IF SPRINT DOESN'T GET THE HD2 I'M GONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't talk on my phone that much so I'm not too worried about service, but I do love playing around with my Mogul. It's my favorite toy, but I'm ready to upgrade and I'm going to get an HD2!

Android is a new OS so the apps available for it are limited. But you should be able to find everything you need. From what I've read Android is more user friendly than WM and a little faster since it's not as bloated. I don't think it's as customizable as WM.

With Sprint you have 30 days to return a new phone. If you're really thinking about an Android phone then try the Hero and if you don't like it or it doesn't meet your needs you can return it for a WM phone.

I'm sad to say that my Mogul died on me yesterday (the red light of death was on and it will no longer power on). I'm going to take it to a Sprint Repair shop in the hopes that they'll give me TouchPro as a replacement as opposed to yet another refurbished Mogul. I know that they now have a surplus of refurbished Moguls since everyone has been upgrading theirs to other phones, so it's kind of a toss-up. My plan is to just upgrade if they don't send me the TouchPro.

So, there lies my question(s). I LOVE the ability (that you guys have taught me) to fully customize Windows Mobile phones. I also love the slide-out keyboard, as far as hardware goes. Is the TouchPro (I or II) as customizeable as the Mogul? The $350.00 price tag is really what is holding me back, though.

I also looked into the HTC Hero online and was impressed. I tinkered with it at the Sprint Shop and I liked it, BUT...no Windows Mobile and no slide-out keyboard (which I knew beforehand). The under $200.00 price tag was also a plus. The accelerometer changed between landscape and portrait slightly faster than the Mogul, so I guess the slide-out isn't a necessity. What are your thoughts on Android? I know that the Hero has apps available, but how does that stack up compared to downloading app cabs for Windows?

So how does tried and true Windows Mobile (i.e.: TouchPro) compare to the newer, edgier Android (i.e.: Hero)? All I know at this point is that HTC rocks!

loading a cooked rom is pretty easy, i followed the guide on xda before and did it no problem. Now im back to running the latest rom from sprint and have the phone setup to how i like it with 20-22mbs of ram free all the time.

i agree with you 100%, the mogul is very outdated- but since i saw the announcement on here i figured that just like with 6.1 we'd get 6.5; i'm playing with the idea of downloading the "cooked' rom off PPCGeeks but i've never done that, don't wanna have a horror story.....i'll check sprint, but i doubt they have it and have not sent a txt about it =/

BTW If anyone has downloaded the "cooked" rom off PPCGeeks, please post/ Msg me your findings...any feedback is appreciated.

the mogul is an out dated device so why would they go through the trouble of making 6.5 officially from them? Also check out the carrier as they usually release a version with the new rom. Otherwise install a custom one, i really dont see 6.5 "officially" coming to our device.

Ok, so i just checked the Official Site..www.america.htc.com/mogulupdate.still no link to update...i don't think i have to say how sick i am of WM 6.1...what gives????

Pavlov.. you need to enable the registry editing first. Unlock the registry under the tools menu.

then you can edit.

With 6.5 it seems when they try to fix one thing they break another. I don't like the new interface, especially the bottom menu buttons. Maybe if you cooked your own ROM you could have both features, but I'm not sure if you can mix and match.

I spent a long time on the phone with a tech at Sprint. Botom line is a trip to the repair center so they can see whats up with the machine. I also keep getting an error with GWES.exe. Dylan, the sprint tech, mentioned that the've seen that appear after a hard reset. The error doesn't pop up when Touch Flo 3d is off. Though GWES is not a HTC program, the problem with it and Touch Flo 3d could be related. I've read about memory leaks with GWES.

Hey Good news though. Error 129 stopped when I did ##3282# & Restore. I just get a purpetual code 67 & 1012 now. I will give Dylan props because he stayed on the phone to resolve my problem for 2 hours. So, after a few calls and 3 techs its a shooting match who you get that cares.

I just can't find exactly what I want. I'm sticking with the old 6.5 today screen, but want the new 6.5 start screen with the drag and drop ability. I don't suppose there's a cab to add that to an older build like the 4, 5, 6 column cabs (4's enough for me) is there? I tried searching the net, but don't see anything.

Lets see I: Removed the battery; Soft reset; Hard reset; Called Sprint and they had me Recover the phone....but that just cleared out the Profile 1 data from EPST and reset the M.IP index to 0 and after doing that the phone tries to activate like it did when it came out of the box. The 129 error comes up again.

Now I was able to get the internet but can't. I can use the phone and text.

Thanks for the suggestion but the phone wasn't connected to the computer...but you had me thinking. I did change the PRL the one on the phone had a higher number so I put 60652 on the phone to no avail. I called a Sprint store that has a repair shop. They said they would call, but I doubt it. I seen on Sprints Forum that a tech there used a tool called OMA and resolved the problem. Thats next. Still any ideas...pass them on.

I just tried and didn't have any problem updating the profile. Did you try a soft reset? Error code 129 usually relates to trouble connecting to peripheral devices. Is your phone synced to your PC? If so, try updating when it's not synced.

I'm able to use the phone, text, surf, but when I click on update profile, update firmware, windows update, I get an error 129. I have a TP2. And yes I know this is a Mogul forum.

Woohoo! The four column cab works on the drag and drop version. Now if only I could a drag and drop version that doesn't have the drop down at the top of the today screen so I could use x-button. Or maybe I to find a version of x-button that works on that drop down but I really like the start button at the top. If nothing else it just looks better.
