Kaymer was champion in 2010, the year that the golf club celebrated its 100th anniversary, and defends his title.

The tournament consists of 72 holes divided over four days. The professionals play 18 holes per day. The play format is stroke play, in which the total number of strokes taken by a player assed up. The player who has the lowest number of strokes after four rounds wins the tournament. After two days, the players with the 70 best scores go through to the third round. This division is called the cut.

In the event of a shared first place, the championship will be decided by a sudden death play-off on Sunday immediately following the final round. The first player who plays out a hole with less strokes than his opponent wins.
