Realities of the regime: The persecution of the Baha'is of Iran

Despite being one of the world's most widespread religions, little is known in the West of the Baha'i faith. In it's homeland of Iran, Baha'is have been persecuted by their government for years. As rebellion against the government continues to be expressed in the streets of Tehran, the government has stepped up efforts to use the Baha'is of Iran as scapegoats for the country's turmoil. Find out how Iran's largest religious minority is being systematically targeted behind the closed doors of the regime.

<itunes:summary>Last Tuesday was World AIDS Day. A day we set aside to remember those who have perished as a result of the disease, and a day we use to honor those who battle it bravely.

This year has been a progressive one, in terms of treatment and accessibility to treatments. Though many have died as a result of HIV/AIDS, the overall number of those infected has not risen in the last two years.
With major efforts by the National Institutes of Health and other nations planned for the upcoming year, the goal, on this World AIDS Day, is to decrease that number in the upcoming years.

AIDS and hunger go hand in hand, especially in sub-Saharan Africa. The two are not unrelated and often the same people are afflicted by both undernutrition and a lack of access to drugs.

Listen to the podcast to find out what country is making waves with its new announcement on AIDS treatment, and what the U.S. is doing, and should do, to be a leader in the field.</itunes:summary>

Almost one third of Toronto’s entire population visited a food bank last year, an astonishingly large number for a developed North American metropolis.
