The History of Screen Printing

Screen printing is a printing technique that uses a woven mesh to support an ink-blocking stencil. The attached stencil forms open areas of mesh that transfer ink or other printable materials which can be pressed through the mesh as a sharp-edged image onto a substrate. A roller or squeegee is moved across the screen stencil, forcing or pumping ink past the threads of the woven mesh in the open areas.

Screen printing is also a stencil method of print making in which a design is imposed on a screen of silk or other fine mesh, with blank areas coated with an impermeable substance, and ink is forced through the mesh onto the printing surface. It is also known as silkscreen, serigraphy, and serigraph printing.

Props to Dump City Dumplings for their LOGO! It can be used in almost any color scheme making custom screen printing easy on any color garment. LOGO DESIGN should be 2 to 3 colors. This does not just fall under the category of custom screen printing in Bend Oregon, or custom screen printing in Central Oregon or any market across the world. If the logo having more than 2-3 colors means one of the best brands as far as marketing is concerned then I say go for it; hoewever, you are making a lot of work and cost for yourself and your business in the long run!

Dump City Dumplings set themselves up with a great name, one that is interchangable as far as diversity of color, a logo that can be used in great context in all mediums including interenet media and web design, embroidery, custom screen printing, or any physical market media print without any trouble or extra costs in the process.

Having a good brand is not just about the look, name, etc. but it is having the look, the name, and the fore thought to create something that will rock your market without breaking a start up businesses budget when moving forward with their start up marketing campaign!

Questions to ask yourself. Would your logo look good if you turned it black and white? If no, then I’d think twice about moving forward. Though you’ll usually be using your logo in full bleed color whether it is in screen printing, silk screening, embroidery, or physical print … their will be times you’ll be in black and white.

Beyond worrying about how your logo would fit in any market outside of Central Oregon, or Bend Oregon regarding custom screen printing, consider evaluate your logo on a business card before finalizing it. As a logo is shrunk down it becomes harder to pull off. Simple, memorable, and far from Goddy. Finally tape it to your bathroom mirror for 2 weeks before you say your final yes to it! Does My Web Site Suck?

It is something all web designers and web developers worry about. Its something anyone who owns a web site worries about even if they don’t know anything about creating a web site: Does my site suck? Sometimes to a web professional, or even just a savvy outsider, the answer can seem obvious, but its not always that easy to see from the inside.

I always hear people say, ‘Look at web sites that you like and emulate them.” This is good advice, but there is a very effective corollary: Look at web sites you hate and don’t emulate them. Look at them carefully–even the ones that are train-wrecks of bad code and irritating flashing graphics–why don’t you like it? Is it the colors? The layout? The functionality (or lack there of)? What mistakes have been made in the design of this web site and how can I learn to avoid the same mistakes on my web site?

A good resource for finding bad examples of web design is the aptly named WebPagesThatSuck.com. This site not only has a good collection of bad web designs, but also offers commentary and explanations of *why* they suck and what could have been done better.

So, check out some of these less than stellar web sites. If you learn something from them then they aren’t completely useless!
