I saw photos of Alaia Rose on instagram. Googled this little tot (is that redundant? anyway...) and was linked to Monica Rose's blog. Initial reaction was, "this must be her mom's blog". Correct. Then knew that she's a stylist to celebrities --to the Kardashians [not a fan ;p], for instance.

Contrary to my title, I actually want a baby boy over a girl. Her pictures just made me want to have a girl --to have her actually!!!

And despite me admiring her ~style~, I think I wouldn't spend much on kid's clothes. I don't know. I just think that kids outgrow clothes really REALLY fast. But please dear God, I want super cute, super pretty kids! ;p

DAY 4

As per usual, day started by having breakfast in the hotel (Centara Grand Central World).
Day 4 was our technical tour day.
On our way to SCG Experience, we passed by temples and stopped by this structure which they say is quite similar to that of St. Peter's Basilica, Rome only smaller.

Oh, forgot to mention in my first post! When I first went to Bangkok, Thai people looked pretty much like us!! Well, they still do! But now, I saw beautiful, shalen (translation: sassy) girls everywhere!!!!! They're so pretty and really very fashyown!!! They were also carrying designer bags! Love! <3

After, we went to Mo-Mo Paradise for (shabu-shabu) lunch.

After lunch, off we went to Architecture Fair 2012 at Impact Arena!

Almost everyone, if not everyone, requested additional time for shopping!! LOBBIED: We want to go back to Platinum Mall!!!! 1 hour wasn't enough, hrhr! We are in Bangkok for crying out loud, shopping must be the top most priority, LOLJK! ;p Nothing to complain about this trip! It's my best trip everrrrr!!! God has been really great and gracious! Anyway, so our time in Architecture Fair was cut short --we only visited SCG's booth, the biggest booth in the fair. Yay! With that, we had more or less 2 hours to shop back at Platinum Mall before our dinner at Red Sky. Ok na, kesa nganga! ;p
We wasted no time, off we walked to Platinum Mall the moment we reached the hotel!
Platinum Mall closes at 7freakin'PM! They should be open till midnight MY GOLLY!!!!!!!!!!!!! :3

Even though I went to Bangkok in 2007, this was the only time I really became vigilant with regards to shopping. I only buy and well, wear shirts and jeans during my younger, nene years. :) I enjoyed every minute of it this time!!!
Amongst all the few Asian countries I've been to (say, Hongkong, China, Singapore, Malaysia, Macau), I must say that Bangkok (esp. Platinum Mall!!) is the best shopping destination evarrrrrr!!! Talk about WHOLESALE SHOPPING AT ITS BEST! You get your purchases at wholesale price if you get two (ONLY TWO!! MINIMUM OF TWO!!) items from a store!! Yes, not necessarily same item, ANY ITEM in the store will do! Winner!
I wasn't able to spend all my (baht) money. ;( Wanted to buy stuff to sell @ Schmug, but then again two hours wasn't nearly enough. Take me back to Bangkok!!!!!

Went back to the hotel at 7pm for our dinner at Red Sky Restaurant located at the 55th floor of our hotel's (CTW) building.

LOVED THIS salmon entrée, and the salad too (no photo)!!!! I finished two plates since the kids didn't like it! Yay for me! <3

They announced that they'll raffle prizes!! They raffled five Apple gadgets: three iPod touch, one iPhone 4S, and one iPad 4G.
Guess what I got to bring home?!!!!

O diba, these are the insurmountable blessings I could have missed if I decided not to go anymore / if the fear became stronger than the interest!

OUR LAST DAY IN THAILAND! Awww!
Before going to the airport, we stopped by a market to buy pasalubongzzzz --tamarind, tamarind candy, durian chips, dried (ready-to-eat) squid [chips], and some even bought fruits.

Thailand 2012: Day 1 - Day 3

I've always wanted to travel alone, but I didn't know it will come this soon! I remember some friends and I were talking about wanting to work on a distant land. It madly excite the hunger for *independence and having this clean slate feeling hrhr in me. So, when dad asked me if I want to go to Thailand (all by myself!!!, together with delegates/dealers from other companies who met SCG's quota), I immediately said yes --all fears and what ifs aside. On second thought, saying yes is an understatement!! I insisted, more so! ;P

As the day became closer and closer, I honestly wanted to back out! I was uncertain! I know, I know, Thailand lang yun! 5 days lang yun! But I became slightly afraid. Unfortunate what ifs lingered in my sometimes 'expecting the worst' head. But hey, bottom line is I didn't let the fear win me over. I packed my bags, went to the airport ALONE, and carried a que sera, sera mindset.

Y'know what's stopping me too? I was so ashamed! I still do not work for my dad, and yet I was sent to Thailand?! Just because I am his daughter?!!!!!! I didn't work for it; I didn't earn it! If you're going to rationalize it, I do not deserve it AT ALL! It just so happens that I am Mr. Lacson's (he is a very private man, let's keep the anonymity! JK! ;p) daughter! But you know what God told, impressed on me? The same principle works for Him. What a great privilege it is to be a child of God. And as His child, he cannot help but bless and put the favor on you, that you become a living testimony of His goodness and wonders. And you know what, the whole Thailand trip was S P L E N D I D! The unfortunate what ifs that played in my head didn't happen. As the saying goes, oftentimes the fear of something is worse than the actual thing itself. Reality was actually even the other way around.

I'll tell you the details of my (our) 5-day first all expenses paid, first time to travel alone trip through photos (of me and (with) the new people I met) and captions. ;) Come to think of it, below are the insurmountable blessings and the exceptional opportunity... and an unexpected surprise I got to bring home that I could have missed if I let fear win.... di ba?!

DAY 1

Off to Hua Hin district in Prachuap Khiri Khan Province!

3 hours travel by land from Bangkok to Hua Hin!

It's my second time in Bangkok (but 2007 pa when we went. Time flies soooo fast!!!), but first time to visit Hua Hin!!! Yay to anything new! <3

Went straight to Supatra-by-the-Sea for dinner!

Hua Hin beach!!!! Very fine, polvoron sand!!! Ahhh! Didn't get to hit the beach, though.

After stuffing ourselves, we went to Cicada Market!

I loved Cicada Market! You'll find anything artisan from paintings to notebooks to clothing to all sorts of accessories and other stuff!

We were only given 30-40 minutes to go around Cicada Market so I wasn't really able to explore the whole place. Hanggang bukana lang ako actually! And since this is our first shopping destination, I didn't really hoard. You tend to skimp and pa-wise buyer on your first hours/days thinking that you'll find better, cheaper stuff as you go along, then panic buy (spend remaining money) during your last few days. Or is it just me? I doubt!! ;p

I only bought sunnies --one for myself and one for a friend. I'll show you the sunnies I got below!!

DAY 2

Usual day starts with breakfast buffet.

After having breakfast, we went to Mrigadayavan Palace.

Dress restrictions apply to these places (temples, palace, and the like). We were advised not to wear shorts, short skirt, and sleeveless.

During my first trip here (year 2007!!!!! 5 years ago, very long time!! Ay, I mentioned na pala! ;p) with family and relatives, we had our (buffet) dinner cruise in that (modern) boat!

And that's about it!

Wanted to go out to visit nearby night markets but I had no company ;( and tinamad na when I got into my room, just slept the want off. ;p

I guess this post is too long already, so I'll just make another post for days 4-5. Plus, I'm very sleepy already! ;)

Alternatives

You know what they say, prevention is better than cure. Here are some alternatives that could change anyone's life.

1. Ditch those bottled/cartoned juices and start making your own juice!

Currently, I am drinking three tall glasses of different mixes of fruit and even vegetable juice a day. I am on my fifth haha day of having it thrice (!!!!) a day. I increased it from once to thrice a day for reason I'd rather not divulge.

Let's face it, it would take lots of time and energy to eat a whole bunch of romaine lettuce, an apple, a pineapple, a guava, a carrot, a celery, a cucumber, beetroot, pomelo, and what have you, but with juicing you get all the nutrients from all these raw food with just one gulp. My golly, it would take a whole lifetime for me to chop, chew, and ingest all those! And if that's the case, no thank you, I honestly won't bother. Thank God there's juicing! You can infuse your body with live enzymes quite (washing, peeling, and chopping fruits and veggies, and cleaning the juicer and all utensils used is serious business, noh!) easily. We peel them and wash them properly because not many of the fruits and veggies we buy are organically grown, thus, loaded with pesticides. :(

Remember, a juicer is different from a blender. A blender will just puree them while a juicer leaves you with pure organic water from your fruits and vegetables. It is also important to consume your juice immediately because it is highly perishable esp. veggie juice, and ma always tells us that the enzymes die if we don't drink it right away.

Usual mixes we do at home:

- Pomelo and apple

- Lettuce and apple

- Guava (super rich in Vit C!) and apple

- cucumber, 3 carrots (carrots don't have much juice / water content), and apple

- forgot the others na, so much more combinations you can do! =) But yes, we almost always have apple in our mixes.

OH, and we usually put freshly picked malunggay / morninga, too, in our juices! Sometimes, wheatgrass too.

If you still have no idea what I am talking about, think juices from Fruit Magic you see in malls.

For the past number of years, we use the 6-in-1 Multipurpose Juice Extractor by Matstone. They say it's "the only juicer *that can juice malunggay".
Another alternative favorite to tetra-packed juices is buko (coconut) juice... with no added sugar please! <3

2. Eat brown rice or red rice instead of white rice

Let me just directly quote some lines from Discover Cuenca Ecuador's blog post reg. white vs. brown:

White rice, like white bread products contribute to many kinds of health afflictions, one being diabetes and at the very least, two being whacky blood sugar levels. ... White rice, unlike the whole grain brown rice makes you constipated and that will make you feel and look very unhealthy overtime.

BROWN RICE HAS:

twice the manganese and phosphorus of white.

2.5 times the iron.

3 times the vitamin B3.

4 times the vitamin B1.

10 times the vitamin B6.

and no blood sugar spikes like white rice

gives you much more energy

makes you feel and look healthier

3. Vegetable bouillon and Bragg's Liquid Aminos
Use these flavorings instead

Maggi cubes < Vegetable bouillon

Soy sauce < Bragg's Liquid Aminos

Bragg's Liquid Aminos is a personal favorite!! Whenever I steam vegetables (young corn, beans, beansprouts), I add it (or sea salt!) for the kick I want. =)

4. Vegemeat!

Personal vegemeat favorite: Bopis!!! It's even better than the 'real' bopis!! Wrap it in romaine lettuce and bam!, heaven in your mouth and tummy. <3

You can buy vegemeat in stores, um, selling them. Bodhi is one fast food chain known to serve (only) vegetarian dishes.

Vegemeat > Animal meat

5. Soya milk!

I love soya milk and I know you do too! So, I'm putting it here =)

So many more alternatives out there! Alternatives to junk food, skin (paraben free) products, vitamins / medicines, yada yada. Bottomline: Plant produced over animal produced, and natural over synthetic. But there's no better alternative to the wonders of (drinking) water. Cheers!

I got an e-mail a month or so ago and was invited by Ms. Rachel Concepcion, the owner of Get Polished! Nail Spa (yes, with an exclamation point! Spells conviction!) to try any of their 'royal/superstar treatments'. I checked on their website and got stoked right away with the wide array of services they offer! They have nail care, nail enhancements, and even eyelash extension, and waxing services.

Last week, I visited their Katipunan branch together with a good friend. I had Get Polished Spa Pedicure + which includes yes, a pedicure, and deep sea clay foot wrap. It's their detox treatment! The word and description detox totally got me! For my hands, I had classic manicure. :)

Ms. Cherry asked me to choose among the available GP! salt scrub variants. I had hard time choosing since everything smelled so revitalizing!

I ended up having the Citrus and Green Tea scrub which they say goes well with GP Spa Pedi +.

After that, we chose our polish. They have wide selection of nail polish! The brands they carry are really good! They have Opi Nail Lacquer, Essie, Orly, Color Club, Zora, China Glaze Nail Lacquer, and a whole lot more! It made choosing twice, thrice harder!!

Since I am Ms. Safe, I chose OPI's Manicurist of Seville which is a rich sangria color.

Elena chose a polish from Zoya --something neon (forgot what the color is called exactly), perfect for the holidays daw. :)

Sigfrid saw the bubbles and wanted to put in his feet too!!! Soo cute!!

We had to tell him that it's for girls only! Thank God he didn't throw a tantrum!

Anyhoo, ate silently and carefully doing my feet!

If you want attendants who will silently (no gossiping, no attendants talking loudly who know that you go to a nail spa to have a quiet time and not some sort of bubbly entertainment) give you the best pampering you need (at affordable service rates), then, Get Polished! Nail Spa is definitely the place you are looking for!!

Next, they applied the Citrus and Green Tea scrub for exfoliation! So aromatic!

Then, they applied the deep sea clay which stayed on my feet for 20 minutes.

Felt like taking a nap due to the short but oh-so-good therapeutic hand and feet massages!!

We were attended by two staff each! One who made our feet and another one who made our hands! Felt like I was really pampered and well attended. <3

Staying at their nail spa for 3 hours was totally worth it! Loved the intimate set-up, in between hand and foot massages (AHHH soooo good!!! I actually wanted to request a prolong), and comfy spa sofa chairs.

Coron, baby, Palawan

Who doesn't want to go to places? Scratch that, who doesn't want to visit NEW places and have that YEARNED-FOR!!!! breath of fresh air! No one! N O O N E! Weeks ago, together with two awesome girl friends, we had a swell time at Coron, Palawan for four days! *100 watt smile*

I feel like I am a transformed being --someone carefree, energetic, and up to any (thinks twice) adventure -- every time I walk in awe and, well, get lost and giddy in foreign, unfamiliar streets; this is one constant thing that travelling does to me which I find really healthy.

We arrived in ~~primitive~~ Busuanga airport past 4 in the afternoon. Let me take you to all the places we went to thru photos (warning: photo heavy) and captions and more rather informative blahs.

DAY 1:

From the airport, we were fetched by a van to Darayonan where we lodged.
Darayonan has a pool!!! One of the cleanest swimming pool I swam in! Swimming in a pool never felt that good, seriously!! The water is clean and has the right temperature; it was neither hot nor cold! #notOA

5:30-6:30 PM: We were supposed to have a trek to Mount Tapyas, but we decided to couch our lazy bums.

We went to Maquinit Hot Springs right ahead instead (ahhh, very rejuvenating!!! Must visit!). The road going to the place is dark and scary as there are no lamp posts along the way. Any bad soul can harm and can kill you along the way without anyone knowing. You can scream all you want and try to get some help but to no avail, we had that sort of feeling and conversations while riding the tricycle. Good thing there are no NPAs and Coron is inhabited by good people only. According to a local, they hold a record of 0% crime rate. #howtrue

The water tasted salty and I thought that they use saline system. It was something unusual and I really thought that the salt was artificially induced to sanitize the water. But according to research, it is the only salt water hot spring in the Philippines. Ok. So, that explains why. Get ready to plunge in 40 degrees Celsius water.
Entrance fee: 150php for adults

After that, we had dinner at Kawayanan Grill. Do yourselves a favor, do not consider eating here. There are way way better choices (read further below).
The food was actually ok. I ordered sisig and I liked it --nothing special, but again, I honestly liked it and finished a whole sizzling plate and would recommend their sisig. The thing is they have small servings and they overprice, generally speaking. So, no, thank you.

DAY 2:
We spent two or even three hours sailing and in the middle of our boat ride, we stopped (not once but twice!!!) due to some boat problems and it even drizzled! @%^%$#@!@#$%! Thank God the rain didn't pour or else it will be scarier.

We were the only ones in the group who put our lifevests on, see.

First stop was Banana Island Resort where we had lunch. The beach/shore was stony. Bleech.
Entrance / environmental fee: 100php

Then, we went to Malcapuya Island. The water's soooo pristine and clean, and the sand is fine! We had a parcel of the beach for ourselves. Some opted to go snorkeling; we stayed.
Entrance / environmental fee: 200php

We had dinner at Bistro Coron. I enjoyed my meal!! Herbed slices of meat with rice, plus extra rice! Most customers shared and finished a pizza and a pasta and looked really tempting! We were actually reminded of the food in Bonito's in Los Banos, Laguna.

DAY 3:
This is our most jam-packed day. We went to five tourists attractions. Unlike day 2 though, we had shorter boat rides and the weather was ohsoperfect for the beach. Mr. Sun was smiling at us!

We fed fishes at Siete Pecados Marine Park. You stop (in the middle of the vast sea) at Siete Pecados to snorkel and marvel at what lies beneath. And there we were just swimming and pulled by kuya bangkero/guide around. ;P

Oha, lifevest + lifebuoy + kuya maneuvering us!!

Nothing spectacular. Not so much variety.

We went to Kayangan Lake next. It is dubbed as one of the cleanest lake in the Philippines. And wow, we passed through cluster of islands before we arrived at the jump-off point. It was breathtaking!! From there, we climbed up and down (300 steps, if my memory serves me right) huge slabs of stones.

We stopped by a summit and marveled at the view.

There were small small fishes swimming around near the platform.

We also swam through a small cave. It was majestic!!! It was like there were blue lights below! I was a bit scared (closeted scarred) but it was really majestic inside! Look up and you'll see small amount of sunlight passing through walls of jagged limestones nearly rubbing each other. We were reminded of ~~James Franco <33~~ 127 hours.

We had lunch at Smith's Point Beach after. It is just a small paradise but it was our most serene beach stop. The sand was really really fine like powder, crushed polvoron fine!! The sand is not composed of crushed shells and really tiny stones like most white sand beaches we already consider remarkable, rather, its sand evenly disperses in water! AMAZEEEEENG! Finest one I've ever been too, thus far!

After few good minutes of having awesome swimming time at Smith's, off we went to Skeleton Wreck where a sunken Japanese ship can be seen. They say you can see it just by snorkeling, meaning, it is not that deep. We were actually wondering how a ship (ships are huge, right) sunk there when we have a vivid view, while at the boat, of the life below. Instead of snorkeling, we fed fishes. We were adventurous like that, lelz! There were more variety of fishes here compared to Siete Pecados Marine Park.

Last in our itenerary was Twin Lagoons. It was low tide when we visited, and so we passed underneath a cave with pointy edges that can cut your skin, so you better be careful. The water here is really really strange! One moment the water is cold, and the next it is warm! I am not kidding! Just few tiny, really few tiny moves and paddles and the water temperature changes. Awesome, at the same time, pretty strange. They say it is because of the current. You must visit it and experience for yourself!!

Entrance fee: 100php per lagoon. Yes, they're twin but you have to pay separately. We just went to one lagoon.

We had dinner at Manneken Pis and bam, best dinner in Coron!!!!!! It is where I tasted the best bread in the entire world!!! I am not a bread person. I am actually a rice over bread (sandwiches, burgers) person, but I can be a convert if only I get to have their loaf every single freakin' day!!! Its slices are bigger than the typical pan available in the groceries. The size got me overwhelmed, but when I took a bite with my bacon and egg, @#$%^&*(*&^%$#, there was heaven in my mouth!!!!!!! Every munch was heaven in my mouth, sex in my mouth, and what have you! I MISS MANNEKEN PIS! They can (must) put up a branch in the city and I am damn sure that they will have lots of patrons *count me in*.

The place is nicely interiored and it's cozy inside. They have free wi-fi, some were actually bringing their laptops with them. The meals are really affordable albeit not compromising the quality and taste. Promise me you'll eat here when you visit Coron, Palawan!!

Miss B's Tuckshop

FINALLY!! We went straight to Miss B's Tuckshop after walking around and buying few stuff at The Fort. We arrived 30 minutes early; Miss B's Tuckshop opens at 5pm during Saturdays. We thought of having milk tea at Serenitea, just few blocks away, while on idle but decided not to anymore since we'll be having milkshake at Miss B's. #stoked

Miss B's Tuckshop, from the term 'tuckshop' (usually and correctly (?) spelled in two separate words) itself, is a small food shop, usually pertaining to a school canteen. The best part? They don't add monosodium glutamate (yes, vetsin. yes, aji-no-moto), and other artificial flavors and enhancers in all of the dishes they serve. They are not killing their customers; they know their health bible!

On one end, not that I made a big deal out of it, when we arrived 4:30 in the afternoon, I turned the doorknob and fortunately, the door was open. I asked the owner (I think she's one of the owners) if they're open already and told me that they'll open by 5, just as expected. We went back just few minutes before 5pm. I opened the door again and asked their waitress --the first person I saw this time --if we can come in already. She said they'll open at 6freakin'PM!!!! I was a bit bewildered and told her that the owner told me to come back at 5pm. And hello, it says in your websites and other online review articles that you open 5pm during Saturdays. Simple! She didn't know what to say, so, she asked the owner about it, walked towards their kitchen, went back to me and told me, "ok, you may come in. We are open already". It was just disappointing. We went there few weeks before, too, at around 10 in the evening and the same waitress told me that they're not yet open or they just closed. I really couldn't understand her since she didn't even bother go outside to at least say a few words. She just did some hand signals I cannot decipher! They were supposed to be open! It says that their operating hours during Fridays is 12pm to 3AM!!! WHYYYYY! Ha ha ha, it sounded like I flared up, but not really.

Miss B’s Tuckshop is our version of a hole-in-the-wall, urban cafeteria. “Tuckshop” was coined from the commonwealth term meaning “canteen”. The restaurant wishes to strip every guest off all frills from their usual dining experience and bring back the ease of eating classic ‘junk food” (without the gunk!). Our goal is to preserve the simplicity of real flavors while not having to hold back on the playful side of food and the overall dining experience. Our back-to-basics approach to food comes from our deepest desire to bring back quality in junk food per se. Miss B’s daily challenge is to produce honest fast food which people can identify with wherein satisfaction is always above and beyond paid value. I usually tend to compare. The best burger, amongst all of the burgers I had so far, is Wingman's... and still remains my favorite. ;)

But I want to try their Crispy Pork Confit burger next time!

Reg. their beef

The beef that they use is 100% grass-fed! Great! And I agree, it is loaded with real beefy goodness! I don't know if it is the same with burgers in Wingman. If not, I don't think they're comparable anymore, haha! I have bias towards food houses who lean towards serving lesser evil, alternative food to their customers since we, most of the time, really do not know the source of the food we eat and what artificial enhancers they add when we eat out.
For instance, when we dine out and order the good 'ol fried chicken, we do not know if the chicken they serve and well, we eat has been injected with steroids. When we eat in Chinese restaurants, little do we know that the food they serve have ample amount of MSG. And generally speaking, we do not know what goes on inside their kitchens. Random thoughts *insert all disturbing stories I've heard on what cooks sometimes do* on how they might have prepared my food make me puke.

Finn and I spent 750+php all-in-all which is off-budget, personally speaking. The food was ok. It'll be better and really good if they cut down their prices, heee!

I loved the concept, their Lechon Salad!!!!, their beef burger! It is the perfect place for people who get hunger pangs in the middle of the night! Food tastes soooo good during wee hours, for some reason I don't know.
I'll give it 3 out of 5 stars! =)

I accidentally deleted my text-heavy (!!!) original, supposedly post about the Multiply Shopping Party last Sunday!! So I am currently starting from scratch again *cries buckets*! Better late and redo than not to post anymore!

Here it goes AGAIN *gulps*...

I thought I wouldn't go anymore to the Multiply Shopping Party. Not because I have prior commitments, but because I only have one invite, and who wants to go to an event, to a party alone? I sure don't. Then, a friend told me that she won two invites to the party. Hopes got up, I can finally go with a friend or two. I bugged her to go, but she really can't since she's coming all the way from Batangas and the party is scheduled on a weekday, in the middle of work week. I asked her if I can have her invites instead so I can bring two friends, and she agreed. Then again, a day before the event, she still hasn't received any instruction on how to claim the invites! [INSERT LONG STORY HERE ON WHAT WE HAD TO DO AND GO THROUGH TO GET THE INSTRUCTION / CONFIRMATION FEW HOURS (!!) BEFORE THE MULTIPLY SHOPPING PARTY! *frustrating and dismayed*] Lazy to go into detail, bottom line is I was able to go with two friends!

Since this post is about Multiply Marketplace's launch, let me share reason/s on why I personally love Multiply. As some of you may know, I am the person behind Schmug (nothing grand, but yea), an online shop catering to women's needs and wants which I started managing since April of 2010. I chose Multiply as Schmug's online marketplace for a simple but non-negotiable want to somehow have a site that I can tweak the way I want to which I cannot do in most online marketplace out there. Most are asking that I transfer Schmug or create a facebook account since multiply is blocked in their offices; and most argue that they don't have a Multiply account. Belle de Jour 2012 Power Planner Launch

I accompanied my cousin to the Take Flight: BDJ Fair 2012 which was held at Eastwood last Sunday, October 16. We decided to go around the mall first to assuage the heat and since we arrived an hour early before Alyanna Martinez's talk where we were registered.

I did not expect and know that it would be an outdoor fair, hence, me in thick blazer --we went straight to Manila after our Sunday service. I know, I know, it's clearly stated that the event will be at the Eastwood Mall OPEN PARK but I didn't check on this prior. My bad. I didn't shed so much sweat, though, if you're curious. Hello, I could've removed the blazer but I didn't.

While killing time inside the mall, we went through the food stalls at the upper level. Then, we saw a Happy Lemon ad and told my cousin that I'll grab a drink/milk tea first. While waiting in line, I noticed that Alyanna Martinez was in front of us and told Ro that we're surely not late yet for the talk. Love her radiant skin as usual --good skin is one's best accessory!

Long queues greeted us when we finally headed out to go to the fair. The queue for those who pre-registered (raises hand) was longer than the queue for walk-in participants! Great turn-out, BDJ! Congrats!

I tried Green Tea with rock salt and cheese, and I honestly didn't like it!

Am I starting not to enjoy milk tea anymore? Somehow, I guess. No strong carvings for milk tea these past few weeks.

We attended the Shop Around the World talk of again, stylist Alyanna Martinez.

Finally!! Opening remarks!

Here's what I've learned, can still remember, and insights I'd like to personally share from the talk:

(1) I've only had shopped and well, window shopped to some Asian countries: Bangkok -SHOPPED! and still wanna go back, Singapore -shopped! and wanna go back, Hongkong -SHOPPED TWICE! still wanna go back, Malaysia -semi-shopped, Macau -more of food? hee. And based on her talk and based on her multiple shopping experiences around the globe, she said that her top shopping destinations are still in Asia namely Bangkok and Hongkong. I couldn't agree more! Nothing beats Bangkok and Hongkong shoppeeeeeeng! Can I just say, shopping here in the Philippines for bargains is great too and we offer lots of great locally made and designed pieces!

(2) Yes, you must visit Granville when you're in Hongkong! It's where we actually purchased so much good deal, good quality unique finds! Some indie Hongkong designers have shops there (indie = 'Thank God I got you on first dibs', trendy at the same time forward, and unique).

(3) Know when a country's sale season is.

Now that I am travelling without parental supervision and personally shelving out money on my own, this type of info, strategy matters to me now. Didn't really know the value of money before :( I skimp as much as I can now --except on good food, hee!!! It is a plus that there are LOTS of seat sale now unlike before. :) Thank you, Cebu Pacific! And thanks to Vea, the ever reliable friend when it comes to booking flights on sale and wanderlust, travel affairs, in general!

(4) Get lost!

(5) On a more personal note, more than the great shopping anyone can rave about, and more than all the tangible things you get to bring home, going to different places, crossing cultures, make you learn so much that you will never ever learn in school. Thy young mind may not have understood everything in a wink as we set foot, but there.

They often say that education is the most valuable inheritance your parents can bestow on you that no one can take away; as for me, it's every single sojourn I spent with my family that my parents funded since we were young that made me appreciate the diversity of life and the beautiful, simple, luxe things in this world. Crossing cultures and sub/territories, aside from good education, is a gem that no one can take away from you. So go ahead, take flight!

Posting two separate weekend dates I had with college friends.

(1) Two or even three weekends ago, we had our late lunch at Moshi Moshi in Katipunan before we attended Sunday service at Galleria.

(2) Chilled at Fred's late afternoon last Saturday.

I. Moshi Moshi

The food is good because (1) they have generous serving portions which would definitely make you burp and, (2) everything is budget-priced. The interior is also supercuuuute which made us actually opt to eat here.

On one end, expect Tokyo Tokyoish Japanese-kunu dishes; Japanese fastfood as I'd like to call/describe it --oily!, heavy on the stomach, satiating! The contrast that is totally not Japanese! I checked on their facebook page just now and it's actually stated that they're really bordering on as a Japanese fastfood joint! So yea, if I were to be asked once again if Moshi Moshi's Japanese fastfood dishes are worth your money and would satisfy your appetite, I'd definitely say yes and would recommend it. :)

We actually attended a wedding (Casey and Issa's! <333) before we spent the night at Mercato.

Let me tell you a story I never thought I'd share because (1) it's somewhat embarrassing, and (2) these occurrences better just be boxed and sealed; but, here it goes: In all weddings of any relative I attended in my teenage years, I didn't go to their weddings all dolled-up, not slightly even! You don't want to know what I wore, ugh, hrhr. You'd probably have noticed me in the crowd because I was one of the very few who did not conform to the 'formal' attire clearly stated on the invite. Despite being published and seen on Philippine Star and Stylebible.ph for an outfit fashyown (errr) shot, and despite me venturing in retail now, I really don't spend much time and money for a dress I'll just wear half a day; not with just my family around actually, at the very back of my mind. ;P All of my close friends are still single, if not, they haven't decided to tie the knot just yet. So, yea, I didn't give a dang. How somewhat disrespectful. Sorry, I also ruined the memorial 'picture with the relatives' photos.

With that being shared, it's my first time to finally wear a dress for a wedding, or rather, first ka-age wedding to attend to together with friends! Not that I spent money and devoted so much time to find a dress, it's just that at least I wore a dress this time. ;)

Midnight Mercato was mouthful of fun!

We went on a Saturday, last Saturday to be exact. We arrived 9:30 in the evening, Midnight Mercato opens at 10. When we got there, a number of people were already lined up outside waiting for doors to open!
The place was jam-packed! No more table for us. =S

It seemed like he was really sure of his order and was badly craving for it. When the lady asked me what my order is, I said, "orange juice" (read: safest flavor to order). There were A LOT of flavors to choose from! I really didn't know which flavor to have. I wasn't craving for any juice really = I would like to try 'em all unusual juice flavors, hrhr! She, then, said, "wala pong orange juice" (translation: we do not have orange juice), and since some people were waiting in line, santol juice it was! Nakigaya na lang ako! ;)

It was my first time to gulp down santol juice! I had never tasted it and had no idea how it'll taste like. I do not really eat fruits, in general. I am more of a veggie person. BUT boy, I really liked it! Super refreshing!!! <33333 I liked it better that my milk tea! <33333

Off Beat Burgers

Burger patty and other more (cheese, ham, and so on) sandwiched in Orginal Glazed Kripy Kreme doughnut! Hmmmm....

Since we had hard time looking for available table and seats, where better place to settle and nom than in the sidewalk!

I also enjoyed Camille and Drei's rice box with small cuts of wagyu beef!!!! Tasted so.... Japanese! ;P Cheap yet really tasty!

Most photos (unless otherwise indicated) are taken with Lumix GF2, pancake 14mm lens installed, in expressive mode. :) Really good for landscape shots. Look at the scope the camera can cover as compared to photos grabbed from others, specified as grabbed! :) I am starting to really love my new baby! I was actually complaining before, oops. :) It's pricey, no! It better be great and I better be satisfied with its performance! :)) I didn't use the flash --I rarely use cam's flash actually-- which explains why some shots are blurry. They're still nice! It captures better night photos than our dSLR Sony Alpha350. ;)

The main reason I created this recent blog is to remind myself of details that touched my life in any way --be that movies, restaurants, events, brands, products, and trips to different places. Chronicling the latter more so.

Isn't it that when something moved you, you remember the details vividly? I DO NOT. I am not like most of you. Mind you, latter point stated is not positive in any way, not kind of "embrace it, you're unique", "the more distinct, the better", "I am different; therefore, I am better than you, you just do not know yet", "deviant is the new cool". Let's just say something seems oddly wrong.

I actually don't get me. I blogged about Everybody's Fine. I blogged about so many more. But ask me when was Everybody's Fine released? Or, who are the actors in it? I'll tell you, "I am not sure *scratches head*, go see my post about it"... We were choosing our Friday midnight movie. We had to glance through parts of most movies in the deck because I can't remember the plot, but I knew I've already seen them --the titles rang a bell. We played some parts and, as expected, the cymbals clonked, I was reminded. I also re-watched Kickass on HBO, few days ago. I really can't remember most scenes. I was reminded as the film progressed. I feel like this blog serves as my memory capsule. My brain and my blog can be mutually exclusive. Pretty weird.

Aside from movies I can't seem to pin on my head, I also can't remember details of our trips. UNFORGIVABLE! UNBELIEVABLE! I, most of the time, play the dumb doll whenever we (family) talk about our sojourns. Let me talk about our Singapore trip, for instance. Funny, I can't remember where we stayed. Not only that I can't remember the hotel's name, I really can't also remember how it looked like!! I don't even remember myself staying at a hotel! Ma and Ben even tried to paint me a picture of how it looked like. They said it had a mini zoo inside, blah blah. I CAN'T REMEMBER ANYTHING ABOUT IT! Why is myself conspiring against itself!

Another example, I stated in my Lakbay Norte post that the last time I went to Ilocos was in 2004. I had to consult mom's travel diary on this. Yea, ma chronicles all our family travels. She writes everything up to the smallest detail! She lists all our purchases complete with description and price even. Thank God she did and still does that. I actually have my travel notebook too! And again, I created this blog to somehow put them on record. Chronicling them is a must! You may do this in various ways: by printing out photos and putting captions on them (ain't it lovely to look back flipping through our good ol' photo albums); make a scrapbook; and the list goes on.

Here's another one, me and my high school friends hang out often these past few months. And we would sometimes talk about those nene days. They sometimes have to remind me of the happenings. They would then funnily ask if I really was that person and other sarcasms.

I created this blog for myself. I created this blog to remind myself of my precious years. I didn't primarily create this blog to make you know what I know, to share to you what I know. I do too, but again, not primarily. As years pass by, there are things that I tend to forget. Frustratingly, even things that I know I treasure in my heart.

I am not complaining. I also do not feel like banging my head on the wall every time I can't seem to locate them anywhere in my head. This matter doesn't frustrate me. I am just saying (and sharing?), haha. I actually accepted that I can be pretty flummoxed at times. :) But please, spare me from those OA comments. Do not get exaggerated on me on this. I still know that Everybody's Fine is a remake of Stanno Tutti Bene; that they had Drew Barrymore. That I walked around Vigan and some parts of Ilocos in house clothes (shirt and boxers!!) and I highly disapproved in staying at a ~~creepy~~ room filled with religious statues back in 2004. That I had Irish ice cream in Clarke Quay where we searched for Pacita Abad's bridge.

As what I've learned from my Abnormal Psychology, if it doesn't hamper your daily functioning, it still is not abnormal. In my case, this forgetfulness syndrome doesn't cripple me and is far from ending it in suicide. I still remember a huge chunk, and people (friends and family) are there to remind me of things anyway! haha!

I am just 22 years old, FCOL! I wanna know though, am I the only one? ;P

Updating the store kept me busy these past few days. I'm one happy bean seeing how this whole project turned out! *deep wooh* I, literally, worked on it till wee hours! Seeing the albums, thus, is fulfilling... very fulfilling!

Schmug started just catering to friends' closet needs --ala-house bazaar! They come over and get to see and try on the items themselves. Quite a number of years later, we infiltrated the world wide web. We started with few designer bags. Then, clothes. Next, more clothes. After, pre-loved bags. Now, we are trying to add brand new items at very affordable price, still. We find joy in bringing you pretty yet cheap items sourced from trips here and there, going from alley to alley.

This time, we aimed to get a model. We contacted some friends (residing near Pampanga) in mind to model for us, for weeeeeks. Nothing really comes easy, no output is delivered in a poof, but with perseverance, vision, and faith, everything slowly fell into the right place. The whole collection wouldn't be as great as it is (of course, I am biased) if not for Lyn Battad. Thank you so much for going all the way to Pampanga! Thank you so much for making this vision materialize! Shouts I love yeeeew!! :))

ULTIMATE All-Star Weekend!!!: NBA All-Stars vs Smart Gilas Pilipinas

The wait finally arrived! The Ultimate All-Star Weekend has gone but the story that enveloped The Big Dome last Sunday is still fresh in my senses. The NBA-All Stars and the Smart Gilas sure exhibited a great game; they brought down Smart Araneta Colisuem!! It was just an exhibition game but I could tell that they took it somehow seriously. Kudos to that! The crowd applauded and stood for every good shot. Not a BB fan but I myself did too! It CANNOT be helped!!

Our home team, I must say, played really well. Shouts to JV Casio... and Chris Tiu! ;) The first basket was actually scored by our home team, wouldjabelieve! One proud moment --at least for me.

Friends lined up as early as 7am. I came 15 minutes before the 1PM ball time. Thanks to them, they secured a seat for me! ha ha!

In a (bulleted) nutshell, here are the scenes I personally will never ever forget that made up Sunday's Ultimate All-Star exhibition game:

Willie Revillame was shown in close-up on screen, a good number in the crowd BOO-ed. Oooops! Sorry, Willie, not your crowd! ;P
Sen. Antonio Trillanes III was also spotted on screen! It was somehow surprising and really unexpected! In my mind, "What? No. Wait, who was that they focused again". I kind of had second thoughts! Upon validation that it was him, I laughed. I actually found it funny that he was there! Parang comic relief. :)
While at a free throw, MVP Derrick Rose plastered a cute smile for his nervousness. He missed the two free throws, by the way! haha! He still showed his cute smile that indemnified the missed shots. ;P
CP3 did the razzle dazzle dribble. I am not sure what it is called but friends coined it "pektos". haha! No clue how he does it!!
Boxing champ, Manny Pacquiao, came during the 3rd Quarter of the game. He caused a stir! Everyone chanted "Manny, Manny" as he takes his seat. He almost stole the show! Another Pinoy Pride moment!
Kobe Bryant walked over to Manny Pacquiao while at a timeout. They chatted a bit. Everyone cheered!!! Two great athletes in one stadium!!! Iba ka, Manny! :)
The pound-for-pound champ, then, walked towards the NBA stars' bench. They exchanged man-hugs, shook hands.
Chris Paul jokingly challenged Pacman to a sparring match. Whole of Araneta laughed and whoo-ed. I can still paint a mind scene of Chris Paul's provoking moves.
After the game, the NBA stars asked for Pacman's autograph and had photo taken with him. Take note, not a group photo with the boxing champ!!! Some were spotted having a photo taken with him INDIVIDUALLY!
We, of course, had no idea what Kobe and Manny were chatting about. BUT, Kobe signaled "call me"! Naks, Manny!
Chris Paul was spotted having a photo taken with Pacman. The funny part, he shooed a passerby that got into their (picture perfect moment) way! :)))
At the end of it all, everyone whooped for both teams, for every single good basket! Everyone just wanted to witness and be part of an ultimate game and that's what both team put on. It was a great game!! <3 <3 We had to endure our hunger pangs but we definitely were filled with all the good moves!

After the game, we passed by Burgoo since we saw two friends dining (Ate Kat of Bragger Buyer and Kuya Berto, one of the many solid Laker and Kobe fans!!). Customers at a long table besides them were too interested that they really asked about the Metta World Peace shirt by FanBoy Clothing as shown in previous post! One guy said and, well, lobbied that he'll get (Kuya Berto's shirt order) the shirt for 500php. FanBoy Clothing, indeed, stands out in a fan-filled crowd. :)

We drove all the way to Ortigas, after, to eat at Uncle Moe's. I enjoyed their Beef Kabab with kabab dressing and salsa!! :) Their buttered rice was a joke --plain rice topped with butter slice! I enjoyed my meal, nevertheless.

***Flashes*** here, there and everywhere inside Smart Araneta Coliseum as the players of Smart team (NBA-All Stars) gets introduced.

Kobe Bryant in Manila 2011!!!

July 13, 2011, we followed Kobe Bryant in Manila! We met at The Fort as early as 11am for lunch. Then, went at Nike, The Fort for Kobe's short appearance. After that, at about 4pm, off we drove to Araneta Coliseum for the 5pm basketball clinic/exhibition game with the Smart Gilas and the UAAP All-Stars.

I am not a basketball fan... but I do love Michael Jordan (who doesn't!!?!) and was a fan of the then-Chicago Bulls! <3 I tagged along because they had a spare ticket and I got loads of free time, haha! I told myself, "owkaaay, I'll just be the camera man, fan friends."

I must say though, I had fun being in the midst of fans. We were standing behind the barricades at The Fort. Couple of fans behind us shouted funny (for some irritating) soulful yells. Fans screamed "KOOOBEEEE" at the top of their lungs and even shouted in frustration to make Kobe come near us. For split second, they were close to meeting the aim. We thought he was coming near us... He was really walking towards us!!!, BUT security was D tight. They altered his path. They didn't want Kobe to go anywhere near the grass!! JK.. In short, they failed! Haha! I was genuinely laughing the entire time! I felt their joyful frustration! :)))

I felt the I N T E N S I T Y all the more at The Big Dome! So many people came together in Araneta Coliseum for the love of Kobe!! I really felt happy for all the fans who came --from children as young as 5 years old to teenagers to yuppies to adults; from male fans to female fans, geared up in their Nikes and Kobe jerseys/shirts/attire, tinodo na ang pagiging fan, haha, why not! Everyone was wearing their best giddy smiles that topped it all off!

I went there as a spectator but I ended up enjoying the entire Kobe day! I actually am looking forward to July 24! :)

The Fort event was hosted by Aaron Atayde and JINNO RUFINO, ahhhhh!!!

I ended up ~~musing~~ glaring at Jinno Rufino at The Fort!! He shook my hand even!! waaa! Thanks to Nikko a.k.a Tyler of Magic 89.9 (one of the most humble, light-spirited people I know) for introducing us! haha!

After the interview with Kobe, players of the Smart Gilas Pilipinas and players of the UAAP All-Stars were introduced.

Everyone was shocked and pumped up at the same time with the BIG Mamba twist!!! Kobe Bryant asked for an 8 minute extension! He played with Filipino players and teamed up with the UAAP All-Stars!! The energy inside Araneta became more INSANE!!!

According also to Bianca Gonzales, this was the ONLY time he insisted to play in an exhibition game! Lucky us we were there! :))
It was a GREAT 8-minute unexpected, unplanned game! Everyone was standing whenever the ball was at Kobe's hands! Whole Araneta chanting that the ball be passed to Kobe! The energy of the crowd was WILD!!

Even at the start of the UAAP All-Stars-Smart Gilas game, some were requesting, "Kobe, Kobe"... It's a Kobe event after all.. Who wouldn't want to see The Black Mamba play instead! :)) All came for Kobe!!!

Kobe was a very, very giving player. He could've taken those two to four easy baskets and the rest (just as the crowd requested) but he gave the UAAP players the chance. He did an insane DUNK, though!! :))

I enjoyed every minute of the game! The energy of the crowd was contagious! Collective behavior??! ha ha!

I know this is prohibited, haha! But ma was not with me. Ben and dad were at the men's section...

I had to show how it looks to fish comments.... BUT, I myself was having second thoughts, hmmm.

Purchased the top, though.

Ma approved! We were supposed to get it at Greenbelt but the one I tried on had the wrong belt (way too long for the trousers' size) and was ironed with sharp crease, meh! I know that's formal and they say it's the correct way to iron trousers... I just don't like mine na ganon! ;P
