Should we compromise to evangelise?

As we strive to return to the true worship of YHWH once observed by His people, we find ourselves moving further and further away from the beliefs we were taught – firstly in our early days as Sunday observant Christian and now more moving away from the doctrines of the Church of God.

Whether it be the calendar, sacred names, church hierarchy, tithing, gifts of the spirit, role of women in the assembly to name but a few – we find that we are moving further and further away from the erroneous beliefs we once held. So how do we reconcile this our desire, in fact our commission, to reach out to the lost sheep of the children of Israel, and bring them back to the true worship of YHWH?

In our desire to uphold and practice the truth, we must exercise estreme caution that we do not alienate out brethren who have not made the journey as far as we have, we must avoid at all costs the temptation to pound the Bible in their faces and we must hold in clear reality the warning from Yeshua, “Whoever causes the least of these little ones to stuble, it would be better if a millstone were hung round his neck and he were thrown into the sea!”.

As we move into the world to reach out we must follow the example of Paul – “I am all things to al men, to the Jew, a Jew as under the law, and to the gentile and gentile outside the law”.

In all things brethren be as harmless as a dove and wise as a serpent!

The Role of Women in the Church

There is a great deal of confusion, contradiction and downright un-biblical practice in the Churches today. The looming schism in the Anglican church over women priests, soon to be Bishops, and homosexuality clearly demonstrates how far we have strayed from the God of the Bible!

Even in the Churches of God there are women who would put their own desires and search for glory above the Word of God. At the Feast of Tabernacles in 2001 I met a woman who presented herself as the Pastor of her local assembly. The rest of the brethren in her group accepted this and when challenged that she was operating contrary to scripture she produced pages of analysis of the New Testament Greek to prove that the Bible doesn’t say what it actually says!

I understand that the Messianic movement in the UK is now lead by a woman – this is against the teaching of the Bible and will incur the wrath of God!

In the world around us we see total extremes in the role of women. In the west women strive for equality with men, governments set quotas and engage in social engineering, the model Supermom- runs a corporation, has kids, drives to hockey and soccer matches, works out, lunches and beautifies herself with her friends. And with a schedule like that she has no time for a quality relationship with her husband or children!

The error of the west is that the role of the man in the family has been so degraded that men think they bring no value, which is why so many don’t bother to stick around. Resulting in massive levels of divorce, broken homes, dysfunctional youth and drain on our social resources!

In the areas of the world where fundamentalist Islam has control the women are treated as chattels and possessions suppressed into medieval serfdom!

None of these models represents the true role and status of women in the Bible. Women are to be submissive to their husbands and husbands are to protect, honour and nurture their wives. Women are not allowed authority positions within the assembly but they have a powerful role to witness and evangelise in the world through their attitude and behaviour. Women are encouraged to work and have independent means, at the same time there is a balance, women have the central role in raising, educating and disciplining their children.

And there is a Spiritual reason for this – the physical human family is a model of the relationship between YHWH, Yeshua and the Church. Yeshua is the head, the church is the bride and is to be submissive to her husband. And as long as we allow this rebellion in our assemblies, we will deny ourselves the true blessings of attending the Marriage Supper of the Lamb!

Who’s Really in Charge?

If you had any exposure to the Worldwide Church of God or one of it’s offshoots you’ll definitely have heard about the “Government of God” which most of these organisations demonstrated was a corporate hierarchy with the sheeple on the lowest level with control, authority and power increasing the further up the corporate ladder you went. Deacons had power over the sheeple, ministers over deacons all the way up to the Apostle or Presiding Evangelist claiming ultimate authority almost on a par with Yeshua Himself.

But is that what the Bible really says? Are Apostles, Evangelists, Teachers, Prophets and Pastors ranks within the hierarchy? Or are they simply functional roles within the Church for the service of the Body of Messiah? If you read the Bible carefully you will find that there is only one position of authority – that is the Elder! And that is a position of service to the brethren. All other titles refer to roles within the functional Body of Messiah.

The whole hierarchical, government structure is designed to keep you bondage to the authority of men. It is the doctrine of the Nicolations which Yeshua hates! If you’re still in bondage to a corporate hierarchy – come out of her my people! Take personal responsibility for your own salvation – remember work out your own salvation with fear and trembling! Free yourself from the authority of power grabbing men and get connected in a personal one on one relations ship with Yeshua.

You shall love YHWH your God and Him only shall yoiu serve!

Hebrew roots and Jewish fables

When I was introduced to the Hebrew roots of our faith at the Feast of Tabernacles in 2004, it was something of a culture shock. But after a few days it felt more natural and as I began to understand more about the reason behind exploring our Hebrew roots I fully engaged with the process.

I bought a Tallit, a Mezzuzah, a Menorah, Shabbat Candles, a Shofar and all the books I could get my hands on. Some of these items I no longer use in my worship. As I have studies the scriptures more I came to realise that many of the Jewish traditions I had initially embraced we’re in fact unscriptural and many we’re even pagan!

I no longer cover my head with a tallit with white tassels – instead I pray with my head uncovered and wear blue tzit tzits (tassels) on the four corners of my clothing – as the Scriptures require. The magan star (of David) was embroidered on my tallit. It’s not found in scripture but it is a commonly used occultic symbol. And extinguishing the Shabbat candle in a chalice of wine is not found anywhere in scripture – but it is a commonly practiced fertility rite in pagan religions.

And don’t let anyone tell you that you must be physically circumcised or submit to the authority of the Rabbis (Pharisees) to know you Hebrew roots. if you do you overturn the blessing of liberty which Yeshua provided for us through His ministry and sacrifice!

End Time Prophets

The very first message delivered by the Apostle Peter at the beginning of the New Testament Church quotes the Prophet Joel – “And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God, that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh; your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your young men shall see visions, your old men shall dream dreams. And on my menservants and my maidservants I will pour out My Spirit in those days; and they shall prophesy”. (Acts 2:17-18 NKJV).

So we can expect to see a resurgence in prophecy as we get closer to the end days. But what does this mean to us as members of the body of Messiah; who do we know if we have been called to prophesy and what can we do to protect ourselves from the false prophets who will also arise in the end times?

This messages looks at these issues and gives us a clearer understanding on the role of the prophet and the tests we need to apply to make sure that we are note deceived by agents of the adversary.

Why is there no healing?

Shabbat Shalom!

We’ve just enjoyed a quiet but uplifting Sabbath fellowship.

This weeks message explores the issue of healing in the Church. I know many of us have loved ones, friends and family who are sick and in need of healing. And I know there are many in the body of Messiah who are frustrated by the lack of miraculous healing we see in the assemblies. It is a heartfelt cry from many of YHWH’s children – why can we not heal the sick and bring solace to the broken hearted?

Being in this position myself and having prayed long and hard for one I love to be healed I have had to study the scriptures again to understand why YHWH is apparently unresponsive to our prayers.

There are several possible reasons why YHWH does not heal as the scripture indicates –

a) His scriptures are untrue
b) He does not have the capability to heal
c) We are not praying in faith
d) Now is not the time for great miracles and healing

Those of you that know me will realise that I would never preach that the scriptures are untrue or that YHWH cannot heal us. I can’t speak for everyone but those in the body of Messiah who I know have offered heartfelt prayers for healing do so in total trust, faith and confidence that YHWH does hear our prayers.

So the only conclusion I can come to is that now is not the time.

Great Fellowship!

I didn’t record a new message this Sabbath because we were fellowshipping with Glen and Tracey Cain. They are Sabbath keepers from the London area who run the British branch of a a ministry called Yahweh’s Philadelphia Truth Congregation. This is a link to their website.

The drove for 4 hours from London to meet with us. And we had a great time discussing scriptures and fellowshipping so that we could get to know each other better and find ways that we can support each others ministries to bring the truth of Yahweh’s word to the people of Britain.

As with all fellowship with seasoned believers we were blessed to experience some serious “iron sharpening iron” Bible study. My list of topic to study in more detail has just grown even bigger!

Speaking in Tongues

This week’s audio message is the last in the “Gifts of the Spirit” series on the subject of speaking in tongues.

This is an extremely divisive subject and one which is most widely abused and misused in virtually all Christian denominations. Regrettably it has also taken hold in many Church of God/Independent Apostolic ministries to produce blasphemous behaviour and heretical teaching from ministers who should know AND DO better!

As I write this I am heavy in heart and moved to bring this message to my brother and fellow Elder in Tennessee who has been overcome by the foul spirit of Pentecostalism. The false teachings and behaviour which accompany the misuse of the Gift of Tongues only lead the brethren away from the love and truth of YHWH into rebuke and retribution.

Understanding and correctly using the Gift of Tongues is not difficult. Speaking in tongues are not a mystical gift as a sign of piety or righteousness – it is merely a tool to allow evangelists to complete their ministry of taking the Gospel to all nation – tongues is for speaking human languages to other human beings – it is not s secret angelic language for elite members of the assembly to privately commune with God and the angels!

1 Corinthians 14 provides all the information that is required.

²⁶ How is it then, brethren? when ye come together, every one of you hath a psalm, hath a doctrine, hath a tongue, hath a revelation, hath an interpretation. Let all things be done unto edifying. ²⁷ If any man speak in an unknown tongue, let it be by two, or at the most by three, and that by course; and let one interpret. ²⁸ But if there be no interpreter, let him keep silence in the church; and let him speak to himself, and to God.(KJV)

How many horsemen can you see?

It’s been an interesting week in prophecy watching.

Hezbollah have gained control of the Lebanon so the Shi’ite crescent is complete Iran, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon). Bahrain will also now come under Shia pressure.This power block, mostly directed and financed by Iran, is hostile to the West, it is a threat to the pro-west Arab states and could easily strangle the oil supply to the west. Russia also has a military treaty with Iran so as part of a strategic economic attack on the west, Russia can halt oil supplies through the northern pipelines and Iran tanker supplies out of the Persian Gulf.Is this an end time vestige of the MedoPersian empire of Daniel? (Rev 6:1-2 – And I saw when the Lamb opened one of the seals, and I heard, as it were the noise of thunder, one of the four beasts saying, Come and see. and I saw, and behold a white horse: and he that sat on him had a bow; and a crown was given unto him: and he went forth conquering, and to conquer. )

Russia, the cold war Bear, has been hotting things up in Georgia with yet another invasion of a sovereign, independent nation. Why did the Russians attack the only oil pipeline to the west (which was not in disputed territory?) Rev 6:3-4 And when he had opened the second seal, I heard the second beast say, Come and see. ⁴ And there went out another horse that was red: and power was given to him that sat thereon to take peace from the earth, and that they should kill one another: and there was given unto him a great sword. )

The cost of food and water is dramatically increasing in the UK up by £1400 per year for an average family. Prince Charles has also caused a stir with his dramatic condemnation of genetically modified food supplies. If his scenario is right a global famine could easily become a reality. (Rev 6:5-6 And when he had opened the third seal, I heard the third beast say, Come and see. And I beheld, and lo a black horse; and he that sat on him had a pair of balances in his hand. ⁶ And I heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts say, A measureof wheat for a penny, and three measures of barley for a penny; and see thou hurt not the oil and the wine. ) 

And finally Warren Buffet, among many others is convinced that the American economy is at risk of bankruptcy and has even appeared in a film about the impending financial collapse. (Deut 28:42-44 ⁴² All thy trees and fruit of thy land shall the locust consume. ⁴³ The stranger that is within thee shall get up above thee very high; and thou shalt come down very low. ⁴⁴ He shall lend to thee, and thou shalt not lend to him: he shall be the head, and thou shalt be the tail. )
