Colourpop Hello Kitty - Hello Pretty Kit

I’m having a bit of an obsession with eye shadows lately. My sister bought Colourpop’s Hello Kitty - Hello Pretty Kit specifically for Ribbon (the blue-red ultra matte lip), and graciously gave me the super shock shadows, blush, & highlighter. I was thinking of doing a giveaway with these… but they’re just too pretty to give away! I selfishly kept them and couldn’t be happier because they’re beautiful! The Hello Pretty Kit comes with 2 lip products, 3 super shock shadows, 1 blush, and 1 highlighter. My sister has the lip products, so they’ll be omitted from this post.

The three Super Shock Shadows that were included in this kit were Juicy Apple (sheer gold), Sticker Sheet (cool-toned taupe), & Bento Box (gunmetal).

Juicy Apple is true to its description. It’s very sheer.. almost to the point that I wish it was more opaque. I can definitely layer it and get the look I want, but with using my fingertip and a brush to apply it, it seems like a lot of work. However, with the sheer opacity, this might look amazing over other colours… so this has a love/hate relationship with me at the moment.

Sticker Sheet is a light shadow, but I found it to be very buildable. I love the fact that the colour is more cool-toned as it goes great with other colours. It sets a nice base, and then can build nicely into my crease.

I used Bento Box with a light hand because I wasn’t sure how it would apply. It is probably the most opaque shade in the three Super Shock Shadows. However, you can use it very light and build the colour as you need it. I also liked the shimmer in it – it wasn’t over powering at all.

The blush and highlighter that were included in this kit are Fun with Friends (mid-tone warm pink blush) & Yummy Cookies (light peach highlighter). They have such a unique texture; they’re powders but have a cream-like texture. I was intrigued by this at first, but found them hard to apply with a brush and much easier to just use my finger (especially for the highlighter).

Fun with Friends is a gorgeous pink blush. I was afraid it was going to be too much of a pop of colour, but since the texture is almost cream-like, it applied nicely. It has a bit of a shimmer, which doesn’t go unnoticed. I really liked it! Yummy Cookies was almost made perfectly to go with this blush. The colours compliment eachother so nicely.

My Favourite Moisturizers for Winter

With the weather here in Toronto constantly changing; cold to super cold.. back to it feeling like spring, and then right back to coldness.. It's just going to get super cold again... sigh Mother Nature needs to get her act together!

During the winter, my skin gets really dry - especially on my face and hands. This year, my go-to products are First Aid Beauty's Ultra Repair Face Moisturizer, Softlips Cube in Fresh Mint, & Bath & Body Work's Sweet Pea Body Butter.

First Aid Beauty's Ultra Repair Face Moisturizer is my go to face moisturizer for morning and night. It has a gel consistency and is very lightweight. It absorbs very quickly and is perfect to wear under makeup. I found it to combat my dry skin very well in the winter. I bought mine from Sephora, only because they don't ship to Canada through their website.

I actually got my Softlips Cube from ChickAdvisor a couple of months ago for free (in exchange for my honest review). I really like how it packs quite a bunch of flavour in addition to the vitamins and sunscreen that's added in it. I brought this little cub with me on vacation to Mexico to help hydrate my lips from being out in the sun all day!

For my body, I recently picked up Bath and Body Works Sweet Pea Body Butter. This has been one of my favourite scents for a while now.. I get their car scent in the same scent too. This body butter has some a great texture (it's almost like a whipped cream lol). A lot of this goes a looong way, so I think this will last me for a while!

What are your favourite moisturizers? I'll be needing a new face moisturizer for the summer, especially one with SPF in it.

Casetify Review - Customized iPhone 7 Case

Wow the Christmas break seems like it was FOREVER ago.. *tear*

Me and my friends decided to do Kris Kringle, which saved us from all buying each one of us a gift. If you're not sure what Kris Kringle is, it's when you get a group together and write down everyone's names and put it in a bowl. One by one everyone picks a name and that's who they buy for! No one knows who got them until the day you exchange gifts.

My Kris Kringle got me a new customized phone case with my Beyond the Nail logo on it! How amazing is that? I had designed one about 3-4 years ago for my old phone and it's completely faded now. I even tried to make my own phone case when I got my new phone but I didn't want to spend even more money then I already did.

The phone case is from Casetify. They have a huge variety of phone cases (for different phones), apple watch bands, iPad and macbook covers and more. If you can't find anything you like, they even do custom designs where you can design it yourself! The phone case I got is made of a high quality frosted semi-transparent plastic and is really durable. It doesn't feel bulky at all, which I was afraid of since it's a harder plastic. The buttons are easy to access and press, and the sound quality isn't affected at all.

Since this was a gift, I'm not sure how much it exactly was.. but after looking around their website, I think it's around $40 USD.

BH Cosmetics Review

Every couple of months I go through a phase where I want to master all these makeup looks. I try out a couple and then I fall off that bandwagon.. until some months pass by and then I want to do it all over again. It's a costly cycle let me tell you.. Anyways, as I was scrolling on instagram over the Christmas holidays, I saw so many pictures of beautiful eye makeup that I just fell in love. I ended up searching for new makeup brands because I wanted to try something new. I stumbled upon BH Cosmetics, & now $40 later, here I am with some new goodies to share!

While searching BH Cosmetic’s website, I found three eye shadow palettes that I had to add to my makeup collection. I picked their Modern Mattes ($10 USD), Foil Eyes ($12 USD) & Essential Eyes ($12 USD) Eyeshadow Palettes. I wanted a mix of matte and sparkly shadows and I think I achieved that perfectly with all three of these palettes. The Modern Mattes shadows are vibrant colours that have no shimmer or sparkle.. perfect for when you don't want to draw too much attention. The Foil Eyes Palette is packed with metallic shadows that are great for adding a punch to your look. The Essential Eyes palette is a great mix of both matte and shimmer shadows and has other shades that the other two palettes don't have. I tried the Essential Eyes palette first and was surprised how little product goes a long way. They’re easy to blend and are very buildable so you can get away with a light or dark colour.

I also picked up their Eye Essential 7 Piece Brush Set ($9.50 USD). I figured I’d try their brushes with their own products to see how they work together. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of these brushes. I usually use a sponge applicator (years of using them as a teen have made me actually like using these), so it's a nice transition to use a brush - and many at a time! I'm sure many of you are appalled by that.. but as long as my end result looks great, does it really matter how it was applied? My favourite brush from the set is the blending brush (the big black fluffier one). I was expecting it to be really loose but it's really sturdy and great at blending!

Pastel Glitter Gradient

I did this manicure months ago but I wasn't exactly sure if I liked it or not. I wish the white stamping design came out more opaque.. maybe I would like it a lot more then.

I started with a base of one coat of Beyond the Nail - Bright White. I sponged over it with a gradient using Beyond the Nail's - Spring Blue Creme, Lilac Creme, & Spring Pink Creme. When it was dry, I painted one coat of Beyond the Nail - Scattered Holographic Topcoat over it. I stamped over every nail using Beyond the Nail - Bright White ... since I did this month's ago, I forget the stamping plate I used :( I finished this mani off with one coat of PRO-FX - Quick Dry Topcoat.

Neon & Holographic Mermaid Nails

I love neon polishes all year round.. it makes even the cold days seem a bit warmer (not really, but it brightens up my day!).

I started by painting my index finger with two coats of Beyond the Nail - Tropical Grove. On my middle finger, I painted one coat and sponged on another coat of Beyond the Nail - Countdown. On my pinky finger I painted on two coats of Beyond the Nail - Sunset Islands. On my ring finger I sponged on a gradient using Tropical Grove & Sunset Island. When it was dry I stuck on a Mermaid Nail Decal overtop. I topped everything off with one coat of PRO-FX - Quick Dry Topcoat and placed on some glitter from Countdown on my index and pinky fingers.

Purple Overload

Ever have something that you forget about, and once you find it, you're obsessed all over again?? That's how I feel with these purple nail polishes! I forgot all about my purple creme polish and now I want to wear it all the time!

I started by painting my index and pinky fingers with two coats of Beyond the Nail - Violet Creme. I painted one coat then sponged another coat of Beyond the Nail - Purple Microglitter onto my ring finger. On my middle finger I painted one thick coat of Beyond the Nail - Lilac Creme. When it was dry, I placed on some Line Nail Guides across the nail and painted over it with the Violet Creme polish. I immediately peeled away the nail guides and left it to dry for a while. I placed some more Line Nail Guides on it in the shape of a "V" and painted in the middle with the Purple Microglitter. I peeled away those nail guides immediately and left it to dry before painting each nail with PRO-FX - Quick Dry Topcoat.

Pastel Mermaid Scales

Nail guides make nail art so easy and fun! I started by painting every nail with one thick coat of Beyond the Nail - Bright White followed by PRO-FX - Quick Dry Topcoat when it had dried. I placed on the Mermaid Scale Nail Guides and sponged on a gradient of Beyond the Nail's Cosmopolitan, Spring Blue Creme, & Spring Purple Creme. I peeled away the nail guides right away and topped everything off with another layer of topcoat. I placed on some blue rhinestones to the top of each nail while the polish was still wet.

Mint Sparkle Nails

I'm always in need for a sparkly manicure :) For my nails, I painted two coats of Beyond the Nail - Teal Creme on my index and pinky fingers. When it was dry, I placed on a Triangle Nail Decal on top. I painted one coat and sponged on another coat of Beyond the Nail - Mint Microglitter onto my middle finger. On my ring finger, I painted one coat of Beyond the Nail - Bright White. When it was dry, I placed on some Line Nail Guides across the nail and sponged on a coat of Mint Microglitter. I immediately peeled away the nail guides and topped off each nail with PRO-FX - Quick Dry Topcoat.

Happy New Year everyone! Welcome 2017 :)

I wanted to go for some more glitter for the new year, so I used one of our new polishes for New Years! I started by painting my nails (except my ring finger) with two coats of Beyond the Nail - Shadow. I then used Beyond the Nail - Noisemaker to do a glitter gradient on each of those nail tips. On my ring finger, I painted on one coat of Beyond the Nail - Noisemaker and then sponged on another layer to get ALL the glitter!

I started by painting all my nails with one coat of Beyond the Nail - Deep Black. When it was dry, I did a glitter gradient from the top of each nail using Beyond the Nail - Countdown. I finished it off with one coat of PRO-FX - Quick Dry Topcoat and that's it! Super simple :)

Sole Patches Review

How many of you love going out, but the thought of wearing heels all night makes you second guess that decision? That's basically me EVERY time. I always need to carry a back up pair of flats for when my feet can no longer handle the pain.

Luckily for me, I've been given the opportunity to try these shoe/feet stickers from Sole Patches that help lessen the pain. They stick onto the inside of your shoes or the soles of your feet and provide a comfy platform. They're made of a a special material called PORON® that's shock-absorbing, antimicrobial, anti-odor, and has moisture-repelling properties.

After wearing them a couple of times, I can definitely tell a difference in wearing these (even in boots!). They help mostly when walking around, but not so much when standing in one spot. That's probably because of the way my foot is arched, not because of the sole patch not working. I would definitely recommend these, and I even lent out a pair to a friend :)

Flakie Candy Canes

I started by painting my nails with two coats of Beyond the Nail - Frosty. On my ring finger, I painted on one coat (followed up by sponging another layer) of Beyond the Nail - Fiddlesticks. I placed on some Line Nail Guides diagonally across my other nails and sponged over it when Fiddlesticks. I immediately peeled away the nail guides and left it to dry. I placed on some Snowflake Nail Decals onto my ring finger and topped each nail off with one coat of PRO-FX - Quick Dry Topcoat.

Holly and Chevrons for Christmas

Snowflake Nails

Reindeer Nails

Little reindeer nails! I am in no way great at free handing, so my reindeer kind of looks like Diglett from Pokemon hahaha.

I started by painting my index and pinky fingers with two coats of Beyond the Nail - Hot Cocoa. When it was dry, I placed on some Wavy Squiggle Nail Guides diagonally across the nails and painted over it with Beyond the Nail - Cabin in the Woods. I immediately peeled away the nail guides and was left with a cute squiggle design. I painted my ring finger with three thin coats of Beyond the Nail - Holy Grail. On my middle finger, I painted it with two thin coats of Beyond the Nail - Bright White. I painted the reindeer head with Hot Cocoa and used Beyond the Nail's Rouge & Deep Black for the eyes and nose. I painted over every nail with PRO-FX - Quick Dry Topcoat, and added some gold caviar beads to the reindeer for antlers. Unfortunately, the wet topcoat made the caviar beads bleed.. weird!

COVERGIRL Outlast All Day Matte Finishing Powder and Concealer Review

A girl can never have enough makeup, especially concealer and powders! I always have several different shades of foundation, concealers, and powders for when the seasons change and I gain or loose a tan haha. BzzAgent recently sent me COVERGIRL's Outlast All-Day Matte Finishing Powder & Soft Touch Concealer in the Light to Medium 830 shade. It was a bit too dark for me when I received it, but I went away to Mexico 2 weeks ago and now it matches my skin perfectly! If only I was this shade all year round...

COVERGIRL's Outlast All-Day Matte Finishing Powder is lightweight and designed to blend into your skin naturally and seamlessly while absorbing excess oils. Their Soft Touch Concealer erases the appearance of dark circles and keeps your skin looking flawless all day.

I found the Soft Touch Concealer to have a good consistency, but it didn't blend as nicely as I thought it would into my skin. The application was okay, but I had to use my BeautyBlender to actually smooth it onto my skin because the applicator just seemed to push it around, rather than soak into my skin. I was almost left with a streaky application with this product.

The Matte Finishing Powder applied heavily for me, even though it claims to be lightweight. I like my powders to actually hide imperfections, so I don't mind that it applies heavy. I just wished it would have been true to it's claims. It also did take away shine, so I was pleasantly surprised how well this worked for me since I haven't had the best luck with COVERGIRL products. (I always find them to be problematic).

I would recommend COVERGIRL's Outlast All-Day Matte Finishing Powder because I liked the coverage, but I would choose another concealer over their Soft Touch Concealer to get a better and flawless application.

Christmas Tree Nails

Christmas is in 9 days, can you believe it?? Time is definitely flying by... I have to do more Christmas mani's, they're probably my second favourite themed nails to do (after Halloween!).

I started by painting my index and pinky nails with one coat of Beyond the Nail - Wreath, then sponged on a layer to get some good glitter, and then painted another thin coat on top. On my ring finger, I painted three thin coats of Beyond the Nail - Holy Grail. On my middle finger, I painted it with a thick coat of Beyond the Nail - Bright White. When it was dry, I place down some Line Nail Guides in a 'V', and then across the "tree". I sponged & painted on one coat of Wreath, then immediately peeled away the Line Nail Guides to get some crisp lines! I stuck on a yellow nail decal (leftover from a Star Nail Shield). I finished everything off with one coat of CND - Creative Play Topcoat.

Santa Nails

Oh boy, Christmas is soon approaching! I haven't done nail art in a while because I've been so busy at work and getting ready to go on vacation (which you can read about in my last post!).I also broke 3 nails while away, so fake nails to the rescue :(

I started this look by painting my index and pinky fingers with three coats of Beyond the Nail - Candy Cane Crush. On my middle finger, I painted one coat of Beyond the Nail - Biscotti. What that dried, I got a dotting tool and painted the top part of my nail (for a hat) with Beyond the Nail - Rudolph, and then dotted on Beyond the Nail - Bright White for Santa's hair/beard. I used Beyond the Nail - Deep Black & Rouge for the eyes and nose. On my ring finger, I painted the base with two thin coats of Beyond the Nail - Bright White. I placed down some Line Nail Guides down the middle and the bottom of my nail, and painted the open areas with Beyond the Nail - Rudolph. I peeled away the nail guides and left it to dry. With a striping brush, I painted on a thick "belt" using Beyond the Nail - Deep Black, and added a gold clasp for the belt using Beyond the Nail - Holographic Gold Microglitter. I finished everything off with one coat of CND - Creative Play Topcoat.

[Travel] Mexico 2016

I just spent the last week in Mexico for one of my friend's weddings. I've been to Cuba & Jamaica, but Mexico has definitely been my favourite place so far! The beach, pools, food/drinks, and activities were all amazing!

I spent a whole week at the Luxury Bahia Principe Akumal in Cancun, Mexico. I had the all-inclusive package, which included (but not limited to) all meals, unlimited alcohol, free wifi, use of beach chairs and water activities, 24hr snack bar, and use of their other hotels facilities in the area. The hotel & surrounding hotels were all accessible through a tram system which came around every 10-15 minutes.

The beach that was steps away from our resort was beautiful! White sand, clear water.. what could be better? There were even some fish in the water that would swim by, and even got closer if you happened to bring bread with you to feed them :P

I pretty much stuck with drinking Strawberry Margarita's the whole trip.. anything that's pretty and comes in slushy form is my type of drink :)

For my friend's wedding, I bought this gorgeous coral dress from Lulu's (Mythical Kind of Love Dress). It was the perfect style and colour for a destination wedding! The top was a bit large, but I'm sure after a little fixing, I could get it to sit properly.

One day during the week, a bunch of us went to Playa del Carmen for some shopping! I ended up finding a cute pair of earrings for my mom, and my friends picked up some clothes from stores that aren't in Canada. Some friends and I even stopped off at Senor Frogs to grab a quick bite. The tacos and guacamole in Cancun are to DIE for. I did not have a single taco or guacamole and chips that I didn't like!

On another day, we did an excursion with Alltournative where we visited the archaeological site of Ek’Balam - an ancient Maya city where we got to climb on some mayan ruins! They were soo high up and the steps were very steep, so you had to walk down side ways taking it one step at a time.

After visiting the Mayan Ruins, we ventured off to a Cenote - which is a natural sinkhole filled with freshwater. We all had the options of either walking down the stairs to get to the bottom of the cenote, or we could rappel down. I got brave and rappelled down with one of my friends. It was scary at first since we were so high up, but after 30 seconds I was fine and laughing at how fun it was. The water was freezing!

Overall, my trip was pretty great! I spent it with my close group of friends and we all got to get away for a week and relax! There were moments of stress, but that's normal when there's a wedding involved. The beach is definitely somewhere I'm still daydreaming of...

I've never actually thought about the products used to make tampons and pads until I learned more about Veeda and the products they sell. Veeda produces regular/super/super plus tampons (in both applicator and applicator-free style), wipes, liners, and pads that are all hypoallergenic, toxin-free, and 100% natural cotton. They're also wallet friendly ;)

I was sent samples of their Cotton Liners, Cotton Tampons, and Cotton Ultra-Thin Day Pads. After using each product, I would definitely recommend them; they're great quality and absorb just as well as mainstream brands. I even prefer the applicator of Veeda's Cotton Tampons over other brands. Everything was packaged so nicely, and looked like high quality material.

Veeda is available in both the USA and Canada, and are sold online and in select retailers. I would definitely recommend these products since they're such great quality, and I know what exactly I am putting in/near my body.

SoundPEATS Wireless Bluetooth Q15 Earbuds Review

In my every day life (outside of painting my nails haha), I listen to music and watch movies on my phone. I am really sensitive to sound so I need to listen to music to block out sounds at work and at the gym. I'm always looking for that perfect pair of earbuds that will do the trick on blocking out ALL sound. I'm pretty happy to say that the SoundPEATS Wireless Bluetooth Q15 Earbuds are easily a new accessory in my purse. It also just so happens that I have the new iPhone 7, which doesn't have a headphone jack - so pairing these up to it is a DREAM (& saves me from having to spend over $100 on wireless earbuds from Apple).

These earbuds come in the cutest packaging - a lightweight black case that fits the wireless earbuds, charger, and different sized earbuds and sport tips. I really appreciated having this come with the earbuds because I just throw things in my purse and end up digging around trying to find everything.

They paired up to my phone in a breeze! I just had to find it on my list of bluetooth devices and that was it! I used these right away at the gym, and it was such a nice relief to not have to worry about wires getting in my way.

LensCircle - Grey Nudy Circle Lens Review

I always love trying new products that allow me to change up my look in an instant. Contacts are probably the quickest and easiest way to do that. I received these Grey Nudy Circle Lens from LensCircle.com a couple of weeks ago to share with you and give my review on them, but I got sick and was waiting to get better so I could make good use of these. They specialize in circle lenses which make your eyes look bigger!

I’m not used to wearing contacts on a daily basis, so I did have some trouble trying to get these contacts in. I’m not sure if I have a problem with the size or shape of my eyeballs (is that even a thing??), because I’m noticing that every time I’ve used contacts, my eyes hurt so much. I feel like they’re scratching my lower waterline and my eyes feel like they’re constantly burning. After struggling to get these in (over 20 minutes…), I didn’t see much of a difference. I did notice that they enlarged my pupils, but the colour was so similar to my own. I think I should’ve chosen a totally different colour – maybe brown next time!

I think if I had a darker eye colour, these would really pop! Unfortunately, with my eye colour and user-error issues related to putting them in, I don’t think I could wear these on a daily basis. I would definitely recommend LensCircle.com to others, as they have a wide variety of contacts available and I would even look for myself for Halloween costumes.

Brown Holographic Chevrons

Fall is the perfect time to take out all your brown and golden polishes. I started this mani by painting each nail with two coats of Beyond the Nail - Hay Ride. When it was completely dry, I stuck on some Chevron Nail Guides over top and painted over everything with one coat of Beyond the Nail - Cabin in the Woods. I immediately peeled away the nail guides. I topped each nail off with one coat of PRO-FX - Quick Dry Topcoat and stuck on some nail studs to the top of each nail.

Happy MOvember everyone!

Movember is set to bring awareness to some of the biggest health issues faced by men: prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and mental health and suicide prevention. I can't grow a moustache, so I thought I'd decorate my nails instead.

I started by painting my ring finger with two coats of Beyond the Nail - Holographic Black Microglitter. On my other nails, I painted two coats of Beyond the Nail - Bright White. When everything was dry, I placed some Wavy Squiggle Nail Guides on my pinky and index finger and painted over it with Beyond the Nail - Gravestone. I immediately peeled away the nail guides while the polish was still wet. I added a Mustache Nail Decal to my middle finger and topped each nail off with one coat of PRO-FX - Quick Dry Topcoat.
