Billions of people rely on vehicles for everyday transportation. While some people may not own a car, many people rely on buses, taxis, scooters, and other vehicles for commuting. A used vehicle will contain lower levels of these dangerous toxins. Try to purchase a vehicle that is at least 2-3 years old. This will help ensure safety for both the driver and his or her passengers.

It's also important to understand where a vehicle was manufactured. Most vehicles in the United States are put through their final manufacturing states in a domestic facility -- most of the production takes place outside the United States. All cars are required to have a sticker indicating the origin of the vehicle. This sticker is usually found on the driver's door of the vehicle.

Many people rely on air conditioning in a vehicle to cool them down on a hot day. While this can be a great way to create a comfortable environment inside a vehicle cabin, it can result in the concentration of deadly toxins. Avoid the use of the air recirculation feature in a vehicle. While recirculating the air inside a vehicle can help save money, it will expose drivers and passengers to higher levels of toxins.

My first car was a used 1981 Ford Mustang. It was a complete piece of garbage, but it was the best I could do with $900 worth of hard-earned busboy tips. It only had one side mirror, the power steering fluid had to be filled every two weeks and there was a nail in the dashboard. I would have removed that last bit of nonstandard hardware, but whenever the Brown Bomber didn't want to turn over, touching the nail for luck seemed to work. But compared to my friends' cars, mine at least looked the fastest. Looks don't win at the stoplight, though, and my rust-colored 'Stang featured the double whammy of a 109-horsepower 2.8-liter V6 and an automatic transmission.

To say that my Mustang's powertrain was a disappointment could be the understatement of the century, but I wasn't the only V6-powered Mustang owner suffering from horsepower humiliation. It would be another 30 years before Ford would offer a V6-powered Mustang with anything more than mule muscle, but that's where we are today. The 2012 Mustang boasts a legit 305 horsepower, or more punch than the 4.6-liter V8 under the hood of the 2009 Mustang GT. I have no doubt that the 2012 Mustang is vastly superior to my 1981 shame machine, but does that 305 horsepower and a vastly improved rear-wheel-drive chassis make this Mustang one of America's great performance bargains? 2013 Porsche Panamera Facelift Spied, new rear end in the works

The Porsche Panamera is scheduled to receive its first facelift for the 2013 model year. Test vehicles have been spotted by our spies over the past few months, but these latest spy shots confirm the model will receive a redesigned rear end.

Unfortunately we don't get to see much of the changes. A temporary makeshift bumper looks to have been grafted on to the rear, so we'll have to patiently wait to take a peak at final styling changes. However, the German sportscar brand aren't well known for massive redesigns on their models, generally favouring evolution rather than revolution.

The front end remains the same as we have seen in previous test vehicles. Large black panels hide some minor modifications to the headlights and the front fascia closely resembles the new Porsche 911 (991).

The range of engines is unlikely to change, although Porsche engineers will probably tweak a few minor details for improved performance and fuel economy figures.

Porsche unveiled the 918 Spyder Concept at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show, followed by the 918 RSR Racing Lab at the 2011 Detroit Auto Show. Both concepts will be used as base versions for the 918 Spyder production and racing vehicles scheduled to arrive in 2013.

The production version 918 Spyder was officially confirmed for an end of 2013 launch with the first deliveries beginning in early 2014. Porsche will build only 918 units and will price each unit at $845,000 on the US market.

The Porsche 918 Spyder Concept is powered by a 500 HP 3.4 liter V8, along with a pair of electric motors producing 109 horsepower each. But for the production version, this engine will be replaced with an engine featuring a larger displacement of 4.6 liter based on the RS Spyder LMP2 race car. This engine will deliver a total of 550 HP and will be combined with three electric motors that will increase the total output to an impressive 720 HP.

If you can't wait to get your hands on the 2013 SRT Viper, you'd better get used to twiddling your thumbs unless you're a member of the Viper Club of America.

According to MSNBC, initial sales of the highly-anticipated model will be restricted to loyal customers. This is a nice way of rewarding previous clients and will likely ensure the first batch of production vehicles doesn't end up on eBay with a huge mark-up.

As we have previously reported, the 2013 SRT Viper will debut at the New York Show before being launched later this year. Specifications remain a mystery, but rumors suggest the car will have an 8.7-liter V10 engine with more than 600 hp (450 kW / 608 PS) and 560 lb-ft (760 Nm) of torque.

Here are the latest spy photos of the Ferrrari 599 replacement, codenamed F152, taken during some tests on public roads as well as the famous Ferrari entrance in Maranello.

As previously reported, the F152 is rumored to forgo a carbon fiber body, like the ones found in the Lamborghini Aventador and McLaren MP4-12C, in favor of an aluminum body structure due to high construction costs and little benefit to performance.

Speculated to carry the name F620, the new front-engine rear-wheel drive supercar will be based on the new Ferrari FF and use the same 6.3-liter V12 engine and seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox. Power output is expected to increase from the FF's 660 PS (485 kW / 651 hp) to 710 PS (522 kW / 700 bhp).

The F620 is expected to have it world premiere at the Geneva Motor Show in early March.

The Ferrari Genuine Maintenance will cover all new models for 7-years of service without a mileage limit
Ferrari is taking a bold step amongst luxury automakers and is now offering a 7-year unlimited mileage service program for all new Ferrari models.

The Ferrari Genuine Maintenance program includes the current lineup of the 458 Italia, the California and the FF models.

The program was designed to service vehicles about once a year but customers who reach the 20,000 km (12,500 miles) intervals earlier will still get their vehicles serviced. There is no mileage limit on the 7-year coverage.

This kind of service is unique amongst luxury automakers and could signal a new competitive realm amongst supercar makers such as Ferrari and Lamborghini.

Rebodied Viper = Zagato TZ3 Stradale Today Zagato released details of their TZ3 Stradale to celebrate the late Alfa Romeo Centennial. Its style is a fitting tribute to the legendary Alfa Romeo Giulia TZ2 of 1965 and maybe the Alfa Romeo T33/2 Stradale made two years later.

Surprisingly, unlike the Corsa version that came before it, the Stradale is essentially a rebodied Dodge Viper ACR. This begs the question: what besides the badges warrants the Alfa Romeo nameplate? It's these sticky situations which Ferrari has tried to avoid by banning any and all restyled cars except their own.

The classic TZ nameplate is an essential part of Alfa Romeo history: The Giulia TZ of 1963 took advantage of Zagato's lightweight aluminum bodies with ‘Codatronca’ bodywork from the Giulietta SZ. The ultimate version is the Giulia TZ2 which many people describe as a mini Ferrari GTO.

OMG! The winningest team in Formula 1 and the company that best translates that racing technology to its road cars has gone off the reservation and built an all-wheel-drive wagon with a suspension that goes up and down like a Range Rover's. Not even Nostradamus saw this coming. The Mayans were right -- the world is ending in 2012!

Ferrari offers 16 standard colors, 10 colors inspired by the 1960's, 12 non-standard colors, and 3 three-layer colors. Pair them with polished, matte, or black rims, six caliper colors, and myriad combinations of interior monotone or multi-tone leathers and stitching. An online configurator makes them all available for internet dreamers.Such was the hysterical reaction of many following the Geneva unveiling of Ferrari's latest V-12 grand tourer, the FF.

That's because the company decided to go for a revolutionary redesign of the 612 Scaglietti with the aim of luring more rich golfers and skiers. Basically the design brief was this: Make the car fit four full-sized 95th-percentile adults, plus a couple of tournament golf bags or four people's roller bags for a weekend getaway within the 612's footprint, while ensuring that it could A) reach the slopes safely in winter, and B) perform like any other Ferrari on dry pavement.

Those packaging requirements pretty much forced Pininfarina into the controversial square-back design (call it a "shooting-brake" if you're fancy), but at least this shape contributed to the 20-percent improvement in overall aerodynamic efficiency. By raising the roof just 1.4 inches, the car can snugly carry four 6-footers while providing Porsche Panamera-topping luggage space in back.

The performance targets sent the engineering department to their drawing boards. The first goal requires all-wheel-drive (plus proper winter tires and that optional hydraulic lift that boosts ground clearance by 1.6 inches up to 20 mph), while the second demands a rear weight and drive-torque bias. Those divergent requirements basically ruled out every known AWD system since the Jensen FF's, including Nissan's tangle of driveshafts and transaxle solution. (It adds too much weight and wrecks the underbody packaging.)

You don't have to be a Camaro fan, or even a Chevrolet fan, to appreciate the 2012 Camaro ZL1. You may well think the Ford Shelby Mustang GT500 is the greatest car ever built, but you still read every word of our ZL1 first look to see what Ford's up against. Get ready to see new super Chevy in a whole new light.

You see, we were able to schedule a little private time with the ZL1 following its big debut at last month's 2011 Chicago auto show. Think of it more as a sensual massage than a one-night stand. Chevy wasn't going to let us get all handsy with their latest star, but a private modeling session? Why not? Chevy brought the car, we brought the cameras and a good time was had by all in the strategically-lit room.

How could it not be fun? After all, this is the Camaro we've been asking Chevy to deliver since we first drove the fifth-generation SS. It's the car we enthusiasts would build if we could pick through GM's parts bin without having to pay for it. Carbon-ceramic brakes and magneto-rheological shocks cribbed from the mighty Corvette ZR1? Check. A 550-horsepower LSA supercharged V-8 cribbed from the giant-killing Cadillac CTS-V? Check. Aggressive, but restrained styling? Check, but to be fair, they could've taken it a step farther. A steering wheel and shift knob we'd actually want to hold? Double check. Nice to hear the guys at Chevy were listening.

As we alluded to, though, this was a first date in suburbia, not a Vegas fling. Chevrolet wasn't about to throw a bunch of "drive it like you ain't payin' for it" journalists the keys to their only prototype for a romp in the neighborhood. We were, however, able to pry the keys from the car's handlers long enough to fire up the ZL1 and take in its aural delights.

Join us, then, by proxy. Fire up the video and hear the 2012 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 for the first time as it roars to life and gives us just a little tease of musical chops. Tease. We'll be back for more when Chevrolet decides to let its latest offspring venture out in the world and date the jerks, but for now, enjoy the happy ending.

2013 Porsche 998 911

The 911 is the most successful model in Porsche’s history. It started its long history back in 1963 and since then Porsche has offered five distinct generations: 911 classic, 964 Series, 993 Series, 996 Series, and 997 Series. Moreover, the sixth one is already under intense testings and will make its official debut in 2011 at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

It may be a little unorthodox for Porsche to be bringing out a new generation 911 despite the fact they just revealed a facelift version, but the requests keep changing and Porsche must answer the call of duty. Their latest target is improving both fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.

The sixth generation 911, or the 998, will be a completely new vehicle, even though everyone will recognize it as a 911 model. Shortly after the launch of the 998 911, Porsche will also be releasing the Turbo, GT2, and GT3 in 2012.

It wasn’t that long ago when, in the middle of their brand reinvention, Jaguar released the refreshed XKR sports car at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show. A year after the new XKR made its debut to the public, Jaguar is headed back to Geneva with another XKR model. Only this time, it’s the hot-as-a-scorching-summer’s-day XKR-S.

The new XKR-S features exclusive new paint colors that reflect Jaguar’s racing heritage. As with competition Jaguar cars of the past, the exterior of the XKR-S adheres to the principle of form following function.

Adrian Hallmark, Jaguar’s new Global Brand Director, describes the car as a "bold and exciting new model for Jaguar". He adds: "The styling of this car isn’t about image, it’s about true performance. Like other iconic Jaguar cars before it, the styling has been driven by geometry and aerodynamics for genuine design purity."

Mercedes-Benz wants full hybrid lineup by 2013

Mercedes-Benz wants to have a full hybrid lineup in both Europe and the United States by 2014.

"We have a leading position in the premium segment concerning alternative propulsion systems, and we will defend it," said Daimler's E-Drive and Future Mobility chief, Herbert Kohler, in an interview with Automotive News Europe.

The full hybrid lineup will include a C-Class hybrid and E-Class hybrid variants launched in Europe by 2013 and the S-Class plug-in hybrid (pictured here in concept form) debuting by 2014. U.S.-market launches for those models will follow six-months after their European debuts.

Kohler said that Daimler spends about half of its research and development budget of €4.1 billion ($5.6 billion) on alternative powertrain technologies.

Pagani Huayra officially revealed

After a flurry of leaks, Pagani has officially unveiled the Huayra ahead of its debut at the Geneva Motor Show.

Named after the god of wind, the new supercar is powered by an AMG-sourced 6.0-liter biturbo V12 engine with over 700 hp (522 kW / 710 PS) and 1000 Nm (737 Nm) of torque. It is backed up by an XTRAC seven-speed sequential transmission which weighs 96 kg (212 lbs) and is mounted transversely behind the engine. Performance specifications haven't been finalized, but testing has revealed the 1,350kg (2,975 lb) Huayra can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 3.3 seconds and hit top speed of 370 km/h (230 mph).

While the car's styling won't win many fans, the Huayra was designed for maximum aerodynamic efficiency. As part of this mission, the car has four adjustable flaps which can operate independently to improve downforce as needed. Furthermore, the sleek carbon fiber body incorporates gullwing doors and plenty of openings to assist in engine cooling.

Inside, the cabin is elegantly appointed with premium leather upholstery, milled aluminum components, and acres of carbon fiber trim. Thankfully, unlike most specialty supercars, the Huayra is also equipped with a touch-screen infotainment system and Bluetooth connectivity.

As promised, the car is fully homologated to meet U.S. safety regulations. This added weight, but thanks to the extensive use of lightweight materials - such as a carbon-titanium monocoque tub, carbon-ceramic brake discs, and forged Avional suspension components - the Huayra is only 120 kg (265 lbs) heavier than the outgoing Zonda.

Production is slated to commence later this year and pricing is expected to start at €1,000,000 ($1,368,800 / £867,030).

If a car was able to have chest hair sticking out of their front bumper to illustrate the testosterone hidden in the panels, then this Vauxhall VXR8 would definitely be needing a trimmer. Coming into the 2011 model year, the VXR8 will be one hot little performance sedan with some styling modifications and some new technology. But we can’t get too excited because this Vauxhall is obviously only available in the UK. Stupid Atlantic Ocean.

The 2011 VXR8 is powered by the fourth generation 6.2-liter LS3 unit that delivers an impressive 431 HP and 550Nm of torque. This is just enough to sprint the VXR8 from 0 to 60mph in 4.9 seconds and to hit a top speed limited to 155mph.

Anyone would be just about insane not to want a piece of this action so some must-have information is where one can find the 2011 Vauxhall VXR8. It will be available through just six specialist VXR dealers in the UK, though a total of 34 VXR outlets will be authorized to maintain the model.

2011 Lamborghini Gallardo LP 620 YarroW by Wheelsandmore

Audis, Ferraris, and Mercedes, Oh my! German tuner, Wheelsandmore, have already dazzled us with a plethora of tuning package for the brands mentioned, but we would be crazy to think that a Lamborghini would fly under their radar. Enter their YarroW package. The YarroW is a tuning project based on the Lamborghini Gallardo LP 560-4 that includes both engine and exterior updates.

The engine upgrade package includes a special stainless steel, valve controlled exhaust system, combined with an ECU upgrade and a special carbon airbox. This combination allows for a 60hp boost in power, getting the Gallardo from 560hp to 620hp. Managing all that power is a much-needed new high performance brake system featuring 8-piston calipers with 14.96 inch brake discs in the front and 6-piston calipers with 14.17 inch discs in the rear.

The exterior package includes a set of 3-piece forged lightweight wheels in their customized "6Sporz" model. These wheels are wrapped around Dunlop Sport Maxx tires, 235/30/20 in the front and 305/25/20 in the rear. The exterior is also decked out in carbon fiber with the frontflap, mirrors, rear diffuser, and some interior elements receiving the treatment.

Loris Bicocchi's tan, cherubic face leers at me from the passenger seat, his eyes wide behind Prada shades. It is the most animated I've seen my oh-so-cool Italian co-pilote since our drive began.

"VOW! From this seat, it just feels... so different. So AMAZING!"

And to think, all I had to do was pass a slow-moving farm truck in the most modest way possible. Rather than toggling the lever from Drive to Sport, or clicking the downshift paddle back in a come-hither motion, I overtake the truck the old-fashioned way: by burying my right foot.

For half a beat, nothing happens. Then there is an explosive lurch from the hindquarters, as the 20-inch tall, 365 rears engage in a brief, but victorious, battle for traction. All four wheels hook, leaving our stomachs and the Spanish countryside behind us in a hot wake of exhaust gas. I lift my foot and the wastegates reply with a full-bodied belch as we coast back down to a high-double-digit cruising speed.

2011 Mercedes-Benz R350 BlueTec

The significance of the 2011 R350 is that it's the first major face-lift for the slow-selling R-class, and the vehicle looks undeniably better. The new styling was intended to make the R-class appear a bit less like a minivan, and that effort has succeeded. The R-class now better resembles its big, successful brother, the GL-class SUV. I've always liked the combination of utility, luxury, and prestige that the R-class provides, but the market didn't agree with me.

And although the R350 has a very impressive, very efficient diesel powertrain, I'm not sure the market will respond, especially given the R350's high price. It seems that for those Americans who want to haul more than four or five people in a Mercedes, the GL is what they want. But if that big SUV leaves you cold, by all means, check out the R-class. There's a lot to love here -- just not the monthly payments.

Proton has unveiled that Proton Inspira will be the official name for its Proton Waja replacement model, which has until now been only referred to by its internal codename, the Proton P3-90A.

The Proton Inspira is developed from a Mitsubishi Lancer with the choice of a Mitsubishi’s 4B10 1.8 liter engine with a 5-speed manual, a Mitsubishi 4B10 1.8 liter engine with a 6-speed virtual ratio CVT gearbox, or a top of the range 2.0 liter 4B11 engine with the same CVT transmission with added steering column paddle shifters.

At launch, the Inspira will have about 26% local content at launch, with the aim of raising it to 40% within the next few months and straight up to 65% within a year from the launch date once the local vendors have been fully prepped. It is built at Proton’s MVF plant.

Available in red, white, black or silver, the new Proton Inspira is now open for booking at any Proton dealer with a deposit of RM1,000. BRABUS SV12 R Biturbo 800 revealed

Brabus has unveiled the fastest and most powerful sedan in the world - the SV12 R Biturbo 800.

Essentially a revised SV12 R, the Biturbo features a 5.5-liter V12 engine which has been bored to 6.3-liters. Besides the extra displacement, engineers added a new crankshaft, larger pistons, high-performance camshafts and optimized cylinder heads. Furthermore, the company installed a carbon fiber air intake, new turbochargers, four intercoolers, a sport exhaust, and a recalibrated ECU.

Thanks to all these changes, the V12 produces a staggering 800 PS (788 bhp / 588 kW) and 1,420 Nm (1,047 lb-ft) of torque. Sadly, the latter figure is electronically limited to 1,100 Nm (811 lb-ft) for "technical reasons." Despite this, the über sedan accelerates from 0-100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.9 seconds and 0-200 km/h (124 mph) in 10.3 seconds. If that isn't fast enough, keep your foot planted and the Biturbo will eventually top out at an electronically limited 350 km/h (217 mph).

To ensure the car remains stable at speed, Brabus equipped it with an aerodynamic body kit, high-performance tires (from Pirelli or YOKOHAMA), a revised suspension module (which lowers the ride height by 15mm), beefier brakes, and a limited-slip differential.

Simbol Design reveals their Lavazza GTX-R V12

Remember the K1 Attack revealed a few months ago? Here’s his non-related bigger brother: the Lavazza GTX-R built by Simbol Design. It’s not exactly a supercar that is worthy of the title yet, but at least it has the looks of one, even though the attempt to mirror the Ferrari Enzo fell incredibly short.

The Lavazza GTX-R is powered by a BMW sourced V12 engine and, as with its aesthetics, its performance figures still fall a little short than those of other current supercars. Both versions are powered by a 5.3 liter BMW sourced V12 engine, but the GTX develops 400hp while the GTX-R produces 620hp. Lucky for us, the Lavazza GTX-R will be the only one coming to our side of the pond. The GTX-R will sprint from 0 to 60 mph in 4.6 seconds which is not exactly a figure that is worthy of the supercar title considering that a lot of the supercars now are succeeding at getting these sprints down to the three seconds mark.

The Lavazza will be offered in both coupe and roadster versions and will be built in carbon kevlar. This will help the car get its weight down to about 2381 lbs. On the exterior, the GTX-R will get fixed front diverters and rear venturi intakes with adjustable side diverters, an adjustable rear wing, and a roof scoop.

The front of the car may look a little like a Pagani Zonda (or a Zonda on drugs), but the price tag shouldn’t as this car is definitely not fitting into the ranks of the Italian supercars of today. Of course, if you wanted to ride around in a supercar without having to pay the grandiose supercar price, then this knockoff should appease quite nicely.

2010 Ferrari F430 Novitec by ZR Auto

As with any other Ferrari model, the F430 sports car has received star treatment from worldwide Ferrari tuning firm, Novitec Rosso, but apparently Michiel van den Brink and ZR Auto thought the package needed just a few more tweaks before it was just right. In case anyone has already forgotten these Canadian tuners were the ones that created the 1200 HP Gallardo, and Michiel van den Brink is the designer of the famous Ferrari Vandenbrink GTO so we can only imagine that what they added to the F430 is sure to please!

Unfortunately, these creative minds have only provided us with a few images of their version of the F430 by Novitec, but we can only hope that since Michiel van den Brink was in charge of the exterior design, that ZR Auto was given the task of boosting power under the hood. Do we see a 1200hp F430 in our future? Maybe, maybe not, but we’ll get back with more details as soon as they are released.

Until then, just sit back and enjoy the red exterior paint along with those black stripes and ZR Auto. And when you look at the ZR Auto logo just remember that you might be feasting your eyes on a power hungry version of the Ferrari F430. Bon Appetit!
