2010 Bowman Baseball Boxes Going Crazy On eBay

2010 Bowman baseball cards are on fire thanks to the Washington Nationals super-rookie Stephen Strasburg. At the time of this post, Strasburg has made two starts for the Nationals. In his first game against the Pittsburgh Pirates he struck out 14 batters and got his first MLB win.

In Strasburg's second start yesterday against the Cleveland Indians, he struggled just a little as he walked four batters, but he did have 8 strikeouts in 5 plus innings. There was a problem with the mound as he kept slipping. Baseball experts say that's why he had the 4 walks. The game was shown nationally on TBS and you could see in slow motion that as Strasburg finished his follow through as he was throwing a pitch, his foot would slip on the landing. VERY DANGEROUS! He could have easily pulled a leg muscle or hyper-extended his leg. So manager Jim Riggleman played it safe and got him out of there. The Nationals went on to win and Stephen strasburg got his second Major League win.

With all the buzz around Strasburg's debut, his newly released 2010 Bowman rookie card has caught fire and is selling like crazy on eBay right now. Shoot, even the 2010 Bowman baseball blaster boxes are selling well as collectors are scurrying to get a few Strasburg parallels.

I was lucky enough to find five 2010 Bowman baseball blasters so far at K-mart and ShopKo. I will continue to search for these as they are getting harder to find. I don't know if Bowman will send out another wave of these blasters to stores or not. But one thing for sure, I can't find them anymore. I have included a few pictures of my 2010 Bowman blaster boxes in this post. I'm debating on opening them but I'm not sure. Part of me wants to rip them open but another part of me wants to keep them factory sealed. Why? Well the main reason is because collectors are busting these blasters open like crazy and eventually they will dry up. So, having a few of them still factory sealed will be a good thing in the future.

Plus, there a few other nice cards in this set other than Stephen Strasburg. Players like Dustin Ackley, Jason Heyward and Daniel Nava to name a few. But as we all know, Strasburg leads the way.

2007 Bowman Draft Picks & Prospects Hobby Box

With all the spring training buzz going on about the Atlanta Braves young super prospect Jason Heyward, I decided to pick up two hobby boxes of 2007 Bowman Draft Picks & Prospects.

These boxes feature the true rookie card of Jason Heyward and could start catching fire if he makes the big club and does well. all indications are that he is lighting it up in spring training and it looks good that Jason Heyward may start the 2010 baseball season with the Atlanta Braves, rather than the Minor Leagues.

As of today, Jason Heyward's spring training stats are as follows. He is batting .455 with 10 hits in 22 at bats, with 1 home run and 5 RBI. He also has 4 doubles. This kid just has the look of a big league player. Click here to see his follow through at the plate. I know it is only spring training, but this kid looks like the real deal and that's why I picked up the hobby boxes mentioned above.

It could be a shot in the dark, but if you are thinking about picking up a few of these boxes yourself, you better do it now before they start sky-rocketing in price. Of course Jason Heyward could end up hitting .200 and totally tank, as we all know life is full of risks. But hey! That's what makes collecting sports card so much fun. Looking for the next big rookie to collect!

2009-10 Panini Certified Materials Basketball just released

2009-10 Panini Certified Materials basketball was just released a few days ago. February 17, 2010 to be exact.

And not to anyone's surprise, Panini has produced an outstanding basketball product once again. Hobby boxes of this recent release are selling well already on eBay.

Each hobby box has 10 packs with 5 cards per pack. And on average, each 2009-10 Panini Certified box has 4 autograph or memorabilia cards.

And you have the potential of pulling some great cards of some top super stars. For example, you can pull NBA Prime Die-cuts of LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Jerry West, Bill Russell, Tim Duncan and Dwyane Wade. A very solid product from Panini.

I Picked Up Two 2009-10 Panini Limited Basketball Hobby Boxes

I purchased two hobby boxes of 2009-10 Panini Limited basketball over the weekend from Blowoutcards.com. The Panini Limited basketball boxes are on fire right now! So I had to get a few before they go up in price even more.

If you have read my other posts on this blog, you will know that when I purchase hobby boxes, I don't even open them. I just leave them factory sealed and put away.

The Panini Limited basketball boxes I purchased cost me $84.99 per. So, only time will tell if I made a good purchase or not. Because, like I said above, these will remain factory sealed. It will be interesting to see what these will be selling for a year from now.

I think Panini Limited will hold it's value simply because of the 2009 NBA rookie class. Rookie cards of Tyreke Evans, Blake Griffin, Brandon Jennings, Ty Lawson and James Harden make 2009-10 Panini a winner in the long run, imo.

Plus, you can't go wrong with the chance at Kobe Bryant autos and memorabilia cards that are randomly inserted into packs as well. A really nice product, in my opinion. I will post pictures of these factory sealed boxes after I receive them in the mail.

Mail Day! I received my 09-10 Panini basketball boxes today.

I was pumped today to finally get my basketball boxes in the mail that I had ordered.

As I mentioned in the post above, I ordered a box of 2009-10 Panini Limited basketball and a box of 2009-10 Panini Rookies & Stars Longevity basketball. I took some pictures of the boxes and have added them here in this post.

I will never see what AUTO and Memorabilia cards I got inside these Panini basketball boxes because I will not be opening them. I will keep them factory sealed and put away. But from what I've seen of the box break videos on YouTube, these Panini Limited cards are really nice. And, oh yeah, I have another box of Panini Limited that should be here next tuesday (Feb 16, 2010).

2009-10 Panini Rookies & Stars Longevity Basketball Hobby Box

I'm into everything Panini basketball right now. As you may have seen in another one of my posts on this blog, I picked up two 2009-10 Panini Limited hobby boxes.

Well, I also picked up one box of 2009-10 Panini Rookies & Stars Longevity basketball hobby. Looks like a very nice basketball card product.

I also purchased this Panini hobby box from Blowoutcards.com. I paid $42.99 for the box. Too much? Great deal? Only time will tell if I made a wise purchase. I know one thing. I won't be opening this box. I know I say this every time I post a new box pick up on this blog, but I just don't open boxes. I just keep them factory sealed and put away.

More Tyreke Evans Rookie Cards Are Now Hitting The Market

Now that the 2009-10 NBA season is half over as we enter February soon, more and more of Tyreke Evans rookie cards are hitting the market now.

This young kid has really been a big surprise for the Sacramento Kings and should win the NBA Rookie of The Year award. When the season first started, everyone was talking about Blake Griffin. And rightly so because Griffin was the #1 pick in the 2009 NBA draft by the Los Angeles Clippers. But Griffin got injured and had to have season-ending surgery and that derailed the start to his rookie campaign.

So all eyes are on Tyreke Evans now. The Milwaukee Bucks got a big surprise as well with their 2009 draft pick. They picked Brandon Jennings and he as already had a 55 point game in his young NBA career. But Jennings has hit the rookie "wall" and has cooled off somewhat. Still a very good looking young player.

But Tyreke Evans does not seem to be slowing down and he is getting better and better. He's big kid for a point guard at around 6'6". And he is averaging 20.7 points per game and 4.9 assists at the time of this post.

And some of hottest rookie cards have hit the market and are big sellers on eBay right now. A few of his hot rookies are the 2009-10 Tyreke Evans Donruss Elite Rookie Auto numbered to 499, as well as the 2009-10 Panini Rookies & Stars Tyreke Evans Auto Patch and the 2009-10 Panini Tyreke Evans Auto Patch 3-c numbered to 10. Look for Tyreke Evans 2009-10 Upper Deck Exquisite rookie cards to fetch some high prices as well.

If Tyreke Evans keeps playing like he has in his rookie campaign, it goes without saying that his rookie cards are great investments right now. So, you might want to pick up a few to add to your basketball card collection.

2009-10 Bowman '48 Basketball Hobby Box. 3 Autographs Per Box

My recent basketball card purchase is a 2009-10 Bowman '48 basketball hobby box. These boxes are very popular due to the fact that there are 3 autograph cards in every box.

There are 24 packs per box and 8 cards per pack. A real nice basketball product by Bowman.
These 2009-10 Bowman '48 boxes contain some real nice rookie cards from the 2009 NBA draft. The possible pulls from this box are the Tyreke Evans rookie card, Brandon Jennings rookie card, Blake Griffin rookie card, Jonny Flynn rookie card and more.

Speaking of Blake Griffin, he will now miss the rest of his 2009-10 rookie season due to his knee injury. God, I hope he's not another Greg Oden and ends up injured all the time.

My Recent Sports Card Pickups-2007-08 SP Authentic Basketball Hobby Box

With the NBA season kicking off I figured I would pick up a good, solid basketball card hobby box. My choice? The 2007-08 Upper Deck SP Authentic Hobby box pictured below. Why? Two words: Kevin Durant. The Oklahoma City Thunder are a good young team with some good players and Durant leads the way. Durant should have a huge year and I hope it drives this SP Authentic box up. This box of 07-08 SP Authentic would really be doing well if Portland Trailblazer Greg Oden had played well in the NBA. The 2007 number one draft pick has been injury plagued and has done nothing so far in his young career.

As always, any hobby box that I purchase, I never open. I just keep it in the shipping box and put it away.

It used to be tempting to want to just tear into the packs. But I have bad luck with opening packs so I just leave it factory sealed. Although I did get lucky back in 2006.

I purchased a box of 2005-06 Upper Deck SPX from Blowout Cards and I pulled a Chris Paul Winning Materials card numbered to 50. I ended up selling it on eBay for $125.00. So, I have had SOME luck.

But I have had some real stinkers too. For example, I purchased a case of Fleer Greats of The Game back in 2007. I was debating on leaving the case factory sealed.

But the lure of having a chance to pull a Chris Paul, Deron Williams, Danny Granger, Andrew Bynum or other good young players from the 2005 Draft was too much for me. I just had to bust open the case.

The results? The best card that pulled from that case was a Rookie AUTO of Jason Maxiell!
And that was it! Now, Maxiell is a good young player for the Detroit Pistons but he's no Chris Paul or Andrew Bynum. Yeah, I did get a few autographs from players from the past. No Larry Bird or Magic Johnson of course.

Am I in the majority or minority for feeling this way? Do any of you sports card collectors out there feel the same way that I do? When you buy a hobby box, do you start ripping open the packs or do you just keep it factory sealed?

2003-04 Upper Deck Triple Dimensions Hobby Box

I know that there are other 2003-04 NBA basketball card sets that are more valuable. But for my money the 2003-04 Upper Deck Triple Dimensions set is a nice, lower end option to get some rookie cards from one of the greatest NBA Draft classes.

Of course I'm talking about the 2003 NBA Draft that featured LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony, Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade.

I can remember all the hype back in 2003 about some young high school kid from Ohio that was going to be the next big NBA star and I was skeptical. Remember when Harold Miner was supposed to be the next Michael Jordan? NOT!

But that high school kid from Ohio turned out to be LeBron James and he has turned out pretty good so far..lol! And LeBron James rookie cards are a solid investment, obviously.

In closing, I want to mention that I picked up three of these 2003-04 Triple Dimension boxes at a good price back in June 2009. I paid $48.00 plus shipping per box from Atlanta Sports Cards. They have some good deals over there. I have ordered from them a few times and they are very reliable and they ship your product in well packaged boxes. I just had to give them a free plug because of their professional service.

2005-06 Topps Chrome Basketball Hobby Box

2005-06 Topps Chrome basketball is a very nice product and it's loaded with some potentially great rookie cards. The 2005 NBA Draft produced some of today's NBA stars in the making.

Guys like Chris Paul, Danny Granger, Andrew Bynum, Deron Williams, David Lee, Charlie Villanueva, Nate Robinson and Jarrett Jack to name a few.

Interestingly enough, the top two picks have struggled to live up to their potential so far. I'm talking about the 2005 number one pick Andrew Bogut of the Milwaukee Bucks and the number two pick Marvin Williams of the Atlanta Hawks.

But the other guys make the 2005-06 Topps Chrome a winner. Especailly Chris Paul and Danny Granger. Granger is lighting it up for the Indiana Pacers.

I have four factory sealed hobby boxes of this product and I'm thinking about getting a few more before they sky rocket in price. I wish I would have done the same thing back in 1996-97 with the Topps Chrome product. That set is loaded with rookie cards of Kobe Bryant, Ray Allen, Allen Iverson and Jermaine O'Neal.

2009 Topps Chrome Football Mini Boxes

I went to ShopKo the other day and they had a few mini boxes of 2009 Topps Chrome football. So I picked them up.

Topps Chrome football is always a big seller because of all the parallels that are in the set. And some nice rookie cards don't hurt either. This year's Topps Chrome football features the rookie cards of Mark Sanchez, Matthew Stafford, Percy Harvin, Knowshon Moreno, Darrius Heyward-Bey, Johnny Knox, Josh Freeman and Michael Crabtree.

As always, it all depends on how well the 2009 NFL rookie class does that will make these boxes valuable or not in the future. Josh Freeman was just promoted to starting quarterback by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers earlier this week so we will see if he does well or flops.

Overall, the 2009 Topps Chrome product is a winner and the cards look great. Nice job Topps!
