz Bottle

Style: India Pale Ale
Color: Orange (12 SRM)
IBU: 65
ABV: 6.3%

Temp: 48º

Expectations/Notes: Reviewing another IPA? Yes. I love IPA’s, and like most of the varieties I try, I didn’t expect to be inspired to write about this one. It’s not that I assumed it wouldn’t be worthy, it’s that most (almost all, really) are so good. If you are a hop-head, when is the last time you had bad IPA? It’s rare. That’s why I’m a little at odds with what is probably my favorite style; the standard is incredibly narrow and they are extremely consistent across all brewers. It’s a wonderful thing. I purchased Hop’lin expecting a delicious India Pale Ale. At this point you have probably figured out that this one is worth writing about.

Pour: Hop’lin pours out of the can very cloudy and slightly dark for the style. I love cloudy IPA’s, they’re so hot right now. The label mentions caramel flavor so I’m looking forward to it. Last pouring note, even with a hard pour down the center of the glass there isn’t much head so the carbonation should be pretty light.

Smell: A light hop aroma over very subtle hints of caramel and citrus.

Taste: The first drag is very hopped up. A resiny mouth feel is present immediately. This beer is dry-hopped big-time. The caramel malt flavor is right there too. They make a great bitter and sweet contrast.

The carbonation is medium to light and the malt back-bone is average.

It’s hard to stand out in the crowded IPA field but the hop oils in Hop’lin are doing a fantastic job. The bitterness sticks around and gets richer and drier. Late in the glass, once the palate is thoroughly coated, it gets piny and floral. At this point the caramel is covered by the bitter hops but I’m not complaining.

Final thought: I love hops and Hop’lin delivers. It also delivers more complexity. Cloudy IPA’s, so hot right now.

Pair with: Vinegar covered chips, blue cheese or goat cheese and crackers or a bratwurst.

3 Caps

Just recently I was happily invited to dine at Clark & Schwenks Seafood & Oyster Bar. This swank, pseudo-midcentury seafood restaurant has been here on Cobb Parkway all this time, and I never knew.

As you can see the inside is pretty upscale, belying its strip shopping center location and busy parking lot. C&S seems perfect for a romantic evening out, and definitely doesn’t come off either as chintzy or kid-oriented. A great pick for a date night or anniversary dinner spot.

We got our meal started off right with the seafood tower, also known as le C&S plateaux de fruits de mer. Similar in format to seafood towers everywhere, this one was definitely very fresh and cold, which you don’t always see.

Le C&S plateaux de fruits de mer: 6 oysters, 6 clams, 4 jumbo shrimp, true red king crab. $80.

Next up we sampled three appetizers. Unfortunately I didn’t have a chance to snag a taste of the sea scallop dish, but isn’t that dish gorgeous? What a looker with those colorful melon balls.

My favorite was the steelhead trout crudo – it was very tasty. Steelhead is so delicious. The name scares off some people I’ve heard… I can’t imagine but if you are one of those people, go give this (or the other steelhead dish you’ll see in a minute) a try. If you like salmon, you won’t be disappointed, I promise!

Before we get to the main entrees, I need to discuss the sides because they were quite yummy. Since we were a large group, we were able to order a variety and share around.

Of course, everyone was really excited to try the lobster mac and cheese, though it’s not actually macaroni but another pasta called orchiette/orecchiette, a southern-italian pasta named for its ear-like shape. Regardless of the type of pasta, this dish was hot, very rich and cheesy, and the silky taste of the truffle oil was evident. This dish has all the soul food elements with all the the high class ingredients.

The parmesan truffle fries were a less decadent version of the familiar comfort food dish with a high-class twist. The lightness of the fries was perfect and the parmesan and truffle oil made them not only poppable but dangerously addictive.

Veggie dishes may not seems as exciting as the two previous cheesy, truffle-y refined carb dishes already mentioned, but they were also very good, especially the mushrooms.

Luckily, since I was dining with foodies, several of us wanted to try more than one thing, so we shared our entrees. I ordered the crab and parmesan-crusted flounder, and sampled the pan-roasted steelhead and the grilled swordfish.

Crab and parmesan-crusted flounder with spinach, and tomato chive oil lobster glace. $27.

The flounder is Clark & Schwenks’ most popular dish. I can see why – it is a very accessible dish. The flounder, being a whitefish, is light and flaky and the topping and sauce add extra flavor to mingle with the subtleties of the flounder. Good stuff!

Pan-roasted steelhead trout with lemon basmati rice croquettes, haricots verts, and pistachio tarragon butter. $30.

The steelhead was delicious and the rice croquettes were interesting. This is a great dish for people looking for simple but delicious fare without a lot of added fat from creamy sauces.

Grilled swordfish with confit mushroom and potato saute, blue cheese fritters and peppercorn sauce. $30.

The swordfish dish was very intriguing. Swordfish is a meaty fish, so this read like the fish version of steak and potatoes. Satisfying to eat. The blue cheese fritters were delicious! I love blue cheese, so it was great to get a burst of that tangy, sharp taste in a fun fritter form. Definitely something to try if you are a fan of blue cheese.

This was a very enjoyable meal. The fine folks at C&S were very on-point, attentive, and kind to us throughout. If you are in the northwest ‘burbs and are looking to get excellent seafood with a fine dining experience without schlepping into the heart of the city, go no farther than Clark & Schwenks Seafood and Oyster Bar.

This was a media dinner organized by Eating with Erica, PostFav, and Clark & Schwenks Seafood and Oyster Bar, and as such I did not pay for my meal.

Recently, Adam and I made our way over to Zyka in Decatur, where Scott Boulevard and Church Street meet, which we have heard an awful lot about over the years – and all of it praise. This local favorite is located in what was once a decently-sized church, taking up most of the former church space with restaurant, kitchen, and banquet hall space. The complex also houses a childcare and until recently, a Montessori school.

Needless to say, it’s an atypical arrangement, and it’s not abundantly clear where the restaurant is when you first pull into the parking lot. The entrance near the curving driveway that takes you around the corner of the building from one parking area to another, down a flight of stairs. There is some signage.

The restaurant area.

Hallway to the banquet facilities, which are impressive, being housed in the former worship space.

The interior is spacious and while there was a number of people ordering and eating, there was plenty of room to go around. However, on this particular weekend, we were feeling antisocial and lazy, so we got the food to go, went home, and curled up with piping hot indian food.

The entire takeout haul from Zyka.

Or, possibly I curled up with indian-pakastani food. I have seen a large number of people refer to this place as an indo-pak restaurant, but I am not savvy enough about pakastani food – the regional differences of indian food for that matter – to recognize the influencing ingredients or dishes that lead people to say this. Anyway, enough about my lack of indo-pak knowledge and on to the delicious food. Because it was delicious.

Chicken 65 ($6.49).

I know chicken 65 is a dish you see around on indian menus, but it has such a whitebread name that I have always avoided it, presuming it to be some sort of indian food version of General Tso’s chicken. It is a dish that actually originates from India, but with so many origin stories that it doesn’t seem anyone really knows what’s what. At any rate it is very flavorful and just the right amount of spicy – definitely a dish I will look out for on other indian restaurant menus in the future. No wonder it is so popular.

Hyderabadi button biryani ($6.99).

The biryani was quite yummy, though it doesn’t stick out in my memory as much as the one I had at Cardamom Hill does. Still a solid choice, and a nice way to work an uncommon (’round here at least) protein into your diet.

Saag paneer ($5.99).

Saag paneer is one of my all-time favorite dishes. All indian dishes feature spinach please me, I feel like the cuisine really knows how to handle spinach. This one was creamy and a bit oily and completely satisfying. Soul food.

Mango lassi ($2.99).

To top it all off, I had a mango lassi. To be honest, I don’t remember as much about the subtleties of it as I do the one I had at Naanstop, but that’s probably because this one was more normal. It was delicious and I drink it very quickly as a result, I do remember that.

I am glad we finally got acquainted with this neighborhood gem. I really liked Zyka, and while I am still likely to order from other local indian spots that deliver to my home on evenings when it’s yucky outside and I have a yen for a pre-made meal, I do genuinely intend to visit Zyka in the future. There are several items on the menu that caught my eye, including a 14th-century stew that I really want to try. So, if you’ve never eaten at Zyka before, or never eaten at a restaurant in a former church before, I urge you to go. 4 stars!
