2) Read before watching?

I highly recommend the entire Hunger Games trilogy.  I enjoyed them immensely.  While they won't be mistaken for great literature, I think that they are all well-written and engaging.  Teenagers are the target demographic, but

I. Loved. It.

It stayed true to the book, and I thought the casting (for the most part) was excellent.  Woody Harrellson was a brilliant choice for Haymitch, and Jennifer Lawrence was an excellent Katniss.  The only real quibble I have with casting is that I thought the actor who played Gale was a little too much of a pretty boy.  I would have chosen

I hate cupcakes.

You heard me.  

I am not a fan of the cupcake.

Sure, they taste good, but they're hard to eat... that little paper cup is awkward, and the frosting makes them messy. 

The frosting issue can be solved by licking it all off of the top first, but that's frowned upon in most circles.

What's wrong with a nice Bundt cake?

Oh, sure.  She's cute.  She's cuddly.  She looks all smiley and delightful.

But, hiding beneath that adorable exterior is a mischievous little devil-dog.  A naughty whirling dervish with a stubborn streak a mile wide.

I loved The Monkees back in the day. I had all of their albums on vinyl, and I have vivid memories of racing home after school to watch Monkees reruns on TV. The final bell rang at 3:15, and the show came on at 3:30, so I'd haul all of the books needed for homework to my last class so I wouldn't have to waste precious time

I've been just standing for the last two years.

And, what sucks the most is that I have no idea which way I should go.  Or even how to go about figuring it out.

The band sounded great.  Black Dog, Immigrant Song, Kashmir, Stairway to Heaven... they all sound just as fabulous today as they did back in the day.

My only quibble is that they didn't play my favorite Zeppelin song.

I have discovered that the stuffed animals have been a waste of precious cash.

Ahead of their official state visit Thursday, President Obama is having dinner tonight with President Lee of South Korea.

Obama, perhaps trying to show Lee how it’s done in the U.S., is dining with Lee at Woo Lae Oak, a Korean restaurant in Tyson’s Corner, Va.

And, if you don't need it... well, I just don't know what to say to you. They told me the big black Lab's name was Reggie, as I looked at him lying in his pen.  The shelter was clean, no-kill, and the people were really friendly.
