Specs Direct Opticians is a local optician in High Barnet, UK. We have been providing quality eye care services and the latest eyewear fashion for the last 20 years.

It is hard to believe that Specs Direct Opticians first opened its doors on March the 1^st 2003! Looking back, I remember how nervous I was but with the support of our patients, we have gone from strength to strength.

When we first opened our doors we were in the old Lloyds Bank building.

My wife Natia took control and designed the practice and turned it into a great space for looking after our patients vision and displaying the newest and best eyewear collections.

We were very happy but by 2014 it was time for a change and we moved into our present premises. It was the old Mothercare building. By this time my daughter Thekli was born. I would visit Mothercare and Early Learning Centre for the latest toys. Little did I envisage that this would become the future Specs Direct Opticians. The old building was redesigned to its present high tech look.

Over the years, we have helped many patients with a wide range of eye conditions, from cataracts to glaucoma and more. During eye exams, we take a close look at the retina, which is a reflection of the brain and body. I am pleased to say that the majority of our patients are healthy, which is a testament to the importance of regular eye exams.

A few eye patients and their conditions do stand out. The 80 year old patient who had a cataract operation and the results were so good his vision was perfect for the first time in many years. Patients with wet macula degeneration meant an emergency trip to Moorfieds Eye Hospital where injections can stop the bleeding at the back of the eye and maintain vision. Another patient had double vision but on his first visit, with the help of prisms, we were able to remove the double vision for the first time in many years.

In recent times, we have also realised that we are not just in the eyecare business, but also in the fashion industry. As we know, glasses are not just for seeing better but are also a fashion statement. Our practice has always been at the forefront of eyewear fashion. We were one of the first practices to view the latest collections from Tom Ford, Prada, Tiffany & Co and many other top designer houses with their heritage and experience.

Our passion for eyewear has led us to discover many independent eyewear designers from around the world. We are proud to offer collections from Face a Face from France, LA Eyeworks from Los Angeles, Ronit Furst from Israel, and Lindberg from Denmark. We are always on the lookout for unique and exciting eyewear that reflects the individuality of our patients.

Wearing stylish glasses with great lenses allows our clients to see and look good in glasses. Sometimes they have been looking for the right glasses for a long time, other times we use the latest lenses to overcome difficult prescriptions.

My daughter, Thekli, is now 16 years old and I took her to her first trade show. She helped me choose the latest models from Tom Ford.

We understand that finding the right pair of glasses is about more than just vision correction; it is also about making our patients look and feel good in glasses. We love working with our patients to find the perfect pair of glasses that reflect their personality and style.
