It turns out Florida’s Brandon Spikes is something of a dirty player. CBS ignored it at the time, but fans didn’t, getting this video of Brandon Spikes eye gouging a Washaun Ealey against Georgia on Saturday.

Spikes has been suspended for one half of this weekend’s game against Vanderbilt, a punishment which doesn’t seem all that harsh considering the opponent.

With last week’s South Park episode taking a look at the theatrical side of pro wrestling we thought it’d be great to take our own look at the expositional side of wrestling by counting down of our all time favorite wrestling promos. We aren’t going to go so far as to claim these are the ultimate superduper top 10 of all history or anything, but we think these can definitely all be argued and that you’ll enjoy all 10. Take a look:

10. HHH Calls Stone Cold Steve Austin ‘Barney Fife’

Probably the most favorable promo out there featuring HHH, here he is holding his own against a great promo guy himself in Stone Cold Steve Austin.

9. The Rock: Toronto Mother Canuckers

The Rock is of course known for his famous eyebrow and several massively popular catch-phrases but his greatest skill might have been his unique ability to rile up local audiences. That skill is on full display here as he takes on a hostile Toronto crowd.

8. Ric Flair Retires from Wrestling

After a career that spanned 36 years and included 16 Heavy-weight championships, the “Nature Boy”, Ric Flair said goodbye to the world of Professional wrestling in 2008. Wrestlers broke character following the the speech to thank Flair for all he did for the business. The industry honored Ric’s lifetime accomplishments by inducting him into the Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2008. Of course he’s now partially unretired and will be fighting Hulk Hogan in some Senior Citizen matches to take place in Australia, proving once again that wrestling is pretty damn close to being a soap opera since nobody ever truly goes away forever.

7. Jake The Snake Survivor Series ‘88

Jake the Snake, despite all his personal struggles, was another old school legend with the mic, as he illustrates here at the ‘88 Survivor Series. I’m not sure how popular an opinion this would be, but I personally would place Jake Roberts as one of the best 3-4 ever on the microphone.

6. Rowdy Roddy Piper Smashes a Coconut Over Jimmy Snuka’s Head

Roddy Piper was another gifted wordsmith and another guy who has tons of clips that could fit on this list, but we’re going to go with his all time classic rant vs. Jimmy Snuka that culminated in Snuka getting brained with a coconut.

5. Macho Man Randy Savage Defends Elizabeth’s Honor

Randy Savage had to make an appearance on this list, and while he has probably literally thousands of classic promos over the years we’ve picked this classic which highlights him doing something he had to do all too often: defending Ms. Elizabeth’s honor.

4. Bret Hart Turns Heel

Quite possibly the second most shocking heel turn of all time, Bret Harts performance following his “I quit” match vs Steve Austin was legendary.

3. The Rock and Chris Jericho Attack Stephanie McMahon

Seldom on the same side, The Rock and Chris Jericho (an underrated mic guy himself) team up to annoy the boss’ daughter, Stephanie McMahon. Some great one liners in this promo that highlights the mental agility of The Rock and Chris Jericho both.

2. Hulk Hogan Joins NWO

While Hulk Hogan was something of a dull wrestler, he was a hell of a promo cutter. This was one of the most shocking moments in wrestling history, the moment when Mr. USA and vitamin connoisseur Hulk Hogan turned heel.

1. Stone Cold Steve Austin: Austin 3:16

It’s tough not to make this your number one on a list like this, as this promo not only was extremely clever, but it also had a massive effect on the entire wrestling industry. Could you defensibly argue for anything else as number one? The line that launched a million t-shirts, Austin 3:16.

WTF was Steve Phillips thinking cheating on his wife with this Brooke Hundley chick who looks pretty damn chubby and mannish? And she’s a nutjob as well, as you can see here in her letter she wrote to Marni Phillips:

Hi Marnie,

My name is Brooke, I work with Steve and he and I got into a pretty heated argument on Sunday about the fact that he hasn’t been honest with you about our relationship. You see I’m the woman he’s been seeing for awhile now, and I’m not just some random girl he had sex with in parking lots, I’m actually a close friend who works with him on a frequent basis. I care about him a lot, and I’ve been asking him to come clean to you about everything, from when we first slept together in St. Louis in his hotel suite (where he assured me that I wouldn’t have to worry about getting pregnant since his vasectomy) to the fact that we have continued to talk, see each other and schedule meet-ups even since you found out. He’s upset because I told him I was going to tell you everything, but it’s important that you know this. We text all day when he’s at work and talk via hotel phones on the road. The texts have always been mostly about the sexual side of our relationship and I have some saved if you ever want to see them, basically stuff like when we’ll meet up next what we want to do to each other physically and how we feel about each other.

But it’s more than that, some of the texts and most of the calls are more about our friendship. We talk about his life when we went to see [SON 1] pitch and how he did, the fact that [SON 1] is starting football this week with four hour long practices, that [SON 2] is going to be in 8th grade and gets stuck with babysitting duty a lot, when you have family movie nights at home, and when he’s taking [SON 3] and [SON 4] to baseball games and how close the boys are being only a year apart. But he talks to me about serious stuff too, that in some ways [SON 3] and [SON 4] are the product of your reunion after his last affair, a sort of band-aid on a more serious problem, and now they’re the one thing holding him in your marriage since they’re old enough to understand (especially considering you were able to talk to [SON 1] and [SON 2] about the affair.) That you married him in Michigan right after college and while he’s glad you decided to stay at home, he enjoys being with me because I have more of a passion and drive to really do something with my life. And that you’re making him go back to mass and therapy despite the fact that he doesn’t believe it will save your marriage, but he doesn’t want to lose his kids.

I’m not telling you all this to hurt you in any way, but simply to show you I am a real person in his life, and that I care deeply about his happiness. I was raised Catholic too and while I know our faith dissuades divorce, it also respects it with regards to infidelity because people should have the opportunity to be with the whomever makes them happy and can give them what they need. I’m coming out now because I’m sick of hiding and sneaking around behind your back. After I brought up our next planned intimate time together in LA and Steve told me maybe we should just talk there and lay low for awhile so you or whomever that woman that called won’t find out about me, I realized he hasn’t even begun to tell you the truth. I may only be 22, but I’m not stupid and I hope you can understand we never wanted you to find out about us this way. I want you to meet me and I want to tell you anything you want to know, my cell number is ——- check the phone records you can see I’m not lying and to top it off Steve has a big birthmark on his crotch right above his penis and one on his left inner thigh, so you know I’m not being fake. Whether he chooses to stay in a loveless marriage for his kids or to move on and be with someone whom he says makes him feel better than he’s ever felt, it’s up to him, but at least everything’s now out in the open.

Brooke Hundley has a touch of psycho in her, but it’s clear she’s also just a full of herself 22 year old. Steve Phillips is a total dumbass.

Steve Phillips, who you probably best know as an analyst for ESPN’s “Baseball Tonight”, has been suspended by ESPN after an Phillips had an affair with a 22 year old ESPN intern named Brooke Hundley.

The New York Post has a massive article going in depth on exactly what happened during the brief affair between Phillips and Hundley … or more importantly what happened after.

Once Phillips called it quits Brooke Hundley started boiling bunny rabbits, making deranged phone calls to Steve Phillips wife and even going so far as to ram a stone column in the Phillips family home with her car.

Phillips had to go to the police because he “feared for his and his family’s safety”.

Naturally enough this all comes a decade or so after Phillips left his job as New York Mets GM because he had sex with a team employee. The guy clearly hasn’t learned that you don’t crap where you eat. Steve’s wife has finally had enough though; she recently filed for divorce. Hopefully Phillips has a nest egg saved away, because I think his days of being employed are probably over.

The first photos of Leah Ignagni, Steve McNair’s other woman, have surfaced on the CBS site Crimesider.

The pics show Ignagni out on the town with friends. Steve McNair was allegedly sleeping with two other women besides his wife, Leah Ignangi, and Sahel Kazemi who police believe killed McNair before turning the gun on herself. The seemingly open and shut case has proven to be much more complicated in recent days, as news of police irregularities have surfaced.

Leah Ignangi is 25 years old, and according to a now defunct LinkedIn page works at 61Five a Nashville nightlife magazine.
