PROGRAM #6: SPRINGVILLE KIDS CLOSE 2010 SUMMER READING WITH A "SPLASHING" CARNIVAL!

On Thursday, July 22 at 3:30 P.M., 10 kids and 4 adults participated in a "Grand Finale" carnival! We enjoyed playing "Octopus Hoops", "Bathtub Rings", "Pirate Ship Cannonball Throw", Dolphin and Whale Musical Chairs, and "Make a Splash" Balloon Toss!

We took our own pictures in a nautical setting, made alligator magnets and enjoyed a snack! There were many prizes and goodies! Children may continue to work on their reading records through the end of summer for more prizes. Springville Branch Activity Day will resume in August and will be held on the 1st Thursday of each month from 2:00 - 5:00 P.M.

The 2010 Tulare County Library Program was a "Splashing" success and we all had a blast! Springville kids read over 10,000 pages this summer and a total of 108 kids and 32 adults attended the program with an average attendance of 18 kids and 5+ adults with over 50 children registering and a total attendance of 140! "Splashtabulous!"

PROGRAM #5: SPRINGVILLE KIDS EXPLORE THE PACIFIC OCEAN!

On Thursday, July 15 at 3:30 P.M., 15 children and 4 adults explored the Pacific Ocean underwater sea life! We studied tide pools, the Coastal Sea Otters, the Arctic Polar Bears, Pacific whales, dolfins, porpoises and the dreadful shark! On our way back to port, we stopped off at Anarctica! Penguins were there to great us!

We rocked-out to YELLOW SUBMARINE, DOWN BY THE BAY, and OCTOPUS GARDEN!

We had a great time making our own shark hat!

PROGRAM #4: SPRINGVILLE KIDS ENJOY "COUNTRY SPLASHDOWN"!

On Thursday, July 8 at 3:30 P.M., 14 children and 5 adults participated in country shananigans!

Special guest, Brent Gill, read us several barnyard stories, including LEON AND ALBERTINE by Christine Davenier and a preview of his own children's book THE THREE LITTLE CALVES. We also listened to THE WIDE MOUTH FROG by Keith Faulkner.

After we did the "chicken dance", we made alligator note pad necklaces and enjoyed a snack.

On Thursday, July 1 at 3:30 P.M., 26 children and 6 adults enjoyed "patriotic" and "splashilicious" songs and music by local entertainer Patty Torrey Holvey! We all prepared to celebrate our nation's upcoming birthday with music and songs about water and patriotism! We all decorated our own "Moose" hat and prepared to read, read and did I say read?????

Next week on

Thursday, July 8, we will be visiting the country and we will be having a country "Splashdown"!

PROGRAM #2; SPRINGVILLE CHILDREN SEEK NEW ADVENTURES ON THE SEVEN SEAS!

On Thursday, June 24 at 3:30 P.M., 30 children and 8 adults decided to "Make a Splash" as pirates! Black Ashes, of party company A WISH YOUR HEART MAKES, read us a pirate story, made us walk the plank and helped us follow the pirate map to discover a hidden treasure in the Springville Library!

We now look like real pirates as we have made our own pirate hat!

Be sure to join us next week on Thursday, June 30 at 3:30 P.M. as we celebrate our nation's birthday!

Special guest, Patty Torrey Holvey will have us singing up a storm! Happy Birthday, USA!

Be sure to attend next week's "High Water Adventure" as ROSE ASHES, lady pirate from A WISH YOUR HEART MAKES will definately make us walk the plank and make a huge splash!

SPRINGVILLE BRANCH LIBRARY CELEBRATES TULARE COUNTY LIBRARY'S "A CENTURY OF SERVICE" 1910-2010

Over 65 Springville patrons participated in the Tulare County Open-House Centennial Celebration at the Springville Branch Library on June 10, 2010! Patty Torrey Holvey entertained children and adults alike with her songs and instrumental renditions. Local authors, Marilyn Meredith, Jeff Edwards, and Brent Gill brought samples of their specialized literature. The Library Gingerbread Man by Dotti Enderle was read and children designed their own dewey ducks after their favorite library subjects. They also made Father's Day Ornaments to take home to Dads. The Springville Historical Society provided a display of the Springville Library and Town History! Library handouts and refreshments were enjoyed by all!
