Last weeks ride was a bit disjointed so will head back to do a proper ride though Charles Darwin NP this week end. Meet on Saturday arvo at the main entrance gate, here,  at 4:50pm for a 5pm start. We have made a slight change to our ride rating so check the new ratings here.

This weekends ride is going to be more of a challenge. The pump house track is always tough and at the moment with the long grass its a bit harder. So meet at the main entrance gate to Charles Darwin NP on Saturday arvo and we will see if we can flatten some of the grass down on the track, coming back through a bit of Charles Darwin.

Meet here at 4:pm for a 5pm start.

We had a great turn out last weekend for our beginner ride. I hope you all had fun! Will we hopefully be doing a few more rides like it as well as some skills sessions in the coming months. So this Saturday we will head to Lee Point for the ride. There is bound to be a lot of mozzies so bring some spray. The meeting spot for tomorrow is not the normal spot, it is opposite the Beachfront Hotel next to the cycle path, bring some cash for a drink after if you want… Meet time is 4:50pm for a 5pm start.

Call to action – Casuarina Coastal Reserve (Including Lee Point MTB Trails)

NRETAS and the Casuarina Coastal Reserve Advisory Committee with support from the Parks and Wildlife Service would like to hear from the community about their ideas for the future direction of the Reserve.  How do you think the Reserve could be improved, what works well and what would you like to see retained or removed.  The information you provide will assist in the development of a new Plan of Management to help guide the future of the Reserve.

It’s important for trail riders to have their say about the reserve by participating inthe survey on the Casuarina Coastal Reserve web site.

This week Mags is going to host a beginner ride around the non-technical tracks of Charles Darwin NP. This will be a great ride for anyone who is just starting out in MTB riding and wants to pick up some more skills or for those of you who think that Charles Darwin is a bit hard. She will set an easy pace with lots of stops to rest as well as plenty of chances to stop and work on some skills. Meet on Saturday arvo at 4:50pm for a 5pm start here.

For those of you who want something a bit tougher, at the same time I will be doing a ride at the Pump House track with a little of Charlie D throw in as well. Meeting at the same time and place as the other ride.

This weeks social ride is a nice non technical ride but will be a bit longer than most. Heading from the shop out to Howard Springs Pine Forest and around both the tracks out there and back again. Expect it to be around 30-35km in total. As always lots of stops to regroup and rest. Starting time is 4:50pm meet at the shop for a 5pm start. Expect to be back to the shop at about 6:30-7pm.

The Blare Witch track is always interesting at this time of year, and its been a while since we have been out that way, so its time for a Lee Point ride. Meet at the normal point at 4:50pm for a 5pm start on Saturday afternoon. Bring mozzi spray as they are bound to be trying to carry us away…

Tomorrow (Wed 18/1/12) we are going to do a evening/night ride out to the Howard Springs Pine Forest. We will be leaving from the shop at 6:45pm and should be back by 8-8:30pm. Will head along the cycle path and do a lap of both of the tracks out there.  Make sure you charge your lights up!

Ride rating – Easy to medium depending on how good your lights are!
