As moms, we spend so much time taking care of everybody else that we sometimes forget how important it is to still feel like our OLD self too. Oh gosh I miss her!

My birthday is coming up this month and of course that means I’ve already started searching for a new hairstyle. My thoughts: Bob, braids, long middle part, lob or curls. Honestly, changing my hair has always been one of those things that helps me feel refreshed without completely overhauling my life. It sounds small, but when you’re in the thick of motherhood, even something as simple as a new hairstyle and fresh brows can make you feel put together again. Even if it’s for two weeks haha!

The biggest challenge now is finding styles that actually work for my lifestyle. I need something cute, easy to maintain, and realistic for school runs, errands, content creation, and the million other things I fit into one day. I don’t have time to spend hours styling my hair every morning anymore. Hense why I’ve been doing braids but I need more.

I haven’t been updating as much as I use to on here. BUTTTT, I am now my second baby and she is over 14 months. There’s been a lot of life changes some good and some bad. But overall, I’m working on it. I’m just writing this post because I know that there’s someone out there like me right now... a lot of my mom friends are back at work.

WHY?

Because the 12 months is up.

I know that there’s an option for 18 but with the lesser pay, but financially... it's a no. Anyways, I’m going give you some tips on what I do... so I don’t go insane while trying to figure out my next steps up at life.

Take the baby outside when possible.

A change of space, can do wonders for my mood. I try to take the baby and my self out, even if it’s just a short trip to the dollar store. It just makes us feel like we had a purpose...even if it;s JUST for the day.

Ask for help when needed.

I’ve learned to be honest about when I’m struggling. I’m lucky that at least once a week I have dedicated help for at least eight hours to get some tasks done. But sometimes I need some help whether it be picking up my daughter from school. Reaching out to my partner, or family for support—has made a huge difference in managing my mental health. Because I can’t do it all.

Be kind to myself.

This one will always be the hardest to me. Especially because I’m raising little girls. Reminding myself that I’m doing the best I can. It’s okay to have days where I’m not at my best. I don’t have to be the perfect mom every day.

Parenting two kids while trying to manage the emotional toll of the season can be overwhelming. I swear some days, it feels like I'm just barely keeping it all together.

The challenge is real, but baby we WILL get through this!

Here’s how I’m going to navigate this Holiday season.

When you’re a mom, it’s easy to push your own needs to the back burner. Between the diaper changes, school before and after runs, meal prep, and bedtime routines, it can feel like there’s no time to care for yourself. Especially when your spouse works a lot. Literally for a few months my mind was in a real fog.

Schedule ME TIME

The best way to explain it is create moments of light! First thing for me- Schedule your self care on days that you have help. Whether it be a 1 hr break or a full- day. Do it! The high of getting it done will last a few days.

Get over the GUILT

One of the hardest parts of parenting is the guilt. Sometimes I want to do EVERYTHING but I can’t whether it be financially or just physically. But here’s what I’ve come to realize: I am doing enough, even on the days when I feel like I’m not. My kids don’t need me to be perfect or pick the perfect event/opportunity; they need me to show up—sometimes just in the best way I can manage for that day. And when I do show up, even if it's just for a walk to the park or a dance party, it’s enough.

Get OTHERS involved

This one might be hard, but if you have a bit of a village, try to get your child to connect with them on days when you’re mentally need a break. Whenever Grandma is available, I’ll bring the oldest one over and get them to bake holiday treats. Or schedule a play date with the cousins so that they can be distracted while I mentally replenished myself.

I can hardly believe it.

As a mum-to-be, you are probably doing everything you can to ensure that you and your little one are healthy and happy.

One of the most annoying thing while being pregnant is sticking to a diet. While there are many foods that can help you stay healthy during pregnancy, there are also some foods that you should avoid. Here's a quick rundown of the foods to steer clear of.

1. Raw or undercooked meats: These can be a source of harmful bacteria such as E. coli and Salmonella.

2. Fish with high mercury levels: Certain fish like swordfish, shark, and king mackerel have high mercury levels, which can be toxic to your baby.

This one is for my self-employed girlies/entrepreneurs.

Sooo 6 months have got gone by and I'm back to work.

I'm happy for money but sad I didn't have 18 months were it was dedicated solely to baby girl.

I'm writing this anyone who might be or could be in my position. If you're returning to work, it's important to discuss certain boundaries with your clients. This is hard BUT needed. This could include establishing clear communication about your schedule, times when they can reach out to you and outlining your expectations for accommodations, such as pumping breaks or flexible hours (if you are in office).

Lastly, don’t forget! Remember to prioritize self-care. I'm currently failing at this. First time around man… this was ALSO hard. Setting boundaries is not only about protecting your time and energy, but also about recognizing your own needs. Take time for yourself, whether it's through friendships, exercise, relaxation, or social activities. I know everyone can't do this because they don't have help… but try. Setting boundaries can be difficult, but it's essential for establishing a healthy environment for you and your new baby. Good Luck mamas!

5 years ago, I stepped into the world of Mommy blogging in Canada... It's been fun. I've had the opportunity to have some cool experiences and bring my whole family along.

Some mommy blogging tips!

First and foremost, it's important to have a clear understanding of your audience. Identify your niche and your target audience. For example: Black moms in Canada or breast feeding moms in USA.

Next, focus on building relationships. Networking/connecting is essential. Plus it can all be done online(if you're shy). Go to mommy events, connect with other bloggers/content creators/influencers, and engage with PR/brands through social media. YUP! Hop in those DMs.

It's about building long-term partnerships/relationships. Support their content and they will support you. Always know your stats. Such as audience demographics, engagement rates, and any previous collaborations you may have had with other brands. For example, my reach is high in USA and CANADA but I know I can reach readers in UK and India. Cool right!

Last but not least, always follow up/re-connect. It's important to remember that support may not happen overnight, so be persistent but not pushy. Also know that no's will come. It sucks but apart of life.

Baby #2 is on her way! Pregnancy can be an amazing but also a challenging time. No one reminded me that doing all this with a child is WORK!! Also with so many physical and emotional changes happening, it's easy to feel overwhelmed or negative at times.

Here are some tips to help you stay positive during your pregnancy. *I'm using them too:

1. Surround Yourself with Support:

Lean on your partner, friends, and family for encouragement and support. Connect with other moms-to-be, and seek out positive influences that lift your mood.

2. Take Care of Yourself:

Eat healthy, get enough sleep, and try to get around regularly. Taking care of your body can help improve your mental health. I hate saying it... but it's true. Also don't forget your water!!!

3. Focus on the Good:

It's important to acknowledge and validate your emotions, but try to focus on the positive aspects of your pregnancy. Write down and reflect on what you're excited about and grateful for.

4. Practice Mindfulness:

Being present in the moment can help reduce stress and anxiety. Girl so many random situations happen daily. Or tests that don't go as planned- or negative thoughts creep in! Try you're best not to freak out. Just because something happened to a friend DOESN'T mean it will happen to you.

5. Treat Yourself:

Take some time to pamper yourself every now and then. This can be as simple as taking a relaxing bath, getting a prenatal massage, or a cute salon trip! Something i did this week.
