A little help please......

Got out for the first time this afternoon. Being the rookie that I am, I went out fully expecting not to see anything, let alone get a shot.
Got to a spot that I thought looked good and would hopefully produce something. Sat down, had the boys sit down and be as quiet and still as an 11 yr old and 9 yr old can be.
I called for maybe 15 minutes off and on. About 400 yrds out I'm certain I see a yote so I pull up the binos and sure enough there he is. Sitting down looking directly at me. About 50 - 75 yrds back there is two more but can only see from the chest up.
We sat and waited for a couple minutes but they didn't move. I tried calling a little bit more and a little quieter. Of course my adrenaline is really going right now for the simple fact that I've never really tried calling before and fifteen minutes into it I have three sitting in front of me. No idea where they came from. They just sort of appeared.
So anyway, rather than taking a chance of them spooking and not getting a shot at all, I decide to shoot. Too low. Miss number one.
I took the boys up to where I shot just to make sure that it was a clean miss. Sure enough. Nothing.
So we walk about another 75 yrds and theres another one about 350-400 yrds looking right at us. I new at this point there was no point in calling so I decide to take a shot. Miss number two......
For being my first time calling, I have no regrets. I must have done something right. The boys were with me and I think that they may have had more fun than I did. Sure, it would have been nice to kill a couple, but man what a rush.
Any who, my question to all you experts on here. 400 yrds out and its just sitting there. How do you or can you entice it to come a little further? Until I get a new scope and a bi pod, those shots are out of the question for me.

Forum: Predator Hunting

I made it on. Some of you already know me but if you don't= I love hunting. It is an obsesion. I do ok on turkey. Get my deer every year but I also take the first leagal one. I go elk hunting every year around St. Helens and Mt.Adams but rarely see them so success is really low. And my favorate hunting by far is coyotes. I get two or three per year but see them just about every time out. In past years I have hunted these guys three or for times per week, Nov to march. This year will be slower thanks to no job at the moment, but I hope I find something soon so I can afford to get out. Nice meeting you - Matt

Forum: Introduce Yourself To Other Members

Scam Alert. Read this men!!

Women often receive warnings about protecting themselves at the mall and indark parking lots, etc.

This is the first warning I have seen for men, unfortunately I'm the one who is giving the warning from first hand experience. I wanted to pass it on since you probably haven't heard about it.

I'm sure this will become more common place as the weather warms next summer and I'm sorry for not posting sooner but I was embarrassed. Anyways here's a 'heads up' for those men who may be regular Lowe's, Home Depot, or Costco customers.

This one caught me totally by surprise.

Last summer I became a victim of a clever scam while out shopping. Simply going out to get supplies has turned out to be quite traumatic. Don't be naive enough to think it couldn't happen to you or your friends. Here's how the scam works:

Two extremely good-looking 20-something girls come over to your car as you are packing your shopping into the trunk. They both start wiping your windshield with a rag and Windex, with their breasts almost falling out of their skimpy T-shirts. It is impossible not to look. When you thank them and offer them a tip, they say 'No' and instead ask you for a ride to McDonalds. You agree and they get into the back seat. On the way, they start undressing. Then one of them climbs over into the front seat and starts crawling all over you, while the other one steals your wallet.

I had my wallet stolen July 4th, 9th, 10th, twice on the 15th,17th, 20th, 24th, & 29th. Also August 1st & 4th, twice on the 8th, 16th, 20th, 21st, 23rd, 24th,and 30th three more times in Sept and once more in early Oct. So tell your friends to be careful. What a horrible way to take advantage of middle aged men.

Warn your friends to be vigilant.

P.S. Wal-Mart has wallets on sale for $2.99 each. I found cheaper ones for $1.99 at K- Mart and bought them out.

Forum: General Discussions

Just returned from a duck hunt in south dakota. The prairie pot holes are full of water and ducks. More ducks than I have seen in years in SD. All species. Should be a year for the record books. Only set out 2 spinners and 5 floaters - 5 man limits 2 days in a row by 9am.

Forum: Waterfowl Hunting

My 12 year old daughter and I went out for the opening and had a great time. I got my deer saturday morning and Emilie tagged out Sunday. We were sitting in our favorite spot when we heard a shot right behind us. We turned around and a buck came running by. It stopped 138 yards out and Em popped it. It was a nice little 3X4 whity. Em was very excited. She fugured she'd get a doe like last year but now she gets to tell all the boys at school she got a BUCK!!! WooHoo!

Forum: Deer Hunting

A good friend of mine is missing his Ruger 22-250. He believes it may have been stolen from his truck in the midst of moving from one apartment to another on the north side of Spokane within about the last month or two.

I know it's a long shot, but please keep your eyes and ears open for anyone who has aquired / purchased from a private party or pawn shop a used Ruger 22-250 that's complete with a Leupold scope, strap, and bi-pod.

A reward will be given for the return of this rifle, no questions asked.

Thanks

Forum: General Discussions
