If you were looking for the pics for this month’s VR project, you’ve come to the right place. We will be choosing a certain car that we want to see modified. The images for the monthly VR project will be in digital format.

If you want to get your car into this new section, then YOU are the one who will have to be doing some work.  We need a minimum of six photos of your car showing off the usual angles (like the front, back, left, right, engine, ICE or interior).  No dodgy looking pics, no shitty cell pics, make sure the lighting is ok and that the car is framed properly.  Now this isn’t your only task.  You HAVE to give us a decent description of your car, so we want around 300 words in a hopefully legible language.  We would like it to be in real English, NO Mixit it or SMS speak, f we gt tht sht  wel dlt ur mal n blk ur adrs! This is to save ourselves from being subjected to it again.  I’m not saying we need an essay in the Queen’s English, but something making some sort of sense will have a preference.

Send your pics and write up to readersrides@speedandsound.co.za and then sit back and relax.  We already have a healthy amount of submissions, so you will be placed in the queue and you’ll have to wait to see it in print.  If you have good pics with a decent write up – you’ll jump the queue of course, we like it when stuff is done right.

Anyway, a new year brings with it new things. New cars, new events and new, fresh and exciting content in the Speed and Sound Magazine. We’re looking at taking a fresh approach while still bringing you top notch content to drool over and inspire you.

We’d also appreciate your feedback. Drop us a mail at any one of the editor’s mail addresses and we’ll look into it. We can’t promise a response but we can promise you that we will read it.

Issue 125 – On sale 23 January

On the back of the Old-School Issue, we welcome in the New Year with some tasty Millennium machines, fresh with flavour, style and bucket loads of speed. There’s some nice variety in this latest installment and while it’s impossible to please everyone all the time, we’re pretty sure almost everyone will find something they like in this issue of Speed and Sound.

Our cover machine is low and brash Volkswagen Golf V GTI that tears up the rule book and writes its own rules. This feature wasn’t an easy one to procure but in the end we managed to get it. It’s also a special dedication to a friend of the owner, have a read over it to see the story.

A few months ago we held a competition of Facebook to find a cover model. She’s gracing the pages of 125 and doing it with the Innovation Rotary Rustler that recently ran a blistering 8.371 over the quarter mile. We also look at a powerful offering from the guys at RACE! Who have transformed a Mercedes Banz CLK AMG Black Series into a street fighter of note.

Mark Jones tested a unique creation from the guys at Steve’s Auto Clinic, in what is bound to be the first of many – an insane Twin Turbo Nissan 370Z. The figures are impressive.

There’s event coverage from the VW Club and Volvo Club’s track days as well as a Show and Shine event from Showtime Fanatics. We also bring you the action from the final round of the SupaDrift Series for 2011.

We look at a surprising feature car; relatively stock on the outside, but crammed full of goodness on the inside. The same goes for the Joel Kopping’s column, a definite winner this month with valuable information for all bass heads.

The father and son team of Steve and Jeff who roll in a pair of Opel Corsa utilities with some serious work on the inside, also feature this month and Neeresh wraps up the bang bus build.

Issue 124 – Old School Cool

It’s time to kick back and relive the years gone by with the Old School Edition. We take a look at a few cars, older than many of our readers that can still mix it up with the best that the new millennium has to offer.

We look at a SA favourite, the Skyline GTX. This one has a little more bite though, thanks to it’s turbocharged L28 motor. This mean green machine is definitely the quickest GTX in SA.

We look at another classic with more punch than the manufacturer ever intended. Clive’s Toyota Corolla E7 is powered by a Supra 2JZ-GTE and runs silly times on the 1km run.

Slowing down we take a look at a rat-style Mk1 Golf with tones of personality and character. We invade the Cape and dig out a stunning Datsun SSS and a four-door Capella. While we were there, a twin turbo Ford Sierra XR8 caught our eye – this one has to be seen to be believed.

We chat to Mick van Rensburg and revisit the glory days of drag racing in SA.

For the audiophiles there’s a home-grown Mk1 Golf with an interesting install and a classic, but super neat VW Splitty with a powerful sound system bar none.

Easily the oldest car in our lineup has to be the Chev Apache truck, filled to the brim with only the best that money can buy.

And these are just the features! There’s the usual technicals, events and interest articles to keep you busy this festive season!
