The Roll-Up calculator is a handy and fun little tool you can fit easily in your pocket or purse. The calculater is colorful and rolls up into a compact cylinder that you can put just about anywhere. It even comes with a carrying strap so you can attach it to your bag or belt loop.

The Roll-Up calculator is battery powered but also includes a solar back up. When unrolled it measures approximately 4″ x 5″. This tiny calculator comes in five fun colors, including pink, blue, clear, tangerine, and teal. The Roll-Up calculator also makes a great gadget for kids going back to school; it fits nicely in a pencil case or tied to a back pack.
Just occasionally a product comes along that simply blows us away. We get to see a lot of crazy and sometimes brilliant inventions, but Laser Cosmos is without a doubt the most superb one we’ve seen. There is no product out there that comes even close to the sheer excellence of this galactic wonder – sorry to sound quite so effusive, but really, it’s staggering.

Imagine lying in your room, and having the ceiling whipped away to reveal the vast outreaches of the cosmos whirling overhead, complete with misty blue nebulae (which you can turn on and off!) and the occasional shooting star. Fully adjustable and requiring no set up, this super powerful space projector scatters a random panoply of sparkling green stars that will fill any room from the tiniest bedroom to the largest warehouse with a crystal clear animated star display. What’s so clever about this (apart from everything of course) is that it seems so three-dimensional, the varying brightness of different stars makes some seem close and others to come from distant galaxies.

Created from powerful green laser and holographic technology, a display this bright and clear has never been available before. It’s utterly mesmerising, and had us transfixed for hours (literally). Whether you’re zoning out to music, throwing a party or just chilling, this stunning cosmic light show is like nothing we’ve ever seen before. Truly one of the most amazing light shows you will see anywhere.

Weighing in at just 68g, ezVision Video specs plug into your iPod Video or any portable video/movie/DVD player and screens your movies in such a way that it seems as though you’re looking at a huge screen. They allow you to zone out from the world around you and get right into the movie, slide show, or whatever. There are retractable headphones that are built into the arms of the specs, so you can truly plug-in and zone-out. Watch movies in bed without disturbing your better half, chill out on the train in front of a top film, or plug in in-flight and free yourself from those horrible little seat-back screens. They have an 8 hour re-chargeable battery, an integral volume control, and come with adaptors to connect to iPods (and we tried it successfully with the new Zune player too) and DVD players. When you can’t get to the cinema, bring the cinema to you.

Video glasses are a type of technology that has never really taken off, because the technologies that are required have never really melded all that well. This latest product, the Qingbar GP300, from Yellow Mosquito, makes a damned fine attempt, but if you ask me, is a little off course. Sure it will give you a 50″ screen for a fraction of the cost and a lot less material than a beastly LCD or Plasma display, but it stops short of greatness because of some engineering shortcomings.

The trouble is, they have tried to pack everything into the glasses, including an earphone jack. Rather than do that, why not offload some of the hardware onto a remote unit. If you are going to have wires dangling off this thing, why not eliminate some more of the weight from the glasses and supply these functions via the base unit. Power, sound and memory access and USB could all be supplied from the base unit. The nose plates look uncomfortable. They would have done better to opt for a single piece bridge. Think interchangeable rather than adjustable.

I am a lifelong glasses wearer and I can tell you, the more weight the frames have, the harder they are going to pinch your nose. If you want something that can be worn for extended periods of time or for daily use, you want it to be as light as possible. The nose plates look uncomfortable. They would have done better to opt for a single piece bridge. Think interchangeable rather than adjustable.

Video glasses have the potential to be a real hit. Think of them as earphones for the eyes, but they are only going to hit when they become practical. Yellow Mosquito’s Qingbar GP300, is almost there, but not quite.

Ever since pubs started being replaced by ‘bars’ it’s become increasingly difficult to buy a decent pint – and bottled beers seem to be little more than gas and weed killer. In the past homebrew was equally awful, and a lot murkier, but thanks to some astoundingly brilliant Canadians home brewed beer is now dangerously gorgeous and easy to make. The Beer Machine is simplicity itself to use, just add the beer mixture (made from 100% natural ingredients and delightfully free of all those ghastly chemicals.), and in seven to ten days you’ll have 17 pints of really excellent beer.

It’s fun, it’s easy, and boy what a great reward.
