The Washington Capitals beat the Ottawa Senators, who were riding a 3 game win streak, this win puts the caps ahead of the TB lightning in the Eastern Conference standings.

Alexander Ovechkin who was playing with stitches in his thigh scored 4 times for the first time in his career and added an assist. Also, rookie Nicklas Backstrom added a tally and 3 assists. In addition Alexander semin broke out of his point scoring drought with a goal and a couple of AST.

For Ottawa Jason Spezza had 3 ast and a goal.

This turned out to be a nightmarish night for Ray Emery and Olie Kolzig, the two goaltenders. with a combine 14 goals scored by each team.

Bruce Boudreau commented on Ovechkin's play when a reporterof course asked about his injury "i was just waiting for his skate to cut his other leg," which was sarcastically. This performance puts the caps ahead of TB in the standings,so rejoyce caps fans were not in last!!!!!!!!!

Most of the country favors the Beaver believers in this one terps fans just want to see Maryland perform at its top level and win like against BC. Unfortunatley for both teams, they will have to SHARE a sideline at the game because of stadium malfunctions, which neither team is happy about.

A preview of this one. Maryland relies heavily on its run game with keon lattimore and lance ball, but if Chris Turner can step up his game Oregon States stunning run Defense won't help them at all and the terps will run all over them, but the terps will still have to play solid D. However if MD fails to do this Oregon State looks like they have a chance to run away with this one early and lead to a rout.

Caps lose by 4-3 in OT, tied for dead last with TB, but at what cost???

During the first period when Colby Armstrong(PIT) scored the pens second goal of the game capitals goalie Brent Johnson, who had won his previous 2 starts, slid in an awkward position trying to make the save and hurt his knee and is out for 2-4 weeks. Also, later in the game,with the caps up by 1, caps star forward Alex Ovechkin left the game with what appeared to be a groin injury and would not return. Due to club policy word on Ovechkin and Johnson's injuries can't be any more clear than that, though NHLTV analysts said that Ovechkin had a cut in his leg that needed to be stiched, but could not return because the doctors couldn't stitch it fast enough.

In the end this was a game that should have been won by the caps, but they blew it. Not to blame the new coach Boudreau, but when pit scored the tying goal to make it 3-3 with seven seconds left on the PIT power play boudreau sent out center Brooks Laich to take the faceoff, instead of Nicklas Backstrom or Boyd Gordon, who had both won nearly 90 percent of their faceoffs in the game.

Then in OT Sid the Kid set up a play and the puck came loose and to make up for a lackluster game in which he fumbled the puck twice, leading to caps goals, former cap Sergei Gonchar blasted a slapshot right past Goaltender Olie Kolzig and that ended the game.

This means that the caps are now only5 pts away from a playoff spot in the tightly packed Eastern Conference, but need to find a way to win, whilst other teams lose, but for now they are playing better than the struggling division rival TB lightning.

Texas won 52-34, despite sophomore QB Colt McCoy fumbling 4 times in the game. Ironically, even though he fumbled 4 times McCoy earned the honor of being the games most valuable offensive player because he led the longhorns to a giant route over the sun devils.

Assasins killed woman prime minister Benazir Bhutto earlier today in her campaign. This has caused much violence among pakistanis today. The gunmens explosion killed at least 20 other people in pakistan.

Many people are rioting and being extremely violent in the streets in Pakistan. Also, bhuttos security faces a tough situation because it showed today that it can't protect its own countries leaders.

The New England Patriots are looking to become the 1st ever 16game regular season undefeated team and join the 72 dolphins as the only undefeated teams, though many like Don Shula say should they go undefeated there should be an asterisk, which in many ways should be true.

This should be true because the NFL found out they were cheating against the jets but didnt make them forfeit that game, which is unfair because you shouldn't win if u cheat, especially in sports, and using SpyGate was cheating.

On the other hand for every1 who wants to see them go undefeated or lose the last game vs Eli and the giants john kerry was succesful in his campaign and the game will be simulcasted by CBS and NBC along with NFL network. The giants say they want to win, but given theyre locked in at the #5 seed they may rest their starters.

Earlier yesterday the Washington Capitals hired so called interim coach Bruce Boudreau to be their new head coach.

The Caps responded to this with a win 3-2 against the struggling tampa bay lightning. The only lightning player to score was Vinny Lecalvier, on the other hand the caps scored 3 goals, 1 by dave steckel,1 by Brian Pothier and the GW goal by Matt Bradley, though the goal was slightly questionable,but well deserved. Notable assists: Steckel(WAS):2AST Ovechkin(WAS) AST, St. Louis (TB): AST.

After the game TB coach John Torterella was saying about the 3rd goal, "You get what u deserve," meaning that the lightning were playing so badly that, that goal by the caps may have been questionable, but the way his players were playing it should have and was a goal.

Notable Performances: Dave steckel had 1 goal and 2 assists in the caps win, while vinny lecalvier added his 24th and 25th goal of the season, despite being on a bad road team.

NHL rookie goaltender Karri Ramo was spectactular for the lightning, but they still lost. Torterella said" if not for him it could have been 8-2." which was quite true.

purdue QB curtis painter threw for 546 yds 3tds and 2 INTs and led the boilermakers to a 51-48 bowl win the opposite outcome of last years bowl vs MD. at first it looked as though the boilermakers were gonna run away with the game but CMU fought back and tied up the score from being 21-0 to 38-38, after it was 38-38 the teams traded TDs and FGs. then purdue got the ball with a minute to drive down and score, which curtis painter did and the kicker QB curtis painter

The Atlanta Falcons are looking into trying to hire Marty Schottenheimer as their new coach, but have not yet. So far the falcons have been turned down by Bill Cowher and Bill Parcells.

Caps lost to the Montreal Canadiens last night 5-2. There weren't really any bright spots to last nights game as the Caps increased their losing streak to 2.

Baltimore Ravens will start Troy Smith this Sunday in Seattle. If Kyle Boller is unable to go as 2nd string then Cullen Finnerty will be the backup. WR Mark Clayton would be the 3rd emergency option at QB in this situation.
