SPCA-KK NEEDS YOU

As you may know, everyone on board SPCA-KK is a volunteer. With the establishment of the new animal adoption centre in Kg. Lomunu, we need volunteers to assist with the daily maintenance of the centre and upkeep of the animals i.e bathing, feeding, cleaning cages etc. It doesn’t matter if you can spare an hour a week or every other weekend. More hands make light work! If you’d rather assist in other ways, we also have roles for volunteers in animal rescue, event organizing, education and publicity to name a few.

Many of you took the time to visit our many Fundraising and Awareness Campaigns throughout KK in the past couple of months.

We are almost there: SPCA-KK is urgently trying to raise RM24,000 to complete the construction of toilets, septic tanks, the visitor centre and kitchen, among others.

Members of the public have also stepped up to donate construction materials – a big thank you! The centre also needs cages (preferably 6′ X 4′), carriers, towels (used or new), feeding bowls, litter trays, pet food, old newspapers and rice. SHAVE TO SAVE

Going bald to raise funds for the animals

In a bold (or should we say, bald) move to help the animals, SPCA-KK is organizing ‘Shave to Save’ a unique fund-raising campaign in which volunteers pledge to raise funds and in return, shave their heads completely bald as a gesture of awareness, sympathy and empathy for animals in need.

So far, four individuals have stepped up (two ladies and two gentlemen) and pledged amounts ranging from RM3,000 to RM5,000. Upon reaching their targets, the ‘shaving ceremony’ will take place in public on the 26th of February 2012 (venue and time to be confirmed). YOU can contribute ANY AMOUNT to the volunteer of your choice, be it RM10, RM100 or even RM1,000! Our target is to raise RM20,000. Payments can be made by cheque (payable to ‘SPCA KK’ and mailed to SPCA KK, P.O. Box 17338, 88873 Kota Kinabalu Sabah Malaysia), by fund-transfer to Maybank account number 560072005581 (under ‘SPCA Kota Kinabalu’) and also by cash. All donations made to SPCA-KK are tax-deductible.
