Spring 2023: An Encouraging Poem for the One who Knows God

God's grace will guide us in the days ahead,

no matter what wakes us up and out of our beds.

Your love is the light that makes us feel secure.

You are the One who gives us strength to endure.

We may falter but God will ever more be near

And when we need help, He'll lend a kind ear.

God's love and mercy are forever true,

A sign of Him blessing us through and through.

Grace given even when our love we withdrew.

Many have been called, but chosen are few.

Thank you heavenly Father for giving us life!

Not One Is Upright

5 “Go up and down the streets of Jerusalem,
    look around and consider,
    search through her squares.
If you can find but one person
    who deals honestly and seeks the truth,
    I will forgive this city.
²Although they say, ‘As surely as the Lord lives,’
    still they are swearing falsely.”

³Lord, do not your eyes look for truth?
    You struck them, but they felt no pain;
    you crushed them, but they refused correction.
They made their faces harder than stone
    and refused to repent.
⁴I thought, “These are only the poor;
    they are foolish,
for they do not know the way of the Lord,
    the requirements of their God.
⁵So I will go to the leaders
    and speak to them;
surely they know the way of the Lord,
    the requirements of their God.”
But with one accord they too had broken off the yoke
    and torn off the bonds.
⁶Therefore a lion from the forest will attack them,
    a wolf from the desert will ravage them,
a leopard will lie in wait near their towns
    to tear to pieces any who venture out,
for their rebellion is great
    and their backslidings many.

⁷“Why should I forgive you?
    Your children have forsaken me
    and sworn by gods that are not gods.
I supplied all their needs,
    yet they committed adultery
    and thronged to the houses of prostitutes.
⁸They are well-fed, lusty stallions,
    each neighing for another man’s wife.
⁹Should I not punish them for this?”
    declares the Lord.
“Should I not avenge myself
    on such a nation as this?

¹⁰“Go through her vineyards and ravage them,
    but do not destroy them completely.
Strip off her branches,
    for these people do not belong to the Lord.
¹¹The people of Israel and the people of Judah
    have been utterly unfaithful to me,”
declares the Lord.

¹²They have lied about the Lord;
    they said, “He will do nothing!
No harm will come to us;
    we will never see sword or famine.
¹³The prophets are but wind
    and the word is not in them;
    so let what they say be done to them.”

¹⁴Therefore this is what the Lord God Almighty says:

“Because the people have spoken these words,
    I will make my words in your mouth a fire
    and these people the wood it consumes.
¹⁵People of Israel,” declares the Lord,
    “I am bringing a distant nation against you—
an ancient and enduring nation,
    a people whose language you do not know,
    whose speech you do not understand.
¹⁶Their quivers are like an open grave;
    all of them are mighty warriors.
¹⁷They will devour your harvests and food,
    devour your sons and daughters;
they will devour your flocks and herds,
    devour your vines and fig trees.
With the sword they will destroy
    the fortified cities in which you trust.

¹⁸“Yet even in those days,” declares the Lord, “I will not destroy you completely. ¹⁹And when the people ask, ‘Why has the Lord our God done all this to us?’ you will tell them, ‘As you have forsaken me and served foreign gods in your own land, so now you will serve foreigners in a land not your own.’

²⁰“Announce this to the descendants of Jacob
    and proclaim it in Judah:
²¹Hear this, you foolish and senseless people,
    who have eyes but do not see,
    who have ears but do not hear:
²²Should you not fear me?” declares the Lord.
    “Should you not tremble in my presence?
I made the sand a boundary for the sea,
    an everlasting barrier it cannot cross.
The waves may roll, but they cannot prevail;
    they may roar, but they cannot cross it.
²³But these people have stubborn and rebellious hearts;
    they have turned aside and gone away.
²⁴They do not say to themselves,
    ‘Let us fear the Lord our God,
who gives autumn and spring rains in season,
    who assures us of the regular weeks of harvest.’
²⁵Your wrongdoings have kept these away;
    your sins have deprived you of good.

²⁶“Among my people are the wicked
    who lie in wait like men who snare birds
    and like those who set traps to catch people.
²⁷Like cages full of birds,
    their houses are full of deceit;
they have become rich and powerful
²⁸    and have grown fat and sleek.
Their evil deeds have no limit;
    they do not seek justice.
They do not promote the case of the fatherless;
    they do not defend the just cause of the poor.
²⁹Should I not punish them for this?”
    declares the Lord.
“Should I not avenge myself
    on such a nation as this?

³⁰“A horrible and shocking thing
    has happened in the land:
³¹The prophets prophesy lies,
    the priests rule by their own authority,
and my people love it this way.
    But what will you do in the end?

Higher Calling

A calling on my life
what more do I have to give
how much more strife?

What does it take to be the best,
to pass tests
or even earn a place to rest?

Higher calling, do you have one
or do you prefer to just have fun?
A race we start young to run,
get old and complain, "I'm done."
Burdens start weighing a ton.
But we can't give up now,
we can't call foul!

God calling people to work,
lazy folks just lurk...
watching others do what they are told...
even when they are very old.
Talk too much about what they won't do,
while hoping to get blessed off a few.

This road with God isn't easy,
but money hoarders make it sleazy.
People want to know more,
seeking a church open door,
hope Jesus is on the other side,
take off their pride.

But when fools are the gatekeepers,
when they act like creepers
killing people spiritually,
saying God has no power...
yet Satan is on his last hour.

We can't help but to grab our sisters
and brothers from wayward fathers and mothers
and tell them just how loved they are,
whether near or far!

God loves you so much that he gave up his righteous Son,
brought him back to life and showed you the truth
will give you eternal life!

Soul Lesson

What belongs to you
who belongs to you?
Christian, you got a lot of work to do.

I spent many nights crying alone,
because my mind had been blown
between work, college, and family.
Problems, sometimes all you see.

Yet, I had to give Him my burdens
or lose my life under the pressure
to perform,
conform,
and sign many forms.

Wasn't about to be that one,
who claimed God and then he's done.
Obtain money, power and fame
and then go off, become insane.

Satan's whistles, charms, and beauty
put people on paths of dirty duty.
They cry, moan, fight, and
lose sight...there is no beautiful
white light for those in sin.

Holy Ghost withdraws and
people are under the law.
No freedom in thought,
lost in confusion,
plans placed upon them of intrusion.
Infiltrate their minds,
make them stand in long lines,
enforce fines...

Read the newspapers,
check the 'Net, and sit down
and let...
the whisper of God come
free you!

Saw a man with a lot of money
in his hand, witnessed a woman who kicked in
sand and neither were interested
in spiritual things and all the bells
and whistles that they bring.

Rather live through life believing
they are in control,
they could care less about their own soul.

He knows,
he knows
we all reap,
we all sow.

Heaven awaits me

so far away my soul takes me

beyond the clouds...

down below I see

they don't have a clue

what is happening to me.

So busy,

busy

no time

problems are like sucking on a lime.

High above all the stupid stuff

the fluff

the huff

the puff

no wolf can blow my house down!

I'm not on the ground.

No longer hear the devil's angry sound.

Like a scary movie,

always anticipating a fight,

body often ready to take a flight

evil frequently in sight.

So grateful for the planes above,

they remind me of that Holy Spirit dove.

No Confession, No Change

Focused on the act
sit back and complain about lack.
A man with an attitude like a thumbtack.

No confession, no change.
Headed down a rabbit hole for the mentally deranged.
Met this one before, it never takes long before he
walks around sore.

A man easily offended over the littlest of things, he hides his truth--sometimes sings.

I questioned the Jesus he claimed to know,
the wayward believer was in a boat he didn't want to help row.

Jesus was to act on his command,
despite the fact the man could prevent sinking in quicksand.
But he didn't want to take Jesus by the hand.

There is no confession, no apology, no newness
only business...money, money that is the name of his game.
Juvenile excuses for not reading the Bible, trusting in God--they were lame.

He appreciates moments where he gets his five minutes of fame.
Lust women, shake hands with men, looks for someone to condone his sins.
Attention seek, the man acts as if he is not weak.
God provided the discerning with an information leak.

No confession, no change.

Money Worries

A dawning of a new day, so I pray.
Can't let them get to me, not today.
It will soon be the first of May.
Watching, waiting to walk on my flowers,
after months of rain showers.

What more did they want? Their words taunt.
God isn't leading me, moving me, or wanting me
to connect with she or he...He knows I can't pay their fees.

A new face looks back at me in the mirror.
No worries, no fear. Wipe away another tear.
Too much too soon...
thoughts I had as I stared at the moon.

Let too many people in...all I wanted to do was win.
They wanted to sin.

There is indeed a life beyond this one I recall...enjoy the fun,
but remember his Holy Son.
Sooner or later there will be no sun.

Eyes closed behind a bedroom door.
A body tired and sore, lying on a back--don't want to live anymore.

The government helps themselves, look for a legal crack
takes yet another citizen's money sack.

To the grave one goes, so stressed.
Heart under duress--
prematurely left.

If I were you and you were me,
you would clearly see,
there is more to life than bill collectors and fees.

Stopped in my tracks.
I didn't have the facts.

Held my peace--
wanted arguing to cease.

Could have, would have,
but I didn't.

Pain makes you go crazy,
could have left way back when,
but got lazy.

My tongue froze in my mouth.
My lips stopped moving--
head facing south.

Throat dry.
Started to cry.
Couldn't stand here and listen
to yet another lie.

There was no more talking,
just walking.

Answer to prayers--
done with the glares.

God had something to do with it,
no more fits.

You didn't see it coming.
It was Pain.
A blow to a stomach.
A crush on a head,
You didn't see it coming.

Where was God?

From the left,
Death shows up--hoping to finish the job.
Dark, deadly...
leaving you feeling downcast.

"God, do you see this?"

Bad news.
A voice on the other end,
you drop the phone.
A dial tone.

"I can't take much more!"

Here comes, Peace.
You are not defeated.
Energy to fight
with all your might!

God is in sight,
you prayed last night.
Storm clouds leaving.
There is no more
grieving.

Stubborness

I didn't want to see it coming.
Another lesson to learn.
Got myself involved in something,
Then I got burned.

Put my feelings out there.
Met with a cold-hearted stare.
The devil tempted me
with yet another double dog dare.

If I had been more discerning...
had applied my spiritual learning
then I wouldn't have been
the one wishing and yearning.

Back then called out to God for help
but He didn't come running.
He remembered what I did,
so on with the shunning.

Sit in a mess for awhile
until it stinks like bile.
Rush before the Lord again
and ask him to walk this mile.

Ugly Man

Thoughts and prayers to heal a soul--
take it all in!
Purge the sin!
Got more than enough stuff--
not interested in more fluff!
Need healing for my soul!

Material things can be annoying
like a big black, ugly mole
on a beautiful face,
but that one thing seems to be out of place.

Got a lot of issues,
not enough tissues!
But when enough is enough,
what do we all do?

We pack our stuff.
We get away.
We thank God,
we escaped yet another wedding day.
We pray.

Answers to prayer on a silver platter,
enough with the confusing head chatter!
We had more than enough to say to
deaf, dumb and blind lovers governed
by a too self-absorbed minion.

Abuse day after day,
so we get away.
Get away!
Get out the mind jail cell
today!

Get away!
Get away!

Realized my truth--
saw a brighter future.
I sat too long in false comfort
to avoid those emotional cries,
just wanted to believe those sweet, ugly lies.

God reminded me.
Oh yes he did!
God didn't want my soul dying
suffocated due to all that lying.

The pain he rid like a baby out
the crib...the pain he rid,
closed the devil's lid.

Godly Man

Man's righteous spiritual self
wouldn't respond to Krampas/elf, nor
the turkey, the tinsel, or the father named Time.
He wouldn't be mixed up in all sorts of crime.

No demon could reside within
causing him to commit any sins--
instead it would be out and about
waiting for the next opportunity to create doubt.

But man got his vision back!
Memories came flooding in
arranged like a card stack.

A spirit found peace
when he stopped thinking in terms of increase
the prosperity gospel had to cease--
didn't see the lasting benefit
his money never did sit--had his share of fits.
The minister and his money were misfits.

We get sucked into lies when we are weak
sometimes we put God in a back seat.
Then wonder why we face defeat.

Heard the stories of men and saw the glories of kin.
God's love letter impacted, made men feel better!

Oh God!

Help me through this storm
rain clouds all around,
less feeling up, more feeling down.

Had a thought that made me feel sad,
then mad, and now glad--
brought my burden to you,
but God knows what to do!

I had been carrying emotional ties,
due to believing so many lies.
Folks claimed to love,
but void of the Holy Spirit from above.

Thought I would be okay,
then I realized I had forgot to pray.

Sometimes we lose spiritual insight,
and instead of praying, emotionally we fight.

Pushing away the things we ought to do,
while forgetting about the God who loves me and you!

I wasn't always happy about the inconvenience of having to find a piece of paper and pen, then note what comes to my mind. Sometimes papers get lost, pens don't work, and thoughts disappear as soon as they appear. I was most appreciative of the blog invention because it helped with making my Internet experience more enjoyable. When thoughts come to my mind, it is nice to know I can come on Blogger and share what I feel God has moved me to share.

My weaknesses as well as my strengths appear on this site in poetic form. This is my release when those offline are unkind, uncaring, and uninterested in the people and things of God. My observations of society and relationships from a spiritual perspective are also on here. I rhyme to keep from crying at times. I share what I know to keep people out of the traps that I have fell into in the past. I tell people stories because there are life lessons worth sharing. I am happy sometimes when I right and other times I am sad--wishing for Jesus to return soon.

I thank you readers who have been with me over the years and sharing my links--I notice and I am grateful. For newcomers, feel free to browse my blog and spread the truth.

Satan Has No Love for the Rich

No love for the sinful rich,
a dark god annoying like an itch.

Fight to keep jealous feelings away,
so I look to God and pray.

Told not to focus on them,
the wicked, rich Them.

Advised it wouldn't be good,
they don't do what they should.

Once leaned on a righteous God to bless,
but now the backsliders don't confess.

Anointed with a false light,
godly things they put up a fight.

Desire to buy everything in sight,
push away God with all their might!

Got plans tonight, got plans,
doing devious things with ungodly hands.

Thought I wanted to be rich,
thought cash would satisfy my itch,
but then I hear people call a rich woman a "B*tch!"

Rich in mind, body and spirit,
Satan has a fit, declares one a misfit.

Deceived lovers of money,
look for thick, sweet honey.

Recruit black and yellow bees,
reminded money doesn't grow on trees.

From the looks of things,
there are plenty of six rings,
while the A-list entertainer continues to sing.

One day Satan will say, "Put up..."
But the blind will ignore and say, "Shut up!"

Give up anything to get something,
hope, wish and pray,
another one will lose a life before a birthday.

Rock Hard Soul

Rock hard,
big, small,
oval shaped, square, flat
brick, stones.

Foundations set in stone.
Life goals set the tone.
Millions, billions,
trillions...

Saw people as stones,
talking on phones.
Wishing to be anywhere but here,
tried to stay clear.

No eye contact,
trying to keep a stone heart
intact.

No love coming in,
sin stacked like rocks,
a Holy God they mock!

Tick tock, tick tock...
it's almost 3 o'clock.

Satan's minions at work,
got fools doing the twerk!

Tick tock, tick tock...
it's time for another shock!

No leaning on The Rock
when men watch the rock!

Big, flat television screens,
centuries old deities receive paeans!

Problems everywhere, like stones everywhere--
can't count them no more than scalp hair!

What on earth can the Christian do?
When like stones, he or she sits in view--
immobile, decorated, dirty, cracked,
shard with emotions hard.

What Would You Do?

What would you do if you had less dollars,
faced with a test created by scholars,
or saw evil men make your neighbor holler?

Would you pretend to love?
Would you realize a vision that came from above?

What would you do when the war is at your front door?
Would you fight with all your might or get worried or
scared and act like God is not in sight?

What would you do if you were dying today,
would you bother to pray? Would you know what to say?

What would you do if you had everything?
Would you give praise to God and loudly sing?

What would you do, what would you do?
The hours are few, a day, a second
a government coup.

Shouts to remove the Christian,
"Get out, get out!"
There's no more clout.

God warned of days like this,
luxuries will go amiss.

People will cry out in pain,
feel like they are going insane.

Attempts to appease their dark master,
but all ends in a dreadful disaster.

Challenges come in a deceptive surprise
through a myriad of black and white lies,
and then a diamond one,
falls over and dies.

The people cry out, "What are we fighting for?"
They always want, "More...more and more!"
But past plans don't bring solutions,
and neither resolutions.

A nation at war, a Star Wars,
has left many people feeling sore.

So confused, they know not what to do.
In darkness, asleep, sooner or later
they weep, and cry to a God,
"Where's our shepherd? We're sheep."

Alter on the Altar

Someone loves me
when no one seems to care,
someone loves me
even when I feel fair.

I appreciate the love of God--so real!
Better than the most fattening meal!

When life's routines get the best of me,
I look forward to what God is doing through me!

Prayers for a new and improved life,
and a little less stress and strife.

Happy to be born again,
avoiding any and all old sin.

A time when love comes around again.
Something brand new to begin!

No more reflecting on bad times,
good thoughts come in the form of new rhymes.

If I were to be a complete me,
it would only take God to re-build me.

Not enough time in one day
to do all the things I hear him say.

But he is ever-present with me,
he put away that old girl named, She.
