in Vampires

Many people today have a strong belief that vampires exist and indeed many class themselves as vampires ( º°`°º¤ø,¸Vampiresº°`°º¤ø,¸)

Some cultures still beleive in their old traditions about the immortal, but alot of believers today are mainly influenced by the fictional images of vampires that are portrayed in books and films.
The modern day folklore of places such as Mexico and Puerto Rico tells of the "Chupacabra" - a creature who is said to feed upon the blood of animals such as goats. There are numerous accounts/stories of people finding their animals killed with the blood sucked out of them, which then leads some to beleive that "Chupacabra" is some kind of vampire.

An author, Sean Manchester, has written several books on vampires and he was one of the first people to suggest that a vampire existed in London. He also claimed to have exorcised and destroyed a whole nest of vampires in the area. So, as the rumours were flying around (due to his allegations and the press at the time) that a vampire haunted the "Highgate Cemetery" ion London, this led to hundreds of vampire-hunters turning up at the cemetery. The cemetery itself was founded in 1839. It is alleged that Bram Stoker took his inspiration from here when he created the resting place of the vampire, Lucy Westerna in his book, Dracula. Lots of famous people lie here such as Michael Faraday, Karl Marx, George Elliot and Christina Rossetti.

In the African country of Malawi, hysteria was spreading in late 2002 and early 2003 about alleged vampire attacks. Infact it was so bad that mobs stoned on person to death and attacked at least 4 others, including Governor Eric Chiwaya based on the belief that the government was infact colluding with vampires.

In Birmingham, UK, Jan 2005, rumours were rife that an attacker had bitten a number of people which lead to people being fearful that a vampire was roaming the streets of Birmingham. Police denied such reports and so this case seems to be an urban legend rather than fact.
Romania, Feb 2004, its alleged that several relatives of the late Toma Petra thought he had become a vampire, so much so that they dug up his corpse, tore out his heart, burned it and then mixed the ashes with water so they could drink it!

March 2007 - Self proclaimed vampire hunters actually broke into the tomb of former president, Slobodan Milosevic and staked his body through the heart into the ground. The people involved claimed they did this to prevent him returning as a vampire but it is still not known whether they actually beleived this, or whether it simply a politically motivated crime.
There have been a number of murderers who performed seemingly vampiric rituals on their victims such as serial killers Richard Trenton Chase and Peter Kurten, who were both labelled "vampires" in the media after they were found drinking the blood of those imfortunate people they murdered. There is also an unsolved murder case which occured in 1932 in Stockholm, Sweden and it was called "the Vampire Murder"due to the nature of and circumstances surrounding the victims death.

During the 18th Century there was a big vampire scare in Eastern Europe. This all began with an outbreak of alleged vampire attacks in East Prussia in 1721 and also in the Habsburg Monarchy between 1725 and 1734. Two famous vampire cases which were officially recorded involved Peter Plogojowitz and Arnold Paole from Serbia. The story is that Plogojowitz died aged 62 bvt returned a couple of times after his death asking his son for food for his son and when the son refused he was found dead the next day. Plogojowitz returned to attack some neighbouts who died from loss of blood. The other case of Arnold Paole, an ex soldier turned farmer who was allegedly attached by a vampire whilst out working haying. After he died other people began to die and it was beleived that he had returned to prey on his neighbours. The two incidents were very well documented and Government officials examined (and wrote reports of) the cases and the bodies, and books were published afterwards of the Paole case and distributed around Europe. The controversy raged for a generation.

Hi everyone

Let me introduce myself. I go by the name of Spirit and I began running my paranormal group, Spiritual Circles back in April 2006 because I have a huge interest in the paranormal and spiritual world. I've been playing around with the idea of having a blog to go with my group for quite a few months, because not only is it a way to meet other people interested in the paranormal world but its also a great way to bring Spiritual Circles to YOU.

I am still "fixing" things on this blogspot but wanted to get the ball rolling with a little message from me.
