Just checking some stats. We’ve spun literally thousands of articles in the short year-and-a-half we’ve been going. This makes me happy. I like being the “ghost in the machine.” We’re quitely driving tens of thousands of targeted people and relevant links to our customers. We’re everywhere, and yet, nowhere, all at once. Most of our customers prefer to treat us as their “little secret,” but we’re fine with that. So where can you see some of our work online? Chances are, you probably already have.

The Basics to Getting Ranked in Google

Recently, my friend Josh, who runs Jackson Photography, asked me for some basic tips to getting ranked more highly in Google. Following are some tidbits that I shared with him that should be applicable to many others wishing to improve their rankings:

1. Make sure your page title, and URL, if possible, contain the keywords for which you wish to rank. Also, don’t forget to include META keyword and description tags in the head of all your HTML pages.

2. Make sure your most important keywords are included in the body of the page several times (but don’t “keyword stuff”–make it natural), paying special attention to include them in header tags, bold them if possible, and include them in your text links back to your site–(for example: if trying to rank for “Jackson Photography,” your link text may look like: Try Jackson Photography for All Your Photography Needs).

3. Use Google Toolbar’s Backward Links button to scout your competition’s links, and go after the same links! Links are the lifeblood of rankings–the more you have (and the more established those links are–that is, those with high PageRank), the better you’ll do in the search engines. Go to Google, search with the keywords you’d like to rank for, and visit the top 10 or 20 sites, paying attention to the incoming links to these sites. Many will likely be directories or blogs that you can visit and submit your own site’s links!

4. Start a blog! The content syndication features of a blog are an SEO godsend–having a blog is almost a must to rank well today.

These are definitely the basics, but as with anything, a good grasp of the basics provides a great foundation to build your knowledge and skills!

My New Facebook App, “Told Ya So!”, Launches

Hi SpunWritees,

This post has nothing to do with article marketing or SEO…rather, I’m doing a little self-promotion for a Facebook app that I just launched, called Told Ya So!

It lets you argue with your friends, vote on others’ arguments, and send virtual bribes to your friends to encourage them to vote for you.

I like it, and I think it’s fun. But that’s just me. I’d really appreciate if you tried it out. You can always uninstall it if you hate it!

Google is NOT Your Customer!

Oh, those poor, misguided souls…

You know the ones–prowling internet marketing forums, downloading every latest and greatest e-book from yet another “guru” (who is just such a nice guy that he’s sharing his SUPER SECRET METHODS FOR DOMINATING GOOGLE! for a mere $49.99), endlessly checking their “keyword density,” worrying about topics as esoteric as “latent semantic indexing”…

It’s almost as if getting highly-ranked in Google is some sort of highly-classified secret to whom an only an enlightened few are privy.

Well, I’m here to tell you that I know the “secret” to ranking well in Google, and I’m going to share it with you in just a few minutes…for (GASP) FREE!
