‘‘Karma is real, ’Coffee & Crumb Cake’’

Sharing war stories about the wild parties as one of Brad Renfro's entourage. Shacked up in a Park City, Utah suite during Sundance Film Festival. After 3 rounds of scotch at McSorley's on East 7th street between 2nd and 3rd avenue with the bartender , he finally let it out that he was part of Biggie Smalls security back in the days, they were from the same project block in Brooklyn. Irish everywhere, they always say your ancestors look down on you, Irish everywhere.

I was joined at the bar by a poet who was originally from Sarajevo and had overheard me talking about my travels in the ex-Yugoslavia. He was writing for the Wall Street Journal and had ''cracked the safe'' as we say for acquiring great jobs in New York after coming from a life of pure devastation. Poet and businessman what a combination right? Just by chance I had read one of his articles comparing wall street to a big cake, chocolate, with strawberries filling, frosting on top. Some take their slice and eat it, some share it, but everyone smiles and says mmmm, that's good.

I know 3 things for sure in this life, Karma is real and Coffee & Crumb Cake. Maybe it's the artist in me but coffee is no joke sir. Ol' Kaldi out in Ethiopia around the 9th century found his goats acting strange and said ''give me all of that''. Me being capricorn, and part mountain goat, I partake in my good share of coffee on the daily. Turkish coffee, espresso, french roast but it's gotta be black with just a bit of sugar, please. Actually since I got my Cezve it has opened up a completely new coffee experience to me and whoever visits my studio gets the finest ‘’Balkansko Espresso’’ of their life..

Crumb Cake goes great with coffee, especially in the early morning after a long night. But crumb cake is interesting because it is actually a complete cake that is made out of crumbs. If we would appreciate the ''crumbs'' we get, instead of complaining that it's just a crumb why not make it into crumb cake and use it to get going in the morning with the other things you need to know in life, Karma is real, Coffee and Crumb Cake.

Levi's Jeans has launched an advertising campaign titled "Make Our Mark" which is an exchange between American artists and musicians to collaborate together on "What Moves You".

Kicking off the week with a slow pull of a spliff and a strong coffee. We are preparing to record the new Dank album and I am full of ideas and inspiration from all around, not including my wallet. The wallet it is in bad shape, gotta put it back together like the band sometimes.
The creativity in the band is at an all time high being that most of us are all working on about 5 different projects at the moment and so our time is only occupied in music, in the studio as well as on stage.
We are trying to bring the music back to the days when it really had soul and created strong emotions when you heard it, not only with the vocalist, but mainly the music. My guitarist will make you girls cry on this album and it's not going to be from him yelling at you.
Gathering all the music together for the Dank project, I have included, but am still not limited to, soul music, blues, funk, rock, ska, rap, jazz and mixed it with various breakdowns that mix the genres together in the songs.
My goal for the Dank project is to bring the energy that my band has been bringing on stage for Spinz and collectively get it on tape. We all come from various music backgrounds though we all share a common interest and subsequent careers in urban music. Rok Lopatic (keys, synth bass) is a jazz pianist as well as an outstanding producer and mix engineer but he's not the only one, because my saxophonist Lovro Ravbar has a masters degree in Jazz music as well as being a teacher like my drummer Ivo Rimc. Lovro Ravbar recorded his own solo album as well featuring Rok on piano and rhoades. Zoki Calic and Jernej Trobentar are on rhythm and lead respectively and bring a dynamic sound to an already deep driving drums and bass.
I will be posting videos and pics from the sessions that will take place on August 2nd and 3rd. Dank project coming soon..

There are signs all around us telling us to stop and go. Don't turn right on a red light, no u-turn's you can feel what i'm saying. When we break these signs we can create problems for ourselves whether it be by crashing into a new porsche or getting an expensive gift from the piggies. No matter what signs are put in front of us, we gotta remember to notice the signs and proceed with caution and always, keep it movin'.
