Every year we are linked with a host of top players that we get excited about signing only for most of them not to be true. This year I hope it’s different! We have been linked with a triple swoop for Real Madrid’s Dutch strike force of Arjen Robben , Klass-Jan Huntelaar and Ruud van Nistelrooy.

The major shake up at the Bernabeu seeing Kaka and Cristiano Ronaldo both complete moves to the Spanish giants means that some of their former star players are now surplus to requirement as Real Madrid again look like entering a Galacticos period.

These players are top quality players and would certainly improve the first team. With both Bent and Pavlyuchenko being linked with moves away from the club these could the ideal replacements that may be available for a good price as Real will be keen to get them off of their wage bill.

Players of this quality are what we need to see in a Spurs shirt next season if we are to progress and challenge for honours and a European spot.

We signed David Bentley last summer after watching him produce some excellent displays for Blackburn, but after a disappointing season the midfielder could be set to leave already.

Bentley hasn’t really shown his true talent in a Spurs shirt this season and has come in for some sever criticism from the support as he struggled to justify his £15 million transfer fee. Aston Villa have been linked with a move for the player as it is believed Redknapp has not been convinced with the player who has only made fleeting appearances this year is keen to get rid.

Manchester City have also been linked with the player as part of a deal o bring Martin Petrov to the club but it is believed Villa are the favourites at the moment to sign the England international.

We have reportedly been linked with a move for Carlos Tevez but face stiff competition from other Premiership clubs as well as trying to finance the deal.

Tevez is a fantastic player and one I would love to pull on a Spurs shirt but if the figures that are being talked about are to be believed we are out of the race for his signature before it has even begun.

Liverpool are reported to be preparing a £50 million bid, by the time wages are taken into account. These types of figures we just can’t afford and to be honest he is not a £50 million player.

We certainly need a few signings in the summer to improve the squad for next year but it is unlikely that Tevez will be one of them.

We have had a tough season this time round with a lot of problem at the beginning but with Harry we now look more assured and solid and have an excellent base upon which to build.

There has been a lot of talk about arrivals and departures but one man I hope remains at the club in Jermaine Jenas. He is a fantastic player and considerable underrated by a lot of people.

He has been attracting a lot of interest with Inter Milan only one of the teams being linked with the player but if we are t improve next year we need to make sure it is a Spurs shirt that he is wearing next season and nothing else.

It will be very interesting to see who make the grade next season with the likes of David Bentley having struggled to establish himself after a big money move to the club.

We have an excellent backbone to the team which as long as we can keep fit have something great to build upon. How much money Harry gets in the summer will probably be determined by who gets grid of but there is plenty of potential to move some underachievers on and as long as we keep the key players like Jenas we can improve next season.

They say that in the event of a nuclear war there will only be one thing that survives – cockroaches. Well, I would like to add Spurs supporters to this list. Try as they may Tottenham Hotspur supporters will not be crushed under the jackbooted heels of the top 4. No, in any major city in any part of the world you will find, if you look hard enough, a few hardy souls gathered around a TV set during any live match that features the mighty Lillywhites. After spending some time in Bangkok over the last few weeks I was desperate for some fellow yids to share the pain with and I recieved a tip off that there may be a Spurs bar in town. So, off I headed and yes, there on the top floor were a few Tottenham Supporters huddled around the TV watching us ground out a bore draw with Fulham. I was made to feel very welcome by Billy the manager who assures me that all Spurs games take priority as he a Spurs man through and through. Great guys and I was made to feel very welcome and I will be back whenever I am in town. So, If you are ever in Thailand and you need to watch the Spurs then The Bulls Head is for you.

For some reason it’s been a while since our last update(3 months!) but I’m not sure why since so much has happened. Spurs are on the up and SIHK FC were back in action as well. After a whooping by some youngsters from some HK professional team, Edman arranged a rematch with the Chelsea Supporters Club on the 16th of November. Unable to attend the game, I’ll let Barrel do the talking.

Despite having 80% of possession, Spurs made hard work of dispatching an average Chel$ki team in the scorching sun at Happy Valley. The Lillywhites started brightly, passing the ball around well, and were in front within 3 minutes as Barrel’s cross from the right was glanced passed his own goalkeeper by the Chel$ki centre half. Spurs continued to control the game with Justin, JamesY, Benny and Linesman causing plenty of problems in the midfield. Despite lacking the final ball, we were in full control until Chel$ki equalized with a long range dipping shot that Edman just failed to reach.

The second half saw total Spurs domination with almost the entire game being played in the Chel$ki half. Plenty of chances were created, but a combination of back luck and profligate finishing kept the score level. The goal finally came when Tottingham launched a high clearance from his own half, Barrel headed it into the middle, and Chel$ki’s other centre half emulated his partner by guiding a precise header past his own goalkeeper.
By now the sun was sapping all the legs out there, but clearly no-one told James Yeung who launched a buccaneering run from his own half, played a one-two, then fed Number 10 on the right whose pinpoint cross was slid home from 6 yards by Barrel. 3-1 to Spurs and despite a late consolation by Chel$ki, Sam’s dominance of the middle of the pitch and Kinson’s industry on the right meant Spurs remained in control, and the scoreline looked a closer than the game actually was.

And to accompany that wonderful report and our 100% win record against opposing Hong Kong supporters clubs, here(and here) are some lovely pictures courtesy of JamesY.

The Vital Information:
- This Sunday, 31st August 2008! Kick off @ 8:30pm HKT.
- Don’t wear RED.
- Don’t be LATE!
After 2 weeks of disappointment, everyone’s hoping for a good performance against the Chavs.

*Spurs go into this game hoping to avoid their worst ever start to an EPL campaign. the last time they lost 3 on the trot was 29 years ago in the old first division losing 1-3(h) to boro, 4-0(a) to norwich and 3-1(a) to Stoke

*Chel$ki go into this game with the longest current unbeaten run in the premier league – 23 games ( 17 wins and 6 draws ) since defeat at the emirates in december. Chel$ki are the only team to remain unbeaten in the premier league in 2008

*Tottenham have only ever won twice away to the Premier League’s current ‘big four’. Their record is: played 64, won two (against Ar5ena1 and Liverpool both in 1993), drawn 19 and lost 43.

*Spurs last win at Stamford bridge was in February 1990 in the old First Division when they won 2-1 with goals from David Howells and Gary Lineker. John Bumstead replied for Chel$ki.

*In 32 games between the clubs since the Premier League started Chel$ki have won 20, Tottenham have won once and there have been 11 draws, Chel$ki goals 62, Spurs goals 25.

*Chel$ki have not lost when scoring first in the Premier League for 44 games (38 wins, six draws) since the 1-2 defeat at Tottenham in November 2006

*Chel$ki will be looking to extend their record unbeaten league run at Stamford Bridge to 84 games since their last defeat against Ar5ena1 on February 21st 2004.

*Spurs were the fifth highest scorers in the top flight last season with 66, one more than Chel$ki and had the 11th best away record winning 17 from a possible 57 points with three wins at Portsmouth, Derby and Reading, eight draws and eight defeats.

*Only Birmingham, Reading, Derby and Barcodes conceded more than Tottenham’s 61 goals.

*Spurs have only kept one clean sheet in the last nine outings and managed 15 in two Premier League seasons.

*Tottenham’s recent form has seen one win in the last nine in the Barclays Premier League. The last occasion they won maximum points away was at Derby in early February.

*Tottenham’s top Premier League scorers last term were Dimitar Berbatov and Roy Keane 15 and Darren Bent 6. Chel$ki’s were Frank Lamplard 10 and Didier Drogba 8.

SIHK FC have also had an unhappy time results wise recently. On the 16th we played in the JCS Invitational Tournament Plate Final against HK Bar Association FC. As I wasn’t in attendance I will quote DannyBoy:

Barrel for us, someone for them.

JamesY scored his penalty, the others had theirs saved as their goalkeeper was ridiculously good.

THE END.

Then Spurs lost to Boro so it was a miserable weekend! We do have 2 friendlies coming up so we’ll hopefully be back on form.
