I don't really care for the 6.5 interface (Titanium, or whatever you want to call it). There are a few editors out there along with additional panels (tabs), ie. weather, program launcher. Just find the threads on PPCGeeks or XDA and you'll be able to customize it to your liking.

You can customize it to have all the functions of the HTC Home Plugin, and then some. You just scroll up and down and choose which panel you want. It's a fairly basic UI. Unfortunately you can't use any other Today Plugins. In the items list it's listed as Window's Default and overides any other item you check. You might be able to use Second Today with it, but I haven't tried and I don't remember reading about anyone else using it.

The honeycomb Start menu takes some getting used to and isn't very user friendly, but there is a cab which changes it back to the 6.1 version. As an alternative you can run something like Quick Menu.

I'm still using UltimateLaunch instead of the default Today screen. It's a lot more fun and customizable.

Anyone running this I'm interested in knowing how you like it. I'm especially interested in knowing how the new today screen is. Does it work similar to touch launch? I thought I would miss HHC, but I saw a 6.5 screen shot that shows a 7.0 style today screen that looked similar to HHC with an additional counter/button that looked like it might be voicemail which is something I've been hoping for. Can you still use ultimate lauch and other plugins?

I am using ROM version 3.56.651.0. I have tried a couple of hacks and it didn't work. I tried to edit the registry myself using CeRegEdit and it denies me access to edit the registry in anyway. Any advice?

Did you try deleting the connection..

Start>Settings>Connections>Connections>Manage Existing Connections....

On the General tab hit Delete Settings.

You could also try opening the Comm Manager and turn on Airplaine/Flight mode, which will turn off the radio.

I'm sure some of you guys have heard of iCaller. I have downloaded the zip file from two different sites, one of which was XDA Developers. But I have been unsuccessful in installing it to my phone. Everytime I try to open the zip file, I get an error message saying that file access was denied. I've installed (thanks to you guys!) several applications and I have been successful with pretty much any other hack or tweak that I've tried thus far. So I have NO idea what the problem could be.

See I'm a bit new to mobile moding hacking. You couldn't trouble yourself to provide some links that show me how to get my wifi working could you? That really is my main problem now.

Download the 64-bit driver from the following link... and follow the instructions. It worked fine for me after installing the driver.

Hi,
I dont have sprint service anymore and cannot call them to fix problems.

I did however upgrade (Flash) to the new Windows Mobile 6.1 using the one provided by Sprint and HTC from there website;

It went well, and now my HTC 6800 (Sprint Mogul) states the following on the "about" page in the phone.

WM 6.1 Pro

CE OS 5.2.19208 (Build 19208.1.0.1) 2007 MS Corp.

Now for my PROBLEMS!

1) Wifi wont work.
Actually more specifically IE mobile doesn't work. It still tries to connect to the sprint network (I had the SERO Plan) using the cellular connection (which I dont have anymore). I tried to change the advanced settings to make all Internet programs to use the wireless connection, BUT THE WIRELESS CONECTION IS NOT LISTED AS A OPTION IN THE ADVANCED SETTINGS or any network settings! The wifi in my phone connects properly to my home network though, and I tried without any wifi mac filtering or wifi encryption, and still IE mobile wont connect.

How do I fix this? Is there an app that will auto set all the correct reg settings and everything?

I want to the use the Mogul as a Internet downloader to download Usenet binaries and if possible megaupload links (a more greener option that having the desktop on). Anyone know of any programs that can do this on windows mobile? I was hoping to use NZBmobile for usenet. Dont know of any rapidshare or megaupload downloader for the the mobile though (Like jdownloader for the desktops).

2) Sprint Bloat software and features. Basically is there a version of windows that is just the OS without the bloat from companies? Will WM 6.5 be too big for the HTC to handle? I saw this on the net

3) any 3rd party GPS software that dont require a Net connection and can use preloaded maps? I have 8 GB card.

Thanks for the link. Sorry if i sounded snippy in my reply. I didn't mean to. I just meant to say i understand push vs pull and thought with push, there''d be no drain on the battery unless i was getting a lot of email. It appears thats not the case, since its now day 4 since i recharged my battery and it's at 27%. typically the battery is normally dead by day 2 when i had it set to instant notification.

In the mobile phone universe if you are happy with what you have don't question it and just live with it. There have been many things I couldn't explain why they happened, ie super fast gps lock after a hard reset. That's why I don't reflash everytime I new build of a ROM comes out. If what I have is working then I stick with what I have.

I posted the link about what push email is just in case you or anyone else reading the thread didn't know exactly what it was or how it worked. I wasn't implying that you didn't know what it was.

FWIW, over the weekend my phone battery again lasted much longer then it usually does. Typically after 2 days my battery is close to dead. This weekd i didn't charge it and now monday, the battery is at 64%. That is after setting the active sync schedule to not check outlook at all during the weekend and only every 10 minutes during 'peak' times.

If it were using push notification, wouldn't the battery usage be about the same wether i had it notify me instantly or if i had it only notify me every X minutes? And again - i dont get that much email so it's not a case of constant notifications draining the battery.

Needless to say i'm quite happy since one of my biggest complaints about the mogul was the very short battery life. As i said, typically it wouldn't last more then 2 days. Now it looks like the battery will last most of a week before needing to be recharged.

Oddly, the specs on the mogul on the htc site says 'directpush'. So if it really is using push notification - maybe i just dont understand the mechanics of how that works.

I know what push email is. I assumed it was doing push, until i had it turned off and my battery lasted so long. Then i assumed it wasn't push, since if it was push, i'd think it shouldn't really effect the battery unless i was getting an email every 10 seconds.

When i recharge my phone, i'll set the active sync schedule to manual again and see if the battery lasts a long time again.

is it really push email though? Someone else said its not, that the phone itself is initiating the check.

I dont know what changed the settings to cause it to stop checking, but during the same period it stopped checking, my battery lasted a LOT longer - days longer, then it normally does. If it was using push notification, then it shouldn't have effected my battery that much having it set to instant notification. I dont get work related emails that often for it to drain the battery that much (15-20 emails at most during work hours)

I just changed the schedule so that it wont check at all during the weekends. I'll see if my battery performance improves again over the weekend.

With push email, the email is sent as soon as it arrives on your server. Your phone shouldn't be pinging the server. Maybe you had your phone settings set to check email every half hour. Maybe you just got a lot of emails pushed to your phone, enough to make a difference.

Ok, looks like the settings for this are in the active sync menu. I was looking in the outlook settings.

I do however have another question. I thought some miracle happened and my phone suddenly started getting incredible battery life. because 'coincidentally' ever since i stopped getting notified,. my battery is suddenly lasting days longer then it used to.

Does this mean when active sync is set to immediate notification, that my phone is basically constantly pinging the exchange server checking for new mail? I just assumed exchange was doing some sort of push notification since it would be a crazy battery drain for the phone to keep checking.
