New To Heroes of Newerth?

Once you have purchased your account, downloaded the game and installed it follow these basics to start your learning:

Beginning

Play the Tutorial and you will learn the key things about the game.
Next find some friends that play the game or join a clan and play with them as much as possible. The more you play the more you will learn the heroes and their skills.

Choose to get better

Watch Nigma's Basic Tutorial Part 1 and Part 2 .
Watch Nigma's Guide to Being a Better Player .
Use the Yet another Big Hero Guide! wisely. Print out guides for your favorite heroes if you can't alt-tab mid-game.
Read From 1400 to 1780: how a non-Dota player climbed his way to mediocrity (pub allstardom) to keep you in the right mind-set.

Don'ts

Don't be a jerk . Cussing out other players is not ok! But feel free to tell them they suck and why.
Don't play public games, they are a deranged version of what the game is supposed to be and the home of pubstompers. Also, you won't get any Goblin Coins here. Public games are for when you just want to dick around with your friends and also the only option if there's 6 or more people who want to play together.
Don't resort to cheap tricks like Ninja-hosting to bump your PSR, you'll just get pushed back down again, hard!

How to Improve your HoN!

These four pieces of advice will help you improve your hon:

Realize you're not a good player. Once you understand this, you can work to improve yourself. If you think you're a good player, fault will always fall to your allies instead of where it should be: You.
Play the highest level games you can get into. If you're 1409, play 1400+ games. If you're 1653, play (or host) 1650+ games. Do not play 1500+ games as a 1653 player, you won't improve.
Find some friends. Playing with other people will help you learn how to play as a team instead of for yourself. Above 1650, most players actually play as a team instead of picking all carries. If you get to this point and have only been playing with yourself, you'll have a hard time when the rest of your team tries to help and you don't let them.
Enjoy yourself and relax.

This will improve your game and make you get to the bracket you want. Obviously you have to practice a lot by playing a lot to help improve as well. If you have any questions about any other aspect of the game feel free to write some questions to me.

So what is Heroes of Newerth and Why do I love it

Heroes of Newerth is a dota-style game made by s2games. It is very similar to dota but has fine tuned graphics and some new heroes, such as my favourite The Chipper. In the game you can choose to be either Hellbourne or Legion. You then choose your single hero and begin the game. The game is usually fought between 5 players on both sides and involves gaining experience and gold from last-hitting creeps or heroes. The objective of the game is to destroy the other teams Base.

Anyway, HoN is a pretty tough game to get into but I definitely recommend it. You'll want to pick a hero to start with and stick with one you like while you learn the ropes. It costs $30 but it the best value of money i have ever spent on a single game. When i first started hon I found one hero particularly easy and that was predator, i recommended predator for your first hero to try. Hon is avalaible on PC, mac and linux so you now have no excuse not to try it.

In heroes of newerth my most favoured hero definately has to be the chipper. It is so easy to master and once you learn how to rocket you should be able to own.

When you begin always get stats. In the laning phase just harrass as much as possible with your auto attack and rocket if you feel 100% you will land it. At level 3 get two levels in rockets and 1 in tar. This would make it easy to combo and you will easily get a kill. once you have your ult start ganking with it. Build chipper as you wish but i find it best to get storm spirit with him to set up rockets.

Heroes of newerth empath

The new hero is very well designed. I cant wait to see the top tier teams use it effectively. I saw freshpro (or notail) use it and they didnt know what was going on. I hope they get good at it because it is such a good hero. I am awesome at it though. There are still alot of bugs they have to fix. Like for instance Empath can use Items while Ult'ing a player while they are both trapped in Cronos' Ult. This needs to be fixed asap.
