From April 4 to April 8, 2010, the Swarnabhoomi Academy of Music brought five-time Grammy Award winner Victor Wooten, inarguably among the world’s most well-known bass guitarists, to India for a series of performances and workshops in four cities — Chennai, Bangalore, Kolkata, and Mumbai. Sharing the stage with Wooten were Prasanna himself on guitar, Dr S Karthick on ghatam, and Bangalore Amrit playing the kanjira.

Digitalkids, is the solo project of Jack (drummer for Tripwire). Formed in 2007, it is all about ambient, break beats and dream pop music.

Says Jack, “My music basically reflects love. But it also reflects a lot of other things, mundane things. It’s the type of music which makes you sit back, relax and enjoy yourself when you’re on a trip (pun intended :P). Randomness is beautiful”. Some of his influences are Chicane, The Chemical Brothers, Schiller and The Prodigy.

Here’s presenting the lush and dreamy “Lemonade”, one of the songs on CocoRosie’s upcoming album ‘Grey Oceans’ (releasing next month). To be honest, this sounds like the band’s best work yet, and is one of the best songs we’ve heard (by any band) in the recent past. Can’t wait for the album to come out!

According to Paper Magazine, design/advertising studio Partners & Spade will be hosting another session of their Avant Garde Preschool event on April 11. At 11.30 a.m., for a one-time “tuition” payment of $30, Sonic Youth frontman Thurston Moore will deliver a “Dissertation on White Noise” to kids aged 8-12. All proceeds go towards the arts program of New York school PS 126.

When school kids usually get lectured about noise, they are told how to keep it at a minimum. Avant-garde, indeed.
